This store is clean and orderly but the bakery department is always rude. I have to purchase cakes and bagels and a variety of goods for my office on a fairly regular basis and it's always a hassle. The staff doesn't communicate well, they get made about questions, they get the orders wrong, and overall it's unpleasant to deal with them. The only reason I continue to purchase from this bakery is because it is the closest store to my office. If I had a choice, I'd go somewhere else to avoid the rude staff in the bakery. read more

This Mariano's offers a variety of hot food options. My coworker and I both bought sandwiches from the sandwich stand for lunch, encouraged in part by the $3-off-two coupon available. The sandwiches are all around $7 each. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, which they prepared by grilling in the panini press. The paper bags of chips available on the counter are outstanding as they are homemade! Mariano's is a good lunch choice for a group if you work in the area because there are diverse meal options, including those that are vegan and vegetarian; everyone can find food suited to their diet but still eat together at the tables in the store. read more

Love it! Sushi was great from here, great looking produce and the cashier actually smiled at us. Very nice.

This store is going down hill fast. Used to be a big fan, but as of today, will be shopping elsewhere. From the little, simple things like just stocking the produce section with twist ties to seal your bags to the more important such as produce that is fresh. Just today, found several pieces of moldy produce on the shelves. Have seen moldy bread on the shelves in the past. It's just dirty too. Go to the bakery and take a look at the cabinet that the bagels and muffins are in - crumbs and dirt all over the place. If you do shop here, you better check the expiration dates on everything. Have come home recently only to find out that the diary I bought expired two days ago. Not saying other grocery stores don't have this challenge, but it just happens too often here now. It's clear from the remodel late last year and into this year, combined with fewer staff on hand to bag, etc, this store is in trouble financially. Wouldn't be surprised if the doors are closed for good by end of 2018. read more

Love the oyster bar! Place is huge definitely not a quick stop place. Prices are high but they seem to have everything. The produce section does have good product but sometimes their signs and products don't match their register. Because of this I've avoided some items because I've had issues and don't want to create hassle our more work for the employees. Only one working scale. Heads up on bargain buys are usually close dated but that's why they are bargains. The world aisles do carry a great variety as well as their cheese "room". More of a monthly place than a weekly place. Overall great place and accommodating staff. read more

Summary: What this is is an "enhanced" Marianos store. If you've seen a Mariano's before, a significant portion of this store is the same thing that you would find at another location, although there seems to be a slightly expanded selection at this store. The key difference is the prepared area. Not only is there the usual large prepared foods area, but there are also a number of stations, somewhat similar to "Eataly" - including a seafood station, a gorgeous enclosed cheese area, a vegetarian area and a wine bar. There's also a gorgeous spice/grain bulk area, plus a little aisle of "world" goods. If you live fairly far away but near another Mariano's, it's fun to stop here once to see what they've done, but it's not necessary to make this your new Marianos. If you live close by, I have to say this is probably going to be some trouble for Jewel and perhaps Whole Foods. I think this will be real trouble for Heinens, which is too expensive and doesn't really distinguish itself in any way. Produce at Marianos is actually quite reasonable, but I do think that the rest of the store isn't cheap. Ultimately, things seem to balance themselves out whenever I go to Marianos, but there's a good deal that I could get cheaper elsewhere when it comes to the core area of the store. I don't quite have the same love for Marianos as many do (honestly, I kinda miss Dominicks) and perhaps it's partly because I'm not as fond of making food shopping such an "experience" - I like good quality food at a reasonable price and most of the time I just want to get in and get out and I know exactly what I want. That said, I'm impressed with what Marianos has done here although I would have liked more changes to the core part of the store - would have loved to have seen an even bigger world market area. Would have loved to have seen a greater focus on expanded selection in the core part of the store than the "stations" - as someone who doesn't live nearby, expanded selection versus another Marianos would give me a reason to go out of my way. The stations are fun for those who are going to shop here and live nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here when there's a regular Marianos closer. Additionally, there's a Marianos on Willow, there's a Marianos coming on Skokie Blvd, there's a Marianos on the other side of Glenview and there's one that will eventually be in Bannockburn. Nothing against Marianos, but there is a point where oversaturation seems like a concern. Again, if you have a Marianos near you you don't really need to come here as a regular - take a look if you're in the area. If you're in the area, while I have a few minor issues with the store, it's a great additional choice for people living nearby. read more

I'm giving you 2 stars because the cakes are awesome! But the hot food? Is terrible! It looks good but it taste like paper, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves putting out food with absolutely no taste read more

Although I live 5 minutes from the Lake Zurich store, I still shop here. I can spend an entire day just on the first two aisles. There's the wine bar, chocolate shop, guacamole bar, Todd's BBQ, etc. Everytime I come here I find myself discovering another shop that I overlooked. The selection is vast and the prices are competitive. I'll definitely be back. read more

Love this store. I especially like the meat department. They are very helpfu. They are happy to cut the steaks into thin cuts and split the veal chops. We love them thin! They also carry femur bones that make my puppy happy! My husband and I shop here together once a week! We usually have lunch there and then do our shopping. The deli section has a great $7 meal as well as the best Chicken Salad! The bakery section is great too and always delicious no matter what we buy! read more

OK I can't let this go any longer: beware of this Mariano's. It's not because of the store staff. It's because they don't sweep their store for expired inventory. This is being written as I bit into a Kashi bar that I purchased from this Mariano's on Sunday, September 23, 2018. The bar tasted funny so I looked at the box and it expired in September of 2017. That's right, the box has been sitting on the shelf for over a year. This is not the first time I have purchased expired products from the store - I also picked up a container of juice and when I got home realized that it had been expired for over a month. I have also accidentally purchased expired dairy products. The problem with expired products is RAMPANT throughout the store and not limited to one section. It's not my job as a shopper to inspect every single product for the valid expiration date (let's be honest, sometimes those dates are hidden pretty well on the package). I will be finding a different place to do my grocery shopping going forward. read more

I love this Mariano's! I am a little disappointed though. Recently they redid their fresh food section and removed their oyster bar. I loved going shopping on a weekday and grabbing a light lunch of fresh oysters. Despite the changes, this Mariano's is still the best grocery store around. I drive past 2 other grocery stores to get to this Mariano's because of their selection, and their service. Their international section is the best. I can find foods here that's just aren't available anywhere else. They have Bamba! My husband loves this Israeli snack food that is sooo hard to find. Their meat selection is second to none. Always able to find a great steak and nice bottle of wine. Hopefully they'll rethink their changes and bring back the oyster bar! read more

This may sound a little crazy but in addition to A good grocery store, Mariano's is actually a great restaurant too! I started with a bottled dirty martini and believe it or not it was very good. For appetizer we had fresh oysters again really good. For the main course I had a steak from the meat counter. They actually grill them right there. It was outstanding. read more

Since being bought out, the quality of help/workers at this location has declined drastically. They no longer know what customer service is and do the bare minimum necessary for their paycheck. Twice in a row now I have sat in line for over five mins while we wait for the one person who can assist the cashiers with anything to get around to deciding to do their work. There is only one girl who works at the little sandwich grill that knows what she is doing, the rest are so lazy that one time she said they were out of salt and pepper, I asked her if she could go get some of the shelf, she said she didn't think so. Told her to get a manager to ask, she wouldn't. Total incompetence and laziness. They have almost sunk below the level of most jewels and dominick's (before they went under) here's hoping you crash and burn soon. Unfortunately I cannot give a 1/2 star read more

Went to this new Mariano's with my daughter. My first impression is that it is enormous. My second impression was I felt somewhat overwhelmed. I found exactly what I wanted and many things that were not needed but were impulse buys. If I am looking for something that few others carry, I will try Sunset first then Mariano's Cheese room fantastic. Just wish there were more samples read more

DO NOT USE THEIR PHARMACY! They convinced me to switch to their pharmacy, said they set me up for automatic refills and would send me a text when my prescription was ready and this did not happen 3 times in a row. I am now a month behind on medication because of their screw up but there is nothing I can do because it has to go through insurance. The manager was unhelpful, keeps saying it was the system's fault but I'm not sure how that can happen 3 times. If you want a reliable place, this is not the one you should choose. read more

It is always hard for me to decide if Mariano's is a giant food court with a huge grocery store attached or a high-end grocery store with a terrific food Emporium connected. In either case the food is always prepared to near perfection. Whether it's hamburgers at the barbecue at the barbecue pit according to your individual specifications or steak, pork chops or seafood Grill by the butcherit is always a top-quality and tasty. With its Whole Foods like infrastructure and near Jewel pricing it amounts to a tasty bargain in every trip. read more

The store is massive! There is a huge selection of grocery items to pick up.

So much selection, great for vegetarians. Make sure to check out the frozens as well as the refrigerated vegetarian foods.

Glenview and Northbrook stores are selling smoked "rack" of pork baby back ribs that are less than a full rack of 13 ribs. This is known as a "cheater rack". Why is Marianos cheating its customers? read more

I am not sure what is going on with the stocking procedures at this particular store, but for months I have been unable to find Evolution Green Devotion juice here. The tag is on the shelf, but there's always another flavor in front of the tag, just to fill the shelf so it doesn't look empty. I've asked repeatedly for someone to reorder it, at one point was told it was being discontinued, even though I could find it at all the other Mariano's stores, just not this one. Two flavors of Evolution, and that's it! Finally someone figured out how to reorder it, and it was on the shelf two weeks and now we are back to no Green Devotion again! What is the problem? read more

The mango was rotten The roasted chicken was tiny, greasy, and $2 more than Costco The oranges weren't sweet The ribs were fatty It looks great but does not deliver. read more

This place is a nice blend of fun, upscale fresh food departments with a dependable, moderate cost "normal grocery store." I'd avoid it during key shopping hours, when the place is a noisy madhouse; this place is too big and visually confusing to put up with that, so come in the evening, or very early on weekends. My secret indulgence is the popcorn station where they churn out fresh caramel corn and "Chicago mix" every day! Much more reasonable than Garrett's in the city, and way more convenient! I also love the fresh-squeezed OJ and the big bakery selection. read more

My experience at Mariano's was wonderful. I was having at rough day and I came to this location where after doing my groceries I was greeted by this handsome young gentleman, Miseal. I'm looking forward to seeing this great hard working again! read more

BUYER BEWARE! Please be sure to check your receipts after each and every visit. I have had to get refunds that range from $3 to $18 almost every single week after shopping at this Mariano's. I have called, I have e-mailed, I have filled out online surveys, I have taken pictures of the prices on the shelf to show to customer service when requesting my refunds, I have tried so hard to get someone, anyone to care enough to listen, and now, I have given up. All I can say is it frightens me to think of how many people DON'T check their receipts or don't "remember" what the price was on the shelf, (or the meat counter, or the deli). It's fraud, plain and simple, and this has been a problem for me and my family for a year now, so It would be impossible for it to be only our family that has been affected. Take notice fellow shoppers! There are other options in Glenview / Northbrook and I can tell you this NEVER happens with this blatant regularity anywhere else that I shop. I wish I would've walked away sooner. read more

Very poorly stocked store. It's amazing that for such a large place, I almost always walk out of here not finding something I came for. The produce section is the worst. I stopped coming here as a result. I rather deal with the parking lot of death at Fresh Farms for produce than this place. Meat prices are crazy high, on par with Whole Foods, so I don't even get that here anymore. It seems the store is always empty too, which is not a good sign. read more

I went to the salad bar today at Mariano's around 2:30. You and check out near the salad bar was a self-checkout, in the machine was not working properly. The machine didn't work properly I switch to a second machine and it was also having problems, and I asked for help. The woman who helped me was rude. I had to ask for help the second time, and she acted very disgruntled that she had had to help me. If your technology doesn't work, and your staff is going to be rude like this, I will take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!! This location has COMPLETELY gone DOWNHILL! I went to this store because I needed a few items, and tried to go to two different stations within the store, the first being the soup bar, where they were out of chicken noodle soup, and I told a worker passing by (who happened to be on his break) that they were out of chicken noodle. Thankfully this person, on his break no less, WAS kind enough to go tell the correct person so something could be done about it, and was kind and polite. Unfortunately, the person who came out to take care of the soup was surly and rather rude, and though did take the empty pot and refilled it with new, came back out and almost threw the tureen down and gruffly said, "This is all there is," and turned and walked away. I was shocked by his attitude, and I had not been rude or anything other than polite. So then I moved on to the fish station where I was left standing on my own, and kept trying to get the attention of the TWO people standing around doing NOTHING at the Deli counter other than chatting with each other and laughing it up, and completely IGNORING me. Meanwhile, I managed to get the attention of the young lady at the grill station who at least apologized at her inability to leave her station to help me because she was helping others and cooking on the grill, but she tried to get someone to help me who came out of the kitchen who REFUSED to come help me, and so there I was, standing at the fish station for TEN MINUTES before ANOTHER worker passing by acknowledged me and TRIED to find someone to help me. Meanwhile, I'm trying to call out to the two people at the deli counter, REPEATEDLY AND LOUDLY asking, "IS ANYBODY WORKING THIS STATION!?" but they continued IGNORING ME! FINALLY the old man turns around and makes his way (SLOWLY) to the station and "helps" me, but offers NO APOLOGY for having ignored me for ten minutes because it was more important for him to cavort with his colleague during WORKING hours (he was NOT on break). Moving on. I manage to get the rest of my items and make my way to the registers. Two idiots there as well. I discover when trying to get my container of soup out of the cart, that the lid isn't fitting right and I remark on this to the cashier who just stands stupidly as though I'm speaking gibberish. I tell him again that I either need a new lid for the soup which fits correctly, or need tape (like the red tape used at Jewel and Sunset for exactly this reason!!!) to secure the lid so that the soup won't spill out while I'm driving home. Nope, no response. He and the bagger continue to stand and stare stupidly at each other, and make other suggestions (useless ones such as using a rubber band. REALL!?) until FINALLY the bagger goes and gets a new lid. I've never been so angry in my life. WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED AT THIS LOCATION?! It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers came and took everyone's brains at this store and replaced them with peas! I've never seen such APATHY in workers at any place as I saw here tonight! These people need to be FIRED and replaced with people who actually CARE!? Or is that too much to ask in a CUSTOMER SERVICE business such as a grocery store!? There are PLENTY of other Mariano's around who do care about their customers and being polite and helping them and NOT ignoring them. Hell, there are other grocery store chains BESIDES Mariano's. Maybe they want my business because this location certainly doesn't seem to want it!!! read more

I am a Northbrook resident for 30 yrs. and I am a weekly shopper at Sunset Foods. I came into Mariano's yesterday for the wonderful saving you were offering and saved $19.61. I am writing to you because I needed help with produce and I was looking for the great quacamole you make on weekends. I came across the kindess, helpful produce man (that I have seen before) not only did he go with me to show me where to find the quac. He didn't like what was on the shelf from the previous day, so I will go back today for fresh. His name is Jose and he would be the type of person to manage that department. Thank you, Carolyn Rosenstein read more

Bakery Cake- I have ordered two custom cakes from this location recently, and have received so many compliments from the party attendees on how delicious they were! I'm a big fan of the Millennium Turkey sandwich...and for those of you who know what I'm talking about, the apples make the sandwich...otherwise it's just a turkey sandwich. After waiting a long time for someone to wait on us...during what seemed to be a slow time of the day, a scatter-brained woman made my sandwich. Not only was she slower than molasses, but she made my sandwich wrong. This was almost going to be my go to location, but now I'm going to the one on Waukegan and Golf, as they know how to make the signature sandwich. read more

I'm w grocery store snob. Publix in Orlando spoiled me. So I was excited to check out Marinos and I really wanted to like it. But I was sort of disappointed. We started with grocery shopping. The produce looked good. They seemed to have a good variety. We then checked out the meat department. I was looking to pick up some ground sirloin. But help NEVER came. We waited for seven minutes. We were the only ones there. What the heck? I promised my very patient preschooler that we would have better luck at the bakery. A nice woman begins the sweets counter gave him a cookie and we picked out an impressive vanilla cupcake decorated as a monster. It was pretty awesome. Just as I thought the meat counter was a fluke I meandered over to the bread counter. Two workers were doing, well I'm not sure what they were doing, but they definitely didn't want to be bothered slicing a loaf of bread for us. It was another customer service fail. I decided to give them another chance in their impressive food court. We checked out the salad bar (I liked it) and my son wanted to eat the chili (he devoured it). And we tried the freshly squeezed lemonade. That was a tray. But out check out was disappointing. The man at the register could not smile to save his life. Dude, really be nice it's not hard. The third strike,. On the plus side, his coworker was very nice and friendly. At this point, I wanted to leave our cart of goods because I was so disappointed with the customer service. But I didn't want to be that customer, so we ventured over to the checkout. The bag boy was grumbling how exhausted he was and how much he hates working. Who says that in front of customers?????? He needs etiquette 101. I'm still not sure where I'm going to grocery shop. read more

I never thought I would be so excited about a new grocery store! I no longer will schlep to multiple grocery stores (Sunset, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Fresh Farms, Heinen's). This is my new one stop shop. They have everything I need and want and then some. I will do my weekly shopping here for sure. And we even went there for dinner tonight. In addition to a huge regular grocery store, they have so many different prepared foods: sushi, oysters, BBQ, pizza, sandwiches, salad bar, and more. The meat and seafoods selections are amazing. But my favorite part is the produce section. There is such a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, many of them organic, and the prices are great. read more

The cashiers in this Mariannos are poorly trained in compassion and are insensitive to pleople who use an Illinois Link Card. I wrote a lenthly complain on line. I got a call back from the manager two days later and she promised to make good on the cashiers mistakes and she even promised some coupons in the mail. It made me feel good at the time but unfortunately nothing happened. Almost two months later still no coupons and the same incompetent people at the cashiers. My daughter went there this Sunday and was ridiculed and flirted with the whole time she was trying to pay for her groceries. The cashier used derogatory words and treated her like if she was less than a lady. I love Marianos stores. This one not so much. They need to train the cashiers to treat people with respect and dignity. read more
