This review is regarding specifically the pharmacy. I called at 9AM to ask about RX being filled. At all other Jewels this is done within an hour or 2. However lady on phone, I believe a pharmacist, says it will not be done by minimum 1:30 PM (4.5 hours). I mentioned it's kind of an urgent need. She said she's the only one there, can't do anything about it. I asked if she could rush, she said she'll mention. I followed up at 11:45AM. She said on phone that she already told me it's going to be AFTER 1:30PM (not at), and that nothing is going to change. SHe indiciated she's the only one there. Why does *this* Jewel not staff enough pharmacists to fulfill demand? Also, why are the pharmacists so rude? read more

This review is for the "bistro" at this location. This location in particular vs all the surrounding never has the advertised hot food available. The location down the street on willow is 100x better for hot foods. If you have the extra time to make the drive it's well worth it read more

This bakery made the worst cake I've ever had from a jewel store in my life. Special occasion, graduation...ordered a half sheet for a college graduation party as a supplement cuz we're having lots of other deserts so I thought jewel would be good for this. Ordered cakes in past and have been decent. Picked up my cake the bakery worker didn't even ask if we wanted to see how the cake looked or anything, she could care less. That bakery is always like that where the workers do everything they can to avoid eye contact with you so you don't ask them a tough question or something. Went on side to open the box and it just looked so UNIMPRESSIVE! I don't expect the world but didn't expect it to look like a first grader wrote out the words "congratulations "name " class of 2025. She put a comma after the name and wrote class of 2025. There was a huge void at the top right of cake just white frosting, no imagination, could've done something there but noooooo! I needed the cake for the party that day so no time to bitch about this. Don't get pure buttercream guys I mean they lay 25 pounds of frosting with a thin layer of cake. Just a horrible 62.00 cake!!!! Hey jewel! Pay attention! Your cake work is horrible. The buttercream was so sweet and thick and just overwhelmed the cake. Never again. I will stick with Continental Bakery. Superior in so many ways. read more

Ok unclear how this happened but my fried chicken tonight was glorious! Maybe I was lucky that there was no more under the heat lamp and the guy had to package it up. As usual, it took incredibly long for the staff to 'complete their tasks' and they look up multiple times to 'assess the crowd' without assisting us. But serious, great chicken. read more

Jewel-Osco has it all. From farm fresh fruits and vegetables, to great selection of bread, fresh deli, there's even an abundance of plants and flowers, not to mention an amazing selection of local wines and craft beers. It's truly a one-stop-shop. Clean, tidy, stocked, organized, helpful, polite teammates. Managed and operated by professionals. Excellent customer service especially when I ask for something that's on a certain isle you can rest assured know confidently from my review they will satisfy those needs especially when you need to finish your grocery list that you need to abide by. All of the check-out staff are really nice and go out of their way to help read more

If I can give it a zero I would.. I went there a couple of times, as I thought it was quieter and nicer I was very wrong each time going I ended up throwing food away due to expiration dates, when I brought it to the managers attention he could have cared less. So yesterday I went (my last time I will ever go) my daughter and I had to look at every expiration date, cream was expired in June, bread expired cans expired it was horrible but to add insult to injury in the bread isle was a bag on the floor with bread rolls in it, and all molded how long has it been sitting that an employee didn't see this, the shelves were not stocked, no one was around to help, and standing in line to check out was an empty Starbucks cup that was just sitting. Totally disgusted with this store read more

This review is solely regarding the meat department. I've had great service in the past when I've bought eye of round to smoke for beef jerky. I've always had them slice it for me because they can do it in no time and get it cut more consistent than I can with a knife. Today, for the first time, I was told it would be an up charge to slice it. No where does it say there is an extra charge and it's not a very labor intensive process so I really don't get it. Their signage says they are happy to custom cut your order. That does not seem to be the case. To make it worse, I get the slices of meat back and it's not thin enough to do what I wanted. I'm stuck with $30 worth of junk that's going to be too thick to get the jerky I wanted and it can't be sliced again. Billy's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Jewel-Osco - "Our butchers are happy to custom cut your order" is misleading. Should say for an extra charge. It's not free and they aren't happy. - Grocery Near Me - Glenview, Illinois

I like the store. Everything is easy to find and the layout is pretty standard. The manager Maureen, though, she is always at the service desk... she is not friendly at all. She answers questions like the customer is stupid and is very short and unhappy. Having worked at a Jewel Osco myself for 7 years, I know firsthand this is not how you treat the customer. read more

This is my regular Jewel as of 6 years since it's the closest one to me and therefore the most convenient. It has a good variety of products some of the staff is friendly. The pieces of fruit in the containers are decently fresh, and the vegetables are presentable. A Starbucks is located in store and is usually open until 7, and their drinks are legitimately good. Also, the stock of products are regularly restocked. A lot of the cashiers in the front end are really easy + fun to talk to. I do have some problems with the location though... For one, a lot of the time you will notice that the amount of registers that are open tends to be way too few and therefore leads to long lines. I figure it might be due to their refusal to schedule an adequate amount of cashiers. They're too cheap to, it would seem. I try to avoid certain cashiers personally because of how rude they are. The management in the front end isn't exactly nice either. To both their employees and the customers alike. Even some of the employees aren't nice to each other. As someone else mentioned, there is usually some flies in the donut area. They pretty much get in whenever someone opens the doors for long periods of time. Fruit flies also occupy the fruit portions of the produce, and said fruits are not always in the best of condition nor the freshest. It's a little disheartening to see this, and I definitely advise going to somewhere else to get your fruit. The only fruit here not effect by this is the sealed up, cut fruit. Don't get me wrong, this location isn't the worst in the world. It's just not really my favorite. read more

I recently discovered that this Jewel has ceased to carry any brand of recycled-content paper napkins. They sell recycled-content paper towels and recycled-content bathroom tissue, but no recycled-content napkins. Annoying and dumb. read more

This is my last post for 2018 and I have seen some great customer service today. The gentleman who was collecting carts was very nice he took.my cart and told me he would load my things so I wouldn't get soaked since it's a rainy New Year's Eve and I was on my way to work and said thank you for shopping at Jewel. The cashier was really sweet and even said thank you for shopping at Jewel and have a happy new year. I don't see this kind of customer service at the locations near my house since the three Jewels seem to hire too many young high school and early college age kids. There is not a lot of unnecessary talking unlike the locations near my house. It's very clean and customers are courteous to you by not tying up aisles arguing with people on the phone and they're in and out. Great location to come to and shop at. read more

Update: I love the new Starbucks located inside and the TCF bank is great place to get quarters to do your laundry. One stop shop!

Went here for a flu shot with my special needs son on Monday, Oct. 14. Filled out two lengthy health forms only to have the pharmacist tell me my insurance doesn't cover flu shots. Went home, called my insurance. My insurance DOES cover flu shots. The pharmacist didn't return my driver's license. Left me a message saying if I came back for it that same day, it would be in the pharmacy. If I came back the next day, it would be in Customer Service. I came in the next day. It was NOT in Customer Service. Had to wait 20 minutes for the pharmacist to arrive and give me my ID. CVS accepts United Healthcare. Osco accepts Blue Cross. They should tell you this before making you fill out forms and give your ID. read more

The store itself is fine, but the bakery itself needs some major help. I ordered a cake with a custom printed photo, and the bakery people wrote Happy Birthday on the photo, instead of next to the photo. And on top of it, spelled the name wrong. The cake was ugly, and had oversized flowers and trim all over it. Not very imaginative...you basic grandma cake with way too much frosting. I would NEVER order another cake from Jewel. The bakery department needs a creativity makeover! The people working in the bakery department seem like they hate their job. read more

This is the worst Jewel I've ever been to. Literally everything I pick up is expired. I'm not taking like expired a couple of days ago but rather like months or a year ago! The store is filthy! I never see people working. All the shelves were empty and horribleeee customer service. I am so disappointed. It is a shame because it is a nice neighborhood. Since the manager can careless, I won't be stepping foot in there ever again and will tell everyone I know what I witnessed. read more

Pretty decent Jewel-osco. Overall it was clean and I was able to find everything I needed. Not much more you can ask for.

I tend to judge food as worth the calories and not worth the calories. I am not a big fan of the Jewel bakery, in particular the cakes, pies and cookies. I just had a cupcake that I was so looking forward to as I don't often indulge, and it was so not worth the calories. Driest cake I think I have ever eaten. read more

I needed a "smash cake" for my son's first birthday. When I called and spoke with the cake decorator, she was knowledgeable and accommodating, and when we picked up the cake from the bakery, I could not believe what a beautiful job they did to accommodate the theme of the birthday (Star Wars) with dark blue and red with stars and planets. For a small 5" cake. They did beautiful work for a fraction of the cost of most bakeries out there. Thank you for helping us make our son's birthday special. read more

Best Jewel, and I am not a huge Jewel Osco fan. Blows the Deerfield location out of the water. Clean and well stocked. LOTS of organic and natural choices, plus a decent produce department. Good parking, and a clientele that seems to always return the carts to the corral. Yay for no dings in my car, and polite fellow shoppers. read more

There are a few grocers in the area but I find that this Jewel location has the best prices, but more importantly, the best produce. We go out of our way to shop here. Plus, the booze selection is mad crazy! read more

I love this jewel osco. Despite that it's kind of close to another area, doesn't mean it's not great. There isn't as many fruit flies At this one compared to others and they have a great deli and meat department. I definitely recommend this place because of the hours and it isn't too busy. read more

I know stores are cutting down on staff but to cut down on customer service is not a good idea. Also might want to put someone who cares. An example...what color is the jewel brand 2% milk cap ( most makers use blue). Answer from customer service person ,"I don't know I don't buy it". Mariano's might be farther away but I think it will be better. read more

This place is supposed to be a place of awesome foods and choices but. It's not I can't find anything and the employees are very rude to me and everyone else. They never have the right chips and they always carry knock off products. There is always a employe watching making sure I don't do anything which is stupid and half of the time the fruits and vegetables are not always fresh and look very gross. I am not coming back here again. read more

Don't order a baby shower cake from here. They only have one design with a plastic stork on it so I ordered it. Then they couldn't find it so they put yellow baby booties on it without notifying me until I picked it up a few hours before the shower. They did give a discount on the cake but overall it was very disappointing. Won't be ordering a cake from here again. read more
