My husband and I went to this Jewel-Osco in Glenview to get a few staples. We needed apples, bananas, milk, and a few other things. Everything was easy to find and at a reasonable price. The restroom was nice and clean. The only checkout that was available was the self checkout. I highly recommend the Jewel-Osco in Glenview! read more

The shelf heights are ridiculously, unbelievably too high to the point of being dangerous. This store is clearly not designed for short people, older shoppers, or people with disabilities. I had to ask for help just to reach a basic item, and even then, the employee (a very tall man) had to literally climb the shelves to get it down for me. That is not normal, not acceptable, and not safe for anyone; customer or worker. If your staff has to scale your shelving like a ladder, your store is poorly designed and hazardous. Someone is going to get hurt if they haven't already. This level of inaccessibility is embarrassing in 2026 and shows a total lack of care for your community. Do better, Jewel. This is unacceptable. read more

The deli is a disaster. I was there a couple days ago; me and another customer were waiting. There were four employees working behind the counter, all of whom completely ignored us. i've been to Jewel for 40 years Arlington Heights Mount Prospect rolling Meadows all have been great places to go wonderful people. I go to the Northbrook one and they're all freaking. Horrible I mean horrible telling me. I'm doing something wrong that I've done for 40 years telling me I'm wrong. Jewel management has ruined Jewel. Having to carry your phone to get food 'on sale' or at reduced prices ONLY IF YOU USE THE JEWEL APP is cumbersome and time-consuming. Shop on-line before you go to the store.....that is ridiculous. and it is a rip-off to everyone who doesn't know how to use it. Young people who are very savvy with tech hate this process that some 'brilliant' person thought would be clever. STOP BEING CLEVER. If there is a sale item, just ring it up that way. Sometimes change is just stupid. You are losing in this market. Get with it. read more

I go to Jewel for their freshly squeezed orange juice. Now Jewel is trying to squeeze us for more money for this item. They have eliminated the 32 oz container, and now sell the same item in a 15 oz container for about the same price. i think I will get my juice at Marianos where I hope they still sell the 32 oz size for a price about the same as Jewel's 15 oz. Don't the marketing gurus at Jewel realize that they are going to lose customers by this trickery? read more

This Jewel-Osco location has THEE most incompetent management team. A rather simple service I've had done at multiple locations they couldn't be bothered with attempting thus learning in the process. Extremely lackadaisical. After my interaction with the GM Chris, Caitlyn, and customer service cashier I felt like I just had a lobotomy. Only one brain cell being used between them. Don't go here... save your time and drive to the Waukegan rd location. read more

It's sushi Thursday yummy. This store is clean nice to shop in and many of the employees have been working for jewel for years. The reason I mentioned the sushi is because it taste better then Mariano's on Wauken rd and Willow road and much better then Whole Foods on WAukegan road ( which is also $2 more expensive then other stores). I left my iPhone in a cart and the worker turned it in. That's true kindness. Their bakery department can decorate cakes beautifully to funny and of course their fried Chicken is good. read more

This is my go-to Jewel when I am working at the office, since it is only a few blocks from my work, and for the record, this is a compilation review of multiple visits - and not just one experience: Overall, this grocery is clean and generally well-stocked when I am (usually) there in the early morning (again, on the way to the office), but I find that you need to be patient and often have to ask loudly for assistance while the deli and bakery staff is focused on other AM prep tasks (keeping their eye off the counter / people needing their help with obtaining deli offerings or asking a question i.e. will an everyday item be in stock today - or will the display be freshened today?). At the bakery today, I bought what was labelled as freshly packaged donuts (dozen), and they were, once opened, stale, stale, stale - obviously baked a day or two before and packaged as 'freshly made and packaged') - seriously, the donuts were awful!!! I called the store directly, once my office co-workers and I tried two of these stale messes, and I only got a 'you can bring them back for a refund' quick answer when I really also wanted to ensure that in the future, can I count on these being correctly labelled? Or, if they are old, why not offer a discount as SOP???? To pay full price for day-old donuts, clearly mis-marked at today's date (reinforcing alleged freshness) is inexcusable and frankly unethical. Also, it's hit or miss when you check out in the early AM, as some of their cashiers are excellent (efficient and quick), and some are slower than molasses. And this is a pet peeve of mine, the slow cashier will often gently slide your bag(s) of groceries a mere inch from her, requiring you to stretch almost over the entire checkstand to reach them. When I experience this, I have started to ask for a closer push because: a, I don't want to have to stretch far over the counter at something that should be moved much closer to me; b, be forced to potentially touch other parts of the cash stand which could have COVID remnants or other germs that I am careful to avoid. Lastly, check your receipt or be more proactive and ask if the register accepted your Jewel Account in order to receive the proper points on your purchases; I always type in my phone number versus carrying yet another card with me. Often, I put in my correct phone number, but the register was offline, and my purchases were not documented - earning points on my account. The last time this happened (after checking my receipt at the office), I called the Jewel Corporate #, and they reinforced that the register was offline, and the store didn't validate my purchases on my account. With exceptional customer service, corporate gave me some bonus points based on confirming my receipt purchases. Overall, it's hit or miss on a good or poor experience here, and be forewarned that some of their labelled items are misrepresented. read more

I am writing due to my anger regarding the treatment of Khaled Alayi at your store in Glenview, IL. People with special needs are very near and dear to my heart; my brother has special needs. I have no tolerance for anyone using the r-word as a hate crime. I am so disturbed that he was fired after 14 years of hard work and dedication at his career. Jewel should protect their special needs workers better! This is not ok and I will share the news articles with all of my friends and family and recommend them not to shop at Jewel until this is resolved. At a time like this we need humanity and kindness! For your innocent worker to be harassed multiple times by the same man any kind of reaction from Khaled should be understood. I recommend counseling for all your employees be provided for working during a pandemic. It is because of people like them working on the front lines that the world can continue to function. They are risking their lives, health and safety for us all. read more

Workers are incredibly rude. It's kind of bizarre. I've come 1.5 + before closing to find many of the aisles are blocked with employees stocking and sorting merchandise. I once took a few steps into one of these aisles (without even trying to pass them or go very close), and they both turned around to glare at me. Generally, they are especially rude within the final 2 hours of store hours. I tried to purchase a few items about 30 min before closing and I was heading to self checkout when an employee called out from a checkout lane, "Hey! Here! You can't see that there's only one register open now?" & i apologized. He then pointedly slammed some of my items as he scanned them. i still told him to have a good night and he rolled his eyes !! there's also just generally a passive aggressive vibe from the employees. I'm seriously afraid to ask for assistance because of how irritated they behave every time i say anything to them! I avoid them the whole time i shop. not a. good vibe read more

I had gone to this Jewel since I was younger and it is disappointing that this location fired a special needs employee. Luckily he did find a better job elsewhere but there's no way you could justify firing him to begin with. Especially since he was telling an anti-masker (who had harassed him prior) that he *has* to wear a mask. This Jewel genuinely needs to sort their management out so this doesn't happen again. read more

Hard to get excited about a grocery store which I'm likely only to enter on a as needed basis which is the reason for only 3 stars. Additional reasoning behind the lower marks have to do with not being able to get over an issue that happened a couple of months back when a long standing much beloved employee with special needs, after enduring months of relentless verbal and emotional abuse, was fired. I appreciate they're policy of hiring folks with special needs and was appalled by this event. While there a couple of days ago, the cashier seemed a little annoyed by the constant talking of the bagger she was working with. However, on my most recent visit, my cashier was perfectly nice...exceptionally so. I usually go to the Jewel in Highland Park for all my kosher needs and it would be nice if this Jewel carried more kosher products (meats, prepared salads, and bakery items). I mostly find that there is enough staff on hand to answer questions, help find items, and keep the lines to check out short enough. read more

Clean, well stocked, produce looks good. Why the bad rating? The problem? The service. I went in this morning to buy essentially one thing (yes, was also going to grab a few other items...). Store was virtually empty due to the early hour (great as I only had a few minutes), but when the person at the deli keeps walking back and forth in front of you for 5 minutes refusing to help you (yes outright refusing) until I finally seas able to ask if they even had what I needed, which they didn't..... I tried to get attention on the service issue by calling back but no manager would make the time to talk on the phone with me. They simply didn't make the time. Drove out of my way to my usual Jewel and was in and out in less than 5 minutes with multiple staffers helping me as we chatted and had a great start to our day. Go to a Jewel where the staff wants you there - trust me on this. read more

Employee named Emsada yelled at me because I didn't want to wait in her because she was coughing. I switched lines. She yelled at me from her register that she isn't sick and has allergies. I understand people are stressed, but this woman should not be yelling at people because they want to be safe. read more

Where to start with this scathing one star review? And what would justify the appointment of only one star? I would have to say that first I started this review and drafted it because I had to stop and think of what my actions were accomplishing with the rating of this store. Was there a vindictive pulse running through me after having been accused of changing prices on an item to get a cheaper price? Or am I writing this one star review because I had to walk back to the item 2 times down the aisle with 3 kids in tow to show both cashier and manager where the item was retrieved and the price point that clearly stated the item was on sale? Overall, is it even worth writing this review to make clear that customer service and policy were first put aside to accuse then have me show proof that I truly should not have to pay an additional .79cents on a pen? Hell yes. I am going to write this review to reflect that I took the time and decided to spend my money in a store who advertises customer service and quality items, thus the justification for overly priced items, and the injustice that was served to me when I noted that the cash register did not scan the item at sale price. I am going to write about the ordeal that ultimately took out 20 minutes of mine and my kids' time. Which really should have only been a run in-and-out of maybe 5 minutes. Don't get me wrong I know where and how to score a deal on the items I needed. My goal was to take the kids, run into the OSCO part of the store of Jewel-Osco, and buy (1) notebook (spiral), (1) pilot pen (fav brand-suitable to my writing style), and (3) hallmark gift cards. Then continue on to the restaurant and have my kids run amok in the play yard while I journal/write b-day greetings. Unfortunately, prior to leaving the house I left without my writing materials, and instead of heading back home, I figured a small expenditure of $$ justified the rash decision-making, in completing my goal while kiddies were on to adventures at the golden arches. But 'twas not to be the case, as I had to be accused of placing the item under the sale price point, and then had to show the cashier and manager, twice, where said item came from. So no,I do not have a vindictive side wanting to come out. It's more like I should expect more from a company that prides itself on customer service and the workers employed. If said item does not ring up on sale and it is clearly marked on sale( in advertisement) then item should be free (up to one item-per Jewel-Osco policy) I wasn't even complaining for that. I only wanted to spend the amount that was stated on the price point hanging above the item. And only after disgruntled looks between cashier and manager and ultimately young toddlers becoming inpatient was the pen price changed in the register. Yeesh! I know I am going to make it a point not to patronize this store. Which I do. I rely on mom and pop stores for my groceries, and buy my "Osco" type items elsewhere. read more

Actually, there are no great differences between this Jewel-Osco and any other large-ish suburban Jewel stores. All of the stores have similar products, layouts, graphics, pricing, checkouts, parking, and procedures. There are occasional differences in some of the products sold, depending upon the demographics of the neighborhood. The Highland Park store has a kosher deli and large assortment of kosher foods on the shelves, while "Judenrein" DuPage county has only a token assortment of such products. I live about 3/4 mile from this store, which was opened in 1978 and serves as the "anchor" of the Plaza del Prado strip in Glenview. The store is immaculate and it does a great job reflecting the mixed, but upscale, demographics of Glenview and Northbrook. I have patronized this store since it opened, and I can count on my fingers the number of times I saw somebody paying with food stamps or Snap cards. The people working the store are friendly, well-trained, and willing to help. Generally, waits at the customer service counter are minimal; and the people working there really try to satisfy the customer, and go out of their way to find "missing" products and accept returns and spoiled fresh foods. Checkout lines are usually fast-moving, and the automated lanes are efficient, provided you know what you are doing and you don't have coupons or special issues. On the negative side, being a Jewel, their prices are significantly higher than most of the other supermarkets in the area - probably because of their higher overheads (unionized workers, higher standards of store aesthetics, personal services, etc.). Frankly, I don't shop there a lot even though they are near me because I am very cost sensitive. But if you are the type of person who values good service and orderliness above other factors, you would love this store. read more

I heart Jewel. It has always been there for me, in good times and bad. I've had such good times at this Jewel, from running in to buy cigarettes for my mother with a note when I was a child, to drunken impulse purchase and consumption of entire boxes of chicken nuggets at four in the morning. It's always clean and has a good selection of items. It can be a bit expensive but it's not that bad, really. The only issue I've ever had here is that stupid Glenview thing of not allowing sales of liquor after ten, or whatever it is. But I guess that's not Jewel's fault, is it? There is not a Jewel nearby my new house and that makes me sad. I had a coworker whose second job was working at this Jewel. I hope she's not working there anymore. read more

This Jewel is remodeling everything. They just remodeled the store and put in a new liquor section. As well as a new parking lot. You can find sushi at this jewel along with other unique offerings. This jewel participates in the new savings program. The lunch meat here is very good along with the french bread from the bakery. The staff here is pretty helpful and I have never had a difficult time here. They have a Red box outside that is usually not very busy. Horrible customer service! Rude meat guy didn't want to go in the back to get more boneless chicken breast. Put the wrong product tag on it so it checked out wrong and I got overcharged. The customer service person was even ruder and made me feel like I was responsible for the error. Grabbed my phone from me (during Covid) to see if I had a sale offer which I did. She was so incompetent it took her 15 minutes to figure out how to credit me correctly. Most painful experience at a grocery store I've ever had. I'll never go back there. read more

The place has what I need. 'Nuff said. I worked here for a summer when I was 16. Is it kind of discerning that some of the same people still work there 10 years later? I have been shopping in the Jewel Osco Glenview store on Pfingsten for a long time and usually have a good experience. This grocery store is clean and friendly. A good assortment of groceries. The team members are very helpful and the prices are average.

Okay so I go to the bathroom and they don't have a door on the accessibility stall. I was really happy I wasn't in need of my wheelchair.

Great food, friendly staff. Definitely recommend coming to this jewel because of the friendly employees and freshness of food

Overlooked grocery store, better than what I think most people think of it. They are spending money on the store which is overdue. Generally in stock -- better than most retail stores. Produce is pretty good, slightly better than Mariano's which is opening many stores in the area with much higher prices. Meat counter is small with quality also slightly better than Mariano's but also with lower prices. Health and Beauty prices very good -- generally better than CVS/Walgreens, on a few items that I have comparison shopped less than Target. At check out they employ people with special needs as baggers -- only business (or any company for that matter) that seems to care about these people. Says something about the values of the company which probably impacts other decisions they make that impact the quality of the fresh products they provide, vendors they work with, sanitation, etc. read more

I can't believe I'm rating a grocery store, but I feel like this location of Jewel deserves an A+ for their service. I tend to do my grocery shopping either on Monday or Friday nights. Every single time I have been in there they ask me if I need help with my groceries, etc. Also, if there is someone in front of me in line, it goes by quickly (unlike the dreaded Wal-Mart lines that take 30x longer than they should.) Jewel's prices are so-so. This location's produce section is pretty good. My only beef is that I wish they had a bulk seed section.
