Ken was quick to acknowledge my request, and he let me in. There's a $25 diagnostic fee deposit, which goes toward the repair. Which, in my case, means soldering the cable back to the pin connector. Paid with a CC, and he asked for my contact and told me he would call me when it's ready. The next day, he called to tell me it's ready. And violaaaa, my record player works again! Our TV is a 65-inch Sony Bravia (model XBR-65X850F) that we bought in 2018, and it has already been with us for eight years. When it broke down, we hesitated over whether to buy a new one or have it repaired. After a quick search on Yelp, we found Mr. Gao's information. He replied immediately after we messaged him and came to our house the very same day to inspect it.His initial diagnosis was a faulty mainboard. To be completely sure, he took both the mainboard and the power board back with him for a more detailed diagnosis. To make a long story short, two weeks later, he returned with a newly purchased replacement board, installed it back into my TV, and successfully fixed it! Since the boards for the 850F model are discontinued and no longer available on the market, he had to buy an 850G board as a substitute and modify it slightly to make it compatible with my TV. I am not professional enough to understand the exact technical details, but I am certain it took considerable time and specialized knowledge to pull off! I found the repair cost to be very fair--around 40% of what I originally paid for the TV. Some people might not find it worth it, but I am so glad I can keep using this TV instead of scrapping a perfectly working LED screen and creating a massive piece of electronic waste.

On a Saturday of a Holiday Weekend (Labor Day). He came to our house to diagnose our 77 inch Sony TV, removed a few suspect boards to repair or replace and told us it can take up to 5 days to repair if he didn't have the parts. To ensure that we knew what to expect. He called us several hours later that same day to let us know that he found a fault that he repaired and updated the firmware on the logic board. Worst experience I've ever had with electronic repair services…read more Horrible communication, owners do not diagnos your parts when they say they will, and even claimed when I came to get my unrepaired item back, they didnt know where it was and I would have to come back weeks later just to get my item back. 2 weeks after I originally dropped off my item, and many unanswered phonecalls, they finally answered, and asked me if I had a DVI to HDMI cord so they could actually do a diagnosis that they never did. I understand that some businesses may or may not have parts they need, but I find strange that not only they asked me for the part, but the fact that a electronic repair biz like this doesnt have basic stuff like input cords for electronic displays for something simple like a diagnosis. Something else I found frustrating is that they are often closed during their listed operation hours, and after constantly going back and forth to their store, it took yet again, another series of eventually answered phonecalls, they finally answered to call in at a certain time to let the owner know to open the store! To be fair, its an independent business and I understand these owners have to run around a bit to do their job, but they definitely should consider either removing their biz hours or just straight up make their services on call, or anything to make their service a bit more reliable. 2 stars only because I eventually got my stuff back, and got a refund for my never recieved diagnosis.
