Ken was awesome! Had to bring my record player here because I accidentally pulled too hard on one of the inner cables on the tone arm while replacing my cartridge and the pin broke. Figured I just needed to get it soldered. Came here during lunch, and at first, I thought it was closed because they didn't have lights on. But there's a sign on the door that states to call ahead and to wear a mask. Ken quickly picked up my call, heard my issue, and told him I'm outside. Ken was quick to acknowledge my request, and he let me in. There's a $25 diagnostic fee deposit, which goes toward the repair. Which, in my case, means soldering the cable back to the pin connector. Paid with a CC, and he asked for my contact and told me he would call me when it's ready. The next day, he called to tell me it's ready. And violaaaa, my record player works again! Went to Alpha Electronics with my Technics power supply/receiver and a Technics CD player. I had went to other shops in the area that I live in, and was told parts weren't available, and that neither piece of equipment could be repaired. One of my colleagues found Alpha on google and even though it was in Norwalk which is at least 10 to maybe 15 miles away from my home, I decided to take a chance, and I don't have any regrets. As soon as I met Ken he told me that parts were in fact still available and he was quite confident that he could find anything that I was going to need. Ken and his technicians did a fantastic job at repairing my equipment. Never had a problem finding parts for a 40 year old system. The price was reasonable and fair, and the system hasn't sounded this good in years. I had purchased a turntable from goodwill a vintage technics turntable. I got it for casual listening, nothing crazy not going for an audiophile setup. Upon arrival I noticed the platter wasn't spinning, I did a yelp search for turntable repair and Alpha Electronics was at the top of this list (for good reason). Dropped it off about 30days ago. And just picked up today. I got an estimate in about 3 weeks and the unit was repaired less than a week after I approved. Pricing is relative. If you want to repair a special unit with that warm sound, this is the place to go. It's a busy but small shop. Be patient. The staff is super friendly but busy. UPDATE: I sincerely dread doing this, but unfortunately, I've been left with no other choice but to update my initial (obviously premature) review. You see, I made the mistake of posting the aforementioned review within minutes of plugging in my receiver, which I had just brought home. Believing everything looked good, I went on Yelp, and proceeded to express my gratitude for what I thought was a job well done. However, my elation was short-lived, and it didn't take long for the unit to shut down intermittently (just as it had done before bringing it in for service). I contacted Ken to let him know the unit was "doing it again". To his credit, Ken was gracious, and asked me to bring the receiver back to him. Well...that was more than nine (9) months ago, not to mention the dozens of phone calls to Ken inquiring about my receiver, only to be told each time that he was still "troubleshooting" the issue, and to give him more time. Well...I finally got the long awaited call last Wednesday (5/1/24), letting me know that the issue had been resolved. We agreed on a day Friday (5/3/24) for me to pick up my receiver. Today is Sunday, (5/5/24), and I just fired up the receiver, thinking I would soon be enjoying my sweet sounding Yamaha CR-2040 once again (based on Ken's assertion that the problem had been fixed). Well, much to my chagrin, it didn't take long for the exact same issue (shutting down intermittently) to resurface. Frankly, I am not willing to hand my receiver over to Alpha Electronics, and have it sit in their shop for another nine months - I'm done with Alpha Electronics, and am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star. read more

Ken and his team of technicians are amazing! I purchased a piece of vintage audio equipment (Marantz 2215B) that needed service. The all of the lightbulbs inside needed to be replaced and more importantly, the left channel was omitting less sound than the right channel. After calling a slew of different repair shops, I decided to take my unit to Alpha Electronics. All of the other shops were asking for a diagnostic fee of $80.00. Ken and his team will charge you $25.00 for the diagnostic fee, and that $25.00 will go towards the service of the repair, should you decide to move forward. Ken and his team brought my unit back to factory setting, and he ensured that I was satisfied with the aesthetic of the unit before I took it home. He actually suggested against the LED Lightbulbs in the unit, but I actually preferred them so he installed the lightbulbs of my choosing. He brought back to life my vintage magnavox imperial record player. I did have to disassemble it my self because the piece is too large. Hello everyone! Alpha Electronics wow. I was doing some searches in maps looking for electronics repair I kept seeing listings for car stereo install, computer repair, cellphone repair and so on. I almost went to what looked like a warehouse in my area that looks like they repair Tvs and computers. Glad I didn't. I seen a listing for Alpha Electronics. On a Saturday I took a drive to Norwalk to see for myself what type of electronics AE worked on. I don't know how I missed the pictures on yelp of vintage receivers.(discovered those after my visit to AE) I needed my Yamaha R-700 receiver fixed. Upon arriving to a 70's looking strip mall I find AE. Unbeknownst to me is that an appointment is needed to have service done. I was met by Ken Lam lol asked if I had an appointment. No. I enthusiastically expressed to him that I would gladly like to make an appointment. Im standing in the store front area all around me vintage electronics as far as the eye could see. This is the place I had been looking for for well maybe since I was 16 i'm 44 now! Ken tells me after checking his schedule that he has a few minutes before his next appointment (awesome). I pass over my blanketed Yamaha R-700. I know by what I'm seeing there in his place of business that my receiver is in good hands. We talk I tell him my concerns ken says not a problem. I pay the reasonable diagnostic fee that later applies to service. Two weeks later I get a call. All fixed returned to factory specification! Thank you Ken. Great service! They're working by appointment only during COVID and are very good about returning phone messages. As far as I could tell there were only two people working and their office is packed to gills, so they are very busy. I took my old Pioneer receiver in for repairs and a tune up. They were very up front about pricing. All said and done it took about three weeks. Again these guys are super busy, but I am very pleased with the results.
