This meal was disgusting and it made me cry how poor the cheese was because that I give one star

My main reaction after eating here was the feeling that it needed better cleanliness standards. Our party was seated on the patio and several flies kept buzzing around our table, which was annoying. The chips that were brought out were pieces from the bottom of the bag. The food was only so-so, not terrible but too salty for my taste and very few healthy options. Waiter that we always see is the worst. Can you say no CUSTOMER SERVICE. Literally, every time we order he never listens to the order completely. So of course it comes out wrong. We tried come multiple times but we always seem to get him and he's ruining our like of the restaurant. He definitely in need on one on one classes. Sweetest sweet tea of any Sumter restaurant. The Mocajeté Fajitas is to die for. Our wait-people were friendly, and very attentive. I never wanted for more tea, and they kept my son awash in tortilla chips for the nicely spicy Cantina Style Salsa. If I could afford it, I'd go there every week. By afford it, I mean, if I could afford the weight gain. And, I can't. But, when I want to eat out, it's Mariachi's when I want a taste of Mexico. read more

I really hate this place now. I have been go to mariachis in sumter sc for quite some time now on a very regular basis. Say anywhere from 3-4 times a week. Tyey done lost my business. I would go hungry than eat at this establishment. Dont get me wrong: the food is always great but some of the waiters/waitresses need alot of work as far as their manners go.see: awhile back my wife and i had a awlful experience from this one certain WAITRESS. She is white with short hair and lots of tattoos on her arms . this waitress is a real smartmouth. And i promise you as a customer: you wouldn't want to deal with her either. this waitress has no business working in the restaurant business. read more

Everything was amazing and delicious! Service was fantastic! Chips and salsa was never empty - nor were our drinks! The chicken and bacon fajitas are "to die for"! I will definitely have that again! Mariachi's has great food, the manager Antonio (not sure if he's still there) needs to work on people skills, it was obvious that most of the employees did not want to be working with him. Also the drinks aren't being made right, ordered a margarita and instead of tequila I was informed they use Bacardi 151, not sure what that is but it isn't a margarita. read more

Went for lunch about 12:30 on a Sunday and received quick seating accommodations and food came out quickly. Chips were cold second time we received chips they were warm, queso dip was ok. Ordered a beef burrito it was not the best burrito I've had. Tasted microwaved/not seasoned just wasn't good. My friend ordered a steak soft taco with salad They enjoyed it. $14 total not a bad deal. Mariachi's rocks! Great prices, authentic food, quick service. On Wednesdays they do a military special which is nice, but the prices are already great. They have the best pollo ranchero in the midlands, for sure. The lunch prices seriously cannot be beat. The salsa is tasty. I have never had a bad experience here, any minor detail that had been off has always been immediately rectified. I used to live right behind this place and I am sad we had to move. Great food for a great price and VERY military friendly! My husband and I are both in the military and we very much enjoy taking our lunch breaks here whenever possible! Military receive a 20% discount and during lunch they have about 20 combos for only $3.99!! I am Mexican and grew up in a traditional Mexican household so I know authentic Mexican food when I taste it and this place is definitely authentic! I love that this place has recently started serving horchata too! The staff there is also very friendly and constantly checks on us to make sure we are doing good! read more

I have germ a loyal customer of the Mariachi's in Manning, which is fabulous. I thought this was owned by the same family. Obviously, this is under different ownership. I ordered a vegetarian quesadilla with refuted beans. The beans were cold (on a hot plate!) and the quesadilla was filled with Asian stir-fry vegetables. Yuk! I had a Christmas Eve party yesterday and we order food from Mariachi's to go. We ordered veggie, steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas, rice, beans, and cheese enchiladas. Everyone who ate the food and now its Christmas morning and everyone has food poisoning. Not cool! Mariachi's like pretty much every Mexican Cookery in Sumter are for the most part fairly bland with a lack of flavor. I admit, I am picky, mainly because after spending time in Mexico, I had realized what authentic really is, and when you've been to the top of the mountain, its kind of hard to walk to the top of a hill and be like "man this is the best thing ever!".. so with that being said, I have sampled all of the Mexican Restaurants in town, and none of them really have food that says "Ole!!" but I can also say that Mariachi's like its cousins San Jose's and Angles have some things that do stand out amoungst eachother... some would say its the salsa... but to me runny tomato sauce with spices in it isnt really Salsa!..but on occasion, I have found it to be flavored well to compliment the chips. The biggest offense to these local joints I have found is a lack of what I call "base flavor"... as in any cuisine that would be classified as "traditional" there are usually base ingredients and spices that accompany it, and I have yet found any such flavors attached to the foods here... such as Adobo or Achiote, garlic, cilantro, Epazote, or a good Mole, etc... what I taste are quickly put together items that have little flavor at most times ... the same can be said for "their"(meaning most of the local mexican places here) rice, which isnt cooked well most times and has little after flavor and the Frijoles(re-fried beans) which are bland... believe me if you had real frijoles, you'd know what I'm talking about here...but look, instead of bashing these places, what do they do that is good... well you get what you pay for!.. they all usually serve sizeable portions for cheap and there are definately times where the food isn't all that bad as long as its not too busy, but I would say that there are real no major differnces with my thoughts about what Mariachi's has to offer over any other place in town, with the subtle differences aside being runny salsa flavors and perhaps some subtle differences in some other things as well... I do like Mariachi's layout and the ability to eat outside is nice, and Angles has that as well... angles I would say has the best rice, and sometimes frijoles.... it all just depends... but all in all, if you're looking for a place to eat chips-n-salsa, have a corona, get better than average service, and if your taste buds appreciate or are adapted to fairly minimal spice, then all of these places in town including Mariachi's are a decent place to eat... read more

The service was appaling. As a front of house manager I am flabbergasted at how much energy the entire staff used to ignore us so throughly. My meal wasn't at all what i expected and had hoped to replace it with something else. Particularly because my sister and mom's meals were very good. But after the food was dropped off the servier sat in the booth behind us to roll silver ware. He spent the next 45 min refusing to turn around and check on us. All attempts to flag any of the staff down were ignored by the manager the hostess and the other servers on shift. I was not subtle with my body language trying to flag them down. One server stood looking towards us while on his phone. Another came up asked the server rolling if he needed help and blanetly ignored us. We only got service again when we stood up and went to get the server. And the server was in ear shoot the whole time. read more

We went here with a large group and more of our group showed up than expected. They did their best to accommodate us which was great! The service was fast (especially for our group of 50 people that was suppose to be 35 on a Friday night). Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. A friend recommended the Mexican Kabob which I would recommend too. $2 Margaritas too- not the best margarita I've had but definitely the best $2 margarita!
