Margaritaville on Island Drive has a lot to offer. It's in a great location 12 minutes from Dollywood, 20 minutes from Gatlinburg, and walking distance from a number of restaurants and activities on the island. Rooms were spacious, modern, and had the added bonus of being pet-friendly. They have balcony rooms which offer an overlook view of the activities on the island side or a quieter overlook of the river where you can see turtles, herons, geese, and beavers. Staff was very welcoming and helpful and ensured you had what you need. They have a great rooftop hot tub and pool overlooking the ferris wheel along with a rooftop bar. Meh. Not bad, but if it weren't for the Jimmy Buffett label, there'd be nothing spectacular about this place. Our food was decent, and the service was good; when one of steaks was undercooked, they fixed it up right quick with no questions. The place was clean, and it has cool Jimmy Buffett decorations. The music isn't just Jimmy; it's a Jimmy song, then another song, usually a country-beach song. There's a giant blender that fills with green water from time to time to look like margaritas. That said, their margaritas are almost all on the rocks; they only had a few available frozen. Cool atmosphere, decent food, but very pricey, and not as "Jimmy-like" as I expected, though there's plenty of Jimmy Buffett pictures and themes around. If you're a die-hard, check it out, but otherwise, you could probably get food just as good but way cheaper off the Island. read more

We had dinner here on a Monday night. There was about an hour wait at 7pm. They texted us when our table was open. There is indoor and patio seating. We chose 1st available and sat on the patio with live music playing. They have GF items listed on the menu and there is quite a lot to choose from. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant before, genuinely an awful time from left to right. First off, the server was terrible. I didn't get his name, but he was some blonde-haired surfer guy. I'm not sure if he was getting into the margaritas in the back but he was so off. First off, he brought us someone else's food, then brought me a plate with rice and beans that he said he'd substitute with mac and cheese, since he said that was something he could do (The rice was also basically uncooked). Upon the mac and cheese being wheeled out by a much more competant server, it turns out that the "Mac and Cheese" that I ordered was but noodles with Alfredo sauce and a poot of parmesan sprinkled on it, but unfortunately it was the freshest thing on that table. The fish tacos I ordered was basically a single fishstick (that I assumed was microwaved, since it was nore dry than a popeyes biscuit) in a mount everest of lettuce. It was barely even blackened like I asked. It was only after that, the surfer guy stumbled over to out table and took our still like 3/4 filled cups, replaced them with new ones, and asked if we wanted more water, we said no, he didn't care, he gave us more water. After the nightmare that was having the waiter ask if we wanted desert when we weren't even finished the food we were eating, we got the bill, and the "replaced" Alfredo sauce noodles were an extra almost 3 dollars, the waiter never told us this was extra and just said that it would be swapped out with the month old rice they STILL GAVE ME AND LEFT WITH ME AFTER I SAID I DIDN'T WANT IT! Also, I'm assuming that the drink refills that we didn't ask for were NOT FREE, since if not, it would be 4.50 FOR A CUP OF DR. PIBB, WHICH, WTF IS DR. PIBB EVEN? WHY AM I GETTING OFFBRANDS?!?!?! Overall, the atmosphere was loud and annoying, the service was the worst service I've ever had, and the food was the overpriced slop that I wouldn't even gove to my dog, under threat of being arrested for animal cruelty. The only reason, the ONE. SINGLE. REASON I'm not giving this a one star is the photographer was really cool and gave really great pictures. Give him a raise, fire the server. This is hands down without a doubt the worst Margaritaville location I've ever been to which is saying a lot as I have been to many of them. The first red flag was how dirty the bar top was. My husband and I needed a quick bite to eat and opted to sit at the bar to save time. Mistake. There were only two other people sitting at the bar so they were not busy but it took forever to get the bartenders attention. We should have left then. Then the bartender handed us a food menu and a drink menu, both of which were heavily soiled and sticky. We should have left then. We ordered food and took turns going to the bathroom to wash our hands. My husband said the men's bathroom was disgusting with an unknown liquid all over the floor, no paper towels, and no way to exit the bathroom without touching the dirty door handle. We should have left then. Our food came and IDK what they brought me but it was most certainly not what I ordered. When I pointed that out to the bartender he told me the kitchen was "drowning". Why? They weren't even busy! They remade my food and the order was still wrong but this time it was much closer to what I'd ordered so I ate what I could stomach of it. I say that because I'm pretty sure they made the rice sometime last week. It was terrible. We had to ask the bartender three times if he would bring our check before he did. Went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from Margaritaville--fun, laid-back, and perfect for a relaxed time. We ordered two burgers, one with fries and the other with sweet potato fries, but our order came out with onion rings and regular fries instead. Not a huge deal since everything was still tasty and we enjoyed it. Overall, I'd definitely go back for the atmosphere, the experience, and the food. read more

I really liked this Margaritaville. It is located on the Island in Pigeon Fordge and is convenient to the other stores. They also have a gift shop to get some souvenirs as well. The service was good, our waiter was quick and efficient as well as friendly. The food came out fresh and hot and looked delicious. Live music was going on when we were eating, and it was nice to eat in a peaceful place with some live music. The ambiance is really good here. Lots of decorations and things to look at and see. It has great island vides and an over the top margarita blender that fills with "booze" during the Margaritaville song. There's lots of cool decor items throughout the joint. We came in on a freezing 34° night and were seated near the front doors, which sent in a blast of cold air every time it opened. Other than that it was a fun culinary experience. We had the fish tacos, chicken tenders, grilled shrimp and fish and chips. All of them had good flavor, but they weren't great, it all needed just a bit more seasoning. I can say that I have had the Margaritaville experience and it was extremely overrated. We sat down really quick which was nice and staff got our orders in right away. The servers were on top of our entire dining experience and checked in multiple times. The drinks we ordered were ok and the food was mediocre. The fish tacos were flavorless and the salad my fiancé got was also plain. The biggest smack in the face was the bill at the end... $120 for two people. First time to the Pigeon Forge area. Establishment sits in the Island area of Pigeon Forge. There are two Margaritaville restaurants, this is the stand alone next to the Wyndham Club building. Quick to sit. Place was empty which should have been a clue but it was a little after lunch so we thought why not. Sat at the back near the bar area. Service was a bit slow especially for so few customers We ordered a spicy nacho appetizer to share as we had big dinner plans. Drinks were water and a Landshark beer. The beer arrived cool; not cold. Glass was cold but beer itself was like it had just been tapped off an unrefrigerated keg. Nachos arrived and presentation was ok. A lot of sour cream and guacamole, cheese plentiful on top but none under the first layer of chips and the amount or meat/bean was almost a joke. It took awhile to get our waiters attention (I don't fault him as it seemed he was waiting tables AND tending bar). I showed and asked our waiter for more meat which he did bring out for an additional $5. The additional meat/bean was room temperature. We started to eat it and it was just off. So we left the pile of chips and the remainder of the meat/bean concoction and paid the check. Unfortunately, within hours we were both sick to our stomachs drinking Pepto and trying not to throw up. It is very rare for me to leave a negative review, but this was a super disappointing experience. We have visited many Margaritaville restaurants in other areas but this was a one and only to this location. The restaurant was not busy at all. We walked in and went straight to a table with our two small children. It was at least 10-15 minutes before anyone even came to take our drink order and our kids were about to turn up. When our server finally arrived, I let her know we were ready to order and she appeared visibly annoyed by this. She wasn't rude per se but she was definitely not a ray of sunshine. We ordered, and I guess the food took an average time to come out but after the wait to order it felt like an eternity. I have zero issue with the fact that the meals are overpriced because I understand that to an extent you're paying for the brand and the experience. That being said - my meal was terrible. I ordered fish tacos and I didn't even think it was possible for a taco to be bland. The mango salsa was the only part that made it even edible, and even that part was underwhelming. The restaurant has the giant blender like the one in Myrtle so that was fun for our kiddos. Poor service, plus bland overpriced definitely ensures we will not visit this place again.
