We went in for late breakfast and we're promptly seated. They have a Serve Yourself coffee bar. I was a little put off by the perma-stained coffee cup interiors and after looking through a couple of them I found one that was not stained. Probably not an issue but I'm a freak about that stuff. They make their own corned beef hash which was pretty good ( though mine is much better!). Their bread selection is also pretty good in that it's all hand sliced thick. However, on that note they did not have Rye bread- which is my go-to bread. Overall a good breakfast though not a great breakfast. I was happy we stopped in as we were all hungry. read more

The atmosphere initially seems like a lax diner (pick up a mug and dispense yourself some coffee), though more modern and better put together (no bright 60s era red booths). Service on a Saturday noon seemed casual - no wait, got pointed towards a "high two-top" (waitress' words). I ordered some hot coffee and, more importantly, the chicken & waffles ($20). Now, this price point might seem more appropriate for Downtown Portsmouth or Boston, but it exists for a reason. Really good Sunday brunch with unique spin on each item. The menu is small, and each item appears to be done well. Coffee is self serve which is nice so you can grab coffee while you wait for a seat. We had the... - chicken and waffle bene: a lot of juicy chicken. The hollandaise has a light lemony flavor which balances the rest of the dish nicely. I like that they add the syrup for you (and they put a perfect amount) so your meal doesn't end up tasting like syrup. Eggs were cooked perfectly - el diablo bowl: a simple dish (eggs over potatoes) but they make it taste good. They add caramelo de onions for a nice savory flavor, balanced with pickled jalapeños (they said these were candied with sriracha, but I didn't notice a difference). Little maple-bacon bits add sweetness and crunch. The eggs have a sriracha mayo drizzled on top. Found Margaret's Kitchen on a Yelp search for breakfast while staying at Steele Hill. The bf and I sat at the bar and liked that we could watch the chef cook. We split the chicken & waffles and banana bread French toast. Coffee is self serve and really good. We loved that the eggs are organic but thats just the beginning. I watched the chef poach eggs to order and...wait for it....make hollandaise to order from scratch. Explains why the food is delicious & doesn't leave you feeling gross 20 mins after finishing your meal. Portions were generous and we ate it ALL. Don't sleep on this gem. We had a positive experience here and their menu had enough diversity to accommodate four different palates. There was also the option to add on bespoke proteins which is nice to complement things like the S'mores Waffle. They do serve iced coffees though there is no espresso machine. My son and I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food is absolutely stellar. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was house made , delicious and more than I could ever eat. Likewise the home fries and eggs were also spot on. The real stand out was the house made English muffin. They bake all their own breads and desserts. My son , the sometimes picky vegan had the same dish prepared with house made veggie hash , constructed from a fabulous medley of local produce and house made sour dough toast. I highly recommend Margaret's kitchen. It is Guy Fieri best in the nation worthy. The menu weekly is very creative with very unique specials made with a lot of Care at a gourmet level. The food is extremely fresh and the menu items are creative with a lot of unique variety but also there's fundamental basics if that's what you prefer The chicken and waffles are delicious, but I've never ever had a bad meal here and the food is so fresh and flavorful. They do pulse seating a bit so don't be surprised if you see some open tables and they tell you there's a 10 minute wait. The ambiance is comfortable and casual decor with a New England twist. Coffee is delicious too. I highly recommend a certain special called the barbecue pork and cakes. it consists of their house special smoked cheddar griddle cake with crispy pork shoulder topped with barbecue maple aïoli, two local poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce topped with some candied jalapeños and chives. What an awesome hidden gem. I've driven by for years and I am SO happy that I made it a point to finally come in. Friday 930am - super friendly staff, locals enjoying their breakfast, I sat at the bar and had the MK Irish Eggs Benedict with hollaindaise on the side. It was awesome- the home made biscuits and home made corned beef hash were both 10/10 - props all around for the cool ambiance, great vibes, and delicious food. Margaret's Kitchen is located in the former Katie Flo's space near the Mosquito Bridge in Winnisquam.  They serve up homecooked breakfast and lunch dishes in an inviting "no-frills" atmosphere. The dining area has concrete floors, comprised of high topbtabke & counter/high chair seating, table seating/regular chairs and padded seating in the front corner. A variety of old school music was playing in the restaurant. Most of the ingredients are sourced from local and regional suppliers.  Some of the breakfast dishes include organic eggs, omelettes, bennies, housecakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sammies, fresh squeezed OJ, and Wayfarer coffee. Huckins Farm (in Tilton) Maple Syrup is served here. Some lunch items include reubens, burgers, grilled cheese, sammies, baked mac & cheese, house made potato chips & pickles, salads, and soup of the day. I stopped by for brunch recently after my coworker mentioned that I should really try Margaret's Kitchen out, which opened in May 2018. I arrived here just after 1 pm and I could seat myself since the place wasn't really busy. All of the tables were already setup with silverware, napkins, and paper placemats with a schematic drawing of their kitchen. I was given a 2 sided menu with breakfast and lunch selections. I decided on the Hash N Eggs ($9.75) with Hash Browns and Cinnamon Raisin Toast and a side of Mac & Cheese ($5). The food was prepared fresh to order by the owner/chef Dustin. The portion of food was good and filling. The Hash N Eggs (in a skillet) entree with Hash browns and toast was served on a big plate and the Mac & Cheese served in a small soup bowl. The corned beef was shredded with chunks of potatoes & grilled topped with 2 organic fluffy scrambled eggs. The shredded hash browns were grilled brown and not greasy. The slices of Cinnamon Raisin Toast were thick with butter on the side. The Mac & Cheese was very rich and dense with soft elbow pasta and a mix of American, cheddar and parmesan cheeses, light dash of parsley. As I was enjoying my brunch, John Denver music started playing and Dustin could be heard crooning "Country roads, take me home," in the kitchen. My country singer friend Lyssa sings this John Denver song at her shows. Haha! Dustin introduced himself to me after I finished brunch. I also drove by this place during the week and decided to stop here on the weekend. Overall, I had an excellent meal at Margaret's Kitchen with fresh and tasty food! Another co-worker of mine actually lives in Sanbornton and did not know about this place. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch. read more

This place is amazing! I wasn't expecting there to be a wait, but put our name in and waited in the car for 15-20 min then came back in for a delicious breakfast. They were able to accommodate my severe dairy allergy and gluten-free diet beautifully, letting me know which options on the menu there were for me (at least 3 to 4 options for me to pick from, all sounding absolutely delicious). Went with the classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and substituted the toast (GF toast has dairy) for hash browns. Great service, great food, cozy atmosphere, and completely worth the wait! read more

We came to New Hampshire for a long weekend and ate breakfast here every day. It was so good we didn't even bother trying anywhere else! All the food is excellent. Over the course of our stay we tried the biscuits and gravy, pancakes, chicken and waffles, western omelette, hash browns, home fries, and "mk goes bananas". This little hidden gem has a very cute menu, with unique takes on classic foods. Their chicken and Waffles is colossal! Two organic poached eggs atop two deep fried chicken breasts atop a waffle, covered in a light hollandaise sauce ! This sauce is so tasty and light!! But if you like your waffle with syrup only, ask for it to be served on a separate plate or it will be drenched with hollandaise - ironically, the hollandaise-syrup mixture was pretty good - but I like dry waffles :) The chicken was super juicy in contrast to its very crispy breading, which had great flavor - crumbled a bit when cutting it but still really really good. Home potatoes or hash browns were also an option with the meal - they were well cooked. Coffee is available to self serve so get as much and get it as often as you like! Lots of drink choices with your meal This was just an overall wonderful experience. Ill come back if ever in NH again - and I'll tell my local friends to check it out. read more

My husband and I were road tripping from Boston up to this neck of the woods and found this breakfast place. The food was just like your gramma made on weekend visits, robust and filling. We had a short wait and while we waited I had a cup of the "self-serve" coffee, which was still self-serve once you sat down. If I could give this place a zero I would. Went for the first time with two friends who had never been here either. The only positive thing I can say is the waitress was nice, but she was a bad server. Hold on to your hats ... slow to take our order, when the food was ready it sat under the heat lamp (right in front of us) for over 10 minutes, one order came out wrong, request for crispy bacon came out black (literally black), grilled English muffin came out ungrilled/untoasted, and we never had our server come back over to ask how things were - we had to flag her down. When asked to have a new order of bacon, it never came. Sadly, to top it all off, they charge $3.25 for a cup of weak self-serve coffee and $4.00 for a small glass of orange juice. Our total, for breakfast at a little local not-very-good joint was over $50. We knew it would be over $30; we knew the prices, but WOW. I love this place. OMG, the food is spectacularly good. They are famous for their Chicken and Waffles. While some restaurants give you just that--fried chicken on top of waffles, Margaret's Kitchen goes way beyond. Perfectly seasoned, delicious boneless chicken breasts breaded and fried to perfection atop a Belgian waffle, topped with two poached eggs and luscious hollandaise and local maple syrup, served with either home fries or hash browns. The Hash Omelet is made with their own corned beef hash--if you can call it that. I call it delicious shredded corned beef with a few other things thrown in. My husband tried that. OMG delicious! I have not been able to get past the Chicken & Waffles on the menu, but I hope to try the biscuits and gravy some day. They serve Wayfarer's coffee (self serve, no waiting!) in large coffee mugs. When your favorite local chef visits to have a good breakfast, you know you're in the right place. It's a little hard to find (set back from the road, but right next to a local greenhouse), but well worth seeking out. read more

What an amazing experience. We had a 15min wait but sooooo worth the wait! We couldn't believe the portions as you can see in the pictures. The chicken and waffles were out of this world! I wish I could've given this place an honesty try, however the wait staff was so unfriendly and rude that we never got a chance to sit. We did come in with a few larger parties, and just my boyfriend and I were waiting to be sat. Off the bat they were abrasive and rude with our group. There was a 2 top available next to one of our larger parties however we were told we weren't allowed to sit there. We waited for an hour and they never sat the 2 top in question. They moved around some of the people sitting at the bar to go to a larger table, and an individual walked in and sat at the bar without waiting. I asked if I could sit at the bar as we were next on the list and the waitress laughed and said, "oh those aren't for you".
