So sketchy that they have more than one Yelp page. These people are absolute scum. We came to view an apartment, and Rowena did not show up. We called her, and she had forgotten the appointment, so we waited for her to drive over. We toured the apartment, and before leaving, we told her our income and credit scores, and she indicated that should be fine. She acted nice, but it was only an act. When we went to apply, we had to pay $28 per adult, and I had forgotten my credit file was locked. When I went to unlock it, they informed us that they would have to charge BOTH of us AGAIN to run our credit file. Um what??? That makes NO SENSE. But, because she had indicated our income and credit scores would be okay, we bit the bullet and paid AGAIN. Then she called me to say she didn't like a particular debt on my credit - I have been approved for financing a BMW and our scores are good enough for a mortgage - not great but good enough - and she has the nerve to nitpick over a credit card. The fact that we included a recommendation letter from our previous landlord saying we paid faithfully for over 3 years didn't matter. She was rude and actually said the words "Yeah, the thing is, I'd love to rent the unit out, but we're not that desperate." BITCH. She was so judgmental and rude as soon as she decided we were not good enough to rent to, EVEN AFTER WE TOLD HER our scores and income and she said that was fine. We would not have paid TWICE to apply to this place if we thought they would nitpick like this. Of course you're not "DESPERATE" when you scam people who are just trying to find a place to live. I don't understand how people aren't ashamed to be hoarding housing especially during A PANDEMIC. Absolute scumbags. Ive been living in the apt. for 1 year now and things have been great. My parents were living in an apartment for about 20 years in Honolulu. When the previous landlord ended up passing away, this "business" ended up taking over. He warned my parents to move away as soon as possible because he hated these people (they were his family) and thought they were a bunch of sketchy, greedy snakes.. and boy was he right! They failed to fix the shower in the apartment and decided to kick them out instead after renting from them for about 2 years. Up until this point, they were raising the rent every month by the hundreds despite the fact that they were living there under Section 8 from the time I was a baby. The landlord had a unprofessional way of carrying herself and was pretty vile over the phone. When they decided to evict my parents they gave them one week to vacate the property over the phone but when my parents brought an attorney into the situation, they ended up giving them more time to move out! WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THING THEY ARE!? They were trying to take advantage of my vulnerable and disabled parents! And me just coming out of high school and heading off to college when this was going on, I knew what they were doing wasn't right! They were more than happy to illegally throw my parents and little brother on the streets within a week without any written justification other than just an intimidating phone call! But at least they attempted to fix the shower while also leaving holes in the wall with tape over them for more than 2 months up until the time they forced us out. Not to mention the mold that may have caused health complications, roach infestation, neglect of the property, and causing emotional distress upon my family. These people will do whatever it takes to take your hard earned cash with little to no sympathy for your wellbeing whatsoever while also giving you sketchy and fraudulent looking invoices and "estimates" so they can withhold your entire safety deposit. Please note that this company is also not able to do business with the state as well due to not being compliant with the IRS and Department of Taxation. If you're getting evicted, make sure you consult with an attorney. Marcus & Associates are more than happy to take advantage of you and your family. Also, ask for a prorated rent if they're making you move out because they were about to charge them the full amount before my parents mentioned it after talking to an attorney. I sincerely hope this message helps some people in the future while considering this company. My roommate and I chose to live with Marcus Property for our last year of college and got treated like specs of dirt. The initial start was great and we were very content with the service. Our original landlord, Ms. Teriann was so gracious and treated us students like adults who were thoroughly interested in renting out property. As we did so, Teriann was always available and gave us all the contact information on who to call and when. Where my roommate and I first experienced a plethora of hassle was when we had no idea Teriann went on medical leave. We had reached out to her numerous times and no response, so naturally, we contact anyone we could at Marcus Property when we had some questions about possible move-outs. Not only did we have to go in-person after a number of phone calls and e-mails, we had to ask Ms. Arnette about the current situation. You would think that something like this would be addressed to tenants immediately, however we received no formal notice. Ms. Arnette as our "new" landlord treated my roommate and I with zero respect and completely acted like she owned not just the property, but us as well. Never once were we late on any payments, nor did we have any physical damages or issued with the property, but we felt completely looked down upon, strictly on a low level of expertise. As we began our move out process, there again was an issue with communication. It was hard to 1) get solidified answers from our questions out of anyone, let alone our landlord and 2) get a hold of anyone, let alone our landlord. I would hope that no other future tenants experience the lack of professionalism. I am truthfully sorry to say that this is a business that needs help, because if it is as evident as it is to college students, it must be equal for those with much more experience in this field. read more
