So far the ambiance seems great, here with the Fine Dining Society, a group of friends visit the best restaurants London has to offer, each week. It's all about the deals and offers. Places we would ordinarily skip for the price. Thursday is a good deal day we find. Anyway, back to the review,

Looking for a nice welcome to London, we had arranged a 2-Michelin Star Vegetarian Tasting Menu from Marcus We ended up being the first to arrive for the evening and there was a lingering luncheon table just being "invited" to take their continued lingering to the bar area - where there was a filled-to-capacity room full of High Tea imbibers Initially shown the meaty menu and left to peruse, it was when the waiter came back to ask about our selection that we reminded him about our special request - which had been confirmed not once but twice when securing & confirming reservations. He walked away, spoke with several of the waitstaff then seemed to realize this was not a surprise request & all was well again.....but would have been nice to have been expecting us We enjoyed the following: Amuse of cornbread w/ line emulsion & black sesame cracker w/ humus Burrata, dandelion, hazelnut, truffle Mushroom consumme, chickweed, cauliflower, cumin Tropea onion, truffle, cheese, garlic Duck egg, garlic, beet, potato puree Carrot agnolotti with pine nuts Potato terrine, mustard cream and mushroom Rhubarb, vanilla and marscapone with pistachios Toffee, peanut, chocolat noughat While we were excited about the spring truffle menu, we were not completely blown away and the wine paring was a nice compliment but next time, we might go for the less expensive Sommelier's Choice We also saw a cheese cart being offered to other tables and while we were too full from our tasting courses, it would have been nice to have been asked Dress code was a bit all over the place - from ties / jackets to jeans & polos so on the bright side, people are welcomed to dress in the attire in which they feel the most comfortable. We had elected to be on the dressier side of dressy to make it a true celebration-event. No takeaway memento - most other Michelin restaurants send patrons away with a token of their visit from food (muffins, granola) to items such as cheese knives or copies of their menu. It's obviously not a requirement but we did notice the absence.... TOTAL 2 people 3.75 hours 9 courses 2 champagnes, 2 "prestige selection" wine pairings £715 including tip

I was underwhelmed by this experience. I ordered the tasting menu but actually the best item that came was the palate cleanser in between courses, which was some sort of honey yoghurt concoction. I wish I knew what was in it. My entire table considered it the highlight of the meal, which is a bit sad for the rest of the menu. My burrata appetiser with kale, confit lemon and caramelised shallot was alright and my main of roasted cod with laverbread Welsh seaweed, oat, and Monk's beard vegetable was ok as well, but neither was particularly good. My husband had the partridge, sweetcorn and turmeric appetiser and the venison haunch, with parsnip, pickled grape and sorrel, which were better, although nothing memorable. My dessert of 70% chocolate with raspberry and buttermilk, I did not even like and I am a chocoholic. I think the emphasis at this restaurant is on artistic presentation rather than actual taste, but for me if it doesn't taste good, it doesn't matter how pretty it looks. The amuse bouches they served us were also not very good, I think one was a rather unpleasant popcorn soup and although the marshmallow dessert they gave us was beautiful, it was not really worth eating. The restaurant itself is quite glamorous and the atmosphere does make for a lovely evening. Even though I did not like my food at all, I did at least enjoy being there. I would not recommend this place though. I have been to other restaurants which may not have earned a Michelin star, but have certainly earned my heart with their culinary offerings, and this one simply did not.

A nice two Michelin star restaurant experience. The place was not stuffy and the wait staff were good. Here's what we ordered: Crab - lovely presentation and delicious Veal sweetbreads - heavy but good Halibut - perfectly cooked Native lobster - tasty Scallops - well done Yorkshire grouse - don't recommend, the taste was off and couldn't finish it. And we got a lot of matching wine and the sommelier was knowledgeable.

    Welcome treat. Small bun

4 stars. This is a nice place to bring someone for a night out. You get great service, a good meal and a great wine selection. So why not give it 5 stars? Simply because I found the food good but it did not wow me. I guess expectations were high given my great experience with other similarly ranked Michelin restaurants and what London has to offer in terms of restaurants. As I try writing down what I enjoyed the most a few days after, I am blanking out which maybe highlights what my experience here was. It was ok. I knew I had a good meal but it wasnt that memorable. When I looked at my pictures, I did remember that the tandoori flavored ribs was actually interesting. It was a clever dish that highlighted the flavors if the spice and was pretty tender. There was a dish that had truffles but I felt it was more of a show because the truffle didn't really add anything for me to that specific flavor palate. The dish was fine even without it and it really didn't elevate it or needed it.

Let's start with this statement: i have never been in a Michelin restaurant before. I loved this place. The food has been amazing and the staff was very kind. We had our dinner in the private area of the dining room (unfortunately the chef table was not available ahah). We were 15 people more or less. We had this huge table in a private room. Our room waa pretty dark and decorated with two pop art picture pretty cool. Our menu had been tailor made for us (was a special night for our company) and -sorry- but i don't remember every course we had. Basically our menu was made by 4 courses, but then the chef decided to cook other two extra menu for us! We had a lovely dish with Australian truffle, a dish with salmon that was amazing (super fresh and super tasty), a dish with burrata and apricot, a dish with cod and the dessert. Some of us had beef instead of cod. All the dishes were well looking and presented in a fantastic way Well it has been really posh and really cool!

It's a little hidden when you walk in The Berkeley. You'll notice a bar in the right and you pretty much have to walk through that to get to the shaded glass door which is the entrance to the Marcus Wareing. If you're not sure, just ask one of the employees there, and they will gladly walk you to the restaurant. The ambiance is nice and intimate. Even with big groups that were eating by me, it wasn't at all loud or anything. No great views from the windows, but who cares since you're about to enjoy some very nice fine dining here. Service was impeccable here. There were no fewer than 5 or 6 people throughout the evening handing me plates of food with a British-French accent. The maitre'd even gave me a tour of the kitchen. Now that was the highlight of my evening. I also loved the cheese cart too. They get their cheeses from La Fromagerie and there were at least 30 or so unpasterized cheeses to choose from. Too bad I can't bring these unpasterized cheeses to the states because the cheeses stood out during my visit here. Michelin 2 stars in 2012

My father was a successful restauranteur for over 25 years, so I am accustomed to fine dining since I was a little girl. Currently, I am blessed to still do it often as well as travel the world for it.. This time, London!! We were treated by my husbands Auntie who is a Londoner and loves Marcus's line of restaurant. This restaurant is so beautiful and the service is outstanding. The waiters look like actors, one looked like Jason Stathem and the other looked like a comedian, When mentioned to them they didn't miss a beat with smart comments, love it!! The front of the restaurant is used for tea time and the back is finer dining. We did the five course meal each which were so tiny but so filling!!! We also received menus signed by Marcus himself so we were excited!! Great times

I admit that I was here because of Master Chef. Marcus Wareing, the man looks like he knows what he's talking about. Fun fact, Gordon Ramsay used to be a co-owner of this restaurant (under the name Petrus). It's located in the elegant yet trendy Berkeley hotel, not far from the Knightsbridge station but most other guests seem to prefer arriving in Aston Martins. I opted for the tasting menu, and it was very well prepared. I'm sure other yelpers have written more details about each dish here, plus the menu changes constantly, so I won't review every course. The reason it's 4 star not 5 is because of two things: - The lighting: it was REALLY dark! Yes I know fine dining places are normally very dim but this was still a bit unexpected. It makes the atmosphere not as lively as it could be. - Time between dishes: There was a long pause between the appetizers and main dishes that made us wonder if anything went wrong in the kitchen. Not sure if it was a one time thing or it typically took this long. Other than that we had a great meal.

Very nice Michelin restaurant with amazing service and food. The waiters were amazing and catered to my every need and were very attentive. I had the set lunch menu which was one of the best lunches I ever had. My favorite dishes were the slow cooked egg and the lamb rump. The egg dish was one of the best I've ever had and left me amazed by both the flavor and textures. The egg was so incredibly tender and bursted with flavor, and the crunchiness of the sorrel and the sauce perfectly complemented it. The lamb was just one of the most perfectly cooked cuts of meat I've ever consumed! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for fine dining foodies!
