This is a pretty good place to eat, it's very close to MacEwan University. My boyfriend has come here before and liked their food. When I first walked in, I was slightly overwhelmed by their menu. They had so much. We ordered a bunch of things: a Beef Donair, a Crispy Chicken Burger, Waffle Fries, and a Reese's Pieces Milkshake. Everything we ordered was just fantastic. The Crispy Chicken Burger was tasty, the House Sauce on it was light and pulled everything all together. It paired well with the chicken patty. The Waffle Fries had a beautiful golden crust on them. And the texture? Chef's kiss. The fries were very good. The Reese's Pieces milkshake was tasty too, it had a thick consistency and was what I pictured when we ordered it. But for me, the star of the show was the Beef Donair. If I could only get one thing from here, it would just be this. I liked everything about it. Although I do wish they added just a little bit more veggies, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. Veggies were good, the donair was flavorful and cooked well. And that sauce? Wow. Wow, who knew how busy this place can get? I have driven past this place so many times over the years but never stopped in. We decided to try it out and it was approximately 8:30 in the evening. The parking lot is a bit tight but there's street parking all over. Once we walked in, we could smell food. It seems like a couple runs this place, the lady by the front cash and the man cooking the food. There are a few small tables inside and only one table was taken up. We checked out the menu which was posted on a wall. We had no idea what to order since the burgers, donairs and poutine all looked delicious! Even the milkshakes looked good too! I was assuming the donair was more popular so we went with that and fries. Our meal was a nice size and we almost couldn't finish it. We had a strawberry milkshake which was thick and creamy. Another dark, dreary and cold winter day in Canada resulted in some heavy cravings for comfort food. What is comfort food in Canada you ask? Poutine of course. Donair, poutine. So, I redownloaded the Uber app out of desperation and placed an order with Marco's Burgers. Surprisingly, the food arrived within half an hour. I've had bad luck with Uber Eats but this delivery worked well. The foot was hot and smelled delicious. The poutine, is always a classic though it is difficult to make this look good in a photo. Trust me, when I say it the spot. I should have gone with a classic burger. The donair was disappointing. It was extremely large and so soggy that I had to use a plate and eat it with a fork and knife. Good thing I was at home and not on the road. The good part? I have left overs for tomorrow's lunch and I can't wait to finish up the poutine...it's why I usually order a couple of options when I get take out. So I always have leftovers! The soggy donair is why I'm only giving 3 stars. Otherwise, I would have given four stars. Solid spot to eat at. We went there for lunch with a good sized group. The eat-in area accommodates groups of two to four easily. Our group was about 8 and there was only one middle table that could accommodate that. Staff was friendly. We had an egg allergy in the group and the server was unable to verify if the bread had eggs baked in it - so we (not the staff) had to call the bread supplier for the restaurant to confirm (no eggs). Lunch was a mix of foods: The #1 donair combo was tasty. The cuts of beef were very juicy and flavourful. Savory. Good balance with the house donair sauce (there wasn't too much of it) and tomatoes and onions. The burgers were good. Angus beef patties and soft buns. I don't know that I would come back for burgers as they were pretty standard. The quality was better than your average fast food joint and on par with a Red Robin type of place. Standard burger order did not come with fries. So our group split waffle and regular fries - which were also good - crispy, crunchy, and more of a standard cut fry (not thick cut). The staff recommendation the milkshake so we had a Strawberry one (there are other flavours like Orange Creamsicle and Bubble Gum), as well as a Twix Mash Up which is like a Blizzard from DQ. My husband and I came in yesterday after a very hard week and I just wanted to say those were the BEST donairs we've had in many many years, thank you so much! We will be telling our family and friends about it. The only thing is there was no cheese on my cheese donair but the donair itself was great, the service was friendly and it wasn't too busy. Ah Marcos. They've been around forever, yet still manage to keep up their great quality. This is definitely my fav donair spot in the area. The donair meat is cooked through very well and they use ACTUAL cheese, not that weird ass cheese sauce you get at some places. The pita is warm. And I love that I can get the veggies on the side when I split the donair with my carnivorous hubs. There's honestly enough veg to make a salad out of if you wanted. Their donair s are so delicious as is, I've honestly never checked if there's weird sauces or whatever like at Prime Time, cuz there's really no need for it! Their fries are good. If they're frozen, they're probably cavendish, cuz honestly they're full of flavour. I'd come here just for the fries. I still haven't tried one of their crazy poutines but I am DYING to. For something like $10 you get a ton of fries and can choose from some pretty cool poutine options like cheese sauce and bacon, Doritos, and more. I stop in here a little more frequently than I probably should. The space is smallish but there is still always a place to sit and enjoy your meal. They have tv's and there is always a soccer or hockey game on the keep you entertained. The guys behind the counter are super friendly and always do a bang up job taking and preparing your order. Now for the food, it is amazing! I've tried a lot of what's on the menu and I have never been disappointed. The portions are outrageous and I always end up over full with leftovers. This is one of the best donairs I have had in the city. They put a good amount of toppings and sauce on so it feels balanced and you don't just feel like your eating a hunk of meat. The burgers are not overly greasy but super rich and satisfying, I love their house sauce. Fries come in a large portion. There are fine, a bit too salty though. Nothing to write home about, but they did the job. The burger is huge, a two party monstrosity. It's a good burger, but messy as heck as the sauce soaks the bun heavily. Besides that it's a decent burger, but lacks that homemadiness I've come to associate with burger heaven. They deliver and open until 11pm most day, Friday and Saturday until 1pm. My assessment? It isn't on the top tier of burger places in the city. But it's a clear option in the area. I would go back. I've been eating at Marco's since it was a tiny, hole-in-the-wall, late night spot just off Whyte Ave (there's a faded, old newspaper article with a photo of the namesake Marco to the left of the order counter -- check it out the next time you're in!). I'm so glad they moved downtown around the same time I did! The portions here are huge! Unless I haven't eaten in a day or two, a jumbo donair is usually enough to last me both supper the night I order it and lunch the next day (and I'm not complaining). The fries are amazing and thick cut, but I think if I tried to eat any along side a donair I'd explode. The milkshakes are made with real ice cream, and really, it's all worth the hard-earned money. This place is small and can get busy, especially after hockey games and when bars close. We stopped by on a whim after seeing a sign advertising a lunch special. It was two donairs and two orders of fries for $15.00 which is a great deal. We'd never been before, and are always apprehensive trying a new donair place, but I'm glad we gave it a go. The service was friendly and fast. You could tell that the person serving us really loves what he does. We didn't wait long and the food was great. I would like the option to add a few additional toppings to my donair and to be asked what sauce I'd like next time. Luckily, they chose to put sweet sauce on it, which is what I would've chosen. I would definitely suggest to go here if you're super hungry! The regular size was pretty big for me to finish but the boy and I were still able to inhale them somehow. The perfect size for me probably would've been about half the size of a regular but hey that's what a fridge is for right? I loved the amount of veg in the donair that is usually lacking at other places - and they were fresh and crispy which is a huge bonus. So I decided to try Marco's. I ordered a cheese donair. She asked what veggies. I said just lettuce and sweet sauce please. To which she responded 'So no cheese?'. I said yes I ordered a cheese donair. Can I also get lettuce and sweet sauce. So I get the donair and there's no cheese on it (-1 star). At this point im skeptical lol. It would have been better if they knew how to build a donair. They put the lettuce on the bottom (making it warm and flavorless as it gets no sauce), then put the hot meat on top of it (which isn't crispy at all -1 star) Then put too much sauce on it and it soaked through the pita making the whole thing a mess. Here's a lesson. You put the cheese on first. Then the meat which has been crisped up nice in an oven (not a flat top grill that just makes it greasy), then you put the sweet sauce on, and then the veggies. Being going to Marcos for awhile now and say it's the best burger joint in town no doubt. I'm a burger guy and this is the best burger I ever ate. I get the half pound Hawaiian its huge and very delicious. The patties are cooked perfect the pineapple is tender and bacon is nice and crisp. They put this house sauce on the burger that is simply mouth watering. I also get the small fries which are the size of large fries anywhere else. They are salted just right and are thick and golden brown. The place is always clean and tidy which is also reassuring.
