This is a pretty good place to eat, it's very close to MacEwan University. My boyfriend has come here before and liked their food. When I first walked in, I was slightly overwhelmed by their menu. They had so much. We ordered a bunch of things: a Beef Donair, a Crispy Chicken Burger, Waffle Fries, and a Reese's Pieces Milkshake. Everything we ordered was just fantastic. The Crispy Chicken Burger was tasty, the House Sauce on it was light and pulled everything all together. It paired well with the chicken patty. The Waffle Fries had a beautiful golden crust on them. And the texture? Chef's kiss. The fries were very good. The Reese's Pieces milkshake was tasty too, it had a thick consistency and was what I pictured when we ordered it. But for me, the star of the show was the Beef Donair. If I could only get one thing from here, it would just be this. I liked everything about it. Although I do wish they added just a little bit more veggies, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. Veggies were good, the donair was flavorful and cooked well. And that sauce? Wow. It was light, not too sweet, and just wonderful. I loved taking a bite each time. All in all, we had a good time here and the food was worth it. We shared everything and were pretty full at the end. It was a 4.5/5 for me. We'll definitely be back! read more

Amber wanted poutine from costco, but I did not want to deal with the costco parking and crowds, so we came here. Amber had a standard poitine and I tried the donair poutine. We also got sold on milkshakes, which came with a mini donut so immediate win. Regular poutine was good, my donair poutine seemed like what you would expect, but I learned I prefer other poutines. It was also toooo big. read more

Mediocre food. Terrible poutine I came from America to try it. Very disappointed. Paid 12$ for some crummy regular fries and 1 store gravy with cheap cheese curds. read more

HOLY SHRINKFLATION...I've been a loyal customer for the same super donair for months up until November 2024. Placed the same order today (January 17, 2025) and it was a child size donair with little to no lettuce or tomatoes. Next donair I will def be going elsewhere. Save your money. read more

Quick, amazing service and delicious! Marco's Famous is a small fast food restaurant located right in front of MacEwan University. I have ordered several times from here and it has never disappointed. I prefer to call my order in for pick up and they usually give you a discount for that. This place is a fast food restaurant so burgers, fries and shakes are their specialty. I have tried the vegetarian burger which is delicious. Fries are amazing and the shake was incredible. They have a variety of shakes to choose from and I went with Oreo. In summary, Marco's Famous is a local and delicious place for fast food. It has a variety of options that are well priced. Definitely give it a try! read more

Wow, who knew how busy this place can get? I have driven past this place so many times over the years but never stopped in. We decided to try it out and it was approximately 8:30 in the evening. The parking lot is a bit tight but there's street parking all over. Once we walked in, we could smell food. It seems like a couple runs this place, the lady by the front cash and the man cooking the food. There are a few small tables inside and only one table was taken up. We checked out the menu which was posted on a wall. We had no idea what to order since the burgers, donairs and poutine all looked delicious! Even the milkshakes looked good too! I was assuming the donair was more popular so we went with that and fries. Our meal was a nice size and we almost couldn't finish it. We had a strawberry milkshake which was thick and creamy. As we were eating, many people were coming in for to go orders...this place was busy! The prices are excellent, $7.00 for a donair and combos are also available. They are open until midnight and on Fridays and Saturday close at 3 a.m. Great for the bar crowd who are hungry after partying. They offer a discount for Grant Mac students so ask the cashier for details. I'm wondering why I didn't stop in here before?!! read more

Marco's Famous - Cheese donair and fries - Burgers Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Another dark, dreary and cold winter day in Canada resulted in some heavy cravings for comfort food. What is comfort food in Canada you ask? Poutine of course. Donair, poutine. So, I redownloaded the Uber app out of desperation and placed an order with Marco's Burgers. Surprisingly, the food arrived within half an hour. I've had bad luck with Uber Eats but this delivery worked well. The foot was hot and smelled delicious. The poutine, is always a classic though it is difficult to make this look good in a photo. Trust me, when I say it the spot. I should have gone with a classic burger. The donair was disappointing. It was extremely large and so soggy that I had to use a plate and eat it with a fork and knife. Good thing I was at home and not on the road. The good part? I have left overs for tomorrow's lunch and I can't wait to finish up the poutine...it's why I usually order a couple of options when I get take out. So I always have leftovers! The soggy donair is why I'm only giving 3 stars. Otherwise, I would have given four stars. PROS: Delivery prep time is prompt, prices are reasonable, delivery fee is $2.99 via Uber Eats which is reasonable. CONS: Skip the donair if you aren't into messy foods. Stick with the classics, burgers, poutine and dawgs. read more

Solid spot to eat at. We went there for lunch with a good sized group. The eat-in area accommodates groups of two to four easily. Our group was about 8 and there was only one middle table that could accommodate that. Staff was friendly. We had an egg allergy in the group and the server was unable to verify if the bread had eggs baked in it - so we (not the staff) had to call the bread supplier for the restaurant to confirm (no eggs). Lunch was a mix of foods: The #1 donair combo was tasty. The cuts of beef were very juicy and flavourful. Savory. Good balance with the house donair sauce (there wasn't too much of it) and tomatoes and onions. The burgers were good. Angus beef patties and soft buns. I don't know that I would come back for burgers as they were pretty standard. The quality was better than your average fast food joint and on par with a Red Robin type of place. Standard burger order did not come with fries. So our group split waffle and regular fries - which were also good - crispy, crunchy, and more of a standard cut fry (not thick cut). The staff recommendation the milkshake so we had a Strawberry one (there are other flavours like Orange Creamsicle and Bubble Gum), as well as a Twix Mash Up which is like a Blizzard from DQ. Both were very good and devoured completely. All in all, a good spot. I really enjoyed the Donair and shake. read more

My husband and I came in yesterday after a very hard week and I just wanted to say those were the BEST donairs we've had in many many years, thank you so much! We will be telling our family and friends about it. The only thing is there was no cheese on my cheese donair but the donair itself was great, the service was friendly and it wasn't too busy. Husband had the chicken donair and I had the beef donair with cheese but I noticed no cheese when I got home. Will be back again for sure. I'm excited to try their ice cream next time. read more

Ah Marcos. They've been around forever, yet still manage to keep up their great quality. This is definitely my fav donair spot in the area. The donair meat is cooked through very well and they use ACTUAL cheese, not that weird ass cheese sauce you get at some places. The pita is warm. And I love that I can get the veggies on the side when I split the donair with my carnivorous hubs. There's honestly enough veg to make a salad out of if you wanted. Their donair s are so delicious as is, I've honestly never checked if there's weird sauces or whatever like at Prime Time, cuz there's really no need for it! Their fries are good. If they're frozen, they're probably cavendish, cuz honestly they're full of flavour. I'd come here just for the fries. I still haven't tried one of their crazy poutines but I am DYING to. For something like $10 you get a ton of fries and can choose from some pretty cool poutine options like cheese sauce and bacon, Doritos, and more. They're super drool worth just looking at the pictures on the menu or seeing someone else's. The milkshakes are super flavourful and just the right amount of thicc! It's a small space but there's enough seating for probably around 20 people in here. And sometimes you get coupons too! One night we had a donair, fries, and milkshake for like $10 or something. We're back all the time and will continue to keep going back! I remember when coming downtown in grade 11 felt so fancy or something and this was my fav place for a munch out. So glad they've been able to keep afloat so long! read more

I got the original burger. I asked for no onions and they gave me onions. The meat on the burger is so gross. No seasoning and tastes the way raw meat smells. I gagged. The bread is stale and fell apart after the first bite. The fries are boring and nothing special. Don't waste your money. read more

Yes. Fantastic donair, meat was fresh, pita was crisp, and fries were cooked perfectly. The big thing here was the sweet sauce. I asked for extra, and it was good, creamy and not runny. Great experience and the guys working were good. The establishment was nice and clean.... and inside was designed like a text book donair place. Enjoyed every bite. Will be coming back. PS, the tomatoes were thick cut and fresh, juicy and ripe. It's all in the details. read more

Generously fullfilling! Such tiny place but love this place. They don't hold back on the meat of their donairs! Though a little bit on the pricy side yet so much worth it. The 12" is $10 and literally went and filled the tray all the way across look at the picture :) You don't eat in this place with one hand, and definitely don't eat in this place with half filled stomach! Nice and friendly staff! You can't go wrong on this place. I'm from Calgary and I would definitely go out of my way to just eat here again when I visit! read more

Solid donair. Only regret... I shoulda' got an extra cup of sauce which was indeed good! Stopped in for dinner tonight. Really impressed with the clean, industrial atmosphere. Even the diamond plate bench was more comfortable than it looks! Decided on a Jumbo cheese donair, but really like the selection. I could certainly see myself stopping in again to try something else. As for my donair... It was indeed big. Well spiced meat. Ample fresh veggies and topped with a nice sweet sauce. Stacks up well in my growing list of donair shops! read more

I stop in here a little more frequently than I probably should. The space is smallish but there is still always a place to sit and enjoy your meal. They have tv's and there is always a soccer or hockey game on the keep you entertained. The guys behind the counter are super friendly and always do a bang up job taking and preparing your order. Now for the food, it is amazing! I've tried a lot of what's on the menu and I have never been disappointed. The portions are outrageous and I always end up over full with leftovers. This is one of the best donairs I have had in the city. They put a good amount of toppings and sauce on so it feels balanced and you don't just feel like your eating a hunk of meat. The burgers are not overly greasy but super rich and satisfying, I love their house sauce. They make good gravy and even though it's not traditional poutine it still hits the spot late at night on a weekend. Seriously everyone needs to go here. read more

Very good first impression walking in. Fairly clean place, nice large clear sign directly in front of you. Beer and cooler options if your feeling like something with OH. Great service. These are some very good strengths, but let's get to how the food tastes. Went with a combo 5, Marco burger with fries and a pop for 12.50$. Charged me an extra buck for a Jones soda. Steep! Fries come in a large portion. There are fine, a bit too salty though. Nothing to write home about, but they did the job. The burger is huge, a two party monstrosity. It's a good burger, but messy as heck as the sauce soaks the bun heavily. Besides that it's a decent burger, but lacks that homemadiness I've come to associate with burger heaven. They deliver and open until 11pm most day, Friday and Saturday until 1pm. My assessment? It isn't on the top tier of burger places in the city. But it's a clear option in the area. I would go back. I'm a fan, but admit it isn't the best in Edmonton. 3.5 stars, round up for an overall favourable presentation! read more

I've been eating at Marco's since it was a tiny, hole-in-the-wall, late night spot just off Whyte Ave (there's a faded, old newspaper article with a photo of the namesake Marco to the left of the order counter -- check it out the next time you're in!). I'm so glad they moved downtown around the same time I did! The portions here are huge! Unless I haven't eaten in a day or two, a jumbo donair is usually enough to last me both supper the night I order it and lunch the next day (and I'm not complaining). The fries are amazing and thick cut, but I think if I tried to eat any along side a donair I'd explode. The milkshakes are made with real ice cream, and really, it's all worth the hard-earned money. This place is small and can get busy, especially after hockey games and when bars close. But totally worth the wait (although that's coming from someone who remembers queuing up outside the original location at 2am!) :) read more

Best donairs in Edmonton, hands down. I've tried nearly every other place, and this one is the only one that isn't overly greasy, has flavour, good sized portions, and doesn't kill my wallet. They also have homemade shakes - the orange creamsicle is the bomb! read more

Marco's is always consistently good. The donairs are absolutely delicious and the burgers are decent as well. A regular cheese donair combo with a pop is my usual. We stopped by on a whim after seeing a sign advertising a lunch special. It was two donairs and two orders of fries for $15.00 which is a great deal. We'd never been before, and are always apprehensive trying a new donair place, but I'm glad we gave it a go. The service was friendly and fast. You could tell that the person serving us really loves what he does. We didn't wait long and the food was great. I would like the option to add a few additional toppings to my donair and to be asked what sauce I'd like next time. Luckily, they chose to put sweet sauce on it, which is what I would've chosen. The fries were well seasoned and freshly prepared. Overall it's good food for a decent price and that's getting harder and harder to find. Plus, we were given two coupons for a free milkshake so we will definitely be going back. read more

I would definitely suggest to go here if you're super hungry! The regular size was pretty big for me to finish but the boy and I were still able to inhale them somehow. The perfect size for me probably would've been about half the size of a regular but hey that's what a fridge is for right? I loved the amount of veg in the donair that is usually lacking at other places - and they were fresh and crispy which is a huge bonus. The meat was really nice too, well seasoned and crispy on the outside. We also got the onion rings poutine and curly fries which were both great and not overly greasy (I use that term loosely of course). And finally if that was already gut-buster worthy we decided to destroy our diets further with their milkshakes. These were somehow some of the better milkshakes I've had , even though it was only vanilla ice cream and syrup. It gave them a childhood "nesquick and milk" kind of vibe and it was delicious! On top of that, the man who took our order was super friendly and I would love to go back! Awesome stuff read more

Love this place. Of all the lunch options in SUB, it's usually the shortest lineup. That said, the lineup for Edo is often mistaken as the lineup for Marco's... So I decided to try Marco's. I ordered a cheese donair. She asked what veggies. I said just lettuce and sweet sauce please. To which she responded 'So no cheese?'. I said yes I ordered a cheese donair. Can I also get lettuce and sweet sauce. So I get the donair and there's no cheese on it (-1 star). At this point im skeptical lol. It would have been better if they knew how to build a donair. They put the lettuce on the bottom (making it warm and flavorless as it gets no sauce), then put the hot meat on top of it (which isn't crispy at all -1 star) Then put too much sauce on it and it soaked through the pita making the whole thing a mess. Here's a lesson. You put the cheese on first. Then the meat which has been crisped up nice in an oven (not a flat top grill that just makes it greasy), then you put the sweet sauce on, and then the veggies. You wouldn't put the veggies on the bottom of a burger would you? That's just stupid. Your welcome... read more

Favorite, favorite donairs in the city, by far! Omg their sweet sauce is amazing! I had a burger before on a bun (delicious and juicy) but this time I had it wrapped in lettuce, which was perfect. THEY HAVE WAFFLE-FRY POUTINE, PEOPLE! WAFFLE-FRY POUTINE!!!!! Please take a moment and let that sink in. I'd have to say my only complaint was it was a little chilly inside for me with the air-conditioning on, but next time I'll take a light sweater (and stretchier pants :D). Super close to Grant MacEwan, so that's definitely a bonus for me. Their service is really quick so I have plenty of time for a sit-down lunch break. I'll be there again soon!
