I'm going to start this review by saying I'm from the east coast, Saint John, NB to be exact and my father is from the birthplace of the Donair, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now if you're an east coaster reading this, before you roll your eyes, hear me out. This is EASILY the best donair I've had in Alberta. I've lived here for two years now and also did a stint in 2019/2020 for a year. This is probably the closest you're ever going to get to a Nova Scotia Donair. Everything from the pita, the spices in the meat, to the "sweet sauce" (we don't call it sweet sauce down home... it's just called Donair sauce). The staff are very friendly and the price point is ON THE MONEY. 10$ for a very well portioned, classic messy Donair. I'm beyond impressed with this place. My father and I both agreed that these folk could up and move to Halifax and sell their Donair and nobody would know they were from Alberta. Let's face it fellow east coasters.. Alberta doesnt know how to make donairs.. at least I thought that until I found this place! Excellent Donair, excellent serving/portion. Honestly I think the only thing that keeps this place from being a major popular spot that is well-known is the location. The donairs are amazing and they deserve their due! I've been to more donair places than probably your whole family combined. This spot is good but not the best I've had. Pros: very nice owner. I entered and he smiled and started a conversation almost immediately. He went quick to get my donair with tzatziki, which was good. Fresh and tasty. Decent portion sizes, you get what you pay for, which for me was about 12 dollars for a super donair. The cons: The restaurant is run down. Who really cares about that if the food is good though. The donair and tzatziki sauce is salty, more than most places. If you can look past the salt, which isn't hard because it's a donair, you'll enjoy it. read more

You really would walk past this place and not give it a second thought ever again unless you love hummous as much as me or had a bad craving of poutine as a local. So that happened and the hummous was a bit better than average the bread only got once peice and was bit stale for $4 total. Tables were dirty and the guy/not owner behind the counter made me wait to pay and not friendly at all. Owner is friendly and wwe was on the tv the second time I came in ontop of a cheesy murale. Patrons are friendly despite neighborhood. I liked my poutine for the fries was good and the gravy good, a big portion to share for $13 with 2 pops. It looks in the picture on menu that it is cheese curds but is only mozza, I did not dislike it as much as some other places who make it that way. Well damn. That... Was really good! Well it isn't the best looking shop I've seen...lol...who cares! The donair is one of the best I have had recently. Other shops...that have spent more on devor should take note. Shiney new shop has never meant best food. These folks do it all well. Shop may not be fancy...but it is also not terrible. Run-of-the-mill in this racket really. Staff are very friendly. Ran me $10 for a Super donair, cup of sauce and a bottle of water. Quite fair indeed however it wasn't the biggest "Super" I have seen. I am left wondering how "small" a regular is..and subsequently...how big a Jumbo would be! But hey...the donair! Pita was fresh and delicious. Veggies...marginal. The meat! The best part! Well seasoned with just the right spice, juicy and delicious! Very impressed with the meat! Garlic sauce was also really good. Thick and rich! Mark off however for the all all-mighty sweet sauce. While it wasn't inherently bad...it was also pretty runny and at times I couldn't really tell if it were even there. Still...the whole package was really enjoyable despite this. To answer my obligatory question... I would be thrilled if this were my local shop! I would go out of my way if this were even among my local shops. I've tried pretty much the entire menu and have a few tips: a) The garlic sauce is incredible - if you like garlic that is. b) The Donair Poutine is way too salty - avoid, or request that they don't salt the fries. Also, the poutine came with mozzarella, not curds. c) The Chicken Donair is a winner, largely because of the garlic sauce. read more
