I appreciate that their franchise is consistent with their food. We ordered two items off the menu to have a little bit of variety. I've passed by Queen Donair more times than I can count but never had the urge to stop in. Well, we were crunched for time after a spot we wanted to try was closed for August holidays. We decided to bite the bullet and dropped in for a quick Wednesday lunch. It's located right beside a Just for Fun game shop. The inside isn't what I was expecting. A couple arcade games, TV's and plenty of tables. The menu is large with more selection than you'd expect from a donair shop. - Chicken donair ($13.50 large mix) - didn't seem that jumbo in size to me. Pretty standard donair. Not bad but not comparable to my go to donair spots. - Butter chicken poutine ($11.45) - we decided to try their fusion take on the classic poutine. Chicken was dry and dish was salty. A half decent attempt but I wouldn't get it again. So much for venturing out. One of your typical Edmonton joints. You can do better if you're in the west end. 2.5 stars. read more

I haven't been inside Queen Donair but we decided to order in and try it out. I like donairs but decided to try the donair poutine this time. The food arrived quickly so it was still hot. The poutine was in a cardboard box so that's good they didn't put it in a white foam container which could melt. Inside the box were lots of fries, gravy, cheese, and donair slices. It was gooey with the cheese and the donair meat wasn't too salty. I ate less than half and couldn't eat any more. I could have shared it with my husband and we both would have been full. Not bad for just over $10 for a few meals. I would order again, or stop in and try a donair or have poutine again. read more

Buyer beware. My spouse and I have a specific order we tell every donair shop we go to (as seen as in the pictures). We went in for the first time today and ordered what we've been ordering for the past 3 years together. Unfortunately we ordered take out and didn't double check what was actually in the bag. Delivery time was good, first time ordering from here. I ordered a donair combo and there was so much sauce the pita was fully drenched, it was also soaked on the outside and spilled liquid sweet sauce all over the place when I slightly opened the wrapper, I couldn't even eat it because it was soaking wet it. Queen Donair is the only reason I am ever okay with going back to Edmonton. One of the very few downsides of living in Vancouver is the lack of a decent donair - when the craving hits, I miss Queen Donair something fierce. I've never encountered a better donair, and I have longing dreams in which a QD opens up in downtown Van. Every time I'm in Edmonton, we go to QD. Multiple times. Sometimes in the same day. I come at least twice a week because I come to the area but aside form that, the place is generally clean but is in need of an update because some the decor in that is outdated. Now to the food... yum, uhh what I can say about the food is that some of the basic stuff that they don't specialize in is frozen so if your thinking "Hey, they might have good fries because the other donair joints have fresh fries cause I've seen them cut them from over the counter." you're gonna be disappointed. But the meat on the other hand is surprisingly good, the burgers are delicious (by being juicy and tasty) but it ain't thick if you were wondering and the donairs is good supposedly but idk, I only heard it was good because my brother eats donair not me. Queen donair is pretty much like every other donair place in the city. Nothing in particular stands out about it. I have stopped in here a couple times when driving by to grab a donair. They have the same menu as other places and it tastes fairly similar. It isn't bad and it isn't great. There are a select few donair spots around the city that I actually enjoy going to and will go out of my way to get food from. Queen donair isn't one of them. It is just another place that I may stop by I am right by it. read more

Where's the 6-star button?? Stopped back in to visit this old friend. It has only gotten better. The Three cheese donair is BACK and its better than ever! You must go to this location now, and try one & thank me later :) The only thing that may bug you is that it's usually one guy working so you might have to wait 5-10 minutes. One of the very best beef Donair in the city! Staff is usually friendly unless they are busy. Decor was upgraded a few years ago with multiple TV's showing a variety of sports. I stopped in to Queen Donair on a Saturday evening when a friend and I were heading to an event on Stony Plain Road and we needed a quick bite to eat. There were three spits going filled with donair meat, and a number of other customers in the sparsely-decorated place. In addition to donairs, Queen Donair sells burgers of all kinds, chicken fingers, falafel, fries, and submarine sandwiches. The prices are quite low - around $5 will get you a normal-sized donair or burger. I had a regular donair, which was wrapped in very tasty, fresh pita bread and filled with meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and sweet sauce. I held the onions and cheese. The meat was quite flavourful without being too spicy. I prefer tzatziki sauce on donairs, but as far as a sweet sauce goes, this was all right, if not applied a little too heavily. The place has been here for a while and has regular customers. I definitely would head here again if I am in the area and need food in a hurry. read more

THE best chicken Donair in the town and we've tried many!! Perfectly spiced, tender and juicy chicken chunks and fresh crisp lettuce and onions with amazing garlicky sauce wrapped in a fresh pita!! We also got a side of onion rings which were relish! They were kind enough to accommodate our order even though they were closing in 15minutes and had to cook the chicken from scratch! Never thought I would write a review on a donair place but I had this last night and it was fantastic. I got a cheese donair and they put the cheese on the pita then threw the pita on the grill to warm up and melt the cheese. I've never had a donair place do that and it made a big difference. I frequent this place late on weekend nights, they get very busy with the bar crowd but don't let the long line fool you - it moves extremely fast because these guys pre-prepare much of their items before the rush. Food is awesome and portion sizes / value is great. Very accommodating too when it comes to ordering something off-menu. read more

I own a business down the street, which gives me a chance to eat at Queen Donair often. We have tried many donair places in the area and always come back here in the end. The owner is friendly and looks after the customers well. Portions are good, price is comparable, the food is the bomb. read more
