Instead of going through every detail of our "story", I will list, from the least worst to the most worst, issues we've had with Metro Appliance and our purchase of a used (preowned) refrigerator from them. 1) They do not offer refunds, only a 90-day "warranty" and replacement of an item. 2) Our refrigerator was one of the nicest they had in stock. Within three months, we had to contact them five (5) times for maintenance....for the same problem. The ice maker did not work; the installer didn't even install the refrigerator right to produce the ice. They didn't even include a water line for the refrigerator, I had to purchase it separately. They also did not clean the refrigerator before they brought it to us, nor did they replace the dirty filter. THEY SOLD US A REFRIGERATOR WITH A DIRTY FILTER!!! 3) One of the "installers" decided to take a smoke break while his co-worker installed the refrigerator (I guess he couldn't wait 30-minutes). He flicked his cigarette into my landscaping and set it on fire (it was a very hot and dry day). 4) When our refrigerator was being "maintenanced", they wanted to replace it with another one of their items instead of fixing the one we purchased, and what they brought us was nothing short of horrible. It was dirty, spray painted, and dented up. 5) The installer/maintenance worker informed me that they do not purchase used items, but they purchase everything by the truck load. Basically what they do is buy junk and scrap, and then put together refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc. Basically, it's rebuilt JUNK! 6) Our refrigerator was INFESTED WITH ROACHES! I should have known by the looks of the company's facilities, but decided to go with it anyway because it was a "good deal" (so I thought). Please save your money and time...purchase something new, or at least from someone you know. How Metro Appliance in Tampa survives is beyond me. I'm selling the refrigerator for whatever I can get out of it. I will NEVER purchase anything from Metro Appliance again!!!

So Lowe's to the rescue! We got our first unit for the living room pronto. I didn't know much about portable units, so my partner and I got some help from one of the employees who was actually not only empathetic, but was able to answer all our questions and give recommendations about what would be the best choice for us. We left buying one fan and a new portable unit for the living room, which is currently still running strong so we're not sweating and suffocating. Fast forward a few weeks later... I have to buy ANOTHER unit for just the bedroom as we haven't been running the apartment's unit AT ALL due to it plain not working as well as leaking. Back to Lowe's we go! We had two other very helpful employees assist us on getting a clamp for the hose as well as a new smaller unit for the bedroom. I love how the employees were friendly and took their time explaining the warranties and protection plan to make sure we get the most out of our purchase. I'm happy to say we're no longer sweating and dying at our apartment thanks to Lowe's!

Lowe's subcontracted the delivery to RXO (formerly XPO Logistics), whose driver caused over a grand in property damage to three separate properties on November 11th, 2025, as well as almost hit my neighbor. The driver was uncommunicative, had to be flagged down from leaving the scene, and did not speak a word of English. Property 1 received massive tree damage that required removal. The driver also damaged the mailbox. The mailbox at Property 2 was completely flattened. Property 3 received damage to the mailbox and the rock structure around the mailbox. I included pictures of all properties, as well as receipts for the damage, and even pictures of pieces of the truck that the driver left: again, that's literal pieces. Despite Lowe's direct role in arranging and profiting from the delivery, most of their representatives have repeatedly attempted to shift responsibility to RXO, directing me to contact their representative or speaking with them on my behalf. I received most of it after threatening to take them to small claims court but am still waiting on $150. Meanwhile, do you think this asshole company offered me even a coupon after all this? No - Well congrats, you lost a customer and I share this story whenever I can. Way to embody everything people hate about large companies. To RXO - eff you for putting unsafe drivers on the road. I hope your business fails.
