This is a good spot for your average pizza, especially since it's very close to UCR. I'd say it's better than places like Domino's and Little Caesars, and you get a pretty good-sized pizza for a reasonable price. They have a wide variety of options, and I really enjoyed their pizza. This is by far the best buffalo "kickin'" chicken pizza I have ever had. We rarely get anything else but last time they accidentally made the Alfredo pizza for us and when THEY discovered the error they gave us both pizzas without extra charge. Extremely Disappointed - Poor Management and Customer Service To the owner of Marcello's Pizza: You may want to seriously reconsider who you're entrusting to represent your business. The individual currently managing your restaurant displays an alarming lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills. On multiple occasions, I have experienced rude, dismissive, and outright mocking behavior from this manager. Rather than addressing customer concerns with respect and maturity, he resorts to belittling remarks and a condescending tone. In one instance, when I requested his name to formally report the incident to ownership, he responded mockingly with, "Service," and then slowly and patronizingly spelled it out: "S-E-R-V-I-C-E." This kind of behavior not only reflects poorly on him but on the entire establishment. This manager appears unable--or unwilling--to de-escalate situations or foster a welcoming dining environment. Frankly, it raises serious concerns about the overall work culture and values being upheld here. Even more troubling is the apparent disregard for basic health code practices. There are visible hygiene concerns, such as food handlers not wearing proper protective coverings like beard nets. My partner and I have also witnessed flies on their pizzas in restaurant. If this is what's visible to the public, one can only imagine what happens behind the scenes. With this kind of toxic management and questionable cleanliness, it's difficult to have confidence in the safety of the food or the integrity of the business. Extremely Disrespectful Management - Lost a Loyal Customer I've been a consistent customer of Marcello's Pizza for quite some time and have even placed large, bulk orders for events--giving them what I'd consider strong, regular business. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with one of the store managers have been so negative that I will no longer be ordering from this establishment. The manager in question has been consistently rude, unaccommodating, and frankly, hostile in his communication. On my most recent call, he mocked me in a strange voice and was openly disrespectful. The interaction was so unprofessional that I had to hang up mid-conversation due to the verbal abuse. When I called back to ask for his name, he refused to provide it and sarcastically told me his name was "customer service." This isn't the first time I've experienced this behavior from him, but it will certainly be the last. No customer deserves to be treated this way--especially not one who has supported your business repeatedly. I've never written a review like this before, but I feel it's necessary to warn others. Within the first bite I thought this might be it but after some more chewing I realized how incredibly salty the pizza is. You could hardly taste the sauce because the cheese is overpowering and salty. I had even asked for extra sauce but unfortunately it just felt like I was chewing chunks of salt. Their wings were delicious though, I feel like they were well worth it. Not everywhere has great wings so I was impressed by theirs! Their service was good/fast. It seems to be a popular place in our area. I ordered chicken Parm dinner. The end of the spaghetti noodles were burnt, the chicken Parm was soggy, and I'm not even sure if I was eating chicken as a huge chunk of it was rubbery and felt that synthetic. I ordered a cheese pizza and ask them to add pepperoni because I do not see an option on the menu for pepperoni pizza, which is crazy to me. That all changed when a supervisor told my team she was buying us all a large with three toppings for being so competent and as a special reward. Ordering over the phone was easy and what I couldn't find on their menu, namely crust options, was explained. The garlic butter sounded good, especially since we ordered our default standard: pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. Be ready in 15-minutes, about the time to get dressed and drive over. Everything hit on the numbers, pizza just left the oven when I walked in. Seeing as how it was free I tipped accordingly. At home we were excited, the presentation was perfect and the gf sautéed some bell peppers and red onions to augment the toppings. Blaine St, Marcello's After 20+ years of ordering from here, tonight was my last order. The delivery driver brought the pizza's and both had all the cheese & toppings slid to the left. Called and spoke to the manager who seemed upset that I was upset about my order. I told the manager I would like a refund for the 2 pizzas and he refused and his tone was confrontational and said he will give us 2 free pizzas in the future. I told him I do not not plan to order from here again, due to his tone and how he decided to handle this, then he snapped and said forget your credit then. And y'all SERVED up that garlic sauce on the wings; we used a spoon to smear the extra sauce on the pizza crust, and it was so bomb that Homeland should be investigating it for being sus as hell. I don't normally eat crust, but here?, the crust was a magical steamboat, forged from hopes and dreams to carry the promise of flavor salvation... that garlic sauce was seriously wonderful. Oh, it was also the best BBQ chicken pizza I've ever had. And let me tell you what's good; I have eaten at Vegas restaurants where they dish up the best pizzas on the planet. But nah, that lobster pizza at the Luxor was legit... but this was Vegas-worthy BBQ chicken pizza. The ingredients at this place are actually prepped properly. No giant mushroom chunks that become slimy and chewy. Nah meng, just like the onions and all up ons, toppings are MINCED here to allow the delicious fats and greases from the cheeses to soak up between their crevices. Seriously, I have never had a bad pizza from here. Also the only good place to get anchovies on pizza here, even though I'm the only one who likes them. Sometimes the teenage staff are kinda "eh" in attitude but we were all teenagers once, so chill the hell out on these kids. They make bomb-ass pizza under well-maintained management. And let me tell you, I've been in the US Air Force when I was a younger man, and I would gladly take homeboy running this pizza haus over any of my superiors I had in the service. I've been told by colleagues that Marcello's is very good so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, they have one of my favorite pizza toppings; cashews. The dough wash good and slightly chewy which is a plus. I enjoyed my pizza and also the potato wedges. I will be going back for sure. The owner is also great and super friendly. I came into the store a few days ago to place an order for a party today. 2XL pizzas which are supposed to have 32 slices for $25. They ended up giving my husband 2 large pizzas (12 slices each) and charging him the $25. When we called to let them know of the mistake they said our order of the XL pizzas was still there for pick up. When my husband returned they said they would have to make him 3 more large pizzas to equal what we wanted and we would have to pay $14 each new pizza. Even though they said our pizzas were still there and they made the mistake of giving us the wrong order. So an order that was originally supposed to cost us $25 was going to end up costing us $67. Needless to say in the end We went elsewhere for the rest of the pizzas. We are a pizza loving family and tonight was our first and last experience with Marcello's. Used DoorDash to try and new pizza spot. It had good ratings and food would be quick. Ordered at 4:30 and was estimated to arrive between 5 and 5:10. I called at 5:20 to check if the pizza was on its way and was told the quoted time was wrong it should've been 45 minutes to an hour. Before I could ask anything else he said "oh the driver just left with your order and it will be there in 20 minutes." It finally arrived 45 minutes later and that was only after I called DoorDash requesting to cancel the nearly hour late order. Frustrated by the time but eager to taste our pizzas, we opened our boxes only to find our pastrami pizza was actually just a cheese pizza (which was probably the worst cheese pizza I've ever had). The salad as below average. Just some lettuce, soggy tiny croutons and salty processed cheese. The only thing worthy of ordering again was the BBQ chicken pizza. Wanted to love it, but this was a terrible first impression. We definitely won't be back. read more
