Honestly, The Spaghetti Factory isn't my favorite spot. I've been here a few times and even ordered takeout, but each experience has been underwhelming whether it's the food or the service, it just doesn't quite hit the mark for me. The building itself has a unique, old world charm, which I do appreciate. I like the vintage, majestic vibe, but the atmosphere feels a bit too dark and musty, almost like aged wood that hasn't been refreshed in a while. I get that the design reflects a historic style, but I think a slight modern upgrade could really elevate the experience. Our server Sierra was super sweet/friendly, efficient & attentive. The food was good (not completely great) but because of the excellent service, I gave it an extra star. Restaurant is a bit outdated (not sure if they're going for the vintage look but it would be nice if they could renovate the restaurant). All in all, the clam pasta was amazing. It's my fave pasta every time. The rich meat sauce pasta was good only because the meat balls were added. Otherwise the pasta alone wouldn't be good. Friday, 1-01-26: We all came here after seeing the lights at Mission Inn since it was nearby. We hadn't been to this particular OSF in years. I know it was converted from an old warehouse and has the Old World aesthetic interior. As soon as you walk in your eyes immediately go to a beautiful stained glass picture above the ornate woodwork of the check in counter. Hostess was friendly & immediately showed us to our table. Our server was welcoming, quick & efficient. Love the Old World charm with the fancy light fixtures and other adornments as if you've been transported to another place & time! My absolute favorite dish is Garlic Mizithra. While waiting for our meals their hot, piping bread was served. We used to come here (specifically to the Trolley Square location in Salt Lake City, Utah) all the time with my great grandma. It was always for special occasions and it holds a special place in my heart. My husband and I came with a large party and I was pretty excited. I felt bad for our server because he seemed to be very young and even new. Despite all that, he was great and organized and did well with handling so many different tickets and orders. I got the cotton candy limeade and I kinda wish it was a taller glass because it was SO good! I don't know what cotton candy brand they use but, it tasted like gourmet cotton candy and it was just perfect! We also got the Sicilian Garlic Cheese Bread as an appetizer and that was super yummy too. My husband lived in Italy for 2yrs and so he grew up having authentic Italian food, meaning he's HARD to please. And he really liked the bread! He got the Lasagna and also enjoyed that, but he's used to the Italian version where they use a cream sauce rather than the crumbly cheese. I got the Tuscan Chicken and that was an absolute perfect combo of fettuccine flavors with a wonderful sauce my father-in-law makes from Italy and it was SO good!! Everyone knows and has been to The Old Spaghetti Factory. I haven't been in a few years and decided to pop in for a lunch and I can honestly say I really enjoyed my meal in the service. The places is still charming as ever and I went out on a limb and try the soup of the day which was clam chowder, and I must say it was some of the best clam chowder I've had in a very long time. Each bite had clam in it and it had the perfect amount of salt. I must say it paired very well with the bread that they give, and the two together were delicious. Peanut butter jelly in addition to that I also ordered the Pot Pourri and each of the three flavors coffee made each other well. 4/4/25 It has been ages since visiting this OSF, reminds me of the old OSF in Hollywood. Met up with friends that we've worked with at the OSF Hollywood at this restaurant today, two of which visiting from Texas with their daughter (who attends UC Riverside). Some friends I have known since 1986! We meet at OSFs regularly. The ambiance is nostalgic with fixtures that match the vibe, casual. It feels like a family themed restaurant. The food is always great, we usually order our favorites that we do not normally find anywhere else, clam sauce with mizithra cheese (with that delicious & aromatic browned butter--must try!!). A classic out in downtown Riverside. I don't know why the initial interior smell is quite an acquired taste. I blame the Parmesan lol. After the waft of newish scents it becomes tolerable after looking at the menu options. We opted for open bar seating and they were accommodating even though they were short staffed. Our service was not lacking by any means. We were well taken care of in a timely manner. Tortellini is a fav. A great visit every time! Street parking right in front or there is extra parking across the street and behind the building by the fitness center. They also host paint nights along with murder mystery dinners in the banquet room for ticketed guests. We've attended the murder mysteries usually a large group of people, all trying to figure out whodunnit. Theme dress attire is encouraged but not required. I came here with a group on the weekend in the evening. It was easy to make a reservation online and when I arrived we were seated right away. If you get a meal you can choose an appetizer and a dessert. They also gave you warm bread while you're waiting for the meal. I tried the spicy spaghetti vesuvius and it had a good flavor. I also ate the meat lovers treat. I liked the meatballs. The Caesar salad was standard. For dessert you can choose between vanilla and spumoni ice cream. I gave it to the manager and they brought another Iceberg lettuce salad and it wasn't much better? It had several White parts of the lettuce? For drinks, my son and I had an Italian cream soda which was a treat. I got the raspberry and he got the orange creamsicle. My daughter had the cotton candy limeade and loved it. My son got the lobster and crab ravioli with the same salad, and my daughter got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and salad. The big, old high back velvet chairs are largely removed and the bar has 'gasp'- Trendy high tables and chairs. We had 530pm reservations last Tuesday for a double birthday celebration. One bartender was all I saw present. She took a long time making 3 Moscow Mules... We were sat at 6pm when the rest of our party arrived. It became SLAMMED busy at this time.. No bread served until 30 minutes after seating (and not until AFTER we finally were able to place our orders...Boo!) Drinks took 45 minutes from time of order at table. So I never ordered another after the one I purchased at the bar. The Lobster n crab ravioli was just OK. Bread was hot when it finally did arrived. Spaghetti n meatballs looked good, lacked any pizzaz. Flat. Tomatoes marinara a bit too sweet. Appetizer cheese bread arrive 20 minutes after our entrees... so it was a waste of money as we were not craving it then. Mizitrah cheese is a dry cheese. Be aware of that. It is not a creamy texture at all. My mother did not like it as her pasta choice. Chicken Masala sauce was more of a sweet based burgundy mushroom. Mom didn't like that either. Things do not taste fresh. They are chain restaurant faire now...which I am saddened by. Too many people seated, not enough staff to manage. I love The Old Spaghetti Factory. I have been going to their restaurants in different locations for the last 45 years. So when I was in Riverside meeting with a former co-worker and his family, I had to check out this location. OSF is known for their good food and interesting locations. This was a former fruit packing warehouse. The interiors of all OSFs are always decorated beautifully and there is plenty to look at while dining there. The Cheese Bread appetizer was delicious with a good tasting crust and chunky marinara sauce. Definitely order this as an appetizer to share. All the dinners here are three courses which is a rarity nowadays. There is a choice of soup or salad and a dessert of spumoni or vanilla ice cream. A large loaf of sourdough bread and butter also comes with the meal. I chose a salad with their house dressing which is a creamy pesto. The salad was fresh tasting with crispy lettuce and the dressing went well with it. I ordered the Potpourri which is spaghetti with four of their classic sauces: Mushroom, Meat, Clam, and Mizithra with Browned Butter. It is for the undecided so get all the sauces on one plate. My favorite and usual go to is Mizithra with Browned Butter but it is good to try the other sauces as well for a change. The spumoni was a good dessert for the meal. It was an ample scoop of delicious ice cream. Service is excellent here and very efficient. The waitstaff were friendly and food came from the kitchen quickly. Parking is on the street and in an adjoining lot which is shared with a couple of other businesses. There was plenty of spaces but there is a short half block walk to the restaurant entrance. We had a memorial banquet there yesterday at 2:30pm, we had 40 people. They seated us promptly at 2:30, immediately took our drink orders, followed by steaming hot bread and butter. I am giving a two star review primarily because the manager reached out to me after my family and I had already left the restaurant to offer an apology, which I do appreciate. That said, the overall experience was disappointing. In most restaurants, it is standard practice for a server to greet a table and at least take a drink order within 5-15 minutes of being seated. Unfortunately, our party waited approximately 30 minutes without any server approaching our table--not even for a simple greeting or a glass of water. After waiting this long, I went to the hostess stand to ask if we had been assigned a server. The staff appeared confused when I asked and seemed unaware that our table had not yet been attended to. According to a waitress she had been assigned our table but was not aware because she was tending to tables on the opposite side of the restaurant. I explained that we had been seated for half an hour without any acknowledgment. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told that there was not one available at the time. However, after we left, the manager called and explained that there had actually been two managers on site. For context, our group consisted of eight people, and we were celebrating three birthdays. It was our first time visiting this establishment and, unfortunately, it will likely be our last. While I do appreciate the manager taking the time to reach out and attempt to make things right, first impressions are incredibly important. I sincerely hope the restaurant is able to address these service issues moving forward. If you do decide to visit this establishment, make sure you're not seated and waiting too long before addressing it, they may not even be aware you are waiting. read more
