Visually, the doughnuts are okay. Unfortunately, they apparently put more effort into appearance than taste, and I honestly dummy care what a doughnut looks like, if it tastes good. I went to the Eastgate location once awhile back, and the products were dry and bland; I bought a variety for a meeting, and ended up throwing most of them away, half-eaten, which is hard to believe considering how much the attendees usually like doughnuts. I vowed to not go back there. However, this morning I was running behind and didn't have time to hit Servatii's, which has become my go-to place, so against my better judgment I swung into Marcella's in Mt. Of all the amazing reviews I've produced, I suspect a large chunk of those are donut shops. I am absolutely obsessed with donuts and I wish I was this obsessed with kale and tofu. These were such a hit at our wedding! I can't count the number of times people said "oh my gosh where are these donuts from?!" One of my groomsman told me, "I love you, but these donuts were the best part of the wedding." None were left except the few I stashed for the bride and I . Marcella's team made everything so easy for us, they even suggested toppings that would fit into our color theme. Donuts were baked fresh and delivered to our venue 1.5hr prior to the wedding. I think anyone that's planned a wedding will agree, the highest compliment you can give a vendor is: we didn't have to think about them --they delivered them, arranged them, all on time. Hands down the best donut place in Greater Cincinnati! It can be a little pricey but worth the gourmet donut experience. You won't regret anything you order. First time here and it did not disappoint! The doughnuts are so amazing. We went on Sunday mid-morning and they had a special - $10 for a bakers dozen. If you want overpriced donuts and rude service, this is your haven. I went to get a dozen and THOUGHT they were $16. When I got to the register, I was informed that Marcella's Mix are $16, these were $17 and I couldn't have them without the other dollar. OK, I get it; the mix is cheaper because people hem and haw at the counter thus taking up alot of the clerks time but I was in the store, literally, 2 minutes. So I went out to the truck, dug around and found .80; I got more rudeness but she finally surrendered the donuts for $16.80. We shop here frequently and are the kind of people that, when something is $16 or $17, drop $20 on the counter and say: keep the change. Yum! Holtman's granddaughter is the owner and there is a cute lettering in the concrete as you walk up the ramp into the Amelia location. If you have ever had Holtman's they seem like the same recipe. They have the BEST blueberry donuts and the creme filled as well as glazed are HUGE. I would normally give this place 5-stars because they've always been my favorite doughnut place. Their doughnuts are the biggest, prettiest & always taste fresh. Today I got half dozen & they were just bad :( it really bummed me out because I usually love this place! They tasted stale, hard & not even sweet, just weird.. almost like someone forgot to add the sugar to the dough. The chocolate frosting didn't even have a chocolate taste, what? I had to throw them away. I really hope this was a one time mishap because they're usually really good. I hope no first-timers came in today because they probably won't come back. Probably the best doughnuts I've ever had... if I wasn't watching my junk food intake I would have eaten ALOT more than just 1 and a few bites of a few others just to try. Amazing variety of doughnuts to choose from, great cost and they even do catering if you're looking for a doughnut bar! The staff was very friendly and even though it was a Sunday morning there was still a steady stream of patrons coming in while we were in line. If this place wasn't so far from where I live I'd be in here every time I give in to my doughnut desires. Marcella's is great! - When they have their typical selection available. The Crullers are my favorite, they are little fried and airy/moist! Very different from your typical donut. I usually don't like cake donuts, but theirs are very good! Much more moist than most places. The blueberry and strawberry cake donut is definitely worth a try! The Cronut was actually one that I was really excited to try but did not impress me. I thought it would be more "flaky" like a real croissant. They definitely make some great tasting donuts but they almost never have a lot of the regular choices available, they seem to just kind of make whatever and don't have a consistent selection on hand other than their cake donuts. read more

Cute little shop. friendly lady helped me. early in the morning HUGE selection. multiple flavors in yeast and cake versions as well as specialty donuts with all kinds of fancy toppings and flavors. My co-workers really enjoyed them this morning! My only suggestion would be to maybe make the Clough location a little more cozy; I wasn't there long and I may have been the first customer, but it was very quiet and there were no smells. After discovering that the owner of Marcella's and Holtman's were sisters, I made it my mission to get my doughnut on at Marcella's. So. Freaking. Delicious. I'm typically a lover of yeast doughnuts, but the cake doughnuts at Marcella's are incredible. The outside is perfectly crispy while the inside is moist and fluffy. It's a texture that honestly made me moan out of total satisfaction. I would have never thought that a simple blueberry cake doughnut could be so naughty. The downside to this place is that none of the flavors were labeled. I'm sure this is as aggravating to the employees as it is the customers. Still worth it. And so was the 5lbs I gained. read more
