It wasn't all the way frozen so it was super runny but the other batch was way too hard to scoop so we compromised! Coffee and chocolate mixed ice cream with brownies, Heath, and Reese's peanut butter cup was chocolate heaven! I've been craving all things chocolate and it was the perfect mix of all things yummy. They have so many different ice cream and mix in choices that the possibilities are endless! There's no way you can't find a concoction perfect for you! They even have a hot chest ice cream!!! Well, it's sweet cream ice cream and then they add hot Cheetos all crumbled up and mixed in. The man behind the counter was nice enough to mix up a little cup and we all tried a sample. They had no waffle bowls, and they were out of almost all of the ice cream and waffle cone flavors. Prior to purchasing, I had been 4 points away from earning a $5 coupon. When I asked to scan my rewards code, he said the rewards system was down. So I got no credit for my purchase. This was already a terrible experience, but to top it off, after I made my purchase and was eating outside with my family, the cashier came outside and said he forgot to charge me for one of my items. So instead of letting it go, to make up for the negative experience due to the missing items and non functioning rewards system, I had to go back inside and pay again. I used to love Marble Slab, but after this experience I will likely not be back. Just one more establishment that charges you way more, and gives you way less with a negative customer experience to boot. read more

Used to love this place as a kid. Coming back after all these years I never realized how dark and gloomy it was inside. Not very inviting. We waited almost 5 minutes before the employees came from the back to greet us. Half the ice creams we wanted needed restocking even though it was barely noon and nobody was in there. There was also crumbs all over the floor, and the trash can was sticky and disgusting. Ordered two small cups and had to return mine cause there was a hair in it. Signed up for their rewards in their website. Went to go use the "free birthday reward" (on the day of my birthday) that populated in my profile and drive all the way up there only to be told they they can't honor it because it's not set up yet so that location (whatever that means). That was recently and I talked to a co-worker of mine that just went and they said nothing and honored theirs. ~EDIT: I just went and read a review from 2015 where someone had the same exact experience - tablet not set up to scan coupon and they won't honor it and they'll be "getting it soon". Always loved Marble Slab when it first opened. Unfortunately, to keep up with our poor economy, the ice cream that I could buy a gallon of HEB for for about $8 costs me $7 here for 2 scoops. But there's "unlimited mix in's"! Regardless, there's about 20 people in here and one person working. No. One. Else. And it's 9:30. I started writing this at 9:15 when I stepped in line. Very pregnant and craving ice cream, I went in with my husband on 4th of July to get ice cream. Their Google listing says they close at 9 but no times posted on door. We were patiently waiting while the young girl helped another family in front of us. 5 minutes after waiting the girl says 'just so y'all know we close at 8' I looked down and It was 8 exactly which means we got there at 7:55. Us and another couple walked out. I'm sure the owner wouldn't be too happy missing out on the $ and customers she just ran off. We won't be back! read more

Ice cream was great, workers were very happy to see us and we were greeted with smiles. But the manager or owner I'm guessing came in and had a very bad attitude, was belittling his workers INFRONT of customers and was almost yelling at them when they were trying to work. They weren't doing anything wrong just mixing in our toppings and he was still trying to tell them they were wrong. You could tell they were distressed by him. Ridiculous, and he was rude to us when checking out. He made them give us the smallest amount of ice cream even though we paid $20 for two ice creams. Savanna was the girl making our ice cream and it really grinds my gears because she was just trying to work and he was in here yelling at them and then HE messed up our ice cream. Poor workers don't deserve the crappy boss they have. read more

I hate writing bad reviews of small businesses, but I have to in this case to help warn other people. I have had two bad experiences with this Marble Slab. 1)I went in with a "Happy Birthday" voucher from the Marble Slab Club. The voucher clearly states you get a free cone or small cup with unlimited mix-ins. The owner refuses to give me the ice cream because he confuses the "Happy Birthday coupon" with their other promotion of a free cone/cup with the purchase of ice cream. When I show him that it is the "Happy Birthday coupon," he realizes that it does include the ice cream. He says, "I know this coupon." I ask him for Amaretto ice cream with strawberries. He then says mix ins are extra. I tell him that the voucher states unlimited mix ins. He says, "I am giving you the ice cream for free, you have to pay for mix ins. I know this coupon." I give up at this point because he is shouting at me. He then proceeds to give me the smallest scoop of ice cream. 2)I bought a Groupon for an ice cream cake last year. I go to pick up the order. The store is closed when the hours online say that it will be open. The owner apparently had decided to just close the store maybe because business was slow that day. I call the next day before heading over to the store. The owner said that he was closing early, so I rush over to pick up the cake. A word of advice to the owner...do not scream at your customers, get your voucher/coupons straight, and open the store when you say it will be open. Worst service ever. read more

He did try to sell the larger cake for $10 more, but I was only feeding two people, so I declined. The owner seemed like he was hurting for business. The groupon deal is definitely a bait and switch! Their 8 inches cake is not 8 inches at all. It's very small. I called to order a birthday cake on 7/20/11 at noon and pick up on 7/21 evening. A male clerk answered the call, and gave me three options: strawberries and cream, Swiss chocolate or Oreo. I chose Swiss chocolate. And he asked my name. I gave him all the information. And he asked if I use the groupon. I said yes. But when I got there on 7/21, they told me they don't have my order. And they don't have 8 inches cake for me, but they have a big Swiss chocolate cake for me, and I have to pay $9 extra for that. I was shocked that I had a call to reserve and they switched it to something more expensive. I should just go to HEB. But I was in a hurry. So I paid extra to get the cake. I asked the store staff to decorate the cake. She said they only have one color, red. She only can write letters with red. I asked if she can make it colorful. She said no, red is the only color she can do. HEB ice cream cake has more color options and also thicker. Marble Slab ice cream cake is pretty thin and expensive. read more

Once again, great ice cream but the cleanliness of this location concerns me. So I went back this evening right before closing. I came in as the employees were finishing moping the floors. The smell of bleach was a welcomed scent since my last visit. Upon further inspection, it appears the girls didn't do such a good job moping or cleaning the pieces of candies on the counter. No big deal. Then, I visited bathroom. They had soap tonight, but no toilet paper! The bathroom was filthy on appearance. The toilet didn't flush properly, the sink handles need repair, and no signs to remind employees to wash up. But, the worst part once again is the overwhelming smell of old urine. I left only 30 minutes ago and had to write a review as soon as I got home. What happened to this place? I live right by the Maggie Moos in the La Frontera shopping center and they've been out of what I want the last few times we went....so I decided to go to the place I frequented before Maggie Moos. I ordered the double dark chocolate which looked exactly like their Swiss chocolate, with peppermint patties mixed in, and had it put in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. The girl helping us didn't smile once, and when she put the whopping TWO peppermint patties in she wasn't wearing gloves. WTF? To add insult, instead of mixing them in she just mashed the 2 together to become 1 glob of candy amongst a lot of plain ice cream. I was charged $1 for two friggin pieces of fun size peppermint patties, and the amount of ice cream was so minuscule I had to take off the entire chocolate dipped part of the cone off before I got to the ice-cream. Effing ridiculous. I'm never going back to them or MM's. Total waste of money, I'll just go to HEB and make it myself. Get it together, your shop sucks. read more

DON'T EVER GO THERE! I purchased a Groupon that was $11 for an 8" cake. When I called to place my order for my Dad's birthday I was only given 3 flavors to choose from (which was not stated in the Groupon) and they told me if I wanted the 8" I would have to pay $6 more dollars. Obviously, this company did not think things through when they offered this Groupon and are now trying to screw everyone who bought this Groupon because they are losing too much money. Also, there telephone is to a cellphone that 9 times out of 10 goes straight to a generic voicemail. What kind of business is being run over there??? It is a pretty nice little place, and you get some high quality ice cream. It is the kind of place that you have to go intentionally ... it is in a pretty hard area to just see and say, "Hey Ice cream, lets go there" .... most of the restaurants in the area have soft serve, and since you are already there it is easier. BUT, it is worth the walk over to check it out. It has the feeling of a place that wants to be like Amy's but then it has a part that is saying they want to be like Baskin Robbins, it is a strange feeling. The Dark Chocolate is nice and bitterer, I get a mix with the swiss chocolate, it is a nice play on the sweet/bitter. others are a fan of white chocolate, strawberries and coconut ..... They can't touch Amy's with this combo.... sorry. If your in the area and want to try a big chain this is pretty good, but if you are going in the direction of Amy's go a block or two out of your way and skip the slab. read more

He was super helpful and professional with my family but had nightmare customers that started to FaceTime not 1, 2 but 3 family members showing all the ice cream selections while tasting the ice cream. I went here today with my aunt on the way to the mall. It was a positive experience. The guy working had to be a manager or owner. He was so nice! A little overly chatty and upselling too much for my taste, but he was very accommodating. He offered us samples first thing after greeting us and we ordered. He wasn't super familiar with the recipes for some of the signature style creations, but he did pretty good. I haven't been to a marble slab in years, but it seemed up to par compared to how I remember it. Customer service is huge in my book, so two thumbs up to that.
