The Marathon Coffee establishment has an ideal layout. The indoor aesthetic is unmatched and has a rainy day, calm coffee shop vibe. The coffee decorations surround the customer with feelings of warmth and welcome. The service at this establishment is terrific. The accepting welcoming greeting of the baristas are quite like none other. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for, and the coffee is exceptional as well. Overall, I really enjoy my visits to the shop, they are active on socials as well! There is indoor and outdoor seating with a wonderful aesthetic. I would definitely return to this establishment many times over. I feel like I have not put enough stress on how kind the service was to me during my visit, they are extremely helpful and take your order with pride. I love it here because they have pink coffee cup tops and it's a kind of think that you can make custom made for your Cadillac or convertible Chevy. Or it can look like Barbie pink as well. There is outdoor seating and two tables outside, and a little bit of seating on the inside. The latte was full of good foam, and the place had a CRUFFIN with strawberries, which were preserved and cheesecake and the filling was really good and sweet. There was also a lot of filling which was a great surprise. I always get so disappointed with dessert when the filling is a small dot but Marathon's cruffin had so much yummy filling. Tiny locals neighborhood coffee joint which offers up a tasty cup of java. Nice and clean spot. Friendly service. No real seating other than a few seats by the small front window area. During nice weather they place a few tables on the sidewalk. Limited menu of pasty items and bagels also available. There is a holiday drink menu and the peppermint mocha hit the spot on a cold afternoon. Not a large menu overall but what they do offer is done well. Decently priced too. So sad because the store is a super cute hole in the wall, and I absolutely love their branded cups for hot drinks. It's not in the photo, but the lid is like a light pastel PINK. THAT IS SO FUN. More places should have more colorful cups because it was so pretty with the light blue cup. But... this review is for the iced rose cardamom latte, which came recommended by the cashier as one of their new drinks. I generally love spiced, flavored, coffee, but this was just...bad. I am very sad about it. I couldn't tell if the coffee was good or not because I was so focused on the fact that the flavor was So. Bad. I'm talking from the MOMENT you take a sip to the experience of having it on your tongue, to the aftertaste. There's something not only bitter but also sour(??) about it. I just cannot un-recommend it enough. I'd be willing to give this place another shot just because this is one of so many drinks on the menu and I'm a ginormous sucker for cute packaging. read more

My friend recommended this place in the Upper East Side since it's quick and has reasonably priced drinks. I tried the spiced matcha latte, which was a fall special with matcha, honey, and cinnamon. I thought it was a great balance of sweetness and spice! There isn't too much variety in the menu, so I would only come here to get more of the basic coffee drinks. read more

Marathon Coffee has been open a while now. I've been visiting numerous times and always find the employees friendly and efficient. I've talked to the owner a couple of times. They are working on serving a hot food menu and bringing back the bagels and cream cheese. I'm looking forward to eating some breakfast with my coffee. I've got my favorite seat in the window. I'm a big fan of Marathon Coffee though I haven't tried the coffee - just the matcha. Sometimes it feels like matcha and other teas are an afterthought at coffee shops and at marathon that's just not the case. I've had the spiced matcha latte with oat milk twice now and I'm obsessed. It's a great flavor that is lightly sweetened and has a holiday flavor to it with the cinnamon. Even when there's been a short line it only takes a few minutes to get my order and the service is friendly and welcoming. Yum! I ordered a Chai with espresso and the mix they used had such a nice blend of spices. Cute restaurant and mugs, too; I would honestly continue coming just for the cups but luckily the coffee I tried was good, too. I've been here maybe 4 times now? Solid drip coffee (and I like strong, roasty Starbucks coffee so this is saying something -- something good IMO :) ). My boyfriend once tried some flavored latte and it was too sweet (but that's often the case with those -- maybe we should ask for less pumps of syrup or whatever they use next time). Food-wise I've had the veggie quiche twice and really liked it. Also the cups are really cute. Lol. Wish it was an even *slightly* bigger space so there could be more seating. They're always playing good music in there and I would love to stay a while and work, read, or chat with a friend. In any case, happy to have this place right by me! Wanted something different for my usual Dunkin Donuts pick-me-up. I decided to come here in the morning and the place looks really nice and clean. However, the cappuccino I ordered was straight up a SCAM. Tasted terrible and the amount they give you for what you pay is absurd! $4.50 for half a cup. Sizes they serve are small and large.
