Ordered from DoorDash for lunch with friends. It took awhile for them to prep our orders. It was delivered to us so I can't comment on the ambiance. I got their all day breakfast - steak and eggs with toast. It was disappointingly small. On the app, this costed $10.50. The steak was very chewy and thin. The bread was toasted but I don't think it was buttered. With delivery, it did get soggy. The toast was placed in a separate bag. I just put it with the rest of the food in the photo for convenience. I also got a milk tea ($6) - it's ok. It's sweet enough (no choice in ice and sweetness levels) and more on the creamier side. Even my friends' orders seemed small - satay beef noodle soup and Hainanese chicken rice (not pictured). The good thing about the Hainanese chicken is that they deboned it. Overall 3/5. Supposedly if you dine in, drinks are included in the meals. I may try and go in store to try food from their menu.
Came here as a recommendation of family who lives in Toronto. I would say very solid, tasty food and drinks. That milk tea definitely is *chef's kiss which I ordered hot, the pineapple bread with chicken was so delicious it's perfect. The Hong Kong style French toast is lovely after. Very fattening, but so worth it. It is cheap as well. The style is order at the front desk first. It is definitely a no frills type place which is fine with me. Ambiance feels like quick go to cafe but otherwise is clean.
Ordered to go. The place was not so busy but staff was a little disorganized when retrieving my order. The restaurant has many 2 top tables that can be arranged to suit any size party. The decor is dark and not the brightly lit of many of the newer cafes. The food... for $17.xx not sure what to expect but the baked beef w/ tomato sauce over rice was very over done and tough. Definite not worth repeating. The milk tea... felt it was not very rich and smooth like others describe as many other shops craft up a better HK milk tea in my opinion.
Had to come here to try their award winning milk tea! So smooth, silky and fragrant. Felt like I was transported back to HK and drinking a cup of milk tea from Lan Fong Yuen. Would be nice if they could place sugar packets on the tables so customers can adjust the sweetness themselves.
It's been a while since I last came here. It's a cafe where you place and pay for your order at the counter first. Then you can grab a seat to stay and eat or do take out. I only come here when I'm in the area and absolutely craving for their milk tea. Their milk tea is so good! It's rich and strong in flavor. I came on a Friday morning. It's always so busy here. I got their combo satay beef with instant noodle, egg sandwich and cold HK milk tea for $14.90. The prices have certainly gone up and the portion is a lot smaller. For $15 plus taxes it doesn't seem to be really worth it to be honest. As much as I love their milk tea, I don't think I would come back as often as I would like before.

There was a table of staff having their lunch, so we asked them if we just seat ourselves. We ordered at the heavily plexiglassed counter, paid, and then waited for our food. The food was mediocre, nothing special. This was actually a bit disappointing since people rave about their HK milk tea. I guess the food just isn't as good.
Heard a lot about the place from my mom who loves a good cup of milk tea. We finally get to try it today. It is as advertised, very strong and concentrated. Nothing fancy and even the cup isn't fancy. It is a lot stronger than your regular milk tea. It has been a couple of hours I can still taste the tea in my mouth. It surely reminds me of the milk tea in Hong Kong. If you like strong tea, this is your place, if your stomach cannot take strong tea, you may want to go elsewhere.
Tasty HK milk tea but the food is sort of pricy. Their milk tea is wonderfully strong and creamy, just the way I like it. However, their foods a sort of pricy for what they are. It feels very "homemade" but with a $5-10 price tag. Their food is good, don't get me wrong, but it's just good--not great. The food also comes a bit cooked down, which give it a bit of a microwaved-feeling--even if it may not be. There are some other HK cafes that I think are doing this way better than Marathon. As wonderful as their awards are, ultimately that's in the past. They haven't kept up with competition who are offering tastier and more price competitive food and drinks.
I was craving some HK style breakfast and decided to try out Marathon café. They also open early at 6:30am! Satay Beef Noodle Soup - I usually go for vermicelli but decided to try udon this time. It was good, but udon doesn't really soak up the satay flavour as well as vermicelli. The satay beef was very flavourful though! 3.75/5 Hong Kong style milk tea - this was BOMB. Probably the best milk tea I have had in a while. It was so smooth and tea flavour was also strong 5/5 I would definitely recommend the milk tea! It's a must try for anyone!
Richmond Court is closed for renovation so this is now where we go for our HK Cafe experience. They have award winning milk tea and it doesn't disappoint. We will come back to try more but we had the usual satay beef instant noodles with fried egg and also live up to all the other reviews. The decor is fine if you set your expectation that it's the Hong Kong local neighbourhood joint vibe. Everything is clean and tidy and the staff is super friendly. Note: it's cash only (surcharge even if you use debit card). So bring your sanitzer. :)
This cafe got a good natural charm to it. The pineapple bun with pork chop is crazy good. The milk tea taste traditional af and voted the best. The service is kind of what you expect of an Asian restaurant, whatever you want to perceive that as. The place is very popular at certain times so sometimes it can get loud in places like these but if you don't mind all that sound, you'll get the best kind of food, the hidden gems. Would come here again for a quick bite or even stay for a long dine. Whatever the vibes are I enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back when I'm near this place.
Their cold milk tea is amazing. I am not a huge milk tea person, but enjoy every single sip. The food wasn't that good though. They look like an authentic HK cafe so I thought their tomato sauce baked pork chop rice would be bomb, but it was such a disappointment. I don't know if they purée their sauce, but it's almost orange and doesn't taste like tomatoes. The double baked bolognese wasn't bad, but some part of it was a bit cold/ not evenly baked, maybe? We also got the condensed milk bun, it was ok, but there was a bit too much bread for the amount of butter/condensed milk we had. They have a few tables available for dinning in. We had to order in the front, and then they bring the food to you. The service was pretty good. There's a 25cent fee to pay with debit card. Will be back for their milk tea for sure, not so much the food though.

I ordered curry chicken rice with hot coffee. Not very busy only 2 tables were occupied. You basically look at the menu yourself and order at the front so no need to pay tips as you'll be prepaying when you order. There wasn't too many a generous amount of meat and potatoes in the curry. Rice is standard Asian bowl amount. I didn't find it spicy at all, it was actually a little bit sweet. It was still during the afternoon teatime special so the combo with tea or coffee was $15 so pretty good. Not too much traffic when we were there, I think I only saw one take out and another table sit in so it was pretty quiet. The cafe is specious. read more

A friend came from Montreal and stayed at my place. We thought it was a good opportunity to go to the famous Marathon Cafe to have a HK-style breakfast. The indoor decoration is very simple. A bit hard to describe, but it felt like a vegetarian restaurant in Taiwan Maybe it was because there were some "Zen" or Buddhism-like phrases on the wall. The whole restaurant was full of Traditional Chinese characters. It even sold 明報 (Ming News paper), I bought one to read with my breakfast. Speaking of the breakfast, I would not say their food was healthy...but the flavour was not bad. The coffee was so-so, maybe I should've added milk or cream. Lol, found a divey old fashion dingy window hong kong style cafe close to home, how lucky am I. Walked in, grab your own menu at the service counter, take any available seat on your own, peruse the menu items, go back to to counter to order. Reminded me of the old HKG days where smoking was allowed and working class diners placed their bare feet on chairs and tables while eating, yeah, no shame back then, bring back those days! TV monitors on wall displaying HKG dramas to watch while waiting for your food order. Their known signature milk tea comes in a paper cup. Hot and creamy smooth, very nice on a cold day. Ordered their pork chop with instant noodles and corned beef egg sandwich Pork chop was thick and tender with a nice pan fried crust. Instant noodles are instant noodles, somehow tastes better when someone else is making it for you. Corn beef egg sandwich was ok. Bread was as soft as freshly fallen snow. Generous amounts of corned beef, eggs slightly overcook which tended to dry out the overall sandwich. Loved the atmosphere but food was nothing to write home about, then again my expectations were not high so not disappointed. It's a good coping mechanism for me, don't expect too much and you'll avoid being disappointed. Would I go back, sure would read more

1L M I L K T E A Really hoping that you don't LACTOSE genes to process dairy because their milk and tea for sure STEEPED together for OOLONG time create this amazing milk tea ~ -ALL DAY BREAKFAST offered ! -Online ordering made convenient on their website -They also sell W A G Y U -Offers party trays and party sized drinks :D -[1L OF MILK TEA] $11.00 Yes, I am a milk tea lover! If one liter sounds like a lot to you, it's because it is :D It took me more than three days (you should finish this WITHIN 3 days) to consume this by myself because I am the only one who enjoys milk tea in my household haha. I personally don't enjoy drinks that are too sweet so the only thing I would change is asking for them to make it with less sugar next time :D Highly recommend buying their milk tea in bulk like this if you're a milk tea lover too ~ read more

Love Marathon cafe milk tea! I used to order medium hot milk tea with extra milk, and that's the perfect ratio for me. During covid, their website offer order online pick up in store for 10% off and it is convenient! They also work with other food delivery Apps and special discounts are available on those platforms too. I also got a fried rice noodle with beef, excellent packaging and huge portion. I will recommend this place to my friend. read more

Order nicely satay beef instant noodle set with hong kong style milk tea and egg sandwiches. Size portion is a bit small. But still the taste for the food had decent flavour. This review is strictly based on their milk tea. I heard a lot of good things about the milk tea here, including that it has won some awards (you can see it all over the front door when entering). This cafe is located in a small plaza off of Hwy 7 on East Beaver Creek. It has a large green sign with a horse head as their symbol. Parking can be hectic in this plaza during peak times. But otherwise its not too hard to find parking. When you first walk into this cafe, you will find a counter at the back of the restaurant with the words "ORDER HERE" right above the counter. Their menu is hung all around their walls, so as you walk up you can see all the daily specials and offerings, though I was here just for the milk tea. This is not a restaurant where you go, sit down and be served, its more of a cafeteria style setting. Meaning you walk up to the counter, place your order, and if ordering food they will give you a little tent card, you find a place to sit and they bring you your food. During rush hour, they are actually quite busy with take out orders for their drinks. I ordered their large cold milk tea and it came out to $4.75 flat. Their milk tea I found did have a very nice flavor profile. Upon first sip, I found it to be smooth and creamy with a hint of sweetness. It finally ended with a bit of a bitter after taste from the strong black tea they must use. But overall I felt the milk tea is as advertised, its pretty darn good! Also to note, if you feel like playing some lotto they also sell instant lotto cards you can scratch. So you may walk into this cafe for the milk tea, but you may win cash for life as well! read more
Okay, this place definitely does not deserve 1-2 stars, guys. I'm reading these reviews "too expensive", "not good quality" .. I just want to facepalm because well, have you ever been to a HK style cafe??? I came here because it's known for it's milk tea. I don't even drink milk tea ever, because dairy does not sit well with my stomach. (nor does it sit well in anyone's stomach, let's be honest achem achem we weren't meant to drink cow milk). The boyfriend loves milk tea though so we had to venture here, at some point. We didn't even know they had food! Came in here, it was completely empty and literally zero service. Woman didn't glance at me even when I walked up to her. So pretty much you order and then eat. I'm coo' with that. Most people here take out but we sat in. We got two combos - one being $11 with an egg sandwich (made with quality asian bread!!!), a bowl of satay beef instant noodles and a cold hk milk tea. The other one was my satay chicken wing noodles + a cold hk milk tea for around $7-8. That's why I am genuinely confused when I read reviews saying this is not 'worth it' ... DON'T BE SO CHEAP! It was actually a lot of food. The wait was a bit long, but that's because they were making it fresh - my chicken was hot, hot, hot! Good ratio of meat to noodle and egg to bread. The satay chicken wings were HUUUUGEEE and had a lot of sauce. The ho fun I ordered with it tasted higher quality than those cheap little bags you can get at foody mart. And let's not forget the milk tea. I only drank a few sips before I had to run my ass to the washroom. I'm sorry you had to read that but if you're lactose intolerant in the slightest, do not get this because it is so rich in cream? milk? at the same time as it is rich in the caffeine and 'tea' taste. Quality milk tea, if I do say so myself. My boyfriend loved it though and I ended up getting him 1L of milk tea (pls pray for him that he will not drink it all in one sitting) ..you can also get 2L for $15. DIABEEEETUS. Overall, service isn't there but who cares? Food is quality for what you get and please, it's a HK cafe not the keg. Beggars can't be choosers. Don't complain when you get a whole meal for under $10. Great Hong Kong style cafe that opens early. If you know Markham, Toronto, a lot of places open late like 11am. This is one restaurant that opens early so perfect for those looking for early morning meal. We got this for our last meal before heading back to the states. Pricing is reasonable, we got all below pictured for $40! Satay beef noodle set comes with satay noodle, egg sandwich and cold milk tea. The beef was tender. I selected the macaroni with turkey and luncheon meat. The macaroni could've been cooked a bit longer. Husband and I shared the pineapple bun with butter and wonton shrimp soup. Pineapple bun with butter was just ok to me, but I got my Hong Kong fix I guess. Wonton shrimp soup was pretty good, good fresh seafood taste. I tasted sesame oil which is my favorite in any soup. read more

Alright for HK style food. The milk tea is a bit smoother than other HK style cafes nearby, but not totally authentic in flavor -- but still good. This is really the best item I tried as the fried chicken wing and french toast didn't really taste similar to what I had in Hong Kong -- and was quite forgettable. Basically, visit here for the milk tea (probably worth 4 stars) -- but skip everything else. read more

Came here for a late breakfast since ive always wanted to try the porkchop pineapple bun and award winning milk tea. The restaurant itself is kinda dim and a mish mask of things inside but I mean many establishments do the same thing so why not? Pork chop bun: -Pineapple bun was soft, flaky and wasnt overly sweet -Pork chop was so moist, tender and juicy... this is coming from someone who doesnt care for pork chops lol -The sandwich itself comes with lettuce, tomato, mayo and the porkchop but you can add more toppings to it for extra $$$ -loved the combination of flavours, would eat it again -quite messy, get extra napkins Milk tea: -silky smooth -not overly sweet or bitter -doesnt have an after taste -Still has a strong tea presence without being too milky -you will pay extra for it being cold Rice noodle rolls: -Decent portion -the rolls are soft and bouncy Enjoyed everything I got and would recommend! read more

Typical HK style cafe where you actually order and pay first before you seat yourself. Apparently they claim to have won many awards for their Milk Tea. Tried it in the past and it was decent but not outstanding in my mind. Came here for lunch and ordered a Satay Beef Instant Noodles and Egg Sandwich which includes a large beverage. Surprisingly they didn't charge extra for cold drinks which similar places likely will so that's a plus. Satay was actually very good, with nice thick tasting satay flavor. Egg Sandwich was the usual but was hugely disappointed with their Ice Lemon Tea. Drink was warm with literally no ice, taste was flat and overall bitter tasting. Should have stuck to the signature milk tea afterall. Prices were above par for a quick serving cafe like this. Already not being served, the lunch combo cost $10.95+. Definitely overrated and overpriced cafe. read more
Was introduced to this place by my brother as him and his coworkers often drop by for cheap HK style drinks. Prices are quite fair (if you're comparing to BBT giants like Chatime etc). Marathon Cafe is quite popular within the asian community. Its your typical Cha Chan Tang style of food and drinks but I was pleasantly surprised about its cleanliness when I walked in. Usually its not this bright and clean. The workers were friendly, it'd help if you could speak Cantonese though. Ive been a huge fan of ice cream black/milk tea after trying it once in Waterloo but I havent been able to find anywhere from the BBT giants in toronto that offer this. I was estatic when I saw that they had this on their menu. The tea tasted strong and delicious and the ice cream hit the spot. I am interested in coming back and trying more of the items on the menu for sure! read more

It's amazing! I've always wanted to try here but never had the chance to. We picked up breakfast from the Richmond Hill location and got two pineapple pork chop buns and their HK milk tea and lemon tea. It was delicious. If you place an online order now - you'll receive 20% off your first one line order. Note that an online pick up order takes approximately 25 minutes if you choose "NOW" before it's ready so don't get confused by their online ordering system. Will definitely be returning! read more
