Overpriced breakfast. Ordered a standard breakfast with multigrain bread. The toast didn't arrive with the meal and when it did, it was burnt. So I flagged the waitress and told her that the toast was burned. She said, " would you like me to send it back ?" Well DUH! This is the second time going to this restaurant. I returned because it was pretty good the first time. This time, they were moderately busy, with three servers. The food was just OK (definitely not as good as the first time). My complaint is about Valentina. When she delivered the food to the table, my plate inadvertently went to an elderly gentleman in our party. He started eating the food immediately. When she brought the next few dishes, I realized I had received his food. I told her and asked for the potatoes I ordered, rather than the hashbrowns I received. Obviously, you could see that the older gentleman had already started eating from the plate of food. I also noticed that she had placed extra plates on the table. That seemed odd. When she came back around, I said that I was waiting for my potatoes, and Valentina gave me so much attitude as she started aggressively picking up straw wrappers from the table. She said "That is why I gave you those extra plates! So you could slide the potatoes from his plate and give him your hashbrowns." So she expected me to take the food from this man's plate that he had already started eating! I told her I wasn't going to eat from his plate while he was eating from it. She reluctantly went to the kitchen and came back with a small plate of potatoes. Mind you, this bill costs well over $65, for breakfast, and she was ultra cheap about giving me a small plate of potatoes - after SHE gave the dish to the wrong person. She expected me to eat from his plate! What a gross and greedy place. I will never go back!!! Edit to respond to owner: How is dropping off some plates on the table and expecting me to take food off of someone else's plate that he was already eating an authentic attempt to satisfy the customer? And then to give me attitude about it at the table when I asked about the potatoes. There is no excuse for an already pricey restaurant to be extremely greedy about an order mix-up that the server made. The elderly gentleman that she served my plate to did not realize that she had given him my plate. So I'm supposed to eat off of his plate due to her error? We are talking about a little side order of potatoes. Your placating response does not detract from the fact that your restaurant was being cheap about a small plate of potatoes. A restaurant should never ask a customer to take food off of another customer's plate that has already been eaten from!!! read more

I didn't even know this place was there. I saw it on Facebook. I was heading out and was hungry. Saw it and pulled in. It was busy but it was a Sunday. I sat at the counter. My server was wonderful. My OG Benny was fantastic. I don't really care for hash browns but OMG theirs were great. It's bright and welcoming. They have a beautiful espresso machine. Made in house, a raspberry jam. It looks like they are wheat pancakes but not sure, they are a darker color but they are tough. I literally had to use my fork and knife to cut pancakes, that shouldn't be a thing. I'll start by saying the food was good. The service was very good. But here's my complaint to the owners. We ordered two omelettes, we both deleted items from each omelette. One was a meat lovers, I deleted the toast and potatoes(both come with) the other omelette deleted the onion and toast but ask for extra feta. The restaurant charged an extra $2 for the feta but failed to discount the deleted onion, toast(2 orders) and potato's. Had you not added the $2 charge for the extra feta, I would have considered it a wash. If you insist on charging for "add ons" then you should discount for deleted items. Edit for the owners reply: I won't be back, thank you. The audacity you have... first off, I don't mind being charged a fee for something "extra". What I do have a big problem with are restaurants owners like you that are perfectly fine charging a fee for something extra, but when a customer asked to delete an item(s) that are included with the price of the, in this case the omelette, (toast and hash browns are included in the price of $15.99) don't think it's fair to discount the items that are not being served. I'm saving you money, however little, when I ask to delete toast and potatoes. Good luck with your unfair business model. read more

I usually don't write a review, unless it is a positive one to share and help spread the word about a business. Today, unfortunately, I am feeling the need to share my experience at this restaurant. I was meeting a long time friend for breakfast and wanted to find a place that we could hang out for a bit to catch up and drink coffee and have breakfast. We met around 9:20 at Maple Spot and got seated right away. We were given water and ordered coffee. When the coffee came it was just warm, not hot and did not taste good at all. I only drank about half a cup and said no to any refills offered. The food was ok, it was average breakfast food. Nothing that I would say would make me want to go back again, but not terrible. As we were sitting there talking, I noticed the wait staff pushing tables together getting ready for a large group. We were at a table, and I wondered if they were going to ask us to move to a booth so they could have our table. They did not. Then the people from the large group started coming in and taking their seats. As people from the large group continued to file in the door, one of the people from the group said "we are just waiting for those people to leave (my friend and I) so we can get that table". At that same moment, one of the waitresses came and asked us to leave because they needed our table for a group who made a reservation. Now, it was 11:00, we had been there for a little while, not drinking coffee, just water, and we were both probably ready to go. The problem is, we were asked to leave. Not offered a booth to move to, not offered an apology, just told that this group had a reservation and they needed our table so we would have to leave. This is the first time in my life I have ever been asked to leave an establishment. We were both completely shocked at how this was handled. Neither of us would have minded being asked to move to another spot, we would have probably just left anyway, but to be asked to leave was disgraceful. There were only two or three booths occupied, the rest were empty, so we could have been offered a booth, or they could have seated some of the large party guests in a booth as the tables were not all together anyway. I am aware that this is the misjudgment of an employee, however it reflects very poorly on the owners and the training and expectations of their staff. read more

I was at Maple Spot in Macomb/Chesterfield Township on 2 Oct. This was my 6th time in one month. Jordan W. was my waitress this time. Jordan was very cordial and attentive. She even offered a suggestion on an additional dressing to try with the Strawberry Chicken salad. Both the menu recommended raspberry vinaigrette dressing and the "glaze dressing" that Jordan suggested were excellent. I have tried the (1) Chicken and Waffles, (2) OG Benny, (3) Corn Beef Hash, (4) a Chicken Wrap, and (5) the Banana Foster French Toast. All very good. Maple Spot is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant. So glad this new restaurant is something different than the many coney island"ish" restaurants nearby. My initial feeling is that this restaurant is like something I might find in Bloomfield Hills. Prices were reasonable and the quality of food was excellent.
