Made a trip to pick up crafts to make necklaces for a baby shower. And a few other things. I'm very glad to have stopped here! The staff was so very helpful. They had some necklaces already made, a woman at the counter was making them. But my daughter wanted to make ours herself, and the sales woman walked the store with us to help find everything we needed to make them complete. She even pointed out that one spool of ribbon would make 24 necklaces to guesstimate how many spools would be needed! Everything had price tags on it, and organized so that was helpful. Feeling Crafty? Maple Craft used to be my go-to place for craft materials and supplies. It still is for some items, like customized ribbons, tiny jars, or craft knick knacks. They have so many raw materials that you need for making favors, gifts, celebration, etc. However, their prices are no longer as competitive. Some items are actually more expensive than Michael's. Sad. I still go here once in a while. The second floor houses their discount items, and you might be able to find some cool little things for your parties. read more

This is the ultimate party supply store! If you are planning a baby shower, birthday party, wedding, etc this is the place to go! They have so many decoration items that can be used alone or for DIY projects. I came to get decorations for my friend's baby shower and ended up finding a bunch of items I needed and the prices were reasonable. Although this place is awesome, some of the employees offered to help but when I asked about certain items they would say they didn't have it and then 5 min later I would find that item or something similar. Better customer service involves employees knowing the inventory and also making recommendations. With that said, even if an employee tells you they don't have something, continue to look around! read more

This is really the best craft store in the area! Very impressive. I was put in charge of making party favors for a friend's wedding shower. OMG! I'm not a girly girl, I can surf, snowboard like a pro, but when it comes to arts and craft, cooking and sewing, I'm a complete idiot. While cursing my friend for assigning me the task of making party favors, I found this store and the staff there was super helpful and they had tons of samples I could copy. I went to Maplecraft because Yelp recommended them as number one in the garment district. What an utter disappointment. The store was not only dirty and difficult to navigate, the sales staff were shockingly rude. I tried to inquire from two different sales people the availability of certain items. I was polite, starting my question with please, and yet both salesladies were dismissive and almost borderline nasty. This might be the store to find baby shower items, albeit quite cheap ones, but this is not a craft store as the name would indicate. I walked over to Moskatels to actually find a true, expansive, craft store with wonderful sales people. Don't waste your time with Maplecraft! read more

Not the greatest prices. This was the first place I went to and I'm so glad I didn't buy much or I would have been pissed! Rhinestone ribbon mesh was $20 yet 2 doors down it was $10 and the cheapest I found was $5.50 across the street at Dong Bo Trading Co so go there for your trim. For flowers go to American Crafts & Floral better and cheaper trust me I walked around for hours and took notes for my fellow yelpers ;-) read more

I needed to get a few materials for my wedding and I came in knowing the 4 things I wanted. Lola was in the middle of her tasks but happily asked if I needed help. I parked across the street ($3 for the first 15 minutes ONLY so FYI for those who are looking for parking- don't let the signs fool you!) and was short on time. Within 12 minutes I got my tulle (even switched out the colors from gold to pink and cream because the other colors fit better with my overall vision), two different colored ribbons and a special type ribbon with gold accents. Lola was extremely friendly and helpful. If you need any wedding and decoration supplies for any event, I would recommend Maple Crafts! The experience, friendliness of staff, and location all contribute to my recommendation of this place. read more

They have a lot of inventory but no one around to provide customer service or ask for help. Parking can be difficult on the street if you come during the weekend. However, there are parking garages available. If you are looking for baby shower decorations this is your place. All other parties, you should look elsewhere. read more

They have single sided ribbon, 100 yards for $4.99. The ribbon by the yard is $1 for 2 yards, I think. They have little packages of decorations you can string or hot glue gun onto your crafts. Parking is $6 for the day. Or $3 for 15 minutes. They have thick and thin ribbon in various colors. Some of the ribbon has occasional streaks or slight imperfections every once in a while, but not noticable once you finish your project most likely. Next time I will ask for the double sided ribbon. You can get a 15 percent discount right away if you check in on Yelp, posting a picture and writing a quick statement of what you are doing/ buying there. read more

Their big pacifiers were $3.99/dz when compared to others at $1.20/dz (go to United Crafts on 7th) when I told the cashier at Maple Crafts about a discount because of how many I was getting she didn't budge. My best friend and her mom and sister were shopping around downtown for decor for her wedding. We walked by this store and decided to go in. We entered 10 minutes before they were about to close. With this in mind we hurried to not make anyone have to stay beyond closing time on account of us. HOWEVER, the owner of the shop was extremely rude and started getting loud with my friend AND her mother. The owner started rushing and telling them to "hurry up" when they were already at the counter wanting to check out. When the ridiculousness kept going, even the employees were shaking their heads and telling us "sorry. she's always like this." Choice words were also used to describe this woman. We decided to leave without patronizing anything from her store and got exactly what we needed FOR CHEAPER right across the street! Go to Craft Depot or there's a smaller store right across the street from this place. Customers are the Gold to any business, but management at this place doesn't seem to value that fact. read more

Extremely expensive!! I admit they have great selection of everything under one roof, but the prices are twice of Party City or other major stores. Some items you can find in 99 cent store or dollar store and they sell it for as much as $10. They are packed and busy all the time because people assume it is cheap because of their location. And if you are here in summer, good luck there is no air condition and it gets crazy hot inside the store. read more

If you like to craft and need party items or gift items, this is the place for you! I'm a big crafter and I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here as my staple craft supply store for years. They have everything from ribbon, tulle, organza bags, butterflies, bows, etc. Pretty much everything you need to make things for baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, parties, etc. The best part is the price (it's very inexpensive!) as well as the ease of being able to purchase items in a single quantity versus having to buy everything in bulk. You can buy items in bulk too but also at a lower cost. The store is pretty large and has an upstairs and downstairs so there is a lot to look at! Everything is organized and grouped together and it's a very clean store compared to others in Downtown LA and it's located right across the street from Michael Levine. Even better is that I recently found out that they have an online store! That makes things so much easier with everything that I can get at the click of a button. It's a must stop for me whenever I'm in Downtown! Love this place so much! read more

I love this place. It's actually classed up quite a bit, the supplies and decorations have gone from being super tacky to being surprisingly cute. I would suggest buying as much as you can in bulk, you will save. Even if you don't want to purchase here you can find a lot of cute ideas, however it will be cheaper than Michael's or Joann's. Don't even bother using the meter, park on Wall between 7th and 8th, it usually costs about $4 as opposed to the $3 hour on the meter! I would suggest coming on the week days as the weekends get super packed. Also if you're coming on the weekend parking will cost more, and the likelihood of finding one of those $3 meters is highly unlikely!! read more

This is one of my favorite craft stores in downtown LA for sure. They have a huge selection and you can find most of your crafts for your upcoming parties. The staff is really friendly but I can't say the same about the manager. She just always seems bothered by the customers. I wish she would just smile and say "hello" more. It's the little things. I went to Michael's and found a few things, but so expensive T.T I was so glad there's yelp and lovely yelpers to lead me back to sanity! I think out of all the craft stores in the fashion district, this one is the biggest. They have a wide selection of ribbon (I think bigger than Stats) and favors for any event. They have more baby shower stuff though. I bought a bird cage here for $5 for my wedding and oriental trading company had one for $20! You can't beat that! You can look at my birdcage on one of my pictures ( I went wedding crazy and it's on my head). Only problem is that their wire sculptures are unfinished. But then you can get creative with the ribbon and fabric they sell there. I also bought 12 wire tulips about 12 inches tall for about $13. They have a better, wider selection than some of the similar craft stores in that area. I know I am coming here for baby shower stuff. read more
