He picked up some items and accessories he needs, we also got a roll of pattern paper and a yard of fabric he will use to "practice with" Service is easy - pick a fabric and bring it to the table and they'll cut it for you. Spent $80 on a bunch of stuff. Let's see if my son actually makes something out of it. He did enjoy looking and browsing over their fabrics and accessories.

I was on a mission to locate sparkly, colorful and fun fabric for my niece's upcoming school production of The Wizard of Oz. I am working my way toward winning the Uncle of the Year award, so it was important I got things right! I crisscrossed my way through the Fashion District by car several times, then parked and dove right in! Honestly, I was very lucky to park near Textiles Alma and stumble into their store first. From the moment I stepped foot in their shop, the entire family made sure I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. They have a wide variety of fabric perfect for interior decorators and designers making tablecloths, chair linings, curtains and drapes. I found satin, chiffon, organza, poplin, sequined fabric, feathered material and so much more. I ended up spending nearly $300 for a giant pile of fabric that filled the trunk of my car. Having priced this fabric elsewhere, I know I could have easily spent double at chain crafting store. The family running the store were incredibly helpful, so friendly, and went above and beyond making sure I left with everthing I needed. The fabric I purchased ranged from $5 a yard, to $20 a yard, and I didn't experience any unnecessary negotiating. Prices weren't marked, but having done my research I felt comfortable with the prices they quoted me. What I love most about this shop is that it's a family-run business. The mother, father and daughter were there to help with every aspect of customer service; locating material, moving bundles around, cutting fabric, and carrying it to my car. I received full-service from the nicest people on the planet. It was helpful I speak a little Spanish, but I noticed there were several english speaking employees available as well. YES, sometimes their prices can be $$ compared to other retailers either online or in Santee that require much more browsing frankly. They do have any online website but judging by some other reviews here, might not be great at keeping it up to date. Parking in Santee is always challenging, do not be swayed by the cheap $3 parking advertisements to lure you into a parking structure only for them to demand $20 parking. If you have time and aren't buying a lot (and therefore don't have to carry much), browse the surrounding streets for street metered parking. You may have to walk several blocks but I promise that is the cheapest parking you will find. Blue Moon carries the MOST color variances in spandex as well as spandex TEXTURE, PRINTS, and even glow in the dark (!!!) that you will find in DTLA. If you are hyper specific for a certain color, come here, you will almost certainly find it. They carry both 2-way and 4-way stretch spandex as well as sweat wicking activewear spandex. As someone who needs specific colors of spandex and enjoys browsing, Blue Moon is so great for me.

I've been shopping here since 2007 and have always been satisfied with my purchases. While some fabrics are priced higher than 99 cents, it's still a bargain than buying from JoAnn's. I've made many an evening gown, sailor scout, pretty cure, etc from these high quality satins. The high qualtiy satins usually run at 1.99 a yard with a 3 yard minimum purchase, but it's still a hell of a deal. I've long moved from LA to the the east coast. This is my go-to place still for high qualtiy satins at a bargain. Check it out if you're in the area! Tip: Remember to always, always wash your fabric after purchase. While this is a no-brainer, fabric bought from the LA fashion district is outside and God knows where that fabric has been. Always, always wash!
