If you're a label whore they have designer fabrics as well...Balenciaga, Versace & lots of designer denim as well. The sales people are all very knowledgeable. Zoey helped me out today. She really knows her stuff and was so informative. She was very patient helping me to decide what textile was best for the project I was working on. She was also super friendly and seemed to like her job a lot. I hope to see her again next time I'm there. They also carry my fav, Liberty, gasp! Their selection is unmatched. You want to be dripping in "diamonds" they have that fabric in MULTIPLE colors. You want Missoni like prints but don't want to pay Missoni $, they have an abundance. If you have all the time in the world, don't mind hopping from shop to shop, paying for expensive parking, and speak multiple languages to be able to communicate, the garment district is your best option. Yes the prices are higher here than the garment district, but you're paying for extreme convenience. Everything is all in one place, parking is plentiful and free , they stay open much later than the garment district, they have a points program, they have free patterns if you sign up for their newsletter. They also have a selection of trims, notions, buttons, and they have a HUGE selection of upholstery fabrics as well. The biggest problem with this shop is that there's TOO MUCH GOOD STUFF! read more

Now that all the Joann's are gone there aren't any really good places to get fashion fabrics close by. Mood Fabrics is worth the drive and they are so friendly! Mood is an amazing asset to the sewing community in Los Angeles. I was shopping for bridal veil fabric and had so many options to choose from that I couldn't find anywhere else. The quality and selection surpassed everything I had seen in the fabric district. Plus, lots of natural fiber fabrics and European imports. The only complaint is that service is hit or miss. Sometimes you can't find anyone who'll acknowledge you and other times they will go above and beyond. Still, I absolutely love this place and will always recommend it. read more

I usually order high-end fabrics from Mood that I can't find in local fabric stores, but my recent experience was highly disappointing, especially for a company that advertises high quality and premium fabric. I purchased 0.5 yards of silk duchesse satin at $74.99/yard. Two days after placing the order, I was contacted by a rep (Vanessa) who informed me that the only available cut had some minor damage near the selvage. They offered a mere 0.25-yard store credit, which hardly compensates for damage to such an expensive and limited quantity of fabric (and isn't even equal to the price of the fabric I bought). They also refused a higher store credit or partial refund. What's even more frustrating is that the same fabric still shows as in stock on their website (181 yards available) so I'm not sure why I was told this was the last piece. I expect honesty and consistency from a company selling premium materials, so this is just beyond disappointing Normally, I'd overlook small imperfections, but this is silk duchess satin a luxury fabric that needs to be flawless, especially when ordering only half a yard. I explained that the damage could make the piece unusable for my project, and again they refused to offer a better credit or cut. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait or order from somewhere else as my order was for a wedding next week. Sadly, this experience has destroyed my trust in Mood. For the price I paid and the way the issue was handled, I expected far better. Never ordering from them again. read more

First time visiting this location but it will be the last. Drove from San Diego since there aren't any options for fabric stores. We walked in and weren't greeted or welcomed in, instead we were just starred at. The only nice person there was Mariah Everyone else had a fucking attitude or were rude. I really wasn't expecting this type of treatment at the LA location. The NYC mood is way better and the people who work their are nice, helpful and welcoming. I'd rather fly to NYC and buy everything I need than ever come to this LA location. There was a "Steven" that had an attitude problem when asked questions regarding things that were part of his job. There was another person who was rude af and she apparently was from Syria....i could hear her telling a customer she was from Syria but didn't catch the name....she was the cherry on top! Towards the end of my shopping experience. No personality, lacked in customer service, manners, professionalism and overall nasty person...especially towards me. Looks like they took the reviews on here seriously about people not being able to find help, because they couldn't STOP bugging me yesterday. I was in Tuesday 02/18/25 around 3pm. As a designer I can be extremely indecisive about what I'm looking for, which can result in me taking longer to shop for fabric. The same associate came up to me three times in 15 mins, and then after four other people asked me if I needed help, even though I told the first person "I'll let you know if I need any help." I get it. I am taking a long time to pick something out, but that doesn't mean I'm lost or am having trouble finding anything. I've shopped here many times before, spent as much time, and was allowed to have a peaceful shopping experience. Otherwise, this place does have a great selection and variety of fabrics, notions, sewing tools, and even pattern paper. read more

I am helping a Couture wedding designer with a very important high profile client and disaster happened when the first top half of the beadwork dress came back super short in the fitting. Thank God this place has everything you can imagine!! We were able to find the fabric closest to the one we had to extend the dress since the wedding is in a week. This was a miracle since the fabric had a ton of bead work and crystals. EEEEKKKK!! The stress?! I have anxiety and I'm not the designer nor the bride!! The customer service here was top notch. Mood has an incredible amount of fabrics but to find what you're looking for is very difficult. There are posts on here with pictures of how the rolls of fabric are stacked making it extremely heavy. If you like a fabric based on the tiny sample sticking out of the roll but it's not on top of the stack, it is almost impossible to pull out the heavy rolls of fabric on top. The employees were not helpful AT ALL. I had one person willing to help me but a supervisor told me she couldn't as she had other work to do! I would ask for a particular fabric and they would tell me to go to a certain aisle down toward the end and on the left, for example. Other reviews have mentioned the bad attitude here and I have to agree. Yes, they have A LOT of fabric but you have easy access to a very small percentage. The female that is at the furthermost cutting table really has an attitude as did that supervisor. I wanted to purchase a lot of fabric to do a number of projects but left with just two pieces after two hours there. I hate going to the fabric district but I think that I will do that in the future. read more

First time ever visiting Mood fabrics. They have a massive selection of everything that you'd need and what you may not able to find from stores like Joann's. Although it maybe a bit much for a hobbyist like me. I have a hobby Etsy shop and I really only need about a 1/4 yard (or less) for every fabric that I wanted to sample. But their policy is 1/2 yard at the minimum. It really limits how many materials that I want to experiment because the cost will be significantly higher and I will end up with many scraps. This is a great resource for those who knows what they want and can utilize from bulk purchases. My first time purchase of a few fabric here that I only needed small samples of costed $66. They did give me a "sample" but it's literally too small to do anything with it. So I will have to continue just making the rounds with Amazon and Joann's until someone comes up with a better idea to suit hobbyists that would only need small quantities of fabric. There is plenty of parking in the lot but of course it was all booked up when I was there. So I ended up doing the meter route outside. read more

Wifey was frantically looking for a very specific shade of silk taffeta that was going to be fashioned into a stole. We drove all the way to Mood Fabrics and were not disappointed. Bolt after bolt with such a variety of shades - wifey found something almost immediately. They also stock very beautiful beaded trim, and we got some. I spent a lot of time browsing specifically for swimsuit fabric that was on sale. When I got my fabric cut, I was told it wasn't on sale even though it was in the sale section. I was told the fabric was there by mistake. I had this confirmed by the lady at the counter. I paid, since the fabric was already cut, but I wish I'd walked away. I feel like a chump. From the moment I walked it, I was greeted hello and was asked how they could help. They called John over and showed him a photo of what I am looking for. They didn't have it but it as it is a super old fabric however, John showed me some other alternatives and I left with four ideas. Kay then helped me pick out some the things needed and she was so friendly and she too gave me some other ideas as well. Kay even handled my checkout and I thanked her so much for all her assistance. I finally built up the courage to pursue my plans to start my own clothing line. My partner recommended Mood because of the cleanliness and huge selection of fabric. I visited several other fabric stores and I must say Mood is the most organized. Unfortunately the costumer service is horrible. As someone that is a novice in the fabric world I felt as though I needed a little more guidance or interest in my project. This is not the place. When you ask questions you get a short answer with no interest in what you're trying to accomplish. I understand as an employee the store may get busy and you can't offer as much advice as you would want to, but on three different occasions the store traffic was slow and I was brushed off and felt like the employees didn't want to be at work. They would walk by you and not ask if you need assistance or even say Hi. It's a weird environment that is not welcoming. Love the store and fabric selection but the costumer service is almost insulting. read more

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the fabric, it's gorgeous. The service can be good, but also a little -how do I put it mildly... not-so-friendly? This is not based on one visit. Came back the next day and was told i can no longer purchase the fabric because a tv show had it on hold. The first lady refused to further investigate if the people are still purchasing. Second guy was more help but still not much got done. Was told they would call me the following day to update me on if it was sold. They never called. This is the place to go to for fabrics. We went to the Los Angeles Fabric, Fashion and Garment Districts. We could NOT find tulle that matched my daughter's bridal gown. The tulle we saw was not as light in weight and it was not as soft as the gown's tulle. Another plus for this store is that they have a parking lot on the side of their building. You don't have to look for street parking, and you don't have to pay for parking. Those places in the Los Angeles Fabric, Fashion and Garment District have $3 parking signs, but in VERY SMALL print it says for the first 10 or 15 minutes. When we entered Mood, we were so... happy to enter an air conditioned store. We were immediately greeted. There was a young gentleman that helped us. We showed him the bridal gown. After he looked at the dress, the very first bolt of tulle that he pulled was an exact match! What a BIG difference in customer service in comparison to other fabric stores! The young gentleman was very helpful, and Shirley tried her best to find the ribbon we needed for the bridal gown. Thank you Shirley! What a WONDERFUL shopping experience! The store has a well organized selection of fabric by type - the majority for fashion /clothing. Not really intended for upholstery - but you might get lucky. Most of it is NOT on roll bars - it's piled High and Wide (so some is very hard to see). Service: The Front Desk is very helpful, however, the wandering floor staff (not readily identified with name tags that I could see) are much less useful. They will tell you what row something is in (if you ask)... but, then it seems up to you to figure it out. If you see something you like up high - grab a step ladder or stool, because they aren't going to get on up and assist... and some bolts are pretty heavy if you want to pull them out a bit to take a closer look. Parking: Great parking lot off the side street and ample street parking. Go there between 10am and 3 pm to avoid Pico traffic etc. Happy Hunting. read more

This place is AMAZING and the employees couldn't possibly be better. I visited Mood in New York a few years back and although they had a wealth of fabulous fabrics, the employees were stereotypically aloof and disinterested so I was expecting similar callous treatment when I walked in the door in the Los Angeles location. I couldn't have been more wrong. This place is my Nirvana, and just opening the door took my breath away. When you visit, prepare to enter a wonderland of fabric with so many kind and knowledgeable employees as your guides. They smiled and greeted me as I entered and didn't hover or pester me at all. When I asked a question about ordering something if I decided to get it after I'd left town- I was visiting from Texas- Marvin told me they'd do their best to match it from the photo I took in store and would even be willing to order it as long as it was still available. He was genuinely interested in what I had to say and went out of his way to make sure I got the amount of fabric I'd asked for and a bit more since the raw edge on the bolt was a bit uneven. I'm in LA almost every year for a convention and next year, I'm planning on a longer stay to take advantage of all the gorgeous fabrics they have on offer. If I could give Marvin and the rest of the amazing staff at Mood LA a million-star rating, it still wouldn't be a high enough to convey how wonderful they are. read more

It has 2 stars for the fabric selection. I'm a student, and there tend to be more unique fabrics with wider widths than what's generally available in downtown or Michael Levine's. Everything is a tad expensive, but worth it if you're looking for that one specific thing you can't find anywhere else. I'm still going to avoid going back. Each time I've gone, staff have completely ignored me or brushed me off when I ask for help. I expect it every time I go. Last time I was there, just asking for help from person to person and waiting added about 15 minutes to my visit, even though they weren't busy. It feels like as a customer, I'm annoying them. I'm in customer service too, but I don't get how these people can be so rude/apathetic. It almost feels purposeful? Every other fabric store in downtown is way more friendly and helpful/quick. read more

This is the Disneyland of fabric. Rows and rows of prints, solids, silks, cotton, jersey..oh me, oh my. I live in the suburbs. The sub-par "fabric" stores in my area carry little to nothing that I find interesting. When I travel into the city to get a better selection, my wallet comes home crying. Mood L.A. is amazing. I could have spent hours just looking around. However, I was not here alone. The boys in the group were only willing to hang out at the auto shop next store, for so long. My daughter found a beautiful floral print jersey, right away. We were promptly helped at the cutting table and asked several times if we needed help. I eventually decided on a cute cotton polka print...only $12 a yard! I can't wait to spin it into a fun little summer dress. Minus 1 star for the lack of a public bathroom...which kept me from even getting into to the button section. If I lived closer, I would probably camp out here. They also have the only rib-knit in town (if you know of another place please lmk). The atmosphere is calming. That said, I really couldn't tell who actually works there. I saw one guy arranging some things on a shelf but when I spoke to him he didn't actually respond with words just a nod. While at the check-out I was able to determine he does work there. The lovely woman who printed my ticket so that I could go to the cashier was delightful and relatively attentive. I didn't entirely understand this part of the process because the rib-knit I was purchasing had a price tag on it. However, I felt like I was a huge inconvenience to everyone else. The cashier did not make eye contact, nor in any way pause the conversation she was having with her co-worker. The pricing is also a little above what I'd expect. They've got the name right tho. I came into mood anxious and frustrated because I'd been having bad luck looking for fabrics (designing a maid of honor evening gown). I looked around the store and just got more lost. Background: I am not a designer in the slightest, so becoming overwhelmed is expected. One of the store employees, Suki, approached us to help and WOW did she help. In a matter of 30 minutes, TA-DA we had a fabric picked and a look finalized! It was all thanks to Suki. She sorted through so many fabrics to find us exactly what we needed.
