My review in reference to this company is certainly not a good one. My vehicle was struck on June 4, 2018 in Columbia, SC. My daughter, granddaughter and one year old Shih tzu puppy was hit head on by a drunk driver. The driver in insured by Mapfre Insurance Company, Well, the drama began on this date. I called the insurance company on June 5th and spoke with Dawn M. to report the accident and gave all pertinent information. Dawn M. was very professional and courtesy and told me that my adjuster was Yvonne G. and would be handling the case from this point on. Called Ms. Yvonne G. on 6/5; and 6/6; several times leaving voice messages each time. Finally, after calling several times on 6/7, I got her. Ms. Yvonne G. was extremely rude and informed me that Robin will be my adjuster from now on. I called to report her rudeness to her supervisor on that very same day. I spoke with Susan W. who was excellent in validating my complaint with the customer service thus far. She said she would personally email and call Yvonne's supervisor-Mr. Dennis R and leave a detailed message. To fast forward, Mr. Scott C. called and it was not until June 21st that we were approved to get a rental. Now, we're the victim of a drunk driver who had insurance with Mapfre and went without transportation for this length of time. This was cruel and unnecessary treatment. Now, to add insult to injury, they are refusing to put quality parts of my 2013 Avalon that was in mint condition with less than 26,000 miles. My vehicle since was hit on 6/4. Not put in shop for repairs until 6/12. They want to put after market parts on my car and is refusing to do otherwise. I spoke with Mr. Scott C. on July 10th after he email my repair manager and said that they "will" only do used or after market parts. Mr. Scott told me during our conversation per phone that all he was obligated to do was to "replace my parts with 5 years old parts" because my car was five years old. How stupid! I quickly told him that the fact of the matter was very simple, I was not a customer of Mapfre and therefore did not enter into an agreement to have after market parts placed on my vehicle in case of an accident. He said that's was his position and he was not not changing it. Well, my position is this, I'm demanding to have my car restored back to where it was before being hit. The nerves of these insurance companies and the way they re-victimize victims over and over again. To this date, July 16, 2018, I'm still being victimized. I need for social media to do your thing and help me tell and retell my case. I am talking for my daughter, granddaughter, puppy and my car. This is unacceptable #MapfreunacceptableandmadasHell. this is the worst insurance ever I got into an accident they refused to pay for the damage I had to return the car to the bank

Car has been in the shop for 2 months waiting for an appraisal. Everyone I speak with give a different response. Some are very helpful, others are down right rude. I don't think it is too much to call and ask the status when the day before the Mapfre rep. asked meto call back and check in. The shop has had no luck either. They contract all appraisal work in northeastern Massachusetts to Rand appraisals who are unresponsive, can't track what car they are supposed to be appraising, and Mapfre rep says they cannot change. Even talked with the president of the Rand Appraisal myself asking to have someone out to do an appraisal. Instead he gave some reason that the car wasn't apart to do an appraisal even though it was and had been for month. The Rand adjuster wrote an initial appraisal with literally no info in it other than pictures and value of $.01 for damage of multi-thousands of dollars. I have only been told by Mapfre I need to wait each time I call over the past month an a half ago. Had another claim awhile back that was reasonably handled in response and only took a little back and forth as they car was a total and they tried to low ball by $3000. read more

In October of 2016 I was rear ended while waiting at a traffic signal. The driver that hit me was texting. My car was not driveable and was my family's only vehicle. I was told I could get a rental and it would be reimbursed through the other driver's insurance, also mapfre. Those first few days we did not know the other party's insurance because we had to wait for the police report. Which is why I had to rent out of pocket. It is now February 2018 and I have contacted both adjustment agents multiple times through phone and email, and also the person who handles rental reimbursement and no one ever contacts me back. I faxxed over the rental agreement and my credit card statement as I was initially instructed to and never received a response. I was told this accident wouldn't cost me a cent, and I am still paying off my credit card for that first week's rental. I have been a customer of Mapfre for close to 15 years. This is the very first time I have needed to handle any situation like this and I am very let down. Their communication and customer service is terrible. Commerce is awful. Do they not have the HIGHEST complaint rate in Mass? Commerce either doesn't train their employees properly or there is a scam going on. We were told damage to my parked vehicle caused by falling ice would be covered. The car was in repair for three weeks. The DAY we pick up the car we found out we would have to pay $500 deductible. That wasn't what we were told initially. They also expect customers to investigate their own accidents. read more

Super shady insurance company, DO NOT USE! I got in one minor accident (under $2000 of damage) that was my fault and my rates increased from $1600 per year to $3006 per year. All I really need to say, use someone else you will thank yourself in the end. read more

I don't know why everyone else is complaining about Commerce Insurance. I have had them for 14 years now. During that time I was involved in two car accidents (one major and one minor, both not my fault) and Commerce was nothing but helpful, professional and courteous to me in each instance. Changed insurance companies after they almost doubled my rates for a minor accident which I made no claim for my car, only a scratch. It was a changing lane thing where the appraiser never even asked my version of the accident. Massachusetts allows them to charge 5% if you change in the middle of the year so they charged about that , actually they tried to charge more until I called them on their calculations. The new company gives me more coverage, less of a deductible, and rental insurance all for a much cheaper rate- Liberty Mutual so it was still worth it. The insurance agent - Underdog- appears to only have Commerce as its client which is kind of deceptive to, but they are directly linked to commerce when you call for customer service. Shop around for rates but beware if you do it in the middle of the year as the state has allowed them to charge you fees. read more

If I could give them Zero stars I would. I have NEVER worked with a company that has such poor customer service as this one. I was in an accident on 12/1. I was rear-ended and this was clearly not my fault. I expected a flawless claim process to get my car fixed....was I wrong. First, there was ZERO communication. I had NO idea what to do, who to call, what was taking so long. I didn't even know what my claim number was. I finally called a collision center on my own, dropped off my car and said 'you deal with them". I finally got the name and number of my "claim adjuster" and proceeded to call him multiple times a day to no avail. I left dozens of messages begging him to at least return my call so I knew what the status was. When I finally reached him he informed me that he had mailed my check 2 weeks prior. I explained that i had not received it and asked that he check again. He came back on the line and informed me that he had mailed it to...get this...my previous address. I told him that we had not lived at that address for OVER 10 YEARS! Clearly their system is antiquated. His response was to laugh. Add this to the fact that I have called this rep at least 15 times and never once has he ever returned a call. If I speak to him it's because I happen to catch him at his desk. Poor, poor, poor customer service. The worst. Run far away from this company. read more

This insurance company has become the lead role in the horror story that my car accident as become. In all the years I have been driving I have not once been in any sort of car accident, but thanks to the entirely irresponsible driving of one of their clients I now have to deal with the mess they have created for me. The agent that was assigned to the claim was for lack of better words incompetent and frankly simpleminded, making the notion that because I am a female I must of been the cause of the accident and not his male client. And as if this couldn't get any better it seems that even after me telling this said agent the events of the accident, him saying it back to me, him recording it for later reference, and sending him the accident report, he took it upon himself to fabricate a whole different story when he wrote up my coverage position letter. I wasn't even able to locate this agent on the agent locator of the insurance's official site when I went looking for an email address and fax number. I wish I could rate this insurance with a negative rating, but I guess one star will have to do. And as for those of you who think Mapfre is a great insurer I advise you to pull the wool from your eyes and take a look at what you really have. Oh I wish I would have read these reviews before I let my agent hook me up with these rip offs!! Had hail damage in October, 2014, no problems with my car however, the hail apparently only fell out of one part of the sky because they are only paying for one side of my roof. Gone back and forth with them and still won't pay. Six houses that I drive by in my neighborhood have had roofs replaced and I'm sure they didn't have to deal with this crap like we have. I have had Commerce for many years without incident. They repaired my vehicle in a timely fashion in several accidents that were not my fault. This winter I was the last car in a chain reaction crash where the car in front of me crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front of him, abruptly stopping. There was no damage to my vehicle nor to the rear of the vehicle I merely tapped. That driver (who was clearly at fault for his own collision) filed a claim against me immediately, I suspect to try to recoup some of his damages. Commerce never inspected my vehicle, I sent a picture as asked. While there was no damage to the other car, Commerce paid the driver for non-existent damage and could not wait to surcharge me for the only claim made against me in many, many years. I went with MAPFRE for my motorcycle because it was the cheapest option in the city but wasn't expecting to have to use it. Well, just as accidents happen, my motorcycle was backed into by a car that was attempting to park next to me. It was a little hard to find a place that could perform motorcycle appraisals but when I did, I got a nice check in the mail for the damage a couple weeks later. There really were only scrapes to a few parts but the check was more than expected to cover the repairs. I'm happy with the fast turnaround and amount I received for my accident! Definitely recommend MAPFRE to anyone on a bike! read more

They just lost another customer, not surprised that their score is only 2 stars! I was with commerce for ever, and was with AAA as long as they have been located at that building in Webster ...I never missed a payment in all those yrs. I started getting returned checks? , then a policy cancellation notice saying it was already cancelled , now I just got a bill for $13.00 ..dafuq?? I was totally confused ? Tried to correct this all today, feeling that a "life time" customer with excellent history and excellent credit means something, unfortunately it doesn't, so after dealing with the one poor attitude I received I was transferred to "Patty" (the condescending one with the smile) AND being told that I'd have to pay a yr in advance and then a fee for a cancelled policy? Clearly there was an error?? I asked with my history there's nothing we can do, her reply .. " well you can go somewhere else" which was really the only helpful response that I received... Recently an elderly (30 Veteran) family member was involved in a "minor accident". (With foot on brake, rolled into a park motorcycle & tipped it over. Visible damage, broken driver's mirror.) Recently he was informed, when receiving his annual ins. policy, (September of 2015) it was doubled of his original coverage of option 1. (He had decreased it to Option 2). Due to this accident 6 months earlier. No police were involved because the owner of the bike assured my family member this was minor. After trying relentlessly to obtain details of the accident to appeal the surcharge received, we were informed that "any documents pertaining to the accident would need to be subpoena by the courts".... "Michelle, Claim Rep. for MAPFRE Ins." It was disclosed also to the Veteran that the claim paid out was in excess of $6,187, this information was obtained by the Merit Board, NOT MAPFRE! The original claim rep sent the Veteran a document reciting, $2900+ for damages & $1400+ for a 50-55 day rental fee. The supplement payment of $1800+ was paid recently as of October 2015.!!! (approx. 7 months later, when the original claim rep. stated this file was closed in July 2015. *In all my years of dealing with corporations/insurance companies I have never came across people like the employees of this insurance company. The "pass the buck" game, the condescending attitudes, the lack of help. This Veteran, with decades of good driving experience has a surcharge because this company agreed to pay a claim (still 7 months AFTER the original accident). Also when their company policy "good driving/forgiveness" policy was recited, the response..."this is an endorsement that is PAID in addition to the policy". This company is a joke!!! Has a great company for decades that got out of personal lines. Broker sent us to this company which was a hideous experience. Just completed paperwork to cancel them and went back to USAA. Never made a claim but most user unfriendly company I have come across ever. Makes the healthcare industry look good. Only positive note was that their pricing was competitive but still saved a couple dollars with fewer exclusions. read more

You will only know the bad things of a company when you are in a crisis .It happened to me, a lot with this company .Please stay away chose Liberty mutual ( My last claim was so smooth, now I realize their wonderful service ). Even for getting a rental car on a accident claim in Mapfre you have to call and request the agent many times (Even if the policy allows 30 days, they will say we can provide rental car only for 15 days). I had a minor accident and filed a claim seven weeks ago. I had a terrible experience with the claim officer and the whole process. I would call and leave a voicemail but never hear back. I had to ask for a supervisor to finally get sent to an independent appriser, which was 30 miles away from Boston. After I got the estimate and reached out to settle, I was told I will receive a check but I never did. I called back and was told it should come in the mail and that there was mix up. I finally got a check but for what I thought was the wrong amount. I called again and was told that they must have sent the other person's estimate since we both had the same insurance company. I waited for two weeks and called back again today and I was told I got half the amount since we were both at fault and that they will only provide 50% of the estimate. I spoke to a so-called supervisor and he pretty much said there is nothing that can be done unless I can provide a surveillance tape. I'm changing insurance company just as soon as I can speak with my agent tomorrow am. Ridiculous read more

I am giving a two star review instead of one because my specific representative was very nice and responded quickly to my questions. I have used them for a long time for car insurance and house insurance. I recently bought a new house and they charged me $1341.00/yr including my discount for having auto as well. When I asked if this included the discount they responded yes. After asking how much it would have been without the discount they said $1700!!!! This is not a mansion, no pool, no nothing. After requesting a refund as I found a company for $1039/yr they told me it will take 2-3 weeks to issue a refund check. I called customer service and the woman said, "We can't refund cards, our technology is really old. If you could not do it 20 years ago, I can't do it." This is not an excuse to your customers, update your "technology." The woman told me she would have a supervisor call and expedite the process, none of this ever happened. Just got my check yesterday, taking approximately 3 weeks. read more

I had an accident this winter, probably not the only one in Boston. I trying to get out of my street (a dead end, I'm at the end) and Had to try to get out before the garbage truck blocked the street. There was a car buried in the 9 1/2 feet of snow across from my driveway, and I hit an ice shelf and wiped out the plastic bumper on my Prius. I asked Mapfre if I would be charged a surcharge and told "not if the repair doesn't go over the $738. It didn't, it was under by $4 and surprise, surprise as soon as the repair was done, the surcharge arrived. I'm due to renew next month, I think I'll find another company. PS. I got $150 deducted from my copay, but now they've changed 4 times that $150, thanks for the "gift"! read more

If I could give a ZERO rating I would. On June 1,2017, my car was T BONED by one of their insured. A clear cut accident!!!! Thank god my 72 year old husband was not injured as they hit his side of the car. The driver of the vehicle that T BONED mine happened to be associated possibly the OWNER of a local TOWING CO here in town. Of course, 4 tow trucks showed up to the scene. Two days after I filed my claim, I was informed by them that the other driver had a WITNESS that approached him at the scene. claiming the accident was my fault. The only people at the scene were TOW truck drivers, to which I informed them of this. The WITNESS could only state what I already knew, that the other driver ran a red light and T BONED my car. They said they would get the witnesses statement and call me back. I called them a week later and they are still waiting to speak to the witness. As of today, June 19, 2017, they have not spoken to the witness, but the person I spoke to told me if I were that hard up for a car to drive to put it thru my insurance Co. I cant say the words here that I told her. She also informed me they had 30 days to make a liability decision. I am a retired Police Officer, but still work for a Police Dept. I plan to pursue any and all avenues, I have available to me to make sure the other Driver and his WITNESS are prosecuted for INSURANCE FRAUD. I have also filed a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner and I will do anything else I can do. My car sits in my garage waiting, which is beyond unreasonable. And To think the other driver has a very profitable collision and towing company here and if he is trying to commit INSURANCE FRAUD on a $3200.00 car accident, I can imagine what kind of INSURANCE FRAUD he is committing at his business. read more

The number I was given was to an agent that apparently doesn't work there any more so frustrating leaving messages on a voice mail and not getting any returned phone calls to finally getting in touch with an agent and her not answering why she has never reached out to us not one time us wanting to know whats going on with our acura truck because when I went to pick it up from the body shop it wasn't driving like the way it did before the accudent something is definitely really wrong with it adjuster was saying it was going to be totaled out Acura is saying something is wrong with transmission from accident and map free is saying its not from the accident and there not covering it! ps I hit someone from behind my whole front end was damaged. my car was driving perfefectly before the accident. Unfortunately my husband and I were hit by one of MAPFRE's 83 year old customers. I was 13 weeks pregnant at the time and had to go to the ER due to the impact of the crash to make sure the baby was okay. We had just gotten our car two months prior to the accident and still owed a lot of money. They did not pay for any of my medical bills, they claim they are not paying for my rental car (which is completely a lie), and only paying off our loan, which does not get us into a new car whatsoever. The "supervisor" yelled and belittled me the entire phone conversation and kept telling me that I need to talk to my husband. He continued to tell me that this has taken completely too long because my husband has not wanted to settle with them and what they are offering. He would not even let me get a word in and told me that I was interrupting him not to even mention the day before where I sat on the phone with his less than polite employee. This was the worst customer service I have ever dealt with and does not even begin to cover the whole story and everything we have been through with this company. Dealing with this company and its heartless, rude, condescending, unprofessional, employees has been one of the most stressful events in my life. I have never in my life been spoken to the way the claim adjuster and her "supervisor" spoke to me. After reading a lot of different reviews about this company it looks like I am not alone. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband's truck was totaled by a Mapfre Insurance policy holder and the experience of trying to get a payout for his totaled vehicle has been absolutely horrendous. The agent and her supervisor that we've been dealing with are the rudest, most unhelpful people I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. The agent has repeatedly lied to us regarding the appraisal details, dollar amounts and rental reimbursement, among other things- she even lied in an email with physical proof! When we finally agreed on a price, the document I received to sign over the car was $800 less than original quote and I was told it was for "storage fees", which we had already agreed that we would be billed to us and paid out of pocket. When we first started having issues, the agent flat out refused to hand the phone over to her supervisor, until we had to hang up, call back and ask for him personally through another representative. The supervisor was just as rude and short with us. It's been over a month and we still haven't been able to conclude this mess, meanwhile we're sharing a car and begging for rides because he can't afford another car until he has reimbursement. This has been and continues to be and absolute nightmare, we're almost to the point of driving the 2 hours to the physical office to deal with it in person. I have never in my life dealt with a company so dead set on ruining their own reputation as this one, as I certainly will never recommend this poor excuse for service to anyone. read more

First thing is.....do not use this company. I took out a 4 year GAP insurance and their tyre damage & alloy wheel repair insurance when I bought a new Audi. Two years on I changed it for another new Audi and I took out 'new' GAP insurance with this company. Guess what? they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee of £35 to cancel the old policy even though I had just taken out a new policy with them! They also want to charge me another £35 cancellation fee to cancel the tyre and alloy wheel repair insurance. After a verbal complaint, they they will only charge me one fee......thanks! great customer service....I do not think. The other issue is that they are totally inflexible on coughing up for replacement tyres if you do not get their authorisation first. I had a damaged tyre, took it to a very repiutible dealer who replaced it and gave me all the necessary reciepts only to find MAPFRE would not reimburse my costs. After my current GAP insurance is done, I am going elsewhere. read more

I would stay away from this company. I purchased an auto policy for 1 year to begin the third week in March of 2017. I paid them 3 weeks in advance. I was then informed by the independent agent that due to my wife's ticket for going through a red light in January of 2017 they were raising the policy 495.00. I am 51 my wife is 42. I spoke with other major companies and the ticket was considered very minor effecting the rate 30-50 dollars no accidents over ten years either. I also do no like the fact the have no glass coverage so you will be paying for your windshield unless you want to give them more money to pay your deductible down to 100.00 so you pay more and then if something happens to your windshield????? you still pay too. The policy was paid with credit card promptly. It was cancelled on the 15th of March. Today is the 29th of March and I have not received a refund yet. Their customer service girls give varying run around stories as to why the money isn't refunded yet. They seem quite disingenuous and dishonest they also strike me, that they will say what is necessary to pacify you. This company gives incredibly low rates. I believe to suck business in. If they cant even give a prompt refund with excuses, how pratell do they handle claims. It seems it kills them to pay back a little money even when the moneys not theirs to keep. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HASSLE FOR THE SAVINGS. Go with reputable companies that pay their bills. read more

MAPFRE is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my life. I made a home owner's claim for water damage from a leaking dishwasher fitting. The initial claim payout was approximately 8% of what a licensed contractor would charge to fix the problem. I negotiated with them and was able to increase the payout to approximately 40% of what a licensed contractor would charge. I was only able to find an unlicensed contractor to perform the job for the amount of money they were paying. When my renewal term came, MAPFRE cancelled me and stated it was because my house didn't have Copper plumbing. The leak that caused the claim had nothing to do with my plumbing but was a defective plastic part on the dishwasher. My home was built in 1956 and no home built in 1956 has copper plumbing. Because of this note in my insurance file, I will have to pay double for my homeowners insurance for the next 3-5 years. read more

pray that you are never in an accident with a mapfre insurance carrier!! my 2008 nissan versa was hit and totaled in the middle of the night while legally parked on the street. the driver fled the scene but was caught that night and it took 3 days to get her insurance information. from day 1 this has been a nightmare. they leave me a voicemail to tell me that my car is totaled, theyre taking full responsibility (duh), that the car is mine and has to be off the tow lot by 6/2 because thats all theyre paying for. i called the tow yard to see what i have to do to have it picked up. they told me all i need is the insurance company to send proof theyre gonna pay the $1100. starting 5/27 i called mapfre every day trying to get proof theyre gonna pay. the first person told me to wait, he was clearly full of crap because he said mapfre is going to pick up the car and to just wait until my adjuster called me. well the adjuster is on vacation until 6/6!! so i called back, every day, begging for them to send proof to the tow company so i can have the car picked up before 6/2. on 5/31 i called for the 10th time they promised to fax the proof, yet never asked for a fax number??? finally on 6/1 i have a pick up time scheduled for 6/2 at 3pm while the insurance has promised to fax the proof over as soon as they opened on 6/2. i called the tow yard at 10am on 6/2 and they never received any fax. during this whole week the tow yard was also calling mapfre talking to the same people trying to get written proof, they are telling both of us that theyll pay but wont put it in writing. i spoke to a man, very unhelpful, who said hes going to type something up now and fax it, seriously??? i go to the tow yard at 3pm and what a surprise NO FAX!! i called mapfre back they said they sent the fax, the tow yards fax machine was working fine, so they "resend it" NOTHING! i called back and spoke to a woman asked if theres any other way to get the proof right now, email maybe, the woman literally raised her voice at me and hung up!! this reduced me to tears. im standing at the tow yard with someone that wants to pick my car up, mapfre says it has to be out tonight, but they wont help! i called again, this woman said she would email me proof. see the picture of the email i got. NO IMAGES! its after 4:30 now mapfre is closed, the tow yard closes in 30 minutes, and the person to pick my car up has left. i had to pay the $1100 out of pocket. now ive spent over $2000 between the rental and the tow for an accident that i was asleep during!! the tow yard owner said he has dealt with this company 3 times and only 1 of them went smoothly and thats because it was just a repair not a total loss. he has a car from mapfre that has been on their lot for over 2 months racking up storage charges. no one from mapfre gives a damn about peoples lives and how theyre being disrupted by this insurance company. read more

AWFUL!!!!! I don't even want to give them one star! Overpriced! Unorganized, lazy, rude,with the exception of a few agents and non of them are on the same page, A few weeks in they lost my paperwork and shut my insurance off due to their mistake! My insurance went up every year without warning, after it was deducted.I would get a letter stating it went up and never why it did, after an accident i was in but not at fault in the middle of a turn a car driving straight came into my lane and nailed my car, the driver was eating spaghetti which was all over my feet after the accident, but of course they decided that is was my fault, they did not help me and my car was done for, It took forever for the adjuster to come out to see the car and when he did the mechanic was concerned for my safety and pleaded with them to total the car they decided not to total it even at the insistence of the mechanic who was fixing it and all from then on as he said there were so many problems,it was a nightmare! I decided to cancel and they hit me with so many fees and charged me for two days until my new insurance started they had also been charging me all that time for direct depositing the money and never told me that! but I was not refunded for the two days in which they canceled me! I never even got an apology! It was hard to get a hold of them when you tried to and when I did it was a waste of time, they were rude or all over the place! I have since found a better company and will never have to deal with them! I read a review about another woman who explained her situation and it sounded exactly like mine! I too was sick to my stomach!!! The whole time I had them for insurance I felt unsafe! I would recommend them as much as i would recommend having teeth pulled with no numbing medication!!! I was told $588 was my yearly policy amount from my auto insurance agent which I paid in full only to be sent 20+ bills from Commerce Insurance (a MAPFRE Company, Webster, MA) with 20 different amounts and fees saying I had not paid the full amount after my agent, Christine at Hub International Insurance ( Norwell, MA (781) 792-3200) said $588 was the full yearly amount. I contacted my agent numerous times and asked her why there were so many different billed amounts listed and how to rectify this. She said they had forgotten to remove the collision and to hang off paying anything until she had it fixed. I never heard back from her so I called her again. This went on for months getting bills with different amounts each month so I cancelled my policy with them. It wasn't until four months later, and after another phone call to my agent, that I got a check back from them for the remainder of my cancelled policy but for less than the full amount I was owed. They also didn't send me a detailed bill explaining what was being deducted. Shouldn't consumers know what they are being billed for? I spoke with Lisa at Commerce (800 922-8276 X 14300) who said 2 late payment fees were deducted from my policy credit along with the amount owed on the full policy amount of $648 - I told her I was told the full amount of the policy was $588 which I paid right away. She said that was incorrect. I said how am I to know that was the incorrect amount when the insurance agent working with her company told me that was the full amount? It seems they are giving their customers the incorrect yearly amounts, so they don't pay the full amount, then get assessed late fees just to garner fees from their customers. If this is happening to me I'm sure this is happening to many people who don't care enough about a small amount of money to write to the BBB. I've sent a complaint to the BBB and hope for a return of my money. It's a small amount but worth fighting for especially if this is happening to others. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our Florida condo was flooded by Morgan Air Conditioning torching a sprinkler head (an entirely separate story) and their insurance company is Mapfre. The flooding, which ruined not only our condo, but the to below us, happened in November, 2015. There has been no attempt by Mapfre's agent, Linda Williamson's to attempt to reach us regarding our claim. When we called her, she attempts to "whittle down" our claim for travel expenses by saying "let me check with my neighbor, she works for Southwest" and pretends she can't find paperwork or that she is out of the office. Unbelievably horrible service. To add insult to injury, Ms. Williamson actually continued to recommend Morgan Air Conditioning to re-install our air conditioning unit even though Morgan Air has had 49 closed complaints on the Better business Bureau website and actually has an alert to contact them before contacting the Better Business Bureau. Mapfre should be doing everything in their power to appease us to avoid not only us writing another complaint on the BB site, but to avoid us from procuring an attorney to settle the claim and/or sue Morgan Air Conditioning. The "service" we have "received" thus far has been just the opposite-no contrition, no apologies, no paying the claim in full. All we hear is "I was going to call you....I was out of the office....I'll get back to you this week..." I'm waiting to hear, "the dog ate my homework...." AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!! read more

In spite of all the negative reviews I've read, I have to say that my experience was quite positive. When I first learned that the driver who struck my vehicle was insured by MAPFRE, I was skeptical because I had never heard of this company...and I've been driving for over 50 years. However, from my first contact with the agent and then the claims handler, I received prompt, courteous and professional service. Once liability was confirmed, the repair process couldn't have been smoother. An adjuster came to my residence to view the damage, wrote out an estimate (that virtually matched an independent estimate I had already secured), and the claims handler had a check sent to the repair facility I had chosen. She also immediately arranged for a comparable rental vehicle, and the rental also had to be extended a couple days due to unexpected delay with the painting process. All in all, I've never had a more pleasant experience with a vehicle repair...and when an insurance company performs like MAPFRE did, I felt obligated to weigh in with an appropriately positive review. read more

These people are horrible. I have a perfect driving record. No tickets, no accidents. I am getting charged very high rates since I have a 19 year-old son who drives. He also has no tickets or accidents. Since I am a widow with 3 kids I sometimes struggle to make payments on time. If they want to charge me a late fee, fine I accept that, but they just sent me a notice of cancelation because my payment is a week late and they basically DOUBLED the amount I have to pay to reinstate. I had made a $350 payment in November, which was slightly late. I received a bill saying that $769 was due on 11/25. Subtracting the $350 I already paid, this would mean that I need to pay $419. I had to pay my mortgage and college tuition, so I did not have the payment by 11/25, but planned to pay it with my next paycheck on 12/9. Today is 12/3 and I just received a notice of cancelation essentially because the payment is a week late. They want $1300 to reinstate. I simply do not have this, and there is no reason to charge me such an exorbitant amount. I have been a policyholder for many years, and while my payments are occasionally late I do always pay them. These are simply disgusting business practices that are designed to make things even more difficult for customers who are struggling. I am going to ask my agent to find me a new policy. read more

Like most others zero stars would be most appropriate. Lazy agents who could not be bothered to return calls / emails. I backed out of my driveway on a dead end street at night and backed into a beat up rusted monster truck owned by a 21 yr old who was at my neighbors house. The boy parked at an angle which was hard to see in the dark and from my Nissan Juke. Also his truck took up most of the road especially as there were huge snow banks February 17 I bumped the truck causing some damage. I took photos the following day and notified commerce. The owner of the truck also uses commerce. And the father took great joy in telling me that he has a " very good friend in insurance " in the ugliest voice possible. The father of the boy was aggressive and belligerent even with the police officer the next day. The father and owner of truck left Sat morning to get an estimate. They gave estimate to me for almost 1500. The also told me I could pay 600 out of pocket for a new bed. What horrified me was the dent was bigger than the the original I sent photos taken before the truck left the scene and afterward when the boy returned. I sent all photos to the claims agent voicing my concerns. He ignored all and did not return any correspondence. Zero. Commerce paid out and simply told me nothing. When I asked how much they could not tell me but did say my ins went up 2 points. Shame on commerce for not following through on fraud shame shame shame. read more

My story begins on 10/12/16 when I was struck from behind at a RED light by a driver insured by Commerce. I myself have progressive and the service is very quick and I'm usually contacted by a rep within 24hrs. Guess I'm spoiled! So I go thru the rest of Wednesday not hearing from this company which is understandable but on Thursday 10/13/16 still no call and I'm not talking about a time and date on when my car will get fixed but just a friendly hello I'll be handling your claim. So silly me I call 9:40am and I get a customer service rep who tells me an adjuster has not been assigned and they have not been able to contact there customer so It might take some time I asked around how long they said we'll call you at noon est. Noon comes and goes so now it's 3 pm est and I call again what's going on with my claim.. now mind you I was struck from behind at a RED light... ou we still haven't assigned fault and customer isn't reachable. So I say well can I please get a rental until you reach her since I need a car because my car steering wheel you have to turn side ways in order for car to drive straight! Ou no unfortunately no because we haven't assigned fault so you can pay for it and we will reimburse you or go thru your insurance . No help so I wait no it's Friday 10/14/16 still no call no rental no contact so I call 9:03am and speak to someone who transfers me to an adjuster who I won't mention by name we will call her R I explain my story and say I'm getting a little frustrated by the lack of help, concern, compassion etc and R presides to state company policy and the time frames they have to respond to and they were clearly within them so to pay out of pocket or go through your own insurance.. just a refresher I was hit by your customer from behind she has not reported the accident yet to and you can't reach her I am without a car and no one has contacted me yet I've been the one calling you.. well she states idk what you want me to tell you but those are your options!! ( great customer service R here's your gold star) not even a fake attempt at I'm sorry for any inconvenience and trouble I'll see what I can do. Smh So 1:52pm after cooling off I reach out to the manger of the customer service in claims R boss and I'll call him D I explained my situation briefly to him not going into detail about my car and claim but explaining the lack of professionalism, empathy, sincerity, and quiet frankly just good customer service skills on his employees part and suggested some sort of re training and explained my wife is in customer service and if she spoke to a customer like that she'd be talked to and or fired. D went on to say something about all his staff are getting trained and then that was it he seemed not to care and also didn't seem surprised at all in fact it felt like I was interrupting his salad or latte. Correct me if I'm wrong I thought the customer was supposed to feel welcomed and appreciated and valued but guess such is not the case at commerce. So I'm writing this so that anyone thinking of buying insurance here or thinking of doing business with this company will think twice about investing time money or energy into them. Next I will write to the CEO and regional manger to let them know what a muck there company has turned into! Commerce Insurance is the worst company to insure with, they have no customer service skills whatsoever. They are slow, rude, mean and nasty, even threatening. They cannot seem to get things right no matter how many times you tell, how hard is it to put the correct phone number in a file. We had to fight tooth and nail for every dime on our totalled vehicle, we were even proactive and gave all necessary info from the get go such as the original sticker off the vehicle you know the one with make model and all the options listed, even then when they called with a settlement number they had the wrong vehicle model. they took over a week to look at the car, then almost another two to settle, they threatened us if we didnt sign off on it we would pay the storage yet couldnt give us a settlement number because they were quoting the wrong vehicle. Hello didnt you go look at it!!!!! Had to get our agent involved after they drove my wife to tears. Found out afterwards my neice also had a horrible experience with them with a totalled vehicle took them almost a month to even look at it, horrifying. Luckily we had kept our other insurance company for our other vehicle and will never ever use commerce again. Commerce was a locally owned and operated by a local family for years, it seems since they sold out theyve only gone down hill. Being rude to your own customers is unacceptable, especially after a traumatic accident. read more

Be warned, their business practices are sleazy. What I thought was just bad customer service I now think is a calculated way to skim money from their customers. I have been a customer for 20 years and have never had an accident so I have never had to call on them and see their true colors. That changed last month when I had a no-fault accident It took them 3 weeks to declare my car "totaled." During this whole time the claim was open, I have never received a phone call from them; at every turn I had to call them to bug them and get the latest update on the claim. When the car was finally declared totaled and I was told the amount of the car's value that Commerce would offer me I tried to negotiate. The adjuster told me that "under no circumstance" he was allowed to negotiate. That he was "required by law" to take median price of the NADA value and KBB value. I just called the Division of Insurance to find out this was a lie, that I could indeed "negotiate." I am still waiting on my check after having sent the title in over a we ek ago. The adjuster told me he would "overnight" it. When I called yesterday he said it still hadn't gone out. Now that they have my title and my car I have absolutely no recourse. Over 20 years of insuring two cars and a house in what amounts to probably close to $100,000 in annual payments to these liers makes my stomach sick. read more

I initially was very happy with the price quotes I had gotten for my auto and home insurance. I switched from Liberty Mutual last year. The costs went down and my coverages went up. I was pleased until I got into a fender bender this year. Commerce/MAPFRE was quick to respond to the accident, send an appraiser, recommend repair facilities and to get my refund check. My rate increased but this was expected. The WORST part of my experience with Commerce/MAPFRE is the Customer Service department. When I call to ask a simple question regarding a claim, I was bounced around so many times on the telephone that I wanted to scream. Each time I called I was bounced from person to person and was on the telephone for much too long. At least with Liberty Mutual, if I had a question, I dialed a telephone number and a live person picked up the telephone and could answer my question. Customer Service at Commerce/MAPFRE is terrible. read more
