Oysters and clam

Very nice food, super fresh ingredients. The service is amazing lead by chef. Benito, the owner. Our waitress take care of us , she explained the menu and every dish. The restaurant is located next to the port terminal, with a very nice bar area. If you are in Ensenada you should visit manzanilla

Different and interesting experience. Hard to find? Sort of. It's just like most hip spots in Mexico, oddly unobtrusive - a gem in a tough neighborhood. Dock yard parking lot, right at the end of the street where military check your credentials before going through the gate (if you hit this spot you've gone to far). Dirt lot, building down a ways opens up to a modern oasis of plants and vines on slat walls. Industrial space with modern art, an old reclaimed bar and international music. The head waiter offered to make a cocktail based on what my husband likes, I told him I work in wine so would like something high in acid, or funky with skin contact etc. he brought me a Chenin Blanc which met those qualifications. We had yellowtail tiridito - fresh but simple maybe a little boring. Sautéed Abalone - hubs says this was the dish of the trip A pasta with pesto, charred veggies and lamb - completely unexpected flavors and quite good. And a huge ribeye with veggies. This was a nice cut of meat - yea it had fat but that's expected with this cut and the fat was caramelized. Then a cheese ice cream with cajeta and pumpkin - also different and delicious. I did have to call over staff a bit but they accommodated. Gave the head waiter a lesson in Madeira which he found interesting. (Maybe we shall see some in future visits). They forgot our to go box with the rest of my ribeye and charged us for the dessert we actually didn't order but I feel that might have been miscommunication and my lack of Good Spanish. Without this I could have bumped to 5

You might get confused getting here since it's inside the port after a guard shack. The restaurant is amazing. Beautiful decor and awesome all wood antique bar. Sometimes you think about one dish for a while. For us it was the sardine taco. Sardine is only any good if it's the freshest thing you can find. That taco defined to me what a lot of Mexico is. They should add it permanently.

I had the 6 course meal, which was okay, but not great. I think at $55USD a person it was a reasonable price not something I'd recommend to others. They're trying to sell themselves as something of "fine-dining" but they have mismatching plates. I took a picture of all 6 courses of the tasting. 0) Complimentary appetizer - Nothing to write home about. A simple crisp with some seafood salad on top. Good, but nothing mind blowing. 1) One of my favorite courses. The ceviche was packed with flavors and had amazing balance of acidity and savoriness. The tiradito (sauced sashimi) was pretty delicious as well. I enjoyed this dish a lot. 2) The oysters were great. I enjoyed the one with gongonzola cheese. 3) The abalone dish was okay. The abalone was cooked well, but the sauce (I believe it was poblanos) was missing something. There was a flatness to this dish and it needed something to wake it up. It's not a dish you'd want to keep eating and eating because it came out very one-dimensional. 4) Octopus taco. Octopus was cooked perfectly. However, this dish was too sour. Covered in red wine vinegar (Mignonette Sauce). Kinda overpowered the dish. 5) Yellowtail Fillet -- Crispy, well cooked. However, this was one of the most disappointing because of the heavy GAS flavor. They must have been using an improper technique of using a torch to sear the fish. Though it was cripsy, I could taste butane throughout the fish. I did not enjoy the gas taste throughout the fish at all. yuck. 6) Cheese Ice cream with sweet potatoes and candied oats. This was pretty good. Decent balance of funk from the cheese and earthiness from the sweet potato. I liked it. I am giving this place 3 stars because I found that there were more misses in the tasting that hits. I think the gas flavor really ruined the main course of the yellowtail. I was between 3 and 4 stars but went for 3 because I wouldn't recommend coming here to others.

This is a great place. The food is awesome. Decorations and service are great as well. Will definitely come again!

Do yourself a favor and get the clams! They are the best I have ever had in my life, hands down! The orecchiette was fabulous as well. I didn't love the open faced ravioli, but it wasn't bad either. Cute decor. We missed our reservation so we missed out on our table, but were able to get seated at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Great wine and liquor list.

Octopus fried taquitos.

Really pretentious without a wow product. The house appetizer is an octopus taquito or a slice of an octopus taquito. It tasted more like a fried potato taco. This was very meh. We ordered the ravioli with spinach and ricotta. We couldn't taste any ricotta in this dish. All we could taste was boiled spinach. Definitely wouldn't order this again. We also ordered the seafood rice listed under 'arroces' on the menu. I ordered it as rice as it was listed only to be corrected by the waiter that it was risotto. Then maybe list it as risotto and I'll order it as risotto and not as rice. This dish was ok. The octopus and fish were good. The dish had a very nice fresh ocean flavor but it was also very salty. The highlight of my dinner was the Madera 5 Chardonnay/Sauvignon white wine. I liked it so much I headed to Cava Madera 5 the next day and picked up two bottles. So, thank you for that Manzanilla. The menu was maybe 6 or 7 pages on a clipboard. I think three pages were food one of which was only listing prices for their tasting menus. The rest of the menu (what felt like the majority of the menu) listed different liquors, beer and mixed drinks. They didn't list their wine options. Maybe it's more of a bar? I don't think we'll be back. There are many restaurants in Ensenada that offer fantastic food that really highlight the products the region has to offer. This restaurant didn't have local flavor. This restaurant seems to be trying more to impress with the name of Benito Molina and not the actual food.

Honestly. The food was bland, no flavor. The only thing that's worth mentioning is the ceviche and even the chips were stale.

Simply amazing. Probably on the best of Ensenada list, but if not, should be! Lovely staff, fish, wine list. It's also well decorated!

He tried getting me to order me guacamole and chips, I asked how much, he said $14 USD, I declined yet he still tried to bring it to my table which I declined a second time. Payment is cash only (USD accepted). That said, the tacos were delicious. The meats were marinated so well and were addicting. The tortillas were handmade and had an excellent texture. Prices might not be the cheapest but it's worth it for a great meal.

It's not hard to find, but unlike so any other options, it's not loud or flashy. We weren't ushered in by some guy on the street promising "the best" of anything. It's small, but clean.. you order at the counter.. my wife and I were the only gringos in there, and we don't speak Spanish. We were quickly presented with a sample plate of all the meats available for their tacos. The wife and I each got a Birria taco and I also got a chicken taco with some of the best Mole sauce I've ever had. They had a table set up in back with all the fixings and salsas you could ask for and the tacos came with beans and rice. We grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler, and the whole meal came to $13 with a tip!!! I mean, that's an unbelievable value for your money. The tacos were incredible. The beans and rice were delicious and the corn tortillas were homemade and some of the best we've ever had. The wife and I often use Yelp! to find places exactly like this, and once again, it did not disappoint. If you're in Ensenada do yourself a favor and skip all the hype spots and go find this place for some amazing food at incredible prices!!
