Love this bakery! Everything is amazing! I especially love their cranberry nut loaf bread, which is about half the price of LA's Urth Cafe's and they taste very similar. I also love their Manresa bakery blend coffee beans. I tried to get some shipped to LA but their delivery provider is Fedex... so it costs $33 to ship two bags. The bread is great. The staff is knowledgeable about what's being produced and sold. And the pastries are to die for. My reason for only four stars, is that I really can't wrap my head around why a bakery from such a strong pedigree of restaurants, doesn't offer butter for sale. Like some small 3.5oz plastic cup of whipped butter with some maldon so people can enjoy your bread right then and there. Honestly. It's a bakery. Last time I went I asked them to just sell me a nub of the unsalted butter in a coffee cup so I could eat some bread and use my pocket knife to spread the butter. And to solve this problem all you need to offer is a "Togo butter" and a plastic knife. I don't think I'm asking for much here. read more

At Manresa it all comes to that ridiculous point of having to fight with people to get a spot to sit. As coffee to go is ok, but not to have a nice sit-down meal experience. Breads are great, coffee is Ok, pastries are not out of this world (maybe I am too spoiled by delicious European patisserie and places where you pay not only to enjoy the fresh baked goodies and hot caffeine but the experience too. I ordered the whole wheat chocolate chip cookie: it is divine! The shape is perfectly round, the cookie is a high (some would say thick), wonderfully balanced cookie. It is not utterly sweet; rather the sugar and flour are blended with just the right amount of chocolate. A perfect side to my morning coffee. Bon appetite! read more

So Manresa cafe had the hype factor but no follow through in my opinion. I actually feel that I am being generous with the 2 stars. Service was a 0 star and food was a 2 star. Clearly I'm rounding up! I ordered three things as we were just having a morning snack. They had a special egg nog cappuccino for the holiday season and I got a cup of that. When it came to the table it wasn't piping hot and it was extremely sweet. OK, so it's egg nog cappuccino and should be sweet, but this was diabetic coma inducing sweet. The coffee came in about 5 minutes. We drank it, waited, drank it, waited, drank it, waited. Watched all the people after us eating their food. Hmmm. Asked the server. Response was "What did you order?" He walked back and put them on a plate and brought them to the table in about 20 seconds. Clearly it was forgotten and clearly their service staff doesn't know that this is a faux pas in service and should have at least said "sorry for the wait" or "sorry for the wait, how about a refill on that coffee". Oh well, service is a strike out. Second up was the Kouign-amann. After all, isn't this what everyone was raving about? It was rock hard and cold. I mean it was completely unappetizing. Taste? Fair at best. Honestly a Starbucks pastry is better. Third to try was the almond croissant. Again, hard and cold. We asked to heat the pastries and the response was "oh, we don't do that, it makes the oven sticky." Seriously? The croissant was nothing special at all. Three things, $15. $5 bucks a piece. Honestly a Philz coffee and an 85 pastry is going to be a far bigger winner in taste, freshness, service, and overall enjoyment. I would not go back, but all of the people like me that saw "Manresa" in the name of this place will surely head over. Good luck with your food. Came here as I was searching out bakeries. Found out about kouign amann in Vegas and wanted to find local ones. Between Manresa and Arsicault and liked Manresa better. A little sweeter. My wife thinks Arsicault was flakier. 5* for the KA. Also tried the pumpernickel bread. Was not what I was expecting. Not the same as others I've had. Dear MB Management, I was excited by its opening because it is walking distance from my office. The staff is super friendly and of course your pastries are first rate. However, you have a ventilation issue. I avoid this location because of the heavy bacon or cooking grease smell in the air. After spending just 2 minutes inside to pick up a croissant, my clothes and hair smell of grease. It is unpleasant and I can't go the office afterwards. Alcohol too! Which means I'm planning to spend a full day there, stuffing myself silly with all sorts of tasty treats. Maybe they'll let me nap on the padded bench in between meals (fingers crossed). MB recently opened along the main street of Downtown Campbell, in the spot formerly occupied by La Panotiq. Don't worry, their feet are big enough to fill those shoes. Bigger even! I've already been twice, including Thanksgiving Day, tho we got there a little late and most pastries were already sold out. These are hot ticket items, folks. The next time I posted up for a few hours, getting work done while sipping on an Oat Milk Latte (they serve Verve Coffee!) and snacking on various pastries (the croissant is always clutch). Decided to try the cafe out since we recently ate at the restaurant. First impressions: Very clean and bright. To the right you have deserts and bread. It appears to be some what community seating on the benches and larger tables. We ordered to go. I got the turkey sandwich and my wife got the salmon sandwich. The sandwich was quite filling. The bread I thought was the highlight of the sandwich of course. Customer service was fine and friendly. I think from a filling of my sandwich it was okay. My turkey sandwich could have used my cranberry sauce. Overall happy with my food but would I rave about it no. But would come back. read more

The day before thanksgiving 2018, Manresa Bread Cafe opens in downtown Campbell giving us something else for which to be thankful. It's before 8 am and it's already a buzz with a line nearly out the door. Bread shelved on the wall is ready to go and pastries are displayed nearby. All your favorites are in their place. In the center is merch and verve coffee to go. The menus are at the end of this, right in front of the door as you walk in. Straight ahead you'll find the main counter, barista station and wine above that. At the register, I ordered a bacon egg and cheese as well as a latte with oat milk. A vegan friend of mine swears by it so I figured this would be the place to try it. Eventually, they'll have service at the tables but today everything was up at either the pastry counter or main counter. The pastries are great, duh. The breakfast sandwich is delicious; caramelized onions were a lovely surprise. In terms of aesthetic, it's bright and modern rustic with a lot of wood which I love. There's one large communal seated high table, a tall thin table facing the window with seats, and 9 tables against the length of the building. I'm torn about this review. I'm always saying that good food is worth good money. But there is a difference between expensive vs over-priced, and Manresa Cafe sadly falls into the latter category. We went during Happy Hour, deliberately so we could try a few things. Ordering did not go smoothly as the staff was seriously under-trained and most of them seemed to know nothing about the menu but we eventually got our food and drinks sorted. We tried 3 small appetizer plates of food, I had a glass of wine and hubby had a beer. The total was $70+. Again, the beer and wine were discounted for Happy Hour, and one of the three food items we ordered was also from the Happy Hour menu. The food was good, but not great. The sourdough spaetzle was tasty, but a little one-note so it got boring. The Parmesan churros were undercooked, literally raw inside. Had they been cooked thoroughly they might have been quite good, as it was I was worried about getting sick. Hubby liked his patty melt, and it was the single decently-priced item on the menu, so it's definitely a bargain. The total bummer was when I decided to add a sweet to our meal, and picked out a monkey bread. The woman at the counter asked if I wanted it warmed and I said yes. I paid and sat back down and within a few seconds she brought it to me, clearly microwaved!! It turned a formerly-delicious pastry into a hard chewy piece of leather. Paying five-star-restaurant prices for counter service, uncomfortable crowded tables, employees who are clueless about the menu items, and undercooked food left us with no desire to return. read more

Worst service ever!! We woke up this morning excited to try a new breakfast place and we were sadly disappointed. This place is definitely not managed efficiently and I am guessing it has to do the level of engagement. If you have a manager that does not take customer service seriously how can you expect the wait staff to? Here are the highlights of our experience. They are not currently serving the whole menu. We ordered the bacon and egg sandwich, breakfast tacos, fruit bowl, and a latte. We waited 40 mins for our food 15 of which the food was sitting on the counter. Multiple staff members walked by the bag and no one called our name. We asked for clarification if our name would be called and two people said yes. The third person confirmed the bag on the counter was ours. Our food was cold. They forgot the latte and as we waited for staff to make one we watched multiple lattes be made for other guests. The manager was condescending and said the latte was not ordered and made no comment to why were waiting so long. I would expect a manager to be helpful. To sum this review up the tacos, fruit bowl, and latte were delicious. The breakfast sandwich was greasy and tasted like liquid smoke. We will not be going back to this place. There are so many other places in Campbell and San Jose to have great service and food. All and all this place is over priced and needs to managed more efficiently. read more

Holding my review as a 3 (down from 3.5). Two weekends ago we stopped by again on our way to the Sunday Farmers' market and ordered the nitro cold brew. BOOM - mind and taste-buds blown! I haven't had such amazing cold brew other than in Portland, ME. I was ecstatic and looking forward to returning. This past weekend we made a stop again en route the Farmers' Market. Seemed like the kitchen was struggling with orders. We also noticed that the nitro cold brew was poured from a can!!!! Sad. And it tasted nothing like the citrus amazement of the previous week. The mediocre * The chocolate croissant was just alright. It would have been better if warmed up. While it was fresh and flaky on the outside, the inside was cold and bready and chocolate hard. Not worth the $5. The bad - The smoke! Ugh! My clothes reeked of smoke for the entire day after having breakfast there. Please fix your air circulation problem. The entire dining experience was ruined despite the nice setting. Bottom line. I would come back and dine in only after the smoke problem is fixed. Everything was priced $1 too high. Having said that, I am ok with the "surcharge" for the downtown location, extra mile by the staff, and the large beautiful seating area. But the smoke ruined a pleasant dining experience. We tried the breakfast sandwich and biscuit sandwich, as well as kouign amann and coffee. All were good but I think service is still figuring out how to operate efficiently. Our hot food came before our coffee and we eventually had to ask for our baked goods from the case that hadn't shown up. Tasteless, overpriced, inefficient, disorganised chaos. These are the words I would use to describe Manresa bread. Why is this place so popular? From the moment you walk in the door you are stuck in a line in front of the busy entrance with people going in and out because of the poor planning and layout of this establishment. It's uncomfortable, awkward, and inefficient waiting in line at this place, and there is ALWAYS a line. They have the ordering desk stationed at the front of the far right side of the store. Instead it would have been better if they had put it back further into the store to anticipate where a line would go. Okay enough about that. The coffee was good, I ordered the monkey bread latte. It was tasty, but that's no surprise as they use Verve espresso. Although, their cups are MUCH smaller and MUCH more expensive than what you get if you just go to Verve in the first place. The biggest mark I have against this place though is their croissants. They appear to have missed a crucial step in the process of making their croissants. Croissants are supposed to be soft, buttery, flaky, and have a symphony of flavour. We ordered a ham & cheese croissant, pain au chocolat, and matcha croissant. The actual croissant part of all three was soft, but it wasn't flaky, or flavourful at all. These croissants are bad. It appears they missed a crucial step on the dough lamination process. These did NOT have the typical croissant flakiness, consistency, or any flavour at all whatsoever. Costco makes better croissants, and for MUCH cheaper than this place. Oh, also they don't readily have napkins available, even if you take your order to go. You have to ask them for them, to which they seem to give you attitude for. Bottom line If I could give a zero I would. I will NEVER go back to Manresa bread because the ambiance is bad, they're over priced, their croissants are terrible, and they have a pretentious stuck up attitude. read more

Not going with the chorus of raves on this one, I stopped by recently for some Monkey Bread and Ice Tea. OK, not the most usual combination. It was nine bucks for that, and it took nearly 10 minutes to get the iced tea. The Monkey Bread was flakey and sticky, it was good but certainly not stellar. The iced tea had excessive tannins and just wasn't tasty or refreshing. Some places are pricey and have long wait times, but it's worth it. This place seems just pricey with a long wait that isn't worth it. I'll give this place another try or two, but my first impressions were not the greatest. read more

I chose the ricotta honey and nduja and I implore people to never order this dish. The nduja and ricotta was not a good combination whatsoever. TL;DR Manresa Bread has excellent macarons! Highly recommend! This review is for the Mother's Day macarons. My pre-order consisted of a box of six macarons with two vanilla, two strawberry, and two passion fruit. I paid online then went to pick them up yesterday. Customer Service: 5/5 I was helped by a young gentleman and lady, both of whom were really nice. Macarons: 4.75/5 The first macaron I tried was the vanilla. I took my first bite and WOW. It was SO GOOD. The strawberry was just as amazing. The passion fruit had a slightly subtle flavor but I also liked it. All three tasted fresh and were full of flavor. I want to contrast these with other macarons available, for example the ones at Costco. Don't get me wrong, the ones at Costco are also good (more like ok) but nothing compares to the fresh ones sold by Manresa Bread! I'm so glad I got to try these! The only tiny criticism I have is that the macarons were artificially colored (the strawberry macaron was this beautiful hot pink which I'm not sure is possible naturally), so I deducted 0.25 points but overall these were outstanding macarons. Parking: Luckily I was able to find a parking spot right away at a lot on S 1st St. It's about a block from Manresa Bread and just a short walk away. Parking is free and is limited to two hours. Additional Info: Currently the inside of Manresa Bread is being used for placing orders and picking up pre-orders. They are following all covid safety protocols. If you love "pain au chocolate" aka a chocolate croissant, and have only had it at a chain coffee shop, you owe it to yourself to try the one from Manresa. So much flakey goodness that can only be attained with butter. Lots and lots of butter. Ask them to warm it and you will realize the thing masquerading as this pastry at the other place is just bread. Anyway, there are lots a delicious goodies here, but for the more sophisticated palette. It's not over the top sweet, but always fresh, bread heavy goodness. The Kouign Amann is a perfect example. The butter and sugar form a delicious crust on the bottom that give it just the right balance of bread to sweet ratio. It sneaks up on you. I haven't been here for other meals, but based on the care put into the pastries, I'll go out on a limb and say it's all great. read more

I really look forward to coming back here when they are not out of everything; understandably so- this was a Sunday following the weekly farmer's market, when Campbell Ave. is packed. Post-yoga trapeze session, our group decided on Manresa as I was in the mood for coffee and brekkie, and my friends wanted libations. Fortunately, this place has both. I was a little disappointed that one of the selling points for me was the oat milk, which they had "just ran out of", then the burrata toast, which they had "just ran out of", and even the brown Sugar in the Raw packets, which they had "just run out of." I chose an almond milk latte and avocado toast. I was surprised by everything on the avocado toast- many of the ingredients that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I liked the herb, I liked the pomegranate, I liked the dried fruit- just maybe not all together. I had this fear that if I got all of the things in one bite, the taste would be less distinct and more like the way things taste after my stomach mixes them all together. But in individual bites, very good. Traditionally, I like an avocado toast with salt and maybe a squirt of lemon juice, so this was definitely a surprise to my taste buds. The latte art was lovely, and I like the way the coffee was prepared. All in all, I look forward to coming back and giving a 5-star review when my order reflects the first choice items I would have selected had they been in stock. read more

I love the bread here! Manresa has a chill vibe and high quality food. I have been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. The cons are that it can be crowded on the weekends and it's pretty pricey. I went here recently for a Saturday brunch with my boy friend. We shared an almond croissant and shakshuka.
