Stumbled across this hot spot on Valencia when having brunch a block down and decided to come in for a cup of coffee. The vibe is amazing- the entry seats are right next to the open design which gets all the sunlight, the inner space has a unique area for reading/boardgames, then the final part is where the open mic is. My sister and I took the train into the city for an event, but first... Coffee. My sister did a search for coffee shops near the area and Manny's came up as the top hit. Wow, what an incredible coffee shop! I was highly impressed by the place. It was located on the corner of 16th and Valencia, and it commanded such a charming presence. I loved the whole vibe of the place. One area was like a cozy lounge, but when you turn the corner you'll find yourself in a library nook. I got an iced nonfant dirty chai latte. Since they had rose syrup, I was like wth let's get crazy so I asked them to to include it. What's funny was that my custom drink must've not been a popular one because two of the servers were curious if I thought it tasted good. I appreciated that they cared, which goes to show how much they cared about customer satisfaction. The drink was what I expected it to be, and I liked that the rose wasn't too overpowering. If I was hungry, I would've totally tried their brunch items. I'm a huge fan of chilaquiles and especially with rojo sauce, which was exactly featured on display. Really amazing venue/cafe on 16st mission. It's my first time at manny's I love the artsy decorations. Especially the pop art style with pop figures all over the walls in the cafe, even the bathroom was very artsy. I came as part of a private event, I mostly stayed at the private room with the stage. The space was very spacious, it can fit up to 6 large picnic tables. I think the private party had around 50-70 people, I could be wrong but the space felt big. There were mics on the stage, lamps on the floor and creative decorations around the room. It seems like its been used for slam poetry, local concerts, comedy show, book reading, anything that requires a stage lol. Service was excellent. Even with the large crowd on a Sunday afternoon, the baristas knew how to manage it and they did it with excellence. They made the drinks very quickly and swiftly while keeping up with multiple orders. I was impressed. WHAT I ORDERED Strawberry sangria ice tea Lavender blueberry ice tea Both are delicious homemade tea blends. It's unsweetened so I added packets of Splenda to make it sweeter. 10/10 highly recommend booking their private room for large events. Excellent service, even the catered food was great. read more

What a find! My favorite part was sitting at the massive window with two comfy couches facing Valencia. For the eats, so many vegetarian options, including a cauliflower hummus bowl, an impossible meat bowl and an eggplant one. The bowls were ample nutritious and delicious, and went well with a side of spicy sauce. The back has a mini library and some comfy benches, a pleasant spot to spend an afternoon at. I came here for a discussion on Colorism and was pleasantly surprised. I had no real expectations and was ultra happy when I saw their business model around activism. It's right up my alley. I came early to get some work done but could not cause it was during the time they were showing episodes of "Sex in the City." I spent so much time laughing I didn't get much work done, but I had a great time. I enjoyed the wine and love how the space is situated. Their spacious community room is amazing. The service was okay, could've been better. However my overall experience was a 5+ so it did not change my feeling about the place. Plant strong, vegetable forward forward that is tasty. Food that makes you feel light & healthy after eating. Manny's is a civic gathering space. Non-profit restaurant cafe. Political bookshop on site. Tilly the bartender was very kind giving me the 411 on the scope of Manny's. Many social events happen here including several Presidential candidates have spoken here. Love the comfortable couches here. Manny's is the event space here while Farming Hope does all the food. The chefs at Farming Hope have worked in Michelin star restaurants. They train former homeless & give second chance to prisoners to train them to cook giving them life skills. Recently attended an event here w/ amazing food & good overall vibe. Many tasty amazing vegetable dishes yet perhaps would like to see a bit more whole grain dishes on the menu perhaps pilafs or something to pair w/ legumes & the veggies. Just a suggestion. Manny's is one of the best restaurants I've ever tried in San Francisco. This restaurant's mission statement and partnership with Farming Hope makes them much more than just your typical eatery. Manny's makes an effort to use locally sourced ingredients, employ those in need of jobs seeking to better themselves, and serve great Mediterranean food! All of this combined results in some amazing food. I had the pleasure of trying various items from their ever changing menu. Here's a few of my favorites! Chickpea Panisse: fried chickpea fritters with muhammara aioli. Incredibly flavorful comfort food that's light and not greasy. Labneh Toast: citrus labneh, mixed citrus, tarragon, candied pistachios, and honey. Sweet and strong citrus flavors that complement one another so well. Pavlova: meringue, whipped yogurt, strawberries, cacao-rose crunch, and basil. A fluffy dessert that's not overly sweet. An abundance of healthy and yummy food that use fresh ingredients along with a beautiful venue, this place is a winner for sure. Ever since the onset of the pandemic, I've been looking for a place to buy a coffee, then sit and do work. Who knew this spacious spot on the corner of 16th and Valencia was swirling in political controversy? Apparently owner Manny Yekutiel has been the subject of weekly protests over allegations of Zionism. Frankly I find the notion of political protest and point-counterpoint arguments rather refreshing because it's a 3,000 square foot venue for left-leaning activism with a full calendar of community events. Or you can just hangout and have lunch like I did in the bar cafe section upfront. There were only four items on their lunch menu and there was a decided Middle Eastern twist to them. I ordered the $11 Cauliflower Salad, which was quite a diverse, colorful plate of harissa-roasted, turmeric-pickled cauliflower florets drizzled with tarragon green goddess dressing and mixed with tomato, cucumber, pickled onions, pepitas, and a lentil quinoa grain blend (photo: http://bit.ly/2Jep58D). The food was absolutely Delicious! Way beyond what I was expecting. So flavorful, so hearty and on top of it all it was healthy! The impossible kofta was so flavorful, the impossible patty was zesty, which complimented the hummus so well - 10/10. This spot is a good place for brunch. I came here with a couple of friends and we squatted a table outside because the inside was packed and didn't have any available seating open. The inside is less of a restaurant vibe and more of a coffee shop with couches and sofas. The menu for brunch was very small, only six items. We ordered a couple of different things: I got the Shasuka, which I thought was delicious. I think the other items on the menu, such as the chicken fajita or the carrot soup, were alright too. Food is decent - service is awful, too cool for customer service crowd- they hate when you interrupt their phone time for an order. Another big issue is that a sex offender lurks on the parklet every weekend morning - harassing women. Look on the sex registry for offenders near Manny's location, look through the list and you will see one of them on that parklet every weekend morning. I have asked him to leave me alone on numerous occasions but he continues to taunt and harrass. Found him on the list shortly after- be careful. read more
