    The Laundry

About a week ago, I went to a wedding reception. I've actually never heard of this venue, but I had the chance to check it out on Friday, January 19th around 6:15pm. I believe the front bar area more or less remains the same. They were offering beer and wine at $8 a pop. Not sure if the beer is worth it, but the glasses of wine were very generous pours. After that initial area, I think you can do anything you want with the space. They turned the room past into the main dining area with a long dinner table, dessert table, and the dj. There was a small room to the left that they turned into a coat check. And a loft style second level where they did the toasts and made announcements. Past that, there's one more room in the back which they turned into the kid area and buffet. The only thing lacking is restrooms. I believe there are only two, so there was a lot of waiting if you wanted to use the bathroom. And believe me, with all the drinking, I needed to go. A lot! There seems to be a downstairs, but it was roped off, so we didn't have access to it. Very cool space. The front area has a cafe type feel, but the rest can be transformed into anything you want. I especially liked the loft type area. Seemed very cute and cozy. Depending on your vision, I think The Laundry could be a good venue. I definitely had a great time for the 4+ hours we were here. Great for a small informal wedding reception.

Awesome versatile venue in a beautiful industrial space; a real neighborhood gem! It's hard to describe The Laundry in a few words, given how eclectic it is -- great craft coffee at the pop-up cafe in the morning, super fast Internet in the coworking space to get work done, and an excellent cultural events program in the evenings, ranging from live music (check out the Airbnb-sponsored events) and stand-up comedy, to art shows and social justice events such as the recent "I Am An Immigrant" campaign. One of my favorite spots in SF (if only the coffee shop were open on weekends, it would be perfect).

I rented the space for a 40-50 person brunch party.

I rented this space during the day on the weekend to host a private brunch party for about 40-50 people. It was a wonderful experience for all my guests and we really enjoyed the layout of space. We rented the upstairs main room and there was also a fabulous art show in the back gallery area we got to enjoy. The tea lounge landing and sofa seating area were great for inspiring conversations. I really like how all the tables had sturdy reclaimed wood tops on wheels. It made it easy for us to move the tables around and we changed the space into a dance floor towards the end of the event. The skylights made the space light filled throughout the day and the eclectic industrial interior design made the event a successful experience. Cynthia the manager was great to work with too! She offered clear communication and was easy to work with. I would highly recommend holding events here for your workshops, parties, or dining events! I became aware of The Laundry at one of their art show openings. Once I saw the space I had to become a member. So I also use this space to hang out in, read, and work on my passion during the weekday. Again I love the light filled main room and the vibe is great between all the other members sharing the space. I also love all the classes they offer to members which are mostly free, like yoga. Every week they hold workshops or a class which are fee based that are great for helping you to develop your business concepts and inspire your visions into reality. The co-founders are great too. I'm happy to support people with a vision that builds community, inspires art and cultivates innovative ideas. Check out their event page to stay updated and come support this wonderful space in the mission.

After I messaged Maria, she was quick to confirm that our date was available. (We booked 3 months in advance.) The booking and payment/deposit process was also straight forward. Really appreciate the easy process. As for the space, it can fit up to 50 people for a luncheon comfortably. One restroom; back room for extra tables and that's where our caterer stayed during our event. (Which btw I booked after seeing them featured on A Venue's Instagram post.) Maria and team had setup the tables, chairs, table covers and the balloon backdrop (extra charge) for us. The place was also so clean when we arrived! The building was a printing press back in the day, so it's a bit of a maze but that's part of the charm. I've discovered some amazing local businesses. I recently went to their February artisan food fairs, and bought some delicious food products. They had a variety of food vendors: hot sauces, honey, dips, cookies, teas, and more. As for the craft fairs, respect jewelry, candles, cutting boards, and even a few food vendors. That's where I discovered Apisol, a woman-owned company based in the Peninsula that makes delicious sparkling honey beverages. Don't miss the vintage store on the first floor, which has really unique vintage products like postcards, buttons, posters, and more. There are so many fairs in the city, but the vendors here are ones that I haven't seen anywhere else. So check out their insta or their website for dates to their upcoming fairs.

I never heard of this place until a fellow Yelper brought this up to me and I said SFBox? I never heard or been in this location before and I am sure most of you never heard of this place either unless you search for history of the William Randolph Hearst printing press building so many years ago. The building was built in 1926 as a printing plant for the San Francisco Examiner. It is a nice mixed use building like a nice cozy maze to explore the nice layout and architecture of the old print shop. So upstairs about 2 floors and vendors are scattered so it's like a hunt for them, almost like a needle in haystack. Lol Well it's not that hard as you won't miss anyone. Too floor that where you will satisfy your sweet tooth . Yummy. The vendors that were there were a nice mix from tea, cheese, spices, India coffee , Turkish spreads, ice cream, giant cookies, healthy drinks, spreads, and I am sure you will find something you will enjoy. I don't normally buy stuff, but the honey , red beet, 2004 sweet land Bingdao $95 brick tea that is aged 21 years that can make 175 tea servings for $95, Il Fiorello basalmic vinegar was thick and smooth great texture and syrupy taste very captivating and Taste of Levant tahini and their chocolate jar of molasses was excellent and I had to buy them. Yummy in my tummy! Not sure if same vendors will be there again, so catch them the at your farmers market, festivals or next Eats event!

I worked an event here for a wedding reception a couple of months ago and was in love with the Great Gatsby-themed party. It was both elegant and vintage, with an awesome upstairs area with tiny rabbit-hole bedrooms and a living space with enough room for a photo booth, couches, card tables and a library of vinyl records (you can bet it got me there). And besides it being an amazing space, the workers are what set it apart. Although the hired talent (from DJ to food vendors to wedding planners, etc.) added to the overall feeling of being a GREAT party, the staff is always very friendly, approachable and accommodating. Easy to talk to, easy to find, and they give you enough space to enjoy your night. This venue is fully equipped with a full, open kitchen area (which is beautiful too, by the way) and artsy wall decor all over their bathrooms (but still so damn clean). This venue alone is a gem that is very unique to the Bay... And it almost feels like you're in on an exclusive spot. Come be a cool kid and come to Chez Poulet!

From 24th Street Mission BART Station, head south on Mission and hang a left at Cesar Chavez. While on the south side of the street, keep your eyes peeled for a large red door, part way between Mission & Van Ness Streets. Walking in, you'll see DJ's in the Radio Valencia booth, busily broadcasting. http://radiovalencia.fm/about/ You'll also encounter a small coat rack, a few parked bikes, and a person checking guests in. He asked about food restrictions ~ I think this is geared for folks who pre-arranged. Since I was a last minute stand in and hadn't indicated beforehand, he suggested that I skip the meat (I've been trying to be more vegetarian these days, although the last few have been the contrary). $10 or $20 bottles of red offered at check in ~ we were lucky to purchase the last bottle. I recommend getting there on the early side if you'd like to indulge in wine. Walking into the main dining area, I came across easy on the eyes ambiance ~ long communal tables, dark, candle glow, high loft ceiling, low stage, brick wall, small disco ball. Attire ranged from date-night dressy to casual. Our pre-fixe dinner included (description from the site): Course 1: Potato and leek soup with bacon lardons & crostini Course 2: Mango salad with mixed organic greens & a vinaigrette Course 3: Seared polenta with ricotta cheese (homemade), chives & apricot jam Course 4: 'Roast beast: cooked slow and low... apple cider braised pork shoulder with apple/cabbage slaw dressed with cider vinegar' Course 5: chocolate cupcake with 'goth' motif in honor of David J. I'm all for (plastic) spider rings, cockroaches and centipedes. Three bands performed between courses moving the evening along. David J (of Bauhaus fame) was the 'headliner', taking me back to the '80's with 'St. James Infirmary'. Highlights of CP included Courses 4 & 5, the 50-seat communal atmosphere and live entertainment. John, the MC, did a great job keeping the evening upbeat and flowing. Chez Poulet hosts special events. My online search yielded a few crumbs as to how to keep a pulse on CP happenings. If you want to partake, my recommendation is to set up a Google Alert, or check on BrownPaperTickets.com. The friend that invited me was there because her friend invited her. This friend couldn't make it , hence I came upon Chez Poulet on this dark and stormy night. Woo hoo!
