I honestly just walked in because I noticed the coffee spot at the entrance and ended up staying way longer than planned. The coffee was really good, but what surprised me more was the space itself. There are multiple floors with lots of comfortable seating and tables, plus rooms set up for meetings, events, or just for getting work done. It actually feels easy to sit and focus here. The rooms had whiteboards if you need them, WiFi, and everything feels thoughtfully laid out. The owner of the cafe area, The Fold Cafe, was super nice and genuinely easy to talk to, which made the whole experience feel even better. Prices were very fair too with alot of choices. I also appreciated that there are bathrooms on every floor. Overall, this is a really unique spot that doesn't feel forced or corporate. Definitely a place I would come back to, whether for coffee or to get some work done. read more

About a week ago, I went to a wedding reception. I've actually never heard of this venue, but I had the chance to check it out on Friday, January 19th around 6:15pm. I believe the front bar area more or less remains the same. They were offering beer and wine at $8 a pop. Not sure if the beer is worth it, but the glasses of wine were very generous pours. After that initial area, I think you can do anything you want with the space. They turned the room past into the main dining area with a long dinner table, dessert table, and the dj. There was a small room to the left that they turned into a coat check. And a loft style second level where they did the toasts and made announcements. Past that, there's one more room in the back which they turned into the kid area and buffet. The only thing lacking is restrooms. I believe there are only two, so there was a lot of waiting if you wanted to use the bathroom. And believe me, with all the drinking, I needed to go. A lot! There seems to be a downstairs, but it was roped off, so we didn't have access to it. Very cool space. The front area has a cafe type feel, but the rest can be transformed into anything you want. I especially liked the loft type area. Seemed very cute and cozy. Depending on your vision, I think The Laundry could be a good venue. I definitely had a great time for the 4+ hours we were here. I won't lie...I was generally apprehensive when I heard that our school dance was going to be held offsite. Not that I'd heard anything specific about The Laundry...again, my apprehensions were general. Would they let us serve food? Yes! Oh, great! That surprised me...I expected talk of liability and such. Would they side-eye us because we're a high school? AKA, teenagers everywhere? Not at all! We were warmly greeted. Would we get good service despite lack of tech money? Yes! Staff was present and engaged and available whenever we needed them. Would they nitpick our situation and tell us NO at every turn? No! They were creative in helping us set up and hung around until we were ready to roll. I feel like they genuinely enjoyed having us there. Would they give us the bum's rush at the end of the night? Not at all! In fact, our own people did that LOL. Teachers, man...can't imagine why they might be sick of being around teenagers for 15 hours straight? P.S. I was set up downstairs and had no trouble with cell service so it seems that improvements have possibly been made judging from older reviews. read more

It was an absolute joy to eat at this truly fantastic restaurant. To begin, as you come in, it becomes clear that you are with people who pay attention to every little detail, and yet, you feel comfortable, and relaxed. I am not a food critic, so I can't do justice to how delicious the food was. I can tell you that my husband is -mostly- vegan, so I got myself a fish dish, him the vegan special, and my kids a chicken dish. I thought I would like mine the most, but a quick steal of my husband's dish, I considered becoming vegan!! The service perfectly matches the food: top notch. Absolutely top notch. I visited this place to go see "The Premise," an underground (literally!) comedy show. The ground floor venue was closed for the evening, but the event took place in its basement. Drinks were available for purchase, and the comedy show was free of charge. You could reserve tickets online, but it was perfectly acceptable to just walk in without tickets. The night I went, the comedians were hilarious and I had a great time!! I would say it's one of the best free comedy shows I have ever seen! Really spectacular comedians!! If you want to comfortably sit down, you should arrive early since it fills up quickly and seats are limited. There are a few areas where you could stand and watch, but this venue is not for the claustrophobic. I would love to go again if I'm ever in the area! read more

I come here several times a week for their pop-up shop, which serves 3-19 Coffee. 3-19 does single-origin beans, so when you get a cup it's like, "This guy, on these 10 acres, near this town in Guatemala, grew these beans." As somebody who grew up drinking Folger's and thumbing his nose at bougie, expensive beans... I get it now. Plus, everyone is super nice! This place hosts a variety of cultural events from music, spoken words, visual art, talks on a variety of subjects. I'm glad SF has a place like this. I live a few blocks away and frequently pass by the Laundry. From the outside, I assumed it was a cafe that allowed for hanging out and drinking coffee, and from the website I gathered that they host the occasional art event. Today I had some time to kill so I decided to try it out. I walked into the "pop-up" cafe expecting a place to drink coffee, sit and get some work done, and maybe look at some art. When I walked in, the person taking orders was busy looking at his phone and didn't acknowledge me. After a moment the person in the barista position asked me what I wanted and took my order. Looking past the cafe bar I saw a room full of people sitting at a big desk behind glass doors. I asked if that was cafe seating and was informed that it was being used for a "corporate event". Ewww. So, I took my drink (Gibraltar with slightly over-extracted espresso) to a small corner chair and signed into the guest wifi as directed. The wifi was very slow and kept dropping out. Reading other reviews on Yelp it appears that there is a very fast connection available... if you reserve the workspace in the back. I'm sad. What I had hoped was a cafe and community art space has turned out to be just another tech/corporate shared workspace. Another nail in the coffin of the Mission. read more

Awesome versatile venue in a beautiful industrial space; a real neighborhood gem! It's hard to describe The Laundry in a few words, given how eclectic it is -- great craft coffee at the pop-up cafe in the morning, super fast Internet in the coworking space to get work done, and an excellent cultural events program in the evenings, ranging from live music (check out the Airbnb-sponsored events) and stand-up comedy, to art shows and social justice events such as the recent "I Am An Immigrant" campaign. One of my favorite spots in SF (if only the coffee shop were open on weekends, it would be perfect). read more

This ENTIRE space is so beautiful. From the moment you walk into the coffee shop, to browsing around the different rooms they provide, they have a room for any need, and for a great price. Today I needed a room to shoot a college football interview, but I would also keep the building in mind for meetings, parties etc. I would recommend this to friends. The Laundry is so versatile and the workers are so so nice! Katie was there for any questions we had. We will definitely be shooting another production here. I rented this space during the day on the weekend to host a private brunch party for about 40-50 people. It was a wonderful experience for all my guests and we really enjoyed the layout of space. We rented the upstairs main room and there was also a fabulous art show in the back gallery area we got to enjoy. The tea lounge landing and sofa seating area were great for inspiring conversations. I really like how all the tables had sturdy reclaimed wood tops on wheels. It made it easy for us to move the tables around and we changed the space into a dance floor towards the end of the event. The skylights made the space light filled throughout the day and the eclectic industrial interior design made the event a successful experience. Cynthia the manager was great to work with too! She offered clear communication and was easy to work with. I would highly recommend holding events here for your workshops, parties, or dining events! I became aware of The Laundry at one of their art show openings. Once I saw the space I had to become a member. So I also use this space to hang out in, read, and work on my passion during the weekday. Again I love the light filled main room and the vibe is great between all the other members sharing the space. I also love all the classes they offer to members which are mostly free, like yoga. Every week they hold workshops or a class which are fee based that are great for helping you to develop your business concepts and inspire your visions into reality. The co-founders are great too. I'm happy to support people with a vision that builds community, inspires art and cultivates innovative ideas. I showed up in the cafe to work on a Wednesday late morning. The cafe is run by a roaster named Mike - who serves coffee that he roasts, 3-19 Coffee, and a variety of eats. It'a very friendly environment, nicely designed and with good wifi. As for a place to get a little writing done, it was easy to focus and work for an hour. I also appreciate not being judged as I walked through the door, but met with smiles and greetings instead. I have been living and/or working in SF for 30 years. From day 1 when I arrived in SF, I often noticed that when you enter a cafe in SF, the staff seems to be assessing whether you are "in" or "out". Not here. Thank you. I ordered two macchiatos. The coffee was great. I appreciate and respect the effort that it took Mike and associates to get their business to this point and the immense quality of the coffee. read more

Love this place! The events are really creative and the space is very cool. The first few times I was there I was only in the front coffee house (which has awesome coffee and wine) but later attended events in the rest of the building, which has incredible artwork and is way bigger than the storefront lets on.
