I just finally got to a place in life where I am healthy enough (and have enough time), to look back and relive through some of the more interesting moments of my life....and living/working at 1000 Howard Street for 6 years was definitely one of them. (I went to update my linkedin profile and saw someone updating the business of 1AMSF, and had to IMMEDIATELY STOP EVERYTHING, and drop a few truth bombs to dilute the way too much 1AMBS).
To have had a major hand in bringing that building back to what I would call a "suitable" living environment (from being a slum), only for some spoiled kid acting like an adult, (who never had any mentioned desire to do anything with graffiti) running this circus AND NOT taking care of the tenants in same same building his family owns, is what has brought me to write this review. There was a chance to have actually created something in that space which would better serve the direct community, but not only did that NOT HAPPEN, but in the apartment building above, no replacement manager has lived on site for months, possibly years, and apparently the 1AMSF business owner, nor the property management company he hired (The Jackson Group) seem to give a damn.
For all the social outraging some people seem to do, I find it mind-blowingly ironic, that those same would be "WOKE" people support this business. It is the epitome of circumstantial struggle versus class privilege that I thought most of the people whom frequent this "business" would quickly stand against. Some well to do tech businesses lace the pockets of a never been street kid nor graffiti artist's business, in a urban neighborhood, where none of them live (or possibly one now being gentrification is still taking over), above a building owned by the same family as the 1AMSF business owner, where there is no manager and disgruntled tenants. And if you think the other reviewers on yelp have a reason to complain about the fumes of spray paint from their nearby businesses, how do you think the tenants in the same building feel? As someone who lived their, I can tell you it sucked, and was totally unfair...possibly illegal (by OSHA standards). I still feel bad remembering the visuals of seniors and a pregnant woman coughing as they tried to make their ways down the halls, unable to pass faster than desired due to life circumstances...but who has time to care about life circumstances when it's time to TEAM BUILD!
I know sometimes it might not be the most convenient thing to constantly observe the world that's truly revolving around you, but as one of my favorite fighter's always says, whether win or lose, it is what it is.
Time to keep it real 1AMSF....no more 1AMBS. And to patrons of this business....REALLY?! AND WEAR A MASK!!! #alllungsmatter read more
