If you're non-asian don't even bother inquiring, you will only receive odd stares.

I had a wonderful experience with my first formal painting training at Jean Henry School of Art…read more First of all, Mike Ritch is everything I could possibly have asked for in a teacher. He is a talented artist, is excellent at conveying his ideas to all the students who ask for it, and was always able to encourage me with letting me know what I needed to do in order to achieve the best results I could possibly have. As a new student, I was not always aware of what supplies I needed to have with me. Inevitably, I forgot something that I needed in order to accomplish my work for each class. Mike was not only patient with me, but was generous to let me use what he had on hand in the studio. The ambiance is excellent. There were usually anywhere from two to four other students working at the same time. For the most part, it was a quiet environment, with everyone working on their own canvases. But there was also friendly and supportive banter occasionally. It was encouraging for me to hear kind comments from the other students, all of whom are adults.

Infinitely patient, he makes everyone feel welcome and works with students to hone their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. Without a doubt, Mike has helped me become a better painter and artist. Classes are three hours long and there are sessions throughout the week. Sometimes the whole class works on a specific theme, like a still life or in black and white, but often students work on whatever project they want. Each class generally has a critique where students can show their art and get both positive and negative feedback. If you've thought about getting into art, expressing your creative side, or just de-stress from a sit-at-your-desk-and-stare-at-a-computer job, check this place out!

I was offered usage of the materials, drafting table, and her wealth of knowledge to help me learn the skills I wanted to learn (which is finite at this time). Connie and I had a conversation about what I wanted to accomplish and she offered me advice and guidance on the best way to go about it. Within an hour, I feel confident that I can make my desired repairs and build upon that knowledge. Connie let me know that should I wish to join a class or expand my skills, that was possible. The studio is small but very well lit (I accentuate that for the visual aspect to sewing). Folks sit close to each other, but it feels communal and pleasant.

Many classes here at the sewing studio are geared towards kids (seven and up) who are able to complete 5-6 projects in a week. This is extremely ambitious for a beginning sewing class that lasts a few hours a session. My student says the class is fun and she felt well supported by the instructor and her assistant. Projects do get completed alongside good supervision and instruction. The studio is unmarked beyond a simple black awning that reads aptly, "Sew."

The self-proclaimed "one-stop" student services center is anything but. After 6 months of repeated…read morevisits, I was finally able to obtain a school id card. Why? Because the id card desk opens when it pleases, and sometimes even closes during stated open times. Issues with enrollment status that impeded the receival of my stipend check also required repeated visits until I finally found a competent staff member to sort out the administrative issues. When the parking garage machines stopped accepting change, and only accepted exact dollar amounts, several repeated visits were AGAIN required before I could obtain a parking debit card for those fussy machines. These inconveniences are completely unacceptable for a school catering to commuter students with limited times on campus. The one saving grace is the kindness and positive attitudes of the students who work here. Otherwise, this service center gets a big F.

He went above and beyond from beginning to end. On the last session, he helped my daughter practice the actual test route and made sure she was prepared for all the requirements of the driving test. He also gave us helpful advice about how early to arrive for the appointment and what to expect in terms of the wait time. Thanks to Lawrence's guidance and preparation, my daughter passed her driving test on her first try! We are so grateful for his patience, knowledge, and support. I would definitely recommend Lawrence to any parent looking for a great driving instructor.

Thank you so much, you helped give her the confidence she'd been needing. I'm referring anyone needing driving lessons here. Do it. You won't regret it.
