You NEED to check out the bathroom at this place. There's a beautiful old bathtub that serves as a home for goldfish. It's amazing. I went here to see a show that featured one of my favorite artists, Ursula Xanthe Young. The exhibition is different artists take on the Trump presidency. Quality pieces for this specific show. The place is right next to a different art museum and it looks rather small from the outside but it actually goes back really far and is a big space. There's a beautiful back room and a small back porch and a very small backyard. It's a great gallery and they have a parklet out front where there's rotating exhibitions/theme which is cool. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. read more

One of my favorite galleries in the Bay Area!!! Their curation is so on point. I appreciate it so much. You know no matter what artist they're featuring it'll be interesting. Plus the layout and interior decoration is phenomenal. The bath room has a bathtub with goldfish in it and a gorgeous mobile hanging. The parklet outside is painted and decorated in a similar style too. The owners are so chill and kind also. I love talking to them about art. This place is a gem. read more

Really cool t-shirts that you aren't going to find elsewhere and interesting art. It's a small space, but one of those "must-go" spots for those that want to get under the covers of SF. read more

Fabric 8 is a small store that features t-shirts and unique artwork from independent bay area designers. The company started as an online service back in 1995, but a few years ago opened its first retail store. Tonight, was the opening celebration of the new art gallery section. Both Creme Brulee guy and Amuse Bouche guy were encouraging attendance via tweets. I have sampled the food from both before, but I thought that it might be a worthwhile art event to attend. So I decided to drop by after my photography club meeting. As expected the place was packed, but I did enjoy my visit. The designs of the artwork on display show amazing creativity, they are eclectic, colorful and unique (see pics). You'll find both cute monsters and aesthetically pleasing designs, truly one of a kind stuff. Prices for the art are around $100-150. T-shirt prices are between $20-40 depending on the design. Some of you foodies might be familiar with the artwork from a few of the featured artists. For example, I could easily recognize the work of Sirron Norris, because similar murals can be found at Jay's Cheesesteak on Divisadero. http://www.sirronnorris.com/murals/san-francisco-murals/ Hours: Weekends 11am-7pm Evenings 5-7pm Also available by appointment, or whenever the sign says open. read more

Luna Rienne Gallery - Art Galleries Near Me - San Francisco, California

I bought a shirt that has a flying Muni bus with angel wings and the words "MUNI, TAKE ME AWAY!" emblazoned on the front. It cost me $25 and I've never forked over my credit card so quickly in my life. I'm a Fabric8 convert. Although the shirts are T-I-N-Y. Where are the Macy's Woman sizes? I bought an extra-large, and my ego was NOT PLEASED AT ALL. What is it with you skinny-ass hip people?! It's like you're either a dude who's really into wearing nipple shirts, or anorexic and a size 18 months. read more

Fabric 8 is that kind of hip and bright artsy store/gallery that you wish was instead your living room. Their floor is made of fake grass and even if the space is on the tiny side, the original display of their affordable art pieces by local artists on the rise makes the atmosphere inviting and cheerful. Oh, BY THE WAY, my B-DAY is coming up and if you wonder what to do with your stimulus check, here's what you could get me: This cute and joyful piece by Sirron Norris: http://www.fabric8.com/gallery/?PID=SN This sexy and feminine paint by Ursula Young: http://www.fabric8.com/gallery/?PID=FD This hip and vibrant art by Brian Barneclo: http://www.fabric8.com/gallery/?PID=BB0129 Thanks! :-) We'll be BFF! I bought a present for her here once. It was a light switch, painted with a little girl holding a scroll with hebrew lettering. She smiled when I gave it to her, and kissed me, holding my face. Now I stand here alone, fake green grass under my feet. I am staring at a painting by Alice Korsawa. The painting stares right back at me. Tribe Called Quest is playing. The music makes me smile, despite my best efforts. And then I am out back on the balcony, staring at the sky. Gray clouds race from west to east. I wonder when it will rain again. I take a sip of white wine. A womanin a white sun dress walks by me. There is a purple flower embroidered on the left breast of the woman's white sun dress. For a moment, I think I might know her. read more

Okay, so it's true Olivia was one of the first people I met when I moved to the Bay Area. What? 11 years ago? She knew my husband "back in the day." New York circa 1995 - Twilo, Tunnel. _Way_ before I became a raver. True to her old-school vibe, Olivia's brainchild is a showcase of underground SF artists and designers. Ursula Young, Sirron Norris - it's really hard for me to go into this place and not start obsessing over a new piece of art. I'm holding out for a custom piece from the guy who does the tiny 3-D house paintings. Olivia - hook me up, girl!!! read more

It's really too bad I don't have expendable income for the cool stuff they have here. The staff are really nice too. We stumbled upon this place on Valentine's Day and they gave us free chocolates for coming in. This is an awesome find right near those really amazing houses on Guerrero Street. If you have the money to support it, you really should. It's still fun to browse here. read more

How did I not write a review of this place earlier? Any place with an astro-turf floor and neat art work wins points in my heart. They also have cool t-shirts you won't find anywhere else. Definitely a cool place to stop on your way through through the area. It's not on the main drag so you have to talk a little bit west of Valencia (toward nice nice noe valley). read more

I had to find myself some xmas presents and snuck out of the christmas party to swing by here to get some good gear. after surfing their website (argh. too confusing for me, but it did entice me to come in), i was pleased to find a cute little shop! Great products, unique t's and bags, and wallets, oh my. The paintings for sale were saweet. Say it, children, saaaaaaweeeet. thanks to the staff who was there, my bad for not asking your name, but you're really nice! and got to meet ms. similak child (http://www.true-skool.org/artists.php?contid=00198) I thought ya knew! I just caught wind of this store after reading a review; I had no idea they had an online store for years prior to opening up a physical one in the Mission. Local work by artists are featured here. They sell Upper Playground shirts, and the other shirts they sell are similar to UP in terms of graphics. (And as a Filipino, I enjoyed the few selections of Filipino-inspired tees.) The CD collection is excellent, also. I picked up a couple CDs here I couldn't get at Future Primitive Sound. The staff is great; Olivia's extremely chill to talk to. So, great staff, great service, great products = 5 stars in my book! read more

great selection of tees for him & her. Olivia, the owner, is a sweetheart! she knows a lot about the designers/artists her store carries, and can give feedback on literally everything she is showcasing, for the lack of a better word. fabric8 has styles for everyone's taste. they have a huge online business, and if you call ahead of time, you can actually pick up some really awesome tees for sick prices. if you love one of a kind editions, this is the place you need to hit. the artificial grass is cool, but the coolest is the register they use, which is literally a bbq (possibly a Weber grill...) that is original! read more

Fabric8 is a lovely discovery I randomly stumbled upon! Walking around my neighborhood I was attracted by the big number 8 sign in front. What is this... To my discovery, I had found a cute, and lovely little shop filled with art from some known artists & local artists, clothing, cds, etc. Very artistically filled with items created by artists with a passion. They carry artwork from Sirron, Romanowski, Gama Go & Upperplayground...etc. The owner was very nice, and welcoming. I definitely will be coming by here again. The store itself is cute, and well designed. I love the little bbq grill set up as what looked like would be the counter to pay at. Items are priced... well it's art..you cant really say its too expensive or too cheap. Just make sure you ring the door bell to be let in :) read more

i can't believe I have not reviewed Fabric8 yet! No where else in the area can I purchase NaCo brand clothing, and boy do i love me some NaCo (clothing, for you Spanish speakers playing along at home). I first discovered the brand while visiting friends in Guadalajara, Mexico, and thought there was no way I'd find it for sale here in the U.S. and certainly not locally. I was more than pleased when I learned a local boutique actually carried NaCo clothing, and holy crap, they're only a few blocks from my house! Due to Fabric8's order online , pick up in store option, I was able to be lazy, and almost instantly gratified at the same time. Any company who allows me to do this will definitely have a repeat customer. read more

Admire the curio-like window display, and sleuth around for some one-off cd's by SF's finest dj's. I'm totally hooked on Romanowski's Rocksteady Explosion (sorry... just bought the last of vol.2). Fabric 8's a great little find in the Mission. Olivia, the owner, picks some cool items, and brings a friendly vibe. You'll find the usual t-shirts and accessories, but mixed up with music, jewelry and some awesome original art. There are even things for the baby set. Get on their newsletter to find out about the live painting events -- a nice Summer distraction. read more

Cute, off beat tee shirts and funky faux grass carpet. The tee's are unique, I love the one I bought, it says: VOLUNTEERING IS SEXY. Plus some of the proceeds go to SF Connect, so they're funky and philanthropic. It's a bonus that the staff are friendly, and chatty. read more

How do you support the local economy and local artists doing koolarse work, living off of their art? By going to Fabric8!!! I was ordering stuff from their website long before I moved to SF. So when I heard the news that a physical store opened, I had to check it out. The space is part gallery, part lounge, part store with a stylish indoor backyard flavour. There's the artificial grass and a cash register fashioned like a BBQ Grill! The selection is limited to two racks one for guys and the other for gals. I'd recommend that you order online and go browse and pickup in the store. The owners are really friendly and the prints/paintings really affordable! 5 solid stars!!! read more

This space is great. I came here that day when Creme Brulee Cart guy was there. Because at least he'd be in one place for a while and I'm not a great driver. The walls are a brilliant white. The natural light flows in to the rooms and illuminates the lightweight feeling of art space. There was some thing in the bathroom that had the shower flowing the whole time. I didn't get to see that exhibit because this annoyingly Asian couple were spending too much time in there. The front room has little trinkets, small knick-knacks, t-shirts and other collectibles. I'm not a t-shirt person nor a trinket person but I enjoyed looking at them. There are a lot of comics-inspired things. It made me go "Oh, cute!" but at no time did I need it on my body. I guess I'm a freak like that. I blame my parents. The new art gallery section featured paintings that were ... inspired by great artists and masters. It was a great collection of works, but the works were not great. Everyone here was so hip that I didn't deserve to share the oxygen with them. There was this one girl in front of me in line that was ultra ultra hip with her $5K chanel bag and her equally flamboyant BF with a camera bigger than his package. Are all hipsters knock-kneed? read more

What a great spot! Killer astroturf floor. I love artwork by Sirron Norris; you have to come by and see his little block buildings and tiny canvases. There are other artists there too but I couldn't see them; I was so captivated by all of Sirron's pieces. I tried to look at other pieces but it was like reverse polarity in magnets---my vision deflected off the other artwork and honed in on Sirron's. Such is life. Great inspiring business! read more

Trendy lil urban boutique right in mi hood. Olivia is Super-DOPE. She's always so friendly and helpful. They've got cool t-shirts and little gifts made by local artists. Not a lot of places you're going to find such badass local designs and artwork. Yeah--the t-shirts are awesome, but theres so much more there than the shirts, and for real you can just get those sent in from online. I spent a couple minutes sitting here thinking of how to describe it all, just now decided I can't--its just fresh, creative random stuff, all done with killer local style. I love that the woman there is so personally connected with all the local artists. Knows what their inspiration was for those credit card skins. Knows what they did to recreate Run-DMC and other oldschool rap artists in lego form. read more

I remember fabric-8 from long before I moved to California, staring in awe at their online store.. Love the story about the graffiti artist turned designer. I actually got inspired to do more painting after I checked out this store yesterday, I went home last night and painted something. Olivia seems super, too -- at one point one of the customers in the store had a question, and she went from her cash register to the customer, doing a lil dance. It was cute. read more

The coolest thing out of all the cool things here is the bathtub that has been converted into an aquarium. kinda inspires me and makes me wanna convert my own bathtub into a fully functioning aquarium. the t-shirts have some really cool designs on them, but i had to stop myself from impulsively buying one of them. the exhibit they had going on of the "Painted Ladies" was pretty cool and brought a nice twist to the way i saw some of those famous houses and their famous nickname. read more

On balance, Fabric8 is the best art gallery in the Mission in terms of space, quality of art, events, and price. I always try to pop in to see what is new because the art is constantly changing. I bought a painting here about a year ago for my girlfriend, which she loves. They have a wide variety of art at different prices, so you are sure to find something unique that fits your budget. Fabric8 also also sells clothing, music, and other fun stuff. The back galleries and yard are very cool (note the goldfish in the bathroom tub), and the entire space can all be rented out for private events. They also have a studio that can be rented out if you have guests coming to town who want a unique place to stay. Get on the mailing list and you will get updates on their regular events, including the food cart Fridays. Fabric8 has been a great addition to this part of the neighborhood. read more

Come here for the secret pleasure of walking around on their astro-turf floor. It's like being outside, inside! I didn't even know about this place until my friend told me that the Creme Brulee guy was there, and I've been wanting to get some creme brulee seeing how i never had any... anyway, Fabric8 is AMAZING. Stepping in there literally blew my mind! I love all the piece set against bright white walls and even the bathroom is accompanied by a bathtub full of koi fish! As I was finishing up my dessert, one of the people who worked there caught me looking a picture by Sirron Norris (who I never really looked into, but recognized the bear he likes to use alot) and she told me that I could get a print of that picture. I loved it so much I did! Once I come up with more moolah, I know I want to come back and get some artwork =) read more

I have enough t-shirts to make a parachute for a hippopotamus and then some, and that's why I love Fabric8. It is my crack. I've been buying t-shirts on their site for years. They have a ton of San Francisco artists whipping up shirts for them and I can't get enough. So normally I would dock this store a star because they have very few shirts on display (although I'm told they have more in the back) but I just can't do it. This store is so freaking cool. Paintings on the floor by Ferris Plock and commissioned works from Brian Barneclo and DJ Romanowski just to name a few. Top it all of with some artificial turf for carpeting and you have such a rad store. I can't wait to see what they do next, I envision some cool shit coming out of this place. read more

When I'm not in my work clothes, you can bet that I practically live in my Levi's and t-shirts. So it should come as no surprise that fabric 8 is a favorite store. You can either shop online, have it delivered or pick it up at the store (this avoids unnecessary shipping costs), or simply buy direct from the store. For t-shirts I prefer to browse online since they have a better selection. But if I'm looking for local art, figurines, CD's, etc... I prefer to walk over to the store since a lot of what they offer isn't listed online. The owner is really friendly and easy to talk to. Either way you choose to do it, you'll likely find a t-shirt or two or three that you like. read more

Really great Friday night destination! The art is always fun to explore, there are usually terrific food carts, a lovely garden out back in which to enjoy the delicious treats, and the bathtub has the wackiest fish I've ever seen (fun for kids too!).
