Their beer is excellent, and I've heard nothing but great things about the place and people. We visited on a Sunday and met friends, who said it took a while to get a big table for us; it was surprisingly packed! It's a large industrial brewery, with the equipment chained off at the back. They make great use of the rest of the building with large tables, small tables, bar seating/standing room, plus an arcade area, outside seating area, and a few cozy living room style areas with stuffed furniture at the back. To the right on entry is the canned beer for takeout, to the left is their large bar and impressive tap list. We mostly get IPAs, so it was fun to try their other styles like rice lagers and a barleywine, everything was excellent. Their flights are huge, basically half size goblet pours in a six rack. Prices are reasonable for the well developed beer. They also had a food vendor outside, which we loved (see separate review). It's great to see a place equally rock great beer and a fun experience, I definitely look forward to returning sometime soon.

However, the…read moreexperience falls short on value, quality, and atmosphere. $13.50 for a pour is steep, especially when served half-full in a small glass. The stout was, to be polite, thin in texture. The aromas were present, but I winced with each taste of the lukewarm, harshly burnt flavor of acid. It didn't get better with each sip. For a moderately quiet Friday, I had to shout to people next to me due to the acoustics of the space. If you prefer traditional, additive-free brewing and full pints, there are far better options.

Booking the spot was easy. After I messaged Maria, she was quick to confirm that our date was available. (We booked 3 months in advance.) The booking and payment/deposit process was also straight forward. Really appreciate the easy process. As for the space, it can fit up to 50 people for a luncheon comfortably. One restroom; back room for extra tables and that's where our caterer stayed during our event. (Which btw I booked after seeing them featured on A Venue's Instagram post.) Maria and team had setup the tables, chairs, table covers and the balloon backdrop (extra charge) for us. The place was also so clean when we arrived! We booked this spot for a bday surprise family luncheon and it was perfect for our family! Can't wait to book again!

The building was a printing press back in the day, so it's a bit of a maze but that's part of the charm. I've discovered some amazing local businesses. I recently went to their February artisan food fairs, and bought some delicious food products. They had a variety of food vendors: hot sauces, honey, dips, cookies, teas, and more. As for the craft fairs, respect jewelry, candles, cutting boards, and even a few food vendors. That's where I discovered Apisol, a woman-owned company based in the Peninsula that makes delicious sparkling honey beverages. Don't miss the vintage store on the first floor, which has really unique vintage products like postcards, buttons, posters, and more. There are so many fairs in the city, but the vendors here are ones that I haven't seen anywhere else. So check out their insta or their website for dates to their upcoming fairs.

I never heard of this place until a fellow Yelper brought this up to me and I said SFBox? I never heard or been in this location before and I am sure most of you never heard of this place either unless you search for history of the William Randolph Hearst printing press building so many years ago. The building was built in 1926 as a printing plant for the San Francisco Examiner. It is a nice mixed use building like a nice cozy maze to explore the nice layout and architecture of the old print shop. So upstairs about 2 floors and vendors are scattered so it's like a hunt for them, almost like a needle in haystack. Lol Well it's not that hard as you won't miss anyone. Too floor that where you will satisfy your sweet tooth . Yummy. The vendors that were there were a nice mix from tea, cheese, spices, India coffee , Turkish spreads, ice cream, giant cookies, healthy drinks, spreads, and I am sure you will find something you will enjoy. I don't normally buy stuff, but the honey , red beet, 2004 sweet land Bingdao $95 brick tea that is aged 21 years that can make 175 tea servings for $95, Il Fiorello basalmic vinegar was thick and smooth great texture and syrupy taste very captivating and Taste of Levant tahini and their chocolate jar of molasses was excellent and I had to buy them. Yummy in my tummy! Not sure if same vendors will be there again, so catch them the at your farmers market, festivals or next Eats event!

This space is WAY cool…read more Elegant? Vintage? Intimate and cozy? What else could you ask for? I worked an event here for a wedding reception a couple of months ago and was in love with the Great Gatsby-themed party. It was both elegant and vintage, with an awesome upstairs area with tiny rabbit-hole bedrooms and a living space with enough room for a photo booth, couches, card tables and a library of vinyl records (you can bet it got me there). And besides it being an amazing space, the workers are what set it apart. Although the hired talent (from DJ to food vendors to wedding planners, etc.) added to the overall feeling of being a GREAT party, the staff is always very friendly, approachable and accommodating. Easy to talk to, easy to find, and they give you enough space to enjoy your night. This venue is fully equipped with a full, open kitchen area (which is beautiful too, by the way) and artsy wall decor all over their bathrooms (but still so damn clean). This venue alone is a gem that is very unique to the Bay... And it almost feels like you're in on an exclusive spot. Come be a cool kid and come to Chez Poulet!

From 24th Street Mission BART Station, head south on Mission and hang a left at Cesar Chavez. While on the south side of the street, keep your eyes peeled for a large red door, part way between Mission & Van Ness Streets. Walking in, you'll see DJ's in the Radio Valencia booth, busily broadcasting. http://radiovalencia.fm/about/ You'll also encounter a small coat rack, a few parked bikes, and a person checking guests in. He asked about food restrictions ~ I think this is geared for folks who pre-arranged. Since I was a last minute stand in and hadn't indicated beforehand, he suggested that I skip the meat (I've been trying to be more vegetarian these days, although the last few have been the contrary). $10 or $20 bottles of red offered at check in ~ we were lucky to purchase the last bottle. I recommend getting there on the early side if you'd like to indulge in wine. Walking into the main dining area, I came across easy on the eyes ambiance ~ long communal tables, dark, candle glow, high loft ceiling, low stage, brick wall, small disco ball. Attire ranged from date-night dressy to casual. Our pre-fixe dinner included (description from the site): Course 1: Potato and leek soup with bacon lardons & crostini Course 2: Mango salad with mixed organic greens & a vinaigrette Course 3: Seared polenta with ricotta cheese (homemade), chives & apricot jam Course 4: 'Roast beast: cooked slow and low... apple cider braised pork shoulder with apple/cabbage slaw dressed with cider vinegar' Course 5: chocolate cupcake with 'goth' motif in honor of David J. I'm all for (plastic) spider rings, cockroaches and centipedes. Three bands performed between courses moving the evening along. David J (of Bauhaus fame) was the 'headliner', taking me back to the '80's with 'St. James Infirmary'. Highlights of CP included Courses 4 & 5, the 50-seat communal atmosphere and live entertainment. John, the MC, did a great job keeping the evening upbeat and flowing. Chez Poulet hosts special events. My online search yielded a few crumbs as to how to keep a pulse on CP happenings. If you want to partake, my recommendation is to set up a Google Alert, or check on BrownPaperTickets.com. The friend that invited me was there because her friend invited her. This friend couldn't make it , hence I came upon Chez Poulet on this dark and stormy night. Woo hoo!

More recently, the space has undergone a beautiful upgrade. It's stylish and retro with a deco flair and if that sounds confusing it's only because you've not been. All of the previous accolades still apply but now the space is super nice and if you're seeking an event space you'd be remiss not to give the Verdi a look. In the past 4 months I've twice attended events at the Verdi Club. One was a special birthday with a sit-down meal, cocktails, and a live band on stage. It was carried off with perfection, a model for how anyone would want their special birthday commemorated. More recently I was here for a different sort of event and it, too, was pulled off nicely. The array of food and drink was attractive and tasty, the space itself clean and stylish, and the event itself fun. It's worth checking the Verdi Club calendar for upcoming and/or monthly events as this is one of the nicer spots to hang in. Street parking is relatively easy and mostly flat. Whether you're looking for some fun or looking to host some fun, the Verdi Club should definitely be on your list to check out. I've never been to anything here that I didn't enjoy and that says a lot about all aspects of the venue.
