The inside of Venue 550 looks like an entirely different country... something you would find in the movie Aladdin. This is an excellent venue for any event that requires high production like art or music shows. They have their own sound system, projection, and lighting. Lots of niches and caves for guests to sit, stand, and have their own conversations within small groups. The event I attended had several stations for food, alcohol, and video recording. There was no trouble with parts of the event getting too crowded and congested, which is why the unique floorplan of Venue 550 is great. The staff is top-notch too. I approached one of the staff members standing by the restrooms to ask about the venue. He was kind and helped me find the event manager Andrew. He could have easily had the "I'm just working here, leave me alone" attitude, but his service-oriented nature really contributed to the venue quality. The event manager Andrew was also walking around the event, so I approached him to ask for more information, which he emailed to me. I'm definitely considering having an event here in the near future! Or I'll just find another event happening here and attend that.

The owner and event manager know what they're doing, and although we hit a few bumps in the road getting a contract signed, the event itself came together phenomenally! There was the main floor where we had plenty of space to set up game kiosks and upstairs were a lot of cavernous alcoves that were perfect for media interviews. There are multiple projectors to show videos on the walls, which is great for presentations. They also have a holographic display set up, which is pretty unique, but unfortunately we did not utilize it so I can't speak to how well it works or looks. The event manager, Andrew, was extremely enthusiastic and attentive to our needs (it probably helped that he was also a gamer!). Even though we hadn't given any instructions in regards to lighting or music, he went ahead and put on some lights and music that really elevated the mood of the event. He also handled various last minute requests with patience and willingness. We booked Me So Hungry, a food truck that was Venue 550 recommended. The truck parked right outside the venue and food was brought in and set up on the bar, and it worked out wonderfully. I will say parking is kind of a pain, but that's San Francisco for you... The bathroom area is also co-ed, but each "stall" is walled off and quite private.

We started our night in the backyard. They have a bar on the right serving wine and they had a server passing out the appetizers. I am usually not a fan of a deviled egg but it was so good. I also loved the truffle and white mushroom tarts. The tart was warm and when you but into it, it melted it in your mouth. The last appetizer that was passed around was phyllo wrapped pawns those were my favorite they had a sweet sauce on top. After a little while of hanging in the back yard we were seated at the table. We had 5 tables 10 people each. I loved the set up, there were so many details form the fresh flowers to the gold silverware. It definitely felt like an upscale experience even though we were in house. The first thing I was served was the salad. I loved all the colors from the radishes and the dressing was super fresh and a little citrusy. It was exactly what I needed after a long day. Then they served us the agnolotti. I loved the pumpkin with the sage butter sauce it was the perfect amount of sweet. Lastly we had the short rib. It was cooked to perfection and served with mashed potatoes. Overall, this was a memorable place. The fact that you are in a home gives the atmosphere such an intimate feeling paired with great service and great food.

Many of you don't remember when the Meteron first opened this…read more Cityview event space at the Metreon in San Francisco was formerly a play space called "Where the Wild Things Are" inspired by Maurice Sendak's book, which opened in 1999 and closed in 2004. The 4th floor space where the play area was located was later gutted and transformed into the Cityview event venue and balcony with city views today. I happened to work at the Moms Against Poverty gala event. The layout was very well planned and fit everyone one. There was a silent auction where guests could bid on lovely items, mostly Iran related items, ceramics, art, paintings, beauty, gift certificates. Everyone was very nice and we all worked well together. I had fun at this event to make sure guest questions were answered and assisted them with the silent auction. Some background of this nonprofit, Moms Against Poverty started in 2006 when its founder, Delfarib Fanaie, was inspired by a young girl in an Iranian orphanage named Sepideh, who asked, "Why can't you take me with you?". Delfarib was unable to answer the child's question. Because of this incident, she was determination to help impoverished children. In 2008, Delfarib rallied friends, family, and colleagues, and together they founded the non-profit organization to fight childhood poverty through education, health, and compassion. The location is great as it is close to public transportation and parking garage is a block away. The views are great as you can see, as it overlooks the Yerba Buena gardens and famous landmark like the Musuem of Modern Art. Hotels are also near by as well and City College of San Francisco Downtown campus.

Om Shan Tea was a special haven full of wondrous people and nourishing tea. It was a sad day when Om Shan Tea closed in San Francisco. The Center, another unique SF tea spot, helped continue Om Shan Tea's legacy of communal tea gatherings, but sadly that venue closed as well. I was excited earlier this year to learn that Oshan from Om Shan Tea, was hosting a weekly Tea Tribe Tuesday gathering at HeartLab in the Mission district. The acoustics are wonderful. Even HeartLab's bathroom is carefully decorated and well maintained. It feels like you're entering someone's precious space when you enter HeartLab. I thought I was standing in a mansion ballroom. Suddenly, your party has been upgraded to a soirée. The Beaux-Arts architecture makes a great canvas for the creamy mint green walls, flourishes of gold leaf, chandeliers, and grand curtains. And so I dusted off my party dress and hid the Uniqlo ultralight in my bag. I could definitely see a Bridgerton theme party here.

As you waited for your tour and tasting, they passed around Ahi Tuna, Smoked Duck and Steak appetizers. Luckily we waited enough to have many gold coins given to us. The overall event was fun and I got to try a lot of really fine cognac, but a lot of the time it's all about the location. There was no answer at the door. There was no response to calls. After 20 minutes, we attempted to message via Facebook. We were told that they decided to close today, because it wasn't busy. We didn't receive any notice, even though 3 members from our company stayed late to tour the venue. We were given an apology, but no effort was made to resolve the situation. They couldn't schedule a time for us to return. There was little care given to our time and effort, they were not organized enough to provide notice to cancel or reschedule the appointment before we were waiting outside the door. If this reflects the customer care and ability to manage events, I would not trust this venue to show up or create a good experience for my employees, customers, friend or family. Problems happen, but solutions must be provided. Without any effort to fix the situation, I would suggest everyone avoid this venue.

I had actually recommended them to a friend for their wedding, so I got to experience both venues. We had the rehearsal dinner at the Marina location after the City Hall ceremony, and then the main wedding reception was at their Sausalito venue the following day. The Marina location was incredibly convenient, especially being so close to City Hall. It made the transition from the ceremony to the celebration really seamless. The service was fantastic from start to finish. One thing worth mentioning is that the Marina location definitely has more energy outside. Unlike Sausalito, which feels tucked away and completely private, the Marina is right in the middle of a lively neighborhood with plenty of people walking around. For us, that actually added to the atmosphere. After dinner everyone spilled out into the neighborhood, and it turned into such a fun evening. We also had a guest using a wheelchair, and accessibility was never an issue, which was really appreciated. The drinks were excellent, the DJ kept the energy up all night, and the entertainment was incredible. They even brought in burlesque performers and a few interactive activations, including table tennis outside, which made the evening feel unique rather than just another wedding event. We also had a live band, and every detail felt thoughtfully planned. One thing I thought was especially cool was that as our rehearsal dinner wrapped up, the team was already transforming the venue for another wedding after party. It really showed how versatile the space is. I honestly think this is one of the best spots in San Francisco for wedding after parties or any celebration where you want people to keep the night going. From everything my friend shared, the ERIA team handled virtually everything, from the planning and logistics to the gorgeous floral design, and it all came together beautifully. I'm not married myself yet, but after seeing how they executed this wedding, they'll absolutely be one of the first teams I call when that day comes. Nikita is incredibly responsive, has a really fun energy, and is proactive about making sure both your needs and her team's needs are taken care of. I really appreciated how flexible they were about how much we wanted to bring in ourselves versus have their team handle. You can make it a full-service experience or bring in your own vendors, and having that range of options was really nice. We were working on a really accelerated timeline, and they went out of their way to accommodate us and make things work. I would absolutely recommend ERIA Marina and would love to work with Nikita and the team again!
