The Pearl is a 3 floor event venue on the corner of 19th & Illinois Sts. It's a beautiful site and the event I attended was "Future of Us" featuring art, sculpture, and hands on experiences. I felt I had fallen down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland. An exceptional and beautiful installation which took up the 1st floor. (Photos below). On each floor was a huge buffet of cheeses, salads, breads also an open bar with exotic cocktails to choose from. The 2nd floor was a pianist & cello player. Beautiful music and finally the 3rd floor, the Rooftop! What a wonderful forest like rooftop, filled with large tropical plants and sofas & comfy chairs to sit and enjoy performers who sang and entertained the large group. Did I mention that not only something different on each floor but food and cocktails were provided on each floor? What an experience and what a venue! read more

We fell in love with The Pearl when we toured it for our wedding venue! It's a beautiful space, larger than it looks and in a great spot. We mostly worked with Tracy and Brynna who were awesome and helped us so much throughout the process. We had a lot of questions and they were always easy to reach and quick to respond. The day-of managers were also helpful and on top of everything throughout the night. We used their in-house bar and our guests loved the drinks and the bartenders. They were super friendly, experienced, quick and accommodating. Their cocktail program and their ingredients are much more elevated than what you usually find with venues which was a huge plus. The rooftop is gorgeous with plants and string lights, while the inside has beautiful greenery hanging from the ceiling and globe lanterns. We love how it turned out and The Pearl will always be a special place to us! read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in SF. I've always wanted my neighborhood spot and while this isn't my neighborhood it feels like you're a local here. From the cocktails to the seasonal veggie starters to my all time favorite the squid ink shrimp pasta. I always want to come here and I love the vibe (dim lighting/cozy). I'd recommend a reservation. Otherwise it's typically easy to walk in for the bar or outdoor seating. Note, you won't regret coming here. It's perfect for any occasion. read more

Came for a company-hosted event! The space itself is very spacious spanning two floors and an outdoor roof patio. From the roof patio you can view the main floor, and there are plenty of heat lamps to keep the rooftop warm. The main floor is spacious as well, however, the bathrooms on the first and second floor are pretty small. They had dancers show up to hype up the crowd which was pretty fun, as well as bartenders stationed at each of the floors. Time for the downsides: the event was from 6-11, and there were not a lot of seating options. Also, for the small bites, it was a bit difficult to find out where they were going to be. The food was good though! Just wish there was more of it. The drinks were not very good- the syrups they used were reminiscent of cough medication. read more

We held a work event at The Pearl and it was an excellent venue for a professional event for three hours. They let us set up a stage, seating, a bar, two demo areas, and sound check. It was clean and super posh. It was small enough that it felt intimate and big enough that no one felt cramped. The vibe is cool and industrial, which allows you to customize it however you like. We were downstairs on the first floor, but I know they do weddings and fancier things upstairs! Very much enjoyed being there for our event. read more

My husband and I were fortunate enough to choose The Pearl as our wedding venue this past September 2021. To be honest, I knew The Pearl had to be my wedding venue even prior to getting engaged and I'm glad my now husband loved it as much as I did! We're very lucky to have shared the space with all our family and friends on our special day. We utilized the rooftop for our ceremony and cocktail hour and had our reception on the main floor and mezzanine. So much space to work with and make it your own! The Pearl made all my industrial, city chic yet modern romantic wedding dreams come true lol We worked with Carrie, who was so great to work with from point of inquiry until the very end! I recommend scheduling a site visit so that you can see and walk through the space in person. She was so helpful with answering our million and one questions, making any suggestions and sharing any additional info we needed. When we got closer to the wedding date, we also worked with the production manager, Alex, who made sure the space was set up exactly how we envisioned and ensured the day of went as smoothly as possible. Another favorite part of the process was meeting with the bar manager, Johnny! He helped us customize our drink selections to make sure they paired well with our menu for the night. We chose a bar package that included signature cocktails, which we were able to have a lot of input in customizing and both cocktails were a hit! The Pearl has worked with so many great vendors in the industry, so they also offer a great preferred vendors list when it comes to catering, lighting, rentals, etc. For catering we went with Carrie Dove which we loved also! The day of staff was so professional, helpful and friendly - they definitely made all our guests feel welcomed. I can't say enough good things about The Pearl! Choosing a venue is one of the most important decisions and we're so glad we had ours here. Carrie and team made the whole process as painless as possible and we're truly grateful for the experience we had with The Pearl. Like the name, this place is pretty special! Having our brother's wedding here was a memorable event. From the moment you walk into the space, you'll be wowed continuously throughout the night. From the beautiful entry space where they had placed the guest book, photos and polaroids, to the main event space with an eye catching, tree art that really anchors the wall. The original cranes in the ceiling that hosts a living garden really warms up the room. The mezzanine area can hold several small tables to host a stand up reception and if you have over 200+ guests, this space can hold it all. Their rooftop terrace is amazing and has views of the bay. If it wasn't so windy, I would've parked myself on their comfy lounge chairs. The Pearl works with a lot of top notch, local restaurants, catering services (i.e. Bi-Rite, Jardiniere, etc) and bakeries such as Mission Pies and Dynamo Donuts. Pearls have always been a symbol of class and sophistication. If you desire to have that in a chic, urban setting, this is the venue of your dreams. read more

The Pearl will forever hold a special place in the hearts of myself and my husband. It was the first venue we toured and we knew right away it was going to make for such a special wedding day. We are now 2 days post wedding and we couldn't be happier with our decision. The entire planning process was a breeze thanks to Carrie. All of our guests raved abut how amazing it was that the ceremony and reception were at the same location! We did our ceremony on the roof, as well as our cocktail hour on the roof. Then we had guests walk downstairs to our reception area. The bartenders were incredible and did a fantastic job keeping our 130 guests well fueled. We hired Melons Catering, a caterer on The Pearl's short list of caterers, who absolutely knocked it out of the park when it came to the food. Guests couldn't stop talking about the quality and service of dinner! We are over the moon with how our wedding went and have zero bad things to say about The Pearl, or anyone who works there. If you're looking for a venue that screams urban city, but green and organic as well... look no further, as The Pearl can do it all. 10/10 recommend!! read more

I got the opportunity to work an event here as a vendor and the experience received with B was AMAZING!! I've worked at many venues before and I have never experienced the level of hospitality we received from B. We all checked in early morning and she constantly checked in to make sure we were good. She got us water, recommended a few breakfast places as well as a few parking options. Most house operation coordinators would check in and be on their way, but for B to know how important hydration is for event staff already set the bar to know who I'd love to continue working with in the future. If this is the experience we received as vendors, I can only imagine the type of service any client of The Pearl receives from her!! Her service would be a major factor when choosing a venue, and I hope all of The Pearl's potential and current clients experience the best service we received from her. Thank you, B!!! read more

Beautiful venue space. Came for a wedding and there's 3 floors of space to utilize. They are ADA accessible but the woman working the elevators were rude. If someone wasn't using the elevators, she wasn't allowing anyone else. For those in high heels, it would've relieved a lot of pain but she made us take the stairs... just her and her service was poor. Aside from that, being here for the wedding was nice. There's a rooftop for the ceremony was beautiful, second floor for Photo Booth, and first floor for the reception and bar. Food was decent but the hor dourves were our fave. read more

A beautiful place to have your corporate event! Three unique levels with all the amenities you would desire to throw a great party. We were excited when we booked it for the corporate event and upon arrival had all of that destroyed by rude management that strangely trickled down to her bartenders?!?! Who obviously cannot think for themselves and were dreadful at their jobs anyway. Aperol Spritz is not a complicated cocktail and they managed to mess up a WHOLE LOT OF THEM!! Standing around and looking glum is bad for business, fellas. Your job is not that hard. Also, they decided to leave a scissor lift tucked in the corner of the venue, visible, for the entire event! The Pearl is a fantastic place to hold corporate or private events. This event of fun had about 400 guests. The staff were amazing and top notch. They even provided all of the guests valet parking which made it extremely convenient for those traveling across the bay. I was so glad to know they hired locally sourced vendors for catering. There was a special performance along with fantastic "mob dancers" impromptu that took the guests all by surprised. If you get a chance, go checkout their roof top deck and watch the awesome sunset in urban San Francisco style. There is a second floor as well where they also provided a second bar including the roof top deck (woo-hoo). All in all, it was a fun evening for all. read more

We recently hosted our wedding reception at the Pearl (August 2017) and don't regret booking this place! From the moment we first walked into this gem of a venue in the Dogpatch, we knew it was meant for us. We had to spoil our guests in this space. There are 3 levels in this venue that we utilized - the Rooftop for a late afternoon cocktail hour, Main Floor for dinner and dancing and the Mezzanine (overlooking the main floor) for dessert, games and lounging. It's a former industrial space transformed into an open and gorgeous event space, with transportation-related art along the walls and the main column, strategically renovated for efficiently hosting an event. We used The Pearl's in-house beverage service, and it was a hit with our crowd. Well-made drinks and personable bartenders to set the tone of our event. The Pearl also has a list of preferred caterers for events. We chose LRE Catering from their list. Food was amazing and service was top-notch. The Pearl has a dedicated in-house lighting and A/V company (Got Light) which we used as well - at an additional cost. There was plenty of street parking nearby for our guests and a loading zone outside the venue for our shuttles and drop-off. Every detail from the service of the security guards, to complimentary coat check and down to the tile in the bathrooms were A++. The Pearl did not disappoint when it came to fully executing our vision via our wedding coordinator (Studio DBI) and Wedding Sales Manager, Carrie. We highly recommend anyone looking for something different to WOW their guests to check out The Pearl. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience with the Pearl. We had to cancel our engagement party due to COVID (was scheduled for March 2020). Initially the Pearl intended to keep ALL of our money, including open bar payment and site fee. The GM was also very rude to us on the phone, telling us we were selfish for asking for money back. Their contract had a force majuere clause which several lawyers advised me would warrant the return of our money, especially as the delay dragged on beyond 1.5 years. We ultimately had to take them to small claims to receive a refund. At small claims the judge mentioned that The Pearl had been there several times with other clients already. Small claims forced the issuance of a refund of 50% of the site fee and 50% in credit which we could transfer to another party. However, the Pearl managed to block this too when I found someone to transfer to. I could have taken it back to the judge but at this point, I just want to wash my hands of them and the whole affair. There were a lot of vendors who were honest, fair and kind during COVID but The Pearl wasn't one of them. Additionally, a friend of mine who runs a event space rental site told me they dropped The Pearl (pre COVID) from their vendor list because of bad consumer business practices. I would recommend avoiding them and using one of the many other beautiful venues in San Francisco. read more

The Pearl is a beautiful space run by people who are interested in nothing more than finding every way they can to cheat naive people (us included) out of their money. Should you be interested in holding your event with them, make sure you ask for a line item cost breakdown and reach out to caterers prior to putting down a non-refundable deposit, as once you learn the machinations behind their complete lack of ethical conduct, they will certainly not return your money. We planned to host our event with The Pearl, toured the venue, and they send their friendliest, most helpful event manager, Carrie, to assist in selling the space to you. We asked Carrie if we would be permitted to use food trucks for the event in lieu of their preferred caterer list, as the venue and bar minimum for New Year's Eve itself was a bit higher than our venue budget. Carrie told us that we "should" be able to and even recommended a company, Off the Grid, to aid us in this endeavor. It was only after reaching out to the company (after multiple tries and no response) that we learned that Off the Grid's proposal was as high, if not higher than every other caterer on the list. Additionally, half of their caterers were unresponsive to requests for an estimate. Through reaching out to one potential caterer who was actually responsive, we learned that The Pearl was charging hidden "kitchen use" fees to us through the catering companies, at the rate of an additional $3000. This caterer informed us that The Pearl, unlike other venues, folded this fee into catering packages, and while not all caterers would be up front about the cost and that it was mandated by the venue, they would all be charging us for it in some way or another. Prior to signing the contract, we asked The Pearl if janitorial services were included, as we did not see them listed in the contract. They informed us that yes, these services were included. Only after speaking with caterers did we learn that in fact, the only "janitorial" services The Pearl covers are sweeping and that we would be forced to keep the caterers at the event hours after food service had concluded in order to provide actual janitorial services, per The Pearl's requirement of caterers. This added astronomical and unnecessary labor costs in estimates, simply because The Pearl was negligent in being honest about the scope of their janitorial services. Lastly, when, due to our own naivete, we realized labor costs are nearly double on New Year's Eve (this is on us, as we should have better done our research beforehand), we asked if we could move the date up by one day -- this request was made in March or April, nearly 9 months from the event date, and before The Pearl had planned or executed anything for our event. They said we could, however we would forfeit the deposit we made ($6000+) in order to do so. Though Carrie attempted to work with us and was far more helpful than anyone we spoke with at The Pearl, it became evident that the people who own The Pearl are interested in nothing but scamming people out of their money while offering nothing but an empty space for it. If you're interested in a venue in San Francisco, our recommendations would be The Galleria, The Legion of Honor, Monroe SF (where we'll be having ours), or literally anywhere else that has a modicum of integrity in their business practices and will be up front with you regarding costs, as The Pearl lacks any such moral fiber. read more

As good as it gets for a wedding venue in the bay area. A real dream come true. The wedding went even better than I could have imagined (and with over a year and a half of consistent planning, we imagined quite a lot). We searched through dozens of venues in the bay area and surrounding areas, and the Pearl was the only one that we found with the combination of flexible catering, flexible hours, not being open to the public on the wedding day, and the logistical convenience of being close enough to San Francisco airport. In short, we told them how our wedding was going to be, not the other way around. Aside from those hard requirements, being able to have two ceremonies of our design, a cocktail hour, dinner of our choosing, and dancing all in the same venue and all in the same day was something that I'm not sure another venue could have pulled off. The beautiful art, views, and photo opportunities were a nice bonus. And on the day of, they, and all of the vendors they introduced us to, executed on their service successfully. read more

I just hosted my wedding at the Pearl a few days ago, and it was really a great venue. We didn't know anything about putting on an event like this but it went off without a hitch and all our guests had a great time. The roof is beautiful and is a really great spot to hang out in the sun and get some fresh air with nice plants and accents. The Mezzanine and the main floor are cool and funky with a bunch of great art all over the walls. They have "green rooms" availible for the wedding party to get ready in the back while your guests mill about and arrive, too so you can take a break when you need it, haha We got a really good deal on the venue rental fees, too, because we held our event on a Sunday. If you're worried about the price, ask them if there are any upcoming dates that they're discounting and you could be able to save a bundle if you're not set on a particular day ;) All the staff we interacted with were extremely professional and responsive. Had the pleasure of designing a retirement party/15 year celebration and The Pearl experience was truly (ignore the silly reference) a gem. Here are a few things that stand out. 1. We were considering two other venues but the Pearl site visit and subsequent follow up led by Sarah was just simply more timely, detailed and client oriented. 2. The Pearl operations staff led by Alex was extremely flexible since the event was booked late in their process and we were nimble in our ability to hit deadlines. 3. The Pearl, the venue itself is simply breathtaking. While we had a buyout and did not maximize the venue to it's full potential, aesthically it just offers so much. We visited last night for their industry launch event and wow did they roll out the red carpet with food, drink, activities and entertainment--really showcasing the entire space so well. The space is airy and inspiring with original art, two levels and a rooftop with 360 degree views. The staff--friendly, helpful and attentive. We were so lucky to find The Pearl as our wedding venue. After researching every SF venue we could find, we ended up finding out about The Pearl from a testimonial on the caterer's website. At the time (Dec '16), The Pearl was only a few months old. We're so glad we found out about it when we did! The venue is absolutely stunning. We had our ceremony on the roof and reception in the main room. For us, the space is the perfect balance of homey, trendy and industrial. Very little needs to be done in terms of decorations. Carrie was wonderful to work with from start to finish, and the vendors on The Pearl's approved list were top notch. We ended up working with Ally at Foxtail Catering and couldn't be happier. My firm had a casual networking event at The Pearl for ~100 guests in the fall. The space is wonderfully done with unique art, multiple levels for entertaining and ample room for groups 6-8x our size. The rooftop is great for hosting outdoor gatherings making it a pretty unique event space in SF. The event planning and management staff was professional, incredibly helpful and provided great suggestions during the entire process. Our event went off without hitch and our guests were all impressed with the venue. We will definitely use the space again. read more

The Pearl was simply the perfect venue for our 2016 Silver Trowel dinner for Slide Ranch. Having a custom place to hold an event in SF was sorely needed. We're done many events over the years and this was by far the best. Everyone who attended agreed wholeheartedly. Starting cocktails on the roof was heaven. The views and the great weather in that part of the city worked so well. The space was the perfect canvas on which to work. It has just enough great art work and plants to make it unique, but not so much to change the vibe you might want to create. Lighting vendors can bring the place to life. Meadowood who catered our event are used to great kitchen/venues, and loved working in the space. The founder/owners have worked really hard to create a unique party space for SF and deserve the city's support. Don't hesitate. read more
