Our 2004 Ford Excursion PSD recently experienced a coolant leak while pulling our travel trailer. The truck was put on a dyno and pressure tested. The diagnosis was blown head gaskets. Of course all of these types of failures happen when you only have a couple of weeks before your vacation trip. I obtained price quotes from 3 shops and our local Ford dealer but was not satisfied with the reviews from these shops. I made a few phone calls looking for an experienced diesel tech. Those calls and Yelp reviews led me to Mannix Automotive in Round Rock. All I could find were 5 star reviews and now I know why. With two weeks to go until our trip Rich agreed to take the truck in for the needed repairs. With his diagnosis we agreed to replace several additional parts in addition to the head gaskets. The truck body was lifted off the frame to make the engine more accessible. He also went the extra mile to have a machine shop resurface the heads and hot wash the intake manifold. The goal was to bulletize the Ford 6.0 liter engine. He finished the work with 5 days to spare. He asked that we drive the truck for several days then return to his shop for a final inspection. He is a one man shop but does amazing quality work. Two days after receiving the truck back we hooked up the 10K pound trailer and headed for the Rocky Mountains. We drove about 2100 miles at altitudes up to 13K feet. We had no issues with overheating or coolant puking. Truck performed flawlessly. It is with great pleasure that I write my second Yelp review. It's rare that I write online reviews as I have little time to do so. The infrequent occasions I do are when I experience exceptional service, and that's exactly what I experienced at Mannix Automotive. It was an acquaintance that told me of Mannix Automotive. He glowed not only about the level of service he received, but also about the proprietor, Rich Mannix. I understand now why he glowed. Rich is a special character. You will know it as soon as you speak with him. He is a gentle fellow and as scrupulous as they come. He established his own business after years of witnessing flagrant abuses in the automotive repair field. I felt comfortable the moment I met Rich and had no hesitation in leaving my beloved Toyota Camry with him. The Camry needed a water pump replacement and new serpentine belt. The Toyota dealership quoted $600 for the same repair, and other independent shops, while less costly, gave quotes that were still too high in my estimation. In summation, Rich had my car repaired the same day and the bill was markedly lower than the other quotes I was given. My Camry has been purring like a kitten ever since. Hopefully it won't require other repairs anytime soon, but if so, it will be repaired at Mannix Automotive. read more

Woohoo. Found Mannix Automotive and I don't have to do my own maintanence anymore. Have always done my own repairs if I could because of non trustworthy repair shops. I found Rich by a referral from a friend of mine. Had a problem on my 2002 f-150 which I could not resolve. Took it to a different shop which told me I needed all new spark plugs and coil on plugs. Total was going to be $1200 and they wouldn't assure that it would fix the problem. Rich found the problem in the wiring harness ( Nothing to do with the spark plugs or coil on plug) and repaired it, inspected the pickup, checked everything else, vaccumed the interior and replaced light bulbs for no charge and half the money the other shop wanted. Also told me the fuel pump is slightly week but no problem for now. He could have told me it was bad and I would have had him replace it. Such outstanding honesty, integrity, professionalism, friendly and truly caring individual. Please don't take a chance by taking your vehicle anywhere else. Rich and his business is the REAL DEAL. Hello, I'm relative new to the area and I was looking for a good mechanic shop to have our 2003 Ford Explorer serviced. I didn't want to deal with the dealer because I'm kind of weary of them....(not all but most). So I had I gone to this auto shop which is a national chain which I won't name and they gave me an estimate on all the work that needed to be done which I figured was over the top because we normally service our vehicles regularly. So, I was sorta desperate and decided to give Yelp a try and this is where I came across Mannix automative and Rich who is the owner. I immediately felt very comfortable with Rich straight out the gate after showing him and he giving me an assessment of my problems. It turned out all the work the other place quoted me on wasn't necessary and I got our problems fixed and saved nearly half of what we were about to be charged from the place. I recently took my 2003 Ford Expedition to Mannix Automotive. Had been quoted repairs at 2 other shops, but I got 2 different repair lists on what "needed" to be done. I heard about Mannix Automotive, thought i would see what they had to say, and it was very close to my employer. I spoke to Rich the owner and showed him the 'quotes', I felt very comfortable, being a woman, on how i was treated and how he explained things to me. He did the repairs for me and come to find out the other 2 places were overpriced and trying to get me for more then I needed done. I have told everyone about this shop and the owner and the service I received. I have another vehicle and from now on...Mannix Automotive is the place I will be going to have all my repairs done. So my 15 year old Honda goes toes up on the freeway. I limp it home on 3 cylinders, belching smoke and shuddering. I get on the www and find Mannix Auto near my house. I went in and talked to Rich, the owner. He takes my car and has is diagnosed within an hour. It will need a substantial repair. Rich got the parts and repaired my Honda within a day, showed me what happened that caused the failure and told me how to avoid it in the future. More than that, the quality of Rich's work is amazing. My car runs better now than it did when it was new. That is no exaggeration whatsoever. Now and then you encounter a business that makes you feel blessed for having gone there. That is Mannix Auto. This is the only mechanic I will use. Period. Wow! What an awesome shop. Rich is an EXCELLENT mechanic. I have taken my F-350 to him many times before but just recently took a 2000 BMW for some repairs. What I love about Rich is, not just his knowledge on a multitude of vehicle types (diesel and gas motors), but it's his honesty that stands out the most. He will repair what you do need but he will also tell you what you DON'T need. His repairs are top notch and affordable. I was having an intermittent slow start problem. I talked to my regular mechanic in Cedar Park about it but he said he didn't work on diesel engine problems. He referred me to Rich. I called Rich and made an appointment for him to run some diagnostics and try to find the problem. I took it in and then waited to the bad news. Rich called and told me that he found a loose wiring connection. He cleaned up the connection, reattached and it worked perfectly! Rich Mannix fixed my car when neither A-1 Auto Repair nor Mac Haik Ford could. And he did it at a very reasonable price. A-1 had my car first but couldn't fix it. They gave up and sent it to the Ford Dealer. I got it back in worse shape than when I brought it in. A friend told me to try Rich Mannix, I was reluctant, but gave him a shot. Best move ever. Rich left other auto repair shops because they rip customers off with very high prices and repairs that aren't needed. He's one of the few mechanics in the area that is honest and can be trusted. I have been a follower or Rich (owner) for years. Now that he has his own shop the superior level of service that you receive has gotten even better. I can't recommend his shop high enough. If you need something done, have it done right. Have it done at Mannix Automotive. Recently I had taken my F150 with a check engine light on that kept failing inspection. Other shops wanted to charge $$$$$$ to fix a problem. I took it to Rich, he checked it and found out it was just an O2 sensor and an easy fix. Saved me lots of money and a LOT of time. Rich is always very reliable and honest. It's rare to find a mechanic you can trust. I brought a vehicle to him, that I was was told had a lot wrong with it from another mechanic.
