Carl and the Mannino Heating and Cooling team have been my go to HVAC company for 20 years. They have installed and serviced many commercial and residential systems across several properties for me in that time. Carl is a hard worker who does honest work at a fair price and I can't recommend him and his company enough. Thanks Carl! read more

Amazing, honest, friendly, and great communication! When my central a/c stopped working in 2019, I contacted the company that originally installed it. There was no coolant so it appeared to have a leak. I was told they "might" be able to repair it or get a new unit for $9k. Neither was affordable at the time, so I have been without central air since then. Thinking I needed a new unit, I contacted two companies for estimates. First company never asked the reason for a new unit but gave me three estimate options. Carl (owner of Mannino) came out to give me an estimate. He immediately looked at the unit and said it wasn't that old and I shouldn't need a new one. He did not have on hand what was need to test for a leak so that was scheduled for another day. David was scheduled to come out on a Friday. He arrived on time and immediately got to work. Very thorough, friendly, and explained things as he went. What did we discover? There was no noticeable leak! David contacted Carl and they determined it was best to leave it through the weekend, return on Monday for another pressure test and see if there was a different result. David arrived Monday as scheduled. Everything appeared to still be holding. If there is a leak, it is SUPER slow. David added the necessary coolant, turned on the unit, tested the temp, let it run, and tested again. All seems to be working fine! They will come back in a few months to check how it's holding Do I recommend this company? 1000% They could have tried to sell me a new unit but instead they were honest and fair. Total cost was significantly less than the original company quoted me for a "might" repair!! Thank you Carl and David!! read more

Called Carl at Mannino Heating & Cooling Friday Morning. Explained to him what I was hearing when I tried to get my Furnace to heat up. He told me he remembered me from a prior Call years ago (A rental property of mine) and he'd see if he could get a Furnace Technician over in the afternoon. Low & Behold a Tech was in my area and he came over diagnosed my problem and had it working in about 1/2 hour. Awesome service/Diagnosis/Fix THANKS DAVE/CARL read more

I can't believe that I haven't reviewed before! Carl had been servicing our old dinosaur AC system for a few years now. Let's face it...a brand new system can be really expensive and Carl worked with us to help squeeze as much life out of it as we possibly could until it choked out its last breath. He got us a great deal on a new AC system that works perfectly at a great price. He's a good, honest, decent guy...which is probably one of the highest compliments you can give nowadays. Carl came by my home and did an assessment of what needed to be done and how I could have A/C installed. He researched and found an A/C appropriate for my home that wouls fit my budget. He showed up on time and answered all of my questions. I told him I needed to finance so he said that they were going to have financing available in the next month after. Once financing was available, Carl was great about calling or texting me back to answer any questions I had. If he didn't get back to me right away, he apologized when we did connect. Benita, the office manager is awesome too! Long story short, finance approved, A/C installed only a week later... what perfect timing too! My husband and I would be boiling in the home! Thanks Carl and Benita! The a/c is awesome! read more

Carl is fantastic. He did an AC addition to our existing central heating and I cannot recommend him enough. Throughout the process he stayed in close touch despite the heatwave and no doubt a bunch of service calls. He worked very carefully and made sure we had AC working before he left despite some issues the thermostat I had purchased. At every point along the way when I had questions, he took the time to explain what was happening and choices I could make. It was truly 5-star service- I highly recommend working with Carl! read more

My wife and I used Mannino H &C once before to install a Nest thermostat and a few maintenance items. After hours on Friday I called and left a message for Carl that our air conditioner had stopped producing cold air. Early on Saturday he called back to say he would try and fit us in his schedule for that day. Luckily he found the time and with a few parts he had available on his truck got our system functioning again. We truly appreciated his extra effort. And it was just in time; another heat wave is on the horizon! read more

I live in Lake San Marcos, called in on the hottest day of the summer (so far) because my AC wasn't working (I haven't used it in years, but I have a dog now). Carl answered and told me that today is the busiest day, so he couldn't come out (very politely), but he would call me first thing in the morning to set something up the next day, which he did and I respect that. Came around 2:30pm next day, took apart the AC to make sure nothing looks out of the ordinary. Find out there was no power going to the AC unit, circuit breaker had to get reset. Also, he did something else but I forgot. Made sure with a temperature gauge that the right intake/outtake was happening at the AC unit. Gave me some recommendations, but everything seems to be working :) Also, did me the favor by checking on my dog and made sure she's eating. Couldn't be happier, hence the 5 stars. Took him about 1 and 1/4 hrs, which costed $150 (I thought it was a $85 trip charge, then let me know if any work needs to be done, only thing that I kinda didn't like). I would hire again for the next job, just ask how much per hour he charges to fix/install the unit up front. read more

He might mean well, but he never shows up. waited almost 2 weeks promises promises, never a show. Very disappointed. Called Precision Heating and they booked me same day of call. Kudo's to Precision from Encinitas. Boo to Carl. read more

Best experience, the owner answered the phone when I called, sent a great installer of my air condition. Sam was sooo very nice and respectful. The price was good with no unexpected costs. Thank you read more

Very impressed! Carl did a wonderful job fixing our a/c quickly and trying to fit us in on a moments notice Labor Day weekend, hottest weekend of 2020! Very nice and fairly priced, he'll be the one I call from now on!! read more

Definitely use Carl for your HVAC needs. Mannino was the cheapest quote I received for central AC install by over $1000. The job took longer than expected due to having to unexpectedly relocate some of the original equipment, but they stayed into the evening and finished the job the same day. Couldn't be happier with the price and service. read more

Made two different appointments to fix the AC unit in our shop. It wasn't working right so my employees were very uncomfortable. The first appointment Carl could only stay a few minutes, couldn't find the problem and said he would come back in 1-2 days. After three days and no return, employees still cooking, I called and reminded him that he said he would come back to fix it. He comes in a couple days later, then says he doesn't have the time to stay and fix it. I remind him about the two appointments I've made and how my employees are suffering in the heat over these several days he says he would fix it. Then he says he's going to send me invoices for the visits, even though nothing was done. If he was too busy he should have not made the appointments. Plus he's got a lot to learn about how to treat customers. read more

We were in a real time pinch and needed an HVAC estimate asap in order to remove contingencies on our prospective new home. Two other HVAC companies had already not shown up as scheduled. Carl promised to squeeze us in and showed up later in the day. He gave us a written quote by the next morning. We bought the house and called to get the work done. The workers were professional and friendly. They cleaned up after both days of work and Carl, the owner, returned to make sure everything was done correctly. We discovered an additional problem with the air conditioning unit and Carl stayed for over an hour to fix it--at no charge. Carl obviously takes great pride in his reputation and work. Both his workers had only positive things to say about working for Carl and the company. read more

Carl installed a new Heating/AC system in my San Diego home in June 2019. The replacement was complex and required equipment with precise measurements in order to fit plus electrical and piping reconfigurations since the former system is no longer manufactured. Carl and his team did an excellent job in a short time frame with very fair pricing. Would definitely recommend this company. read more

Wow, impressive! About 5 years ago I had a huge amount of HVAC work done on my second story by another company and was very disappointed. I was lead to believe that 100+ temperatures were normal upstairs! I had a new unit and some efficiency work done by Carl and his team and now I can happily say that it gets really cold upstairs! Not only was the work seriously high quality, but the price was less than I paid for total crap! Plus, Carl is very nice, honest, and trustworthy. I highly recommend Maninno Heating and Cooling. read more

My AC unit broke during a heat wave on a Friday evening. I called Mannino Heating & Cooling at 8am the next morning and Carl was able to come out on the same day. He was able to quickly identify and correct the problem, while explaining the things that every home owner should know to properly maintain their HVAC systems. He was also happy to answer some general questions I had about filters, ducts and thermostats. Pricing was fair. Carl was honest and professional. Overall great service. Highly recommend. read more

Found Mannino on Yelp whike searching for a company to maintenance my rental unit. I spoke to Carl to set up an appointment and was very flexible working with not only my work schedule but my tenants as well, especially in June when its prime business for installations and repairs! Sam arrived to my unit and did a thorough inspection of everything and advised what all needed to be done but would have to reschedule for another day because he didn't have all necessary supplies with him? The next day Carl himself serviced my unit and was done within 45min. Carl lowered the total due to unavailability of some items Sam didnt have with him on day one. Both gentlemen were professional, friendly, and explained in detail and showed exactly what they were doing and why. They made this veey smooth and eased my mind of having cooling issues in the middle of summer. Great business! read more

Awesome experience. A/C broke yesterday so I called and left a message which was promptly returned this morning by the owner. Carl was here by noon and was able to immediately identify the problem and fix it for a fraction of what I thought I was going to have to pay. Most A/C guys will immediately try to convince you to buy a new system but Carl was actually the opposite and left me with the confidence of knowing that my 20+ year old system actually still has plenty of good years ahead of it. He was prompt, professional and an honest shooter. He now has another loyal customer! read more

We were having issues with our furnace. Called Mannino after reading yelp reviews. Carl worked around my schedule and even showed up on weekend. He worked with me to diagnose and resolve the issue. Seemed honest about what might be the problem and didn't try to sell anything extra. Cost was quite reasonable. read more

The company is run by a trustworthy and hardworking man! It's a Saturday two days before Christmas. I called Mannino this morning because our heater was not working days before our house would be filled with guests. I have never used them before. The owner himself squeezed us into his schedule and showed up that afternoon after he had made his other calls. And worked for 2 hours to help us fix our heater instead of telling us to buy a new heater, he ran his diagnostics and went above and beyond to rule out other reasons why it wasn't working and saved us the bill of a new heating unit. All with a happy spirit. A Christmas miracle, he is now our go to cooling and heating company. Thank you Carl! read more

This company install my HVAC system two years ago. He had the best bid and offer to do the job. He's good when you can get them to come over. From the start he is very difficult to contact have to keep calling him every day and maybe a few days to a week or no return calls. So, my two year old air conditioner didn't want to put out cold air at the start of this season. In my mind always call back the company that installed it, they know the system best. Also in customer to busness repect I was able to contact Carl before going on a two week vacation. He tried to come over the next day but couldn't squees me in, okay I understand that. He told me they only offer one year labor warrenty, ouch. All other companys I called have two years. I told him I could wait until I come back from vacation. So when I got back home, I texted and called and went through the same phone run-a-round as I did two year agoe. With the 95+ comming I couldn't wait anymore. Made some calls I found a company that was willing to come over that same day. This company had a lot of 2017 and past 5 star ratings on yelp. Made the call. Excellant communication all the way to repairing the unit all on the same day!. The problem was a leak at the TIV. This caused ALL of the refrigerant to leak out. He tightened the fittings and refilled the unit with 10 lbs of 410a, the price per pound is $$$$. He was here for two hours and also checked out the whole system, great. He did a 300 lbs nitrogen pressure check, fixed leak, pump down the system, and recharged. HVAC now working as it should be. One other thing....Carl didn't check the new install or call me, (LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD) a few months after the initial install to see on how the new system was running , if the leak was there at that time he might have been able to save me some bucks maybe detecting the leak if it was there at that time. Last season of hot weather the system didn't seem to run as efficient as the previous year......I don't have preasure gauges. I am just saying whar if? The bottom line is, pour business practice. . read more

Carl and his crew installed a new furnace for us yesterday. I can't say enough about how thorough, polite, knowledgeable, and efficient this company is. They went above and beyond in every way. All phone calls were returned right away. They were on time and wasted not one second in getting to work. In a few short hours they were done and left their work space clean and neat. Most of all, it didn't matter whether we were speaking to a crew member or to the owner himself...we were treated with respect and courtesy every step of the way. I highly recommend Mannino Heating and Cooling and will never go anywhere else for my own heating and cooling needs. This is a company you can trust. read more

I was referred by a contractor who i've used before and got great service. I highly recommend Mannino Heating & Cooling. I was traveling and came home to a hot house/hot weekend...not good for the family. While Carl wasn't able to come out as it was Friday late afternoon...he walked me through the diagnosis and got me back up and running that night. I communicated w/Carl through out the weekend to get a permanent fix, even while Carl was out at an event on Sat evening. There is one more step that i need to do to enable a back up....i tried but it didn't work, i'm going to try again but if it doesn't work, i know Carl will take care of me. read more

We needed to have AC installed in a home we recently bought. A friend highly recommended Mannino heating and cooling so we went with them. I can't say enough about how pleased we were! From the time Fred came by to go through and give us an estimate until the job was complete, the service went above and beyond our expectations. We were told it would be a challenge...but they met that challenge and our home is now cool and comfortable. This is a small company so you get that extra attention to detail. Thank you Carl, Fred, Greg, Garett and Garett..yes, two Garett's:) Rocky and Honey thank you too....no more panting . We highly recommend Mannino Heating and Cooling. read more

I called this company on Saturday and was told someone would call me on Monday to make an appointment. No one called. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I knew it was a busy time and things happen, so I called them again. Was happy when someone answered and setup an appointment for 2:00 the following day. They showed up three hours late without calling, but they still showed up and we now have air. Yippee! read more

Carl Mannino has done work for me at three different properties for the past six years. The first time I met him was when I was in the middle of a horrendous remodel during a divorce! Carl evaluated and repaired and updated many issues for me and always with an honest effort and very fair price range! I couldn't recommend a person more highly! He currently does all my maintenance and I can rest assured that it is done right the first time. You won't be sorry if you hire Carlito!! read more

We have an older home and the HVAC stopped working about eight years ago. Two companies came out and told us the old unit couldn't be fixed because parts were no longer available. A third company came and gave us an outrageous quote for a new system. After using space heaters and sweaters to stay warm for years, someone we know went to work for Mannino and offered to come look at our system again. It was quoted one day and fixed the next - all it needed was fuses and a capacitor and now we have heat! The technician, Fred, was fantastic, punctual and friendly and efficient. When we're ready to buy a new system, this is the place we will call! read more

I live near the beach and had several high high quotes for AC in the past and had pretty much decided that I was destined to live without AC. Until I met Carl Mannino. I put that poor guy through the wringer. I asked him to quote many many different options only to settle in on the cheapest and I was to have another (flakey solar) contractor provide the power. When that didn't happen, Carl, just kept on plugging. The AC was one of four project that I undertook at the same time and the only one that was done early and under budget. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. read more

My AC went out during a heat wave. I called and left messages in vain at many repair places. Got through to a few but they were scheduling one to two weeks out. I luckily found Mannino Heating & Cooling on the internet and left a message. Mr. Mannino called back the same day! and came out and fixed it the next day!!! How cool is that? For a very fair price. He's got a customer for life. Call him first! read more

I called Mannino Heating & Cooling after getting a quote for some duct work from "the white glove guys" that I thought seemed way too high. I talked through the scope of work with Carl on the phone and he gave a quote that was about half that of the quote I had. He basically itemized the quote for me so I knew exactly the breakdown of what I was paying for (the white glove guys just gave me a number with no explanation of how they got to it). This was on a Friday afternoon that we spoke, I told him I wanted to get the work done as soon as possible; he was at my house to do the work Monday morning. As we had discussed on the phone, he said he would tell me before he started if he expected the cost to be any higher than what he had quoted me once he saw the job with his own eyes. Once he saw it, he did say it was going to cost a little more that the original phone quote. He explained exactly why, and it was consistent with what the "white glove guys" had told me, so I believed him. To be clear, I have been upsold many a time and this was not upselling; it was a legitimate increase (likely because I did not describe the job in enough detail on the phone). We agreed on a new price, which was still only slightly more than half of the other quote, so we agreed and he went ahead and did the work. He and his partner worked hard to get the job done relatively quickly. Even still, it took longer than he expected, but he did not charge me the extra labor cost because he wanted to honor the price that he had quoted and that we had agreed on before he started. I really appreciated this; you don't see it often in my experience. After they had finished and left, we noticed that the furnace was malfunctioning. After unsuccessfully trying to troubleshoot it over the phone with me, he drove back to my house that evening and spent another 1-1.5 hrs troubleshooting and fixing the problem. Even though it wasn't really clear whether the problem was related to the work they had done that day or not, he did not charge me for the extra time to fix it. So at this point, he's worked probably an extra 2.5 hrs, and driven to my house twice, with no extra charges because he wanted to honor the price he quoted me and make sure the job done right. Throughout the entire process, I appreciated that Carl took the time to explain everything to me in laymen's terms, and was also very diligent (triple-checking) that the furnace was now functioning correctly. Based on what I've seen so far, it seems like it was a job well done. I highly recommend Carl Mannino and Mannino Heating and Cooling. His prices are very reasonable (sayonara, white glove guys), and I appreciate the way he want about this job from beginning to end. As a homeowner, you deal with a lot of contractors, and I wish they were all like Carl. read more
