I came here for my customary post marathon steak when I was in town to run the Sydney Marathon. They did not open until 12 pm for lunch. I was seated outside with a nice view of Manly Beach and the ocean. After looking over their menu, I ordered the 200g Gippsland Eye Fillet steak cooked medium rare with chargrilled broccolini and added 3 chili garlic prawns. The steak was well prepared as were the prawns and vegetables. The food and service was excellent, but this was the only location during my trip where I was asked for gratuity which I've read was not customary in Australia. I guess that's what happens when you go to a touristy spot. read more

Good value lunch specials! The Mister and I stopped by on our day trip to Manly - they were advertising some nice lunch specials. The interior is clubby and comfortable but we opted to enjoy the views from the terrace. I had a very tasty (and large) burger and the Nister had fish and chips. MANLEY GRILL. LUNCH. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15 Just about a half block to the right, along the beach from the pedestrian street leading from the ferry. We came upon this place and our decision to stay was solely based upon who had an open table out of the sun but not hidden indoors. Ah, the scientific method of the hungry traveler. We were happy with our decision. Menu ran the gamete from burgers to full meals. Since we were looking at the beach we almost had to choose Fish and Chips. Never had a choice for F&C before, Barimundi or Flat Head. I've found Barimundi to be more fishy for my taste. Despite it costing more than the Flat Head we both chose the Flat Head. Different presentation from New England, apparently different cut of fish. Three finger-like portions of expertly battered and fried fish with a side of fries (chips). Very good. Had to ask for ketchup, a necessity for Americans. Had two fine Australian beers with our meal and returned to the beach quite satisfied. read more

Great causal spot to people watch as you eat delicious food. Came here for lunch after strolling the beach. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. I had the amazingly delicious chickpea and pumpkin burger which was topped with tomato relish, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and served with a side of fries and coleslaw. The burger was perfectly crispy outside while maintaining a soft and flavorful center and the fries were perfectly crisp and the coleslaw was very good as well. My boss had the crocodile burger which he loved. He's been here more than once and it's his go to plate. If you want a casual place to people watch, relax, and eat good food this is definitely your spot. read more

We had read some positive reviews about Manly Grill Seafood & Steakhouse online, but it was not until the last day we arrived at Manly beach, that we decided to check them out for lunch. Both of us ordered the 'Crocodile burger' with side of fries and onion rings. When we got our burgers, they were steaming hot. The way they were wrapped ensured they stayed nice and hot until the very last bite - which we both loved! The double cheese and bacon added a whole lot of extra flavour to the delicious burger. The addition of onion rings was a smart choice. They were nice and big, and gave a different taste to the burger. The lettuce, tomato and onion accompanied by the trucker sauce all tied into the burger well. Their fries had visible seasoning and were also lovely and hot. It is very easily accessible with beautiful view and beach sidewalk which is always a plus. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic which was pleasant. We were seated straightaway without a reservation, on the Monday of a long weekend. The food was yummy - stand outs for me included the pork ribs and the fried calamari entree. It was pretty busy despite being a weeknight, but far from being full. As we sat there, I noticed a lot of people walking past and having a look at the menu. Waited 45 minutes for a Caesar salad and half serving of ribs. Customers that got there after us were already fed and leaving before we even got our meal. I must say though the food was pretty great although a little overpriced on the ribs. The salad was all round pretty good but I did not like the sourdough croutons as they were massive slices of sourdough that had been toasted for way too long and tasted more stale then toasted. Love this place, their cocktails are bomb, great ambience, tried the Kangaroo meat...a little tough but good flavor.

I lurked around the front of this place on a hot day determined to snipe one of their outdoor tables. It took a while but I got one and within a few minutes I was wondering why on earth I'd opted to sit outside. Its a beautiful outdoor dining area smack on the beach but they have a glass ceiling and no fans so its effectively a greenhouse and you get a bit cooked on hot days! Luckily our waiter came out with some table water pretty quick. They also have a decent beer selection but probably better to stick to their bottled beer. The on tap pale ale was great but the fancy glass looked like it held less than a middy so for $7.50 I'd probably pick another option next time. Being right on the beach the people watching is first class and off sets being cooked in the greenhouse. It is a little pricey but then I doubt you'd get fish and chips for much less than $25 anywhere along that stretch so you can't really complain there. The only downside was that the oysters kilpatrick were well and truly drowning in bbq and worcestershire sauce but once I tipped some of it out they were quite good. There's nothing worse than bad food being overpriced and I think if you're going to go to Manly and want to sit right on the beach you're going to pay top dollar no matter where you go. Might as well go here and at least get good overpriced food. read more

We've always enjoyed the baby barramundi prepared whole at this place (delish!!) but this time the customer service floored us! My son (8 and quite a tall boy for his age) fell asleep at dinner. Great staff and service. A little pricey but good food. A group of 5 - 1 vegetarian who was pretty happy with the options and got a good feed (and also ate half the sweet potato chips - really yummy - off a couple of peoples plates). The rest of us had beef or pork ribs and one filet steak. Ribs and steak themselves were fantastic, and choice of sides were good. Only negative was that while the sauce was lovely, there was too much of it and after a couple of ribs the sweetness of the sauce was overpowering. Ended up scraping as much sauce as possible off which helped a bit. Definitely go back again - but I'd ask for no extra sauce added after the ribs were actually cooked. read more

Stumbled onto this place this afternoon on route back to the ferry. Place was crowded and I didn't feel like walking around the Rocks to find a decent place. Service was excellent in spite of them being busy. I'm adventurous so I had the Roo and Crock special (Kangaroo Steak and Crocodile Tail Filet) having had neither before. Was very impressed. Steak cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. Crocodile was moist. I'll admit I was hungry but I'm still not sure which i preferred more. I chose chips to accompany meats and it came with a small salad of green lightly dressed with what I believe was shaved asiago. Chips were a tad overdone but far from terrible. Decent selection of beer. I would return without doubt. read more

This is right on the beachfront street, sit outside for a nice view of the trees and beach. I had the croc burger, my wife got the ribs and chicken - was very expensive though. The ribs have an excellent barbecue sauce. The chicken comes with a spicy peri-peri sauce so be aware if you don't like spice. Overall, they were very tasty. Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Staff were polite but not at all efficient. Only a couple of tables occupied and plenty of wait staff. Unfortunately pancakes were so tough even a serrated knife couldn't cut through them, dry and tasteless. An order of toast with honey saw the toast come out first, 5 minutes later came the honey......then had to ask for butter, by then toast cold and dried out. Worst part was we didn't see $3 surcharge per person on the menu! Three of us only had a coffee - $7 each. Not recommended for breakfast. read more

awesome atmosphere and beautiful view looking over the water. our food came quickly and was great as well as reasonably priced. the big drawback is that both waitresses that helped us were unnecessarily rude and altogether unfriendly, it seemed like most of the wait staff didn't want to be there at all. they made our simple questions seem annoying and after our final interaction to pay the bill, we ultimately left the restaurant with a sour taste in our mouths. unfortunate as it truly could have been an amazing experience on a lovely day! read more
