    Fish and chips
    Lindsey O.

Fishmongers was delicious!!! The service was friendly and fairly quick even though they were very busy when I went for dinner on a Friday night. I got the battered hoki with chips and it was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned fish with a good batter, and two pretty large pieces. Good tartar sauce on the side. The chips were also really tasty and you got two kinds - some are like classic French fries, and some are hard sweet potato chips. It was nice to have both. Would definitely recommend and return!

Didn't know what to expect just heard from friends this place was unreal. And it truly IS!!!! We ordered the sharing box for 2 -4 fish filet, 4 calamari, 2 prawns , 2 oysters sweet potato chips thinly sliced and tartar and sweet Chili sauce Let the phots speak for themselves!!!! Best fresh seafood on Bondi Beach!!!!!

The best seafood! I dream about this meal. I shared the seafood platter for two which was an amazing deal! Fried fish, grilled fish, two oysters, prawns and tempura veggies, salad - basic but was a healthy break and large side of fries (we sub out the calamari) The food could not be more fresh. The grilled fish was flavorful and brought out the natural flavors. The fried items were not too oily. The platter is plenty for two. The amount of fries is a lot we did not even touch them as we made the seafood a priority. The only area of improvement would be the service but the food is on point.

    Flathead, chips and corn

Been a regular since it opened. The first restaurant I came to after the jet lag settled. Craving some local, fresh seafood. As usual I opted for one of the daily board options as it's never disappointed. The choice was ahi tuna, chili basil salmon and lemon pepper flathead. I chose the flathead with their award winning hand cut chips, garlic aioli and corn. The fish was today's catch and was exquisite. It's a delicious fish that needs little seasoning so the lemon pepper was done perfectly. My fave chips and corn were great too. On top if it all the staff are lovely and accommodating. Didn't even have room for Messina.

It's very clear why this place is top dog for Bondi fish and chips. A cut above a greasy chippie, this place rocks an awesome selection of fresh fish, prawns, squid and specials with an equally nice range of sides from salads and steamed vegies to good old chips. Only these chips are nothing like ones I've ever had from a fish & chip shop. As a group we ordered a massive share bowl of them and despite it being a chip mountain, pretty much got through the whole thing. Oh and I also ordered my fish with chips... judge away if you must. Perfect option for a beachside treat be it a healthy one or some gourmet fast food.

Fish Mongers is the more classy fish n chips joint around Bondi. If your looking for a good feed that feel more like fine dining. We chose the Monger box which comes with 2 pieces of beer battered fish, 6 pieces of Calamari rings, crispy sweet potato chips as well as hand cut chips. This is a lot of food and perfect for sharing. The food is accompanied by tartar sauce. We were feeling hungry so opted to go with an extra dish. Chose the fish taco. This was crispy fish with salsa sauce , crunchy coleslaw, mayo and fried leeks. This dish is something special and a great to accompany fish and chips. This place is great . Service is fast and the food presentation is superb. The staff are smiling and happy to chat about anything you want to know regarding menu options. My favourite fish and chips joint in Bondi.

Up the hill from the main drag. Counter service was quick and the portions great for the money. No Beer or Wine. My fried prawns were good but the delicate batter refused to stick to the shrimp. Chips were nice. Definitely worth the walk up the hill.

If you're looking for the best fish and chips with a beautiful view of the beach, this is the place! We came here from L.A, after reading excellent reviews and recommendations from buzzfeed &Yelp. We ordered fish & calamari. It was delicious. My husband said it was the best he had ever had! Staff was friendly as well!

If you're going to do fish and chips in Bondi then this is the only place to go. You see, the thing that makes Bondi so special is that its a casual mix of super relaxed and uber trendy. So when its comes to fish and chips - shouldn't it be the same? Mongers makes superb fresh fish. Its yummy! There's not that much place to sit and it can be a bit stuff when it gets busy (which it does) so i suggest getting takeaways. "Fish to go" come in these cute takeaway boxes that feel like a little present you can take home or ideally to Bondi Beach. Prices range between $10 - $20. I recommend the grilled Trout or Salmon (i can never remember) with salad.... The salad comes with a yummy pesto dressing a bbq'd corn on the cob. Healthy, yummy, worth it :)

Feel like a familiar cardboard box full of fish 'n' chips without the post-meal guilt? Head for Fishmonger's, where you won't feel like a tool for requesting a side of salad instead of grease-soaked, fried potato bits. Their regular menu is your basic build-your-own-meal type situation; choose battered or grilled fish, calamari or prawns and pair it with one of rice and steamed bok choy, salad and grilled corn on the cob, or tempura veggies. A special of coconut-chilli flat head on a recent visit was a delicious change from my usual salt-and-pepper squid order - the fragrant marinade had infused the fish flesh, and the accompanying Asian-style salad with coriander and bean shoots was given extra crunch with a side of crispy kumara slices. Best of all, it's BYO, but an even better option is to take your goods down to North Bondi and watch the summer sun set whilst dining on the beachside lawn.

Catering to a health conscious community who do not put their taste buds on hold, Mongers knows just how we like it. They are fish and chips with a little class. All their dishes come with a nice side-salad and are dressed with fresh herbs and dressings. I love their BBQ baby octopus or their oysters. I recommend you take the meal to go, enjoy it down by the fresh air of the beach or take it home on a chilly day. It tends to get pretty packed, which is a good sign, but at the same time makes for a bit of a tight place to enjoy a meal. Whenever I walk past there are always people chatting outside with their dogs and their kids, waiting to get a take-away meal to enjoy at home. It's healthy and tastes great so you can enjoy without the guilt. Plus it comes in a cute little box that Thai food comes in sometimes.

We shared the sashimi appetizer, which was very fresh and tasty. The pieces were not particularly large, so don't expect it to fill you up. My niece had fish and chips, and really enjoyed it. For my main, I had the barramundi and chose the miso butter with it. The barramundi is described on the menu as "200g," which comes to more than 7 ounces. Cooked, it felt like a small portion, particularly because the plate didn't come with much else. Judged by the food and ambiance, I'd give this four stars. What soured the meal for us was our experience at the end with the waiter. My niece had spent the semester abroad in Australia and I was visiting her. She had explained to me that tipping was not a usual thing in Australia. I also learned that from my hotel desk clerk when I asked how I would change some currency for tips (e.g., for the chambermaid etc.). The desk clerk told me outright that people didn't tip in Australia. So when the check came at North Bondi, I was surprised to see options on the credit card machine for 10%, 15%, and 20% gratuity, although there was also an option for no tip. Puzzled, I turned to my niece, who picked "no tip." After that, the waiter questioned us, asking if we had had a problem with the meal or the service (which is entirely what I would have expected from a NY waiter who had been stiffed on a tip, but not what I expected in Australia). Then he practically threw the receipt on the table. Maybe North Bondi Fish gets a lot of American tourists who tip as if they were back home. (And I definitely would have tipped in the U.S. -- service was totally fine.) Under the circumstances, the waiter's attitude at the end was an unpleasant surprise. (And as a result, I ended up tipping 5% at every restaurant in Australia thereafter.)
