    Half rack of pork ribs
    Rachel S.

I've been wanting to try Hurricanes for over a year now, since I lived in Pyrmont and would walk by Darling Harbour and smell those delicious ribs. Never made it to the Darling Harbour one but when my friend suggested Hurricanes for dinner on Saturday, how could I say no? We booked for 730 and got there about 15 minutes early. There was already a group of hungry patrons waiting for a table, but we surprisingly got seated straight away. It was a few minutes before anyone had come to our table. The waitress came and apologized for the wait and took our drink order. The cocktail menu looked awesome but I went with an old favorite - the mojito. My friend got a red wine and we ordered our food. I got the half rack of pork ribs with chips, per the waitress' recommendation and my friend got the full rack. She asked if we wanted bread while we ate, and as I was a bit hungry and tipsy, I said sure. A nice loaf of warn wheat bread came out with butter, which was nice but considering how much food was coming, probably could have done without it. The ribs came out in like 10 minutes and it was massive. We asked for bibs cause we knew it would get messy. I had the half and it was huge. Each bite was delicious, juicy and the sauce was just yummy. The chips were really nice, some were drenched in the sauce which made it even more delicious. I killed my half and my friend killed the full. Soo good, lived up to the hype. Great customer service to boo!

4.5 Stars! The ribs are really good, one of the best I've had. Came here twice during my 3 weeks stay in Sydney. Made reservations prior so the wait did not take too long. The ribs were juicy and tender. The second time around, it was a bit burnt, but still good. Looking forward to visit this place again once I'm in Sydney later in April =)

    Calamari to start

Hurricanes is pretty famous and with fame comes big expectations. People go to Hurricanes for the Ribs. If you want a meal to satisfy you this is the place to go. Get the bibs out and dig into the ribs with the famous BBQ sauce. The ribs come in an option of Lamb , Pork or Beef. They are all winners but the Beef is the best. I opted for the ribs previously and loved them but this time I wanted to try something a little different. So I ordered Calamari as entree and warm Sea food salad and a New York steak as the main. The Calamari was tasty with a nice sour cream sauce and lemon for added flavour. The calamari went well with the complementary brown bread. The New York steak was done medium well and accompanied by a mushroom sauce. The steak was juicy and tender. The Warm Seafood Salad was from the specials page and something different from the traditional menu. The salad contained Calamari, Octopus, scallops , prawns with beautiful balsamic vinegar and hints of citrus. The salad was full of peppers , tomatoes and olives. The serving size was more then generous and would definitely recommend this for seafood fans. Hurricanes is a great treat on a special occasion. Staff are friendly and service is good.

Takeaway Mediterranean grilled chicken breast salad

I dine in quite regularly at hurricanes especially when I am very hungry and need a tasty protein hit. I love the ribs, steaks, cocktails and wine however I would like to review the takeaway option which is equally good! I've ordered the Mediterranean chicken breast salad and ribs on a number of occasions. Best way to go is to call beforehand and they make it within 20 minutes. The salad has these special candied walnuts that add a nice sweetness and texture to the salad. They've never gotten my order wrong and still serve full generous portions. There is a new delivery service now which charges an extra 5 or 10 dollars depending where you live. Their secret sauce is probably the best kept secret in Sydney!

Hurricane's Grill at Bondi Beach has a meal called the Goliath T-Bone a 1 Kg steak, yes 1 Kg, that is disgusting, talk about encouraging obesity. I was pretty disappointed with the food at Hurricane's, I felt like I was getting one of those $10 pub lunch specials, but paying three times the price. I am not an amazing cook by any means, but I could have cooked the meal they served me with very little effort and for a fraction of the price. So what is it we're paying for? Is it the location because there are other Bondi venues with the same locale advantage serving amazing food for the same price or less. I just felt a bit ripped off. I wouldn't have minded dessert, but $14.50 for sticky date pudding???? You must be joking, called into a café up the street.

This restaurant is huge, which isn't surprising that it is incredibly busy all the time, and the meals are huge, and the bill may also have elephantiasis syndrome. Chops, burgers, ribs, rumps, or breasts, from the land or the sea, if it can be cooked on an open flame, mixed with delicious sides, or served on humungous plates, then they'll serve it. First tip here, book in advance if you have a large group. Second tip, if you're after some take away, separately next door is their take away store. Third tip, the kids burger at the take away, is exactly the same as the regular burger, but half the price. If you're going for the full ribs, then come prepared with stretchy jeans. Sometimes the service can be slow, and the wait staff are usually travellers, so there's a lot of burn and churn. Don't try and remember their name for next time, as they probably won't be there. I can't say the food is the absolute best I've ever had, the ribs are usually good, but can sometimes be smothered a bit too much in sauces. I haven't had a bad experience with the burgers, and the salads look quiet good as well.

People probably not aware of this place cause its only open from 12pm on fridays & Saturdays and every other day is open fron 5pm. Was here at the restaurant for a mother's day dinner with the family to beat the hustle & bustle rush of the real mothers day tomorrow :)!! We ordered a mixed entrée with, ribs off the bone, tasty pork belly with a creamy slaw topping, king prawns with a crumbed cheese coating, haloumi cheese, salad with 2 dipping sauces (garlic & tzatziki). For dinner majority had fillet mignone with chips salad and dipping sauce of your choice, i had a oven roasted duck with a tasty salad and mum had the braised beef cheek which tasted a bit over cooked and dry byt all the other maibs were very nice :)!! For dessert 2 people had the mango creme Bruleé which was outstanding, my sister had a perfection sticky date pudding which is never served big enough to satisfy your needs lol & i had a freesh fruit & Cheese platter with a peppermint tea.. the perfect tasty end to a nice dinner night out with the family :)!! Really enjoyed dining at this place.. been here about 4 times now and would recommend it to anyone i know .. and must mention again that while waiting for your food to come out and if you weren't conversing it was really nice to stare around the restaurant & study all the fire house memorabilia they had to offer :)

Well, today we're checking out Bistecca... a steakhouse speakeasy of sorts! Here's how it went and why it was rated #45 of the top 101 steakhouses in the entire world... Atmosphere/Appearance: Deep in downtown Sydney hidden in an alleyway in the entrance to this literal hidden gem. Lol. Once through the door and down the stairs you're taken to a very dark dimly lit, but very old-school looking tavern. It's a small room, but essentially a waiting room/cocktail lounge for you. Once it's your turn to head into the dining room the door open to the brightly lit room, your phones are locked away in a drawer which you have access to via a key and you're guided to your seat! I LOVED this experience because now you're forced to just live and be in the moment. The kitchen is wide open and you can see everything that's happening. The tables and chairs are scattered throughout the room and you just, BE. Like the good 'ol days before smart phones. Service: I can't remember the name of our server, but he was excellent. We had no issues at all. Food: The menu is extremely simple. You're here for steak. That's it. The steak is sold in 100g increments. So you order by weight. We ordered 900g and the steak was so incredible we both wish we could've gone to maybe 1.2kg. Lol. That's a LOT of steak still, but this does include the weight of the bone. The feature is a large, T-bone steak cut from Australian-grown Chianina cattle and grilled over charcoal. It's recommended to be cooked medium-rare. It seriously was Heavenly. I don't even remember what sides we got. That's how good this steak was. Lol. Value: The steak is $19 AUD ($11.84 USD) per 100 grams (3.5 oz). The conversion can trip you up, so for example, the ORIGINAL steakhouse in NYC (Delmonico's) sells their 18 oz. T-Bone for $76.00 USD. The same size steak here would cost you around $65.00 and it's the #45 best steakhouse in the world. Delmonico's is not even on that list. Do what you wish with that information. Lol. The sides were appropriately priced. In conclusion, I LOVED this place and so did my wife. We still think about Bistecca years after we've been there and it's 100% worth making some good reservations as far in advance as possible because this place is small and will always be packed!

Our group of four arrived on 14 August at 6:30 PM (TABLE ACCOUNT 2 - Id/Check 219771). Initially, we were greeted by the maître d', who was genuinely welcoming and friendly. He seated us and assured us a waitress would be right with us. That was the last bit of decent service we received from the main staff. We sat there for 10 full minutes being completely ignored. Finally, a man in a blue long-sleeve shirt casually walked past, glanced at our table, and tried to actively pretend we didn't exist. We managed to catch his attention to ask for service, only to be met with a look of pure displeasure and a dismissive, "Hold on." Frankly, we should have taken that as our cue to walk out right then and there, saving ourselves from the blatant white supremacy and racism that defined the rest of our night. This staff member was Max, the sommelier, and his behavior was absolutely repulsive. Even though we smiled and initiated friendliness, he treated us with hostile racism. He served us with zero emotion, no smile, and literally walked away in the middle of us trying to thank him for explaining the menu. We tried giving him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he was just having a bad day. However, we then watched him turn around and shower the surrounding tables, which exclusively seated Caucasian guests with his brightest smiles and warmest hospitality. He was also laughing away with his other Caucasian colleagues. The contrast was sickening. The disrespect escalated when we tried to order a bottle of wine. Max made a rude, condescending remark, snapping that if we couldn't finish the bottle, we wouldn't be allowed to take it home. When we asked for just a few minutes to consider our options, he just walked off on us. As paying guests, we were left wondering what we did wrong by supporting this restaurant, despite the fact that we speak perfect English and navigate the Western world with ease. No paying customer should ever be made to feel like a second-class citizen when expecting hospitality. During our meal we took a quick look at past Google reviews only to realise that this isn't an isolated incident, multiple other Asian guests have flagged this establishment for racism against Asians. This vile behavior is an ongoing pattern that the management team is clearly perfectly fine with. It is absolutely disgusting to face this level of discrimination today. The only saving grace of the entire evening was Paul, a Thai waiter, who took over our service. He was the most attentive, warm, and professional server we could have asked for, and he single-handedly saved the night from being an absolute demeaning disaster. It is a massive shame that the restaurant's reputation has to suffer because of a racist like Max, especially since our group was prepared to splurge on an expensive meal. While the food itself was decent, the service makes this place entirely worthless of any Michelin star accolades. If a Michelin mystery reviewer ever visits this establishment as an Asian, Max will single-handedly destroy Chophouse's reputation. Management needs to fix this immediately.
