Came here while in Sydney. Yummy steaks and potatoes. Asparagus was just a tiny portion. Got a bottle of wine. My husband enjoyed it, was not my favorite. It's down a little alley way off the street. Sat in the corner a little dark. But romantic

Hit-or-miss at every step of food & service. The Sydney Rock Oysters were a nice start. The Wagga Wagga Angus Eye Fillet was delicious! We ordered medium-rare and it was more on the rare side, but was tender and flavorful. The Grasslands Pasture-Fed Ribeye was a disappointment though - a little tough and under-seasoned. The pepper sauce was delicious but the béarnaise sauce was blander than any béarnaise from New York or Paris. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable, but she was also the ONLY waitstaff working the entire dinner service so everyone got little attention after their initial order. She had seating customers, taking orders, cutting bread, setting silverware, settling checks, and delivering wine. It took us an age to get our check after we finished our main courses (we skipped dessert because it took so long!). There are some gems here, but understaffing and inconsistency in quality left room for improvement.

Friendly and delicious! I like this place's humble atmosphere:) We enjoyed and celebrated out 10th anniversary.

Work booked out a private room at Kingsley's for us to enjoy ourselves after yet another busy period. FOOD The menu was set with a choice of two different mains and dessert. I think all the girls chose the Petite Fillet (160g) whilst all the guys chose the Rib-Eye (300g) bar my pregnant colleague who has the luxury of eating for two. To be honest the steaks weren't anything you couldn't get at another steakhouse. The dessert was a choice between the crème brulee or the pavlova. The initial crack through the caramel set off my sweet buds but by the middle of it I was getting impatient with how long my tea was taking as I wanted something a bit bitter to break up the sweetness. OVERALL I had an enjoyable night but more due to the private room and service rather than the food.

Pork belly starter. Perhaps the best pork belly I've had. Soft meat, crispy skin.

Our group of four arrived on 14 August at 6:30 PM (TABLE ACCOUNT 2 - Id/Check 219771). Initially, we were greeted by the maître d', who was genuinely welcoming and friendly. He seated us and assured us a waitress would be right with us. That was the last bit of decent service we received from the main staff. We sat there for 10 full minutes being completely ignored. Finally, a man in a blue long-sleeve shirt casually walked past, glanced at our table, and tried to actively pretend we didn't exist. We managed to catch his attention to ask for service, only to be met with a look of pure displeasure and a dismissive, "Hold on." Frankly, we should have taken that as our cue to walk out right then and there, saving ourselves from the blatant white supremacy and racism that defined the rest of our night. This staff member was Max, the sommelier, and his behavior was absolutely repulsive. Even though we smiled and initiated friendliness, he treated us with hostile racism. He served us with zero emotion, no smile, and literally walked away in the middle of us trying to thank him for explaining the menu. We tried giving him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he was just having a bad day. However, we then watched him turn around and shower the surrounding tables, which exclusively seated Caucasian guests with his brightest smiles and warmest hospitality. He was also laughing away with his other Caucasian colleagues. The contrast was sickening. The disrespect escalated when we tried to order a bottle of wine. Max made a rude, condescending remark, snapping that if we couldn't finish the bottle, we wouldn't be allowed to take it home. When we asked for just a few minutes to consider our options, he just walked off on us. As paying guests, we were left wondering what we did wrong by supporting this restaurant, despite the fact that we speak perfect English and navigate the Western world with ease. No paying customer should ever be made to feel like a second-class citizen when expecting hospitality. During our meal we took a quick look at past Google reviews only to realise that this isn't an isolated incident, multiple other Asian guests have flagged this establishment for racism against Asians. This vile behavior is an ongoing pattern that the management team is clearly perfectly fine with. It is absolutely disgusting to face this level of discrimination today. The only saving grace of the entire evening was Paul, a Thai waiter, who took over our service. He was the most attentive, warm, and professional server we could have asked for, and he single-handedly saved the night from being an absolute demeaning disaster. It is a massive shame that the restaurant's reputation has to suffer because of a racist like Max, especially since our group was prepared to splurge on an expensive meal. While the food itself was decent, the service makes this place entirely worthless of any Michelin star accolades. If a Michelin mystery reviewer ever visits this establishment as an Asian, Max will single-handedly destroy Chophouse's reputation. Management needs to fix this immediately.

Well, today we're checking out Bistecca... a steakhouse speakeasy of sorts! Here's how it went and why it was rated #45 of the top 101 steakhouses in the entire world... Atmosphere/Appearance: Deep in downtown Sydney hidden in an alleyway in the entrance to this literal hidden gem. Lol. Once through the door and down the stairs you're taken to a very dark dimly lit, but very old-school looking tavern. It's a small room, but essentially a waiting room/cocktail lounge for you. Once it's your turn to head into the dining room the door open to the brightly lit room, your phones are locked away in a drawer which you have access to via a key and you're guided to your seat! I LOVED this experience because now you're forced to just live and be in the moment. The kitchen is wide open and you can see everything that's happening. The tables and chairs are scattered throughout the room and you just, BE. Like the good 'ol days before smart phones. Service: I can't remember the name of our server, but he was excellent. We had no issues at all. Food: The menu is extremely simple. You're here for steak. That's it. The steak is sold in 100g increments. So you order by weight. We ordered 900g and the steak was so incredible we both wish we could've gone to maybe 1.2kg. Lol. That's a LOT of steak still, but this does include the weight of the bone. The feature is a large, T-bone steak cut from Australian-grown Chianina cattle and grilled over charcoal. It's recommended to be cooked medium-rare. It seriously was Heavenly. I don't even remember what sides we got. That's how good this steak was. Lol. Value: The steak is $19 AUD ($11.84 USD) per 100 grams (3.5 oz). The conversion can trip you up, so for example, the ORIGINAL steakhouse in NYC (Delmonico's) sells their 18 oz. T-Bone for $76.00 USD. The same size steak here would cost you around $65.00 and it's the #45 best steakhouse in the world. Delmonico's is not even on that list. Do what you wish with that information. Lol. The sides were appropriately priced. In conclusion, I LOVED this place and so did my wife. We still think about Bistecca years after we've been there and it's 100% worth making some good reservations as far in advance as possible because this place is small and will always be packed!

Service wasn't too bad overall but they really could have checked on us more often after they had delivered our food. The food was kind of mixed. A couple in the group had ordered steaks and they were bland and tough. I ordered the Kangaroo for the table and we got that medium rare. Super tender and while it could have used more seasoning, the sauce we got with it paired perfectly. For myself I got the burger and beef ribs combo. For me this is where things go down hill. The beef ribs were TOUGH, hard to bite through and get off of the bone. As for the burger it was pretty dry but luckily I had the sauce from the kangaroo to fix that. The locals we were with cautioned us that it's generally very lean and can be tough so we were a bit apprehensive despite wanting to give it a shot so we decided to get it as an appetizer for the table to share and order other mains (it wasn't offered as an app on the menu, but they were gracious enough to do this for us). It cane out a perfect medium rare and I honestly would have believed you if you told me it was beef. I expected a gamier flavor but it was very mild, perhaps a slight note of iron in the aftertaste, but actually very good. For my main I got a steak sandwich and unfortunately I wish I had just gotten the kangaroo as my main, because the steak sandwich was just okay. On a positive note the server did replace my wine after a fly decided to practice treading in it (it failed). We were sitting outside, so I definitely don't blame them that it happened and they replaced my whole glass despite the fact that I had already drank half of it, so I give them points for that. That said, if I did come back here it would only be for the kangaroo if I happened to be here with someone that had never had it before.

Inside has a more formal ambiance we appreciated, but outside - assuming no cruise ship in the way - is probably the way to go for views, as we requested an inside top floor table with a view and didn't get much of one; turns out not many tables inside with a view. Service was mostly good but oddly slow in a few spots, the wine list was on iPad, and our pomme puree (mashed potatoes) came quite late. Steak was very good. MB7+ tomahawk is a terrific presentation, perfectly cooked to your specification, and described in detail. If you want the very highest quality (MB9) unfortunately thay was not on the menu when we visited, but it was surprisingly difficult find higher than MB7 on the regular menu of any of their competitors so I digress...
