Chicken Pad Thai
Jessica C.

Awesome service! The lady was so sweet and helpful. Answered all of my questions. Crab wontons weren't what I expected (the Chinese food version I guess), but they were good. The wrapper was thicker, but it was filled with a lot of crab and cream cheese goodness. The sauce was sweet and sour. Pad Thai was 10/10. So flavorful, savory, nutty, just all around a great dish. Squeezed my lime over it and it was *chefs kiss*. Shrimp fried rice was also 10/10. The shrimp are big and juicy, get a good bit of them too! They also have what appeared to be a full bar. They have indoor seating with a few bar seats and plenty of outdoor seating. Restroom inside. Will definitely be back!

Boat noodle

The greatest hole in the wall spot! We walked by this small restaurant and had no idea there was Thai food in this area. It was pretty empty on a Sunday evening with maybe two tables occupied, but service was super nice and the decor is so cute! A great spot for an intimate date. I came back with two of my friends for dinner on Tuesday night and the owner recognized me from a few days prior haha. We were seated and served immediately - the owner is so sweet and food came out very quickly. We ordered the crying tiger salad, pad see ew, boat noodle, crispy pork belly with rice, and tom yum goong soup. The crying tiger salad was my favorite - thinly sliced beef on a bed of onions, lettuce, and tomato covered with a sweet and tangy flavorful fish sauce. SO good and we were given plenty of steak. The pad see ew was good, great wok flavor and the noodles were delightfully chewy. The boat noodle was good, a bit sweet and I wish it had more garlic but good flavor. The crispy pork belly was crunchy with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It was yummy eaten with the rice and the crying tiger sauce, although the chili oil on the side is spicy! The tom yum goong soup was super tangy and flavorful - great for those who like sour soups. For dessert, we ordered the mango sticky rice and the fried bananas with ice cream. The mango sticky rice was perfect! The rice wasn't undercooked, coconutty with a yummy chewy texture. The mangos were sweet and succulent - many places often have unripe or sour mangos so this was so good. The fried bananas was piled high - freshly-fried, crunchy, and sweet. Perfect paired with the vanilla ice cream. We left extremely stuffed and satisfied. Some of the best Thai food I've had in Charleston with GREAT portion sizes. I cannot believe more people do not know about this place. We will definitely be back!!!

Duck salad

This is mostly a take out establishment with 7 small tables for dining in. Quintessential Charleston hole in the wall. Street parking. Homemade spring rolls were tasty, fresh and a good value. Pork belly dish had a delicious sauce, rice and veggies but could have used more veggies. Also, pork belly was very overcooked and tough. Duck salad was pricey and small for the money. There was a lot of duck but the salad was swimming in too much vinegary dressing. If you order this, I suggest you ask for the dressing on the side. Lastly, everytime the door opened there was an obnoxious, loud bell. They should consider turning off when customers are eating in. The bathroom was adadequate but no paper towels to dry your hands with.

Ordered for delivery for first time and it won't be our last! Great portions that are easily shared or reheated to enjoy again. The Thai wings were moist and crunchy with a great spicy sweet sauce to dip. Fresh basil rolls were great size with lots of shrimp and herbs tucked in. The Pad See Ew with pork was worth its nickname (drunken noodles). Pretty sure this is a great cure of a dish! It was a bit oily but that didn't stop us from enjoying every last savory bite.

Yummy Pad thai and gyoza! There are a lot of options on the menu so I will be back to try other dishes.

If possible, I would recommend calling in ahead of time if it's around a busy time of day. I got the Turkey Bacon Griller sandwich, which was turkey, bacon, swiss, tomatoes, and mayo on rye. It came with a bag of chips, and it was quite tasty. I'd say a full sandwich with chips wasn't as filling as I would hope, so I would recommend adding a salad or soup with a sandwich. I also tried the Chicken Noodle Soup, which was way too salty. I couldn't taste much besides the salt, and had to add some water to the soup to make it palatable for me. Overall, I liked the setting, everything seemed very clean, but the wait for my food was unfortunately quite long and while the sandwich tasted good, the soup was too salty. For the price, it was just ok.

I ordered the 1/2 honey fried chicken w/ mac & cheese and collard greens. For dessert, we shared pecan pie. The chicken was moist & delicious from being brined and seasoning in the batter. The batter was crunchy, and perfectly applied so you didn't bite into a hunk of just batter. Likewise, the sides were some of the best I had during my trip to SC. Lastly, the pecan pie was really good also. However, I was expecting a bigger & taller slice. Regarding the ambiance, its smart casual here. The decor is fancier vs the down home cooking. Danielle took very good care of us. She was friendly & attentive. Florence's did the trick for us. We had eaten a lot of raw seafood and BBQ. My friend said the tomato pie was really good but it's all cheese and tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were crispy but needed seasoning. They were incredibly bland. For the main dish she ordered the smash burger and I ordered the fish and grits. She took one bite of the smash burger and sent it back saying it tasted like a frozen burger you'd get at Walmart. The fish and grits were ok. They too were bland and needed salt. A LOT of salt or any other seasoning. The okra, Lima beans and corn that come in this dish also tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. There is no seasoning in this dish whatsoever. Unfortunately this place was a miss and we won't be returning. Also the bathrooms look like a porta potty. You know the cheap plastic that porta potties are made out of? Yeah that's what the stalls are made out of. It looks so cheap and a big contrast from the rest of the restaurant. The staff was nice but they also look like they hate working here.

I have been living in Charleston since 2010 and have been looking for a French restaurant for years. One day while walking around the French Quarter I noticed a quaint lil French bistro and put it on my "gotta try" list. So I came to see what all the 5 star reviews were about and boy was I disappointed from the get go. I try my best not to judge a book by its cover and lemme tell you I'm not scared of whole in the walls and the gems in different hodgepodge places, if it's got good eats, I'm there. I usually will try a restaurant 3 times before writing a review but helllllll no. The food and experience was so bad y'all! I have to tell you about my experience NOW while the bad taste is still in my mouth! I ordered the soup of the day which was she crab soup and a baguette. I thought cool French baguette is my fave and how could you go wrong with soup. No, I got 2 small slices of stale baguette top with some kind of cheese like a lunchable you can get at the grocery store and soup that was too salty to eat! So I said let me try something that you can't mess up. A croissant! A chocolate one well they messed that up too! How can you get a croissant wrong, and it was store bought croissants! Yuck! From a FRENCH restaurant, not made in house but if I'm wrong then those were the worst croissants ever!!!!!! Please people don't eat here! The serve staff did not greet us, ignored us and asked a white patron about his party of guests even though we were there 10 minutes before and the host knew he did wrong for asking to seat the other guy before acknowledging us because he caught my stare and we locked eyes and I did not back down or break the eye contact to let him know, yea fellow you totally ignored me for 10 minutes and asked the other guy how many in his party 1st! Even after the poor service I was dealt with in the beginning I still wanted to give it a chance, but after hearing how the wait staff addressed other patrons about how short staff they were and how horrible they had to do so many things I about had it. I was looking forward to a hot fresh French press coffee and was let down again. Weakest French press coffee just take my advice and walk swiftly past this whole in the wall. I can't believe this place is still open after so many years. Really Charlestonians!?! Really? I know we have more restaurants per square capita but this one has got to go. We ate some food because we were shopping and so hungry, but after that we paid and left fast

Funny thing is I was paying with a gift card from a previous messed up order where we picked up and they forgot to add the extra protein on all of our salads then when they remade the order they somehow did it again. I went to look at their online menu and realized I'd be keeping it light for the sake of my daily food budget. I called in to order takeout and ordered the Blintz, as it was reasonably priced and fair for the portion size: two crepes filled with their beef filling and a side of sour cream priced at $7.99. When I walked up to pay, the lady rang me up for $10 and change. I thought it was weird that I was paying nearly two dollars in tax on an eight-dollar purchase. She printed out the receipt, and it showed the price was $8.99 for the Blintz. There happened to be a menu right next to the cash register, and I pointed out that it said $7.99, and that their website said the same thing. She said, "sorry ‍," and just waved me off as if it was completely irrelevant and not worth looking into. Obviously, a dollar is not the end of the world--it's more the principle of placing an order under the expectation that prices are as advertised, and that not being the case, plus them not caring about it. I paid the $10 and took the food. They forgot the sour cream, so I had to ask for that. The last disappointment was when I found out how much food I got for $10. I get that you pay a little extra for quality, but sheesh... these things are barely the size of my finger. The food was overall pretty tasty; if we're just measuring taste, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Overall, this was a very poor experience, and it might be hard for me to try again.
