Trying out Mangia Apizza for the first time as I was looking to grab a quick bite to eat with a friend on our way to a concert up in Hartford. He was familiar with the area and Dave Portnoy from Barstool had made a stop through here recently and gave it an 8.2 score. Any score over an 8 is his words worth a drive, luckily this place was nearby! We will greeted at the door welcoming us, pulled up to the counter and grabbed our pizza to go. We stuck with the basic, a large cheese. Price you might ask? $18.18. That's a terrific price these days for a high quality pie. The pizza was New Haven style of course, had a great char on it, slightly runny in the middle but that is nitpicking at best, no big deal! Pizza itself was delicious, good crunch and flavor. They have some booths inside if you are looking to dine. The New Haven area has no shortage of great pizza places to select from, you can absolutely add this one to the list!!

There are all kinds of pizzas, and I'm not married to any particular style. Good is good in my book. When you say pizza though, and I formulate an image in my mind, it looks like the Mangia Special. The Moz is melted just right. The outer crust is the right thickness. The undercarriage is thin, but thick enough to hold the ingredients and it's good chewy. It has good char, but not too much of it. The toppings look like old school pizza toppings. The meat (pepperoni, sausage and bacon) and veggies (onion, peppers and shrooms) are balanced. The red sauce looks and tastes great. This was my first visit to Mangia. It was my number 1 Yelp search result for North Haven pizza. There are some tables for inside eating, but the atmosphere is not necessarily a selling point. They did a brisk take out business while I was there. The pizza was as good as I've had this year. Also, the Mangia crew was very friendly and made me feel welcome. Even when, upon arrival, I changed my phone in to go order, to a dine in order. If you value great pizza and service, you should try Mangia. Thanks Mangia for a great experience. Happy Yelp #thankyouthursday ! Five Stars

We ordered two apizzas. One fresh tomato and meat lover. Both were delicious. This was enough pizza for us to eat for two days. The employees were super nice and I would say that this is more of take out place rather than dine in. We will definitely order from here again.

The clam pizza - a gift from the heavens!

I hold two foods in the 'happy foods' category....Pizza and tacos. When you eat either, it just makes your soul smile. If you are ever close to this happy food location, I beg of you, check them out! While visiting my sister we ordered several pizzas and I could have made myself sick eating ALLLL the pizza...We had the clam pizza (dear Lord in heaven, I need more of this in my life), the cheese (yes, yes, and yes) and the pizza with sauce only ( I didn't try it but it looked amazing and my family scarfed it down!). The only drawback with this spot is that it is in North Haven and I am in Georgia and they probably won't deliver....

Driving down from the pizza wasteland that is Bristol I had high hopes for Mangia Apizza and my expectations were exceeded. When I lifted the lid on my small cheese pizza to go It was love at first sight. Picture perfect with the taste to match. The crust, sauce and cheese were all beyond reproach. No pizza is perfect but I can't find anything that I don't like about this place including the staff who were great. I'll definitely be back.

We avoided trying this place for quite sometime for no good reason other than it looked questionable as it's connected to a dive/biker bar. Finally decided that it might be a great pizza place and we were right. Definitely nothing to look at, as far as location or the interior of the restaurant, however for take out it is a good pick for the area. Their house pizza "Mangia Special" was so delicious! Also can't go wrong with a classic mozz or one topping pizza.

Five star experience. Outstanding white clam apizza. Crust was perfect. Rivaled any crust I've had on Wooster. These guys know exactly what they are doing in the kitchen and on the floor. Interior of the restaurant was very clean with numerous booths - large and comfortable. Restroom was spotless. This is a great New Haven style pizza place. Ownership can't be beat. Good people.

Olde World Brick Oven Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in North Haven, Connecticut…read morein 1995. It was founded by business partners Bill McCarthy and Joe Houde. McCarthy started making pizza at the age of 13. He received his training by working at local pizzerias such as La Bella's and Sorrento's. Once he reached adulthood, he started a career with the railroad. He worked with the railroad for several years until a physical injury caused him to retire. He went back to pizza-making when he started an eight-year stint at the popular Modern Apizza in New Haven. Eventually, he and Houde partnered up to open their own pizzeria. After 30 successful years, McCarthy and Houde decided to retire and sell the pizzeria. In April 2026, Olde World reopened under the ownership of business partners and chefs Robert Marcarelli, Jared Schulefand and Isarel Lopez. Marcarelli actually started his career working at Olde World, before going on to study at the Lincoln Culinary Institute. Schulefand started his career working as a busboy at Modern Apizza, before going on to study at Johnson and Wales University. He now owns Home Restaurant in Branford. Marcarelli & Schulefand both have their own restaurant consulting business (Pi Restaurant Consulting), and they co-own Supreme Seafood in North Branford, the Shanty in Branford, the Galley in Guilford, and NEBCO Kitchen in Branford. Lopez was a longtime pizzaiolo at Next Door Pizzeria in New Haven and nearly bought it before a deal fell through and it closed. In addition to New Haven-style thin crust apizza, Olde World also makes calzones, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, subs, stuffed breads and salads. I recently visited Olde World after they re-opened under the new ownership. I had eaten their pizza multiple times over the years and always loved it. How would the pizza taste now with the "new guys"? The new partners prepared a variety of different pies and dishes for my small group to sample. The classic "Mozzarella" (red sauce, mozzarella, pecorino) still tasted just as good as it ever did. In addition to the classic offerings, the partners have added some more modern twists to the menu, such as "Mashed Potato" (white, mashed potato, caramelized onions, bacon, garlic), "Crab Rangoon Pie" (white sauce, crème fraîche, imitation crab, sweet chili drizzle), and "Spring Fling" (asparagus, seacoast maitake mushrooms, ramp pesto, mozzarella, goat cheese, Szechuan chili honey). The latter (a special of the month) was my favorite of the tasting! We were also treated to some "Penne, Sausage & Broccoli Rabe" and "Burrata Salad" (asparagus, spicy capitol, herb marinated artichokes, tomato confit, baby greens, garlic crumb, balsamic truffle). Paired with some local Foxon Park sodas, we were treated to quite the feast! Not only is the food just as good as it ever was... it's even better now! I must tip my hat to our excellent hosts. I plan on coming back again and again!

It seemed so tough to chew not sure what's going on with that. Third was the over charred pizza. I'm from New Haven and like some char but this was excessive. I'll wait a little bit before I go back but I wouldn't say I'm done with this place just based on all the past great pizzas. Fix whatever is job on with the tough dough.

One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? Maybe I need to try more pizza places :)

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff
