My boyfriend and I decided to get manicures on a random Sunday. We looked on Yelp to find a nearby salon, after a short search we found Mandy V salon. They were able to take us as walk ins immediately! The technicians were very friendly and fascinated with the fact that my boyfriend is also Vietnamese. The interactions were quite genuine, their jokes were hilarious and to top it all off they took the utmost care in providing quality service and I could not be happier with my gel manicure. Definitely one of the best I have had! We mentioned to them we that we own a local business, they didn't hesitate to encourage their whole staff and patrons to visit our establishment. If I could give it negative stars I would. This place is a joke. My daughter and I went in for a pedicure and a new set for a wedding. I sat for the pedicure which the lady did a decent job, ill give them that. Only decent because they try to charge you extra for everything and try to say oh you said number #3 no i said #2 ma'am‍. The poor lady next to me kept making faces like the lady doing her toes was hurting her. She finally spoke up and said something. Anyway, I waited for my daughter which they started before me. They took close to two and half hours for a set of nails. Ok whatever. So my daughter did not want to show me her nails until later for some reason. I paid close to 162 for a gel pedicure and a set of nails. Then I just felt like i needed to see my daughters nails (mother's instinct). I had to force her to show me them because she was crying and so embarrassed of how they looked and how much I just paid. My daughter's nails were done by a lady named Sophia... it was so traumatizing for her. The lady left all kinds of product on her fingers including white nail polish for the tips. She did not do the nails the way she was asked to. She also filed my daughter's fingers/cuticles until they bled. Not all ten fingers but atleast 7 or 8 of them. For paying close to 100 dollars for them nails I could not keep my thoughts to myself so I spoke up. The lady tried to come fix it, I told her no you're not touching her nails. The sweet young girl in the front started to file the extra product off my daughters fingers (they said thats the only way to get it off) i was shocked. After all that not a sorry not a hey here's half your money back or hey your next one is on us (not that we would ever go back after that). They said the owner was out of town but when she got back they would let her know and she would be contacting me. Well that all happened on July 7th. Here we are the 26th and still nothing from them. Tried to give them the chance to make things right but here we are.... so this is your fair warning (I've also heard from friends that have come here not to go because of bad experiences but I'm one to have to try it myself before judging anything) do not go to this place. Their customer service is garbage as well! Sadly we did not take before pictures because we were both upset and just wanted them "fixed". I just went in last week for a pedi and fill as usual and one of my nails broke and I just went now to get it fixed and they charged me and I am in there 7 day policy. I don't know what is going on with Joy lately but I'm extremely disappointed! This is not right what so ever . The only reason I'm doing 3 stars and not 1 is that I have had some good experiences here. I have been coming to this salon since early 2022. About half of the time, I have bubbles in my nail polish and a third of the time I have 1-2 cuts on my cuticles. I have looked past this consistently because their prices are on the lower end, employees are friendly, and if there isn't a wait, I can be out of there pretty quickly. The salon offers a reward of going 10 visits and you receive $5 off. It is my understanding that this is tracked through an electronic check in system. Every time you walk in, they ask you to check in. As I was checking out to pay, I said that I think I have the $5 off reward. The tech scoffed at me and said no. I said I have definitely been here more than 10 times. He laughed and said no again. So, I asked how many points do I currently have while pointing to the check in tablet. He glanced at it and didn't say anything. He then handed me a punch card and put one stamp on it. What is the point of checking in on the tablet if when asking about the reward you have to start from 1 visit?? After I left, I decided to check my bank account to see just how many times I have been there. In the past 12 months, I have been to this salon 17 times. I understand making mistakes and having a bad day but to be laughed at pushed me enough that it's time for me to go elsewhere. read more

The prices could improve and their service also. I asked for normal $35 pedi the lady tried the ask me multiple times if I wanted the $55 but I kept refusing. I also ask for normal short $40 mani and got charged extra $7 I did not mind but somehow the sub total was $139. That's $65 of my hard earned money down the drain because of them. I was completely in shock and didn't want to argue for a lower price. I was drained and disappointed by the end that I just wanted to go home. That's because the guy who did my nails was harsh and rushy. He cut multiple of my cuticles and burned me with the nail drill and was aggressive with the nail filing part that I would flinched and he yanked my hand back. I haven't got my nails done in 4 years and this is what I get for treating myself. Wouldn't recommend because one they are to pushy, two the lack of pricing shown is not fair for consumers, third they charge you extra for paying with card. read more

I came in for a new set spent over $100 just to not like my nails I asked if she could fix and she said she was not going to.. I'll let you be the judge but these weren't worth what I paid. WARNING! This place is a chop shop nail salon. I have never been to a salon where they take off your old acrylic set with an acrylic nail. Insane! They should be soaked off but obviously it's "time consuming" and is "faster" this way. I gave it two stars because the nail tech I go to is really nice and try's his best, which was Larry. The other male in there is such an asshole, literally for no reason and I've seen him treat others like that and no wonder why no one goes to him. Now Larry does a good job but he takes off sets with an acrylic nail and is pretty rough compared to other nail techs which he's made me bleed before and burns me every time. I guess beauty is really pain here! They are not clean, the tools are definitely not, they always seem to be talking about customers and Joy and Larry seem to be the only "nice" ones. Prices depend on cash or card, because card automatically adds $4 to the service and I guess each nail tech charges different prices. I always schedule appointments because I've learned over the years that an appointment beats a walk-in any day but what made me upset is I had a nail appointment at 5:30 with Larry and was on time and I noticed him rushing and a two other ladies came in for a 6 and a 6:30 appointments with him. How did he expect to do a full set in 30? Mind blowing but he did it and was not satisfied and was the last straw because I made an appointment and expected 45mins to an 1 for a new set. As I walked in the pressured me to get a more expensive pedicure, or even though I just wanted the basic one. I asked for white polished nails that were gel, and they looked amazing. When I went to go get my gel manicure done, I had asked the owner and my nail tech how much it would be for a cute simple design versus a Chrome. They both wanted me to get the more expensive one, but would not give me a price for either of them. I felt pressured and just went with the chrome nails, which did look amazing. As I went to go pay my total for a pedicure and just gel nails on both the toes in the hands with Chrome was $100 without tip. I feel like this was a bit much and I didn't even get an itemized list of what I paid for, so I'm not sure if I was up charged for the more expensive pedicure. The work was great, but I would be cautious and ask for prices upfront. read more

Just got home from this place and I have never been more disappointed in a nail salon. I have been going here for quite a while as we live 2 minutes away. They've changed ownership over the past year and I feel it's gone downhill. All I wanted today was a natural gel color on my nails to keep them strong and help them grow. The older man who sat down to do my nails barley spoke any English so another employee had to help him communicate. As he was taking my old gel off I changed my mind on my color and picked more of a clear pink. He nodded so I assumed he understood what I wanted. However, when it came time to apply the color he grabbed the old one. I corrected him and he went and got the new one I chose. He was quite rough and sloppy. My nails are filed crooked and uneven. My right hand nails are much shorter than the left. I am going on vacation in a week and was hoping my nails would be in good shape by then but it doesn't look like that will be happening. It was also $22.00 for gel polish on just my hands which wouldn't have been bad if a good job had been done. I will NOT be coming back to Mandy V's and will recommend to others to stay away as well. I have never experienced such horrible nail salons as here in Albq. and still searching for something half way decent. I have lived in CT, NJ, AZ and now NM. I believe there needs to be more oversight by local government to meet cleanliness and business guidelines. My experience at Mandy V was horrific. It is catch as catch can..a totally chaotic environment with towels tossing around. loud music & constant chatter/ banter between the workers. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I made an appt. for 4:30. I got there on time and when asked I confirmed I had an appt. They tossed me in a chair & turned the water on. It almost ran over as everyone ran back to what they were doing. The water was hot.could not put fee in. I was largely ignored for most of that time...But after an hour I was pulling my feet out of the water as my skin was shriveling up from being in there that long. The service (FINALLY) Was haphazard & unprofessional..with a loudmouth (wearing a dress with her legs open so one could see her crotch), telling how experienced she was and grumbling when I asked her to do it the way I preferred. It is a walk in salon like MOST in Albq. (totally lame from 1950's). And it appeared to my observation that it did not matter if you walked in or had an appt. ..you were treated the same way. I will NEVER walk through the doors of Mandy V again. My next job is to research for other more professional salons (hopefully there may be at least ONE in Albuquerque)??? .....where I don't get treated like an after thought...being in a cattle car in some dusty deserted field somewhere. This business needs to be investigated. Felt like I was in a chaotic mental hospital where all the staff went crazy simultaneously! Very stressful, just about ruined the rest of my day. I've been here a couple of times now and definitely 5 stars in my book. I came here the first time during the holidays for the SNS dip. Those bad boys lasted for over 6 weeks and still looked pretty amazing. I should have just went back for my second set but decided to try another nail place for ombre nails that will remain nameless. It was awful and paid way more than at Mandy's. My third set I decided to go back to Mandy's and the lady that did my nails was super friendly and gave me a lot of suggestions. Never have gone here before. I drive 30 minutes usually to a salon on Montgomery even though this Salon is 2 minutes from my house. I needed a pedicure very fast today. I was seated in a chair with cold water on my feet for 30 minutes. Other customers were treated the same. I had to tell the tech to trim my nails shorter 3 times and they were still not cut or trimmed short enough. My heels were not treated and are still very rough. Was there for a hour and 30 min and overpaid. The salon had a very strong smell of chemicals and there were customers just waiting... Not enough nail techs. I could have given myself the same pedicure. I will not go back and I would rather pay for a cheaper price and get a better pedicure 30 miles away. read more

Ever since moving to the west side 6 years ago this has been my go to nail spot. I have never been disappointed with their work, and their color selection is HUGE. They have gel, chrome, and are always up to date with the new nail trends. Prices are very fair compared to other nail spots I have visited as well. It has taken a few weeks to get over my horrific experience with this business and be able to write about it without getting upset. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, ever! I used to enjoy coming in and seeing Joy (the owner), but after my most recent experience I would steer anyone clear of this business... You are taking the chance of being physically mishandled and verbally assaulted. I actually had to file a police report against the owner's brother TIM after he verbally assaulted me in their store and physically damaged my toes. I went in for a routine pedicure. I had an appointment pre-arranged with Joy. Not once did anyone ask if it was okay for someone else to work on me but after waiting patiently Tim came over and just started working on me (very roughly I might add). He never asked what type of services I wanted (they have 6 different types of pedicures all ranging in price), he never even said hello just proceeded to start butchering my toenails that I had just grown out. (Please see picture) Not once did I say anything rude to him or even ask for a discount or anything of the sort, he was short and unpleasant from the moment he came over, but when I asked him to stop working on me after the injury and roughness, he proceeded to curse, yell and scream in my face that he did nothing wrong and too get out of his store. I didn't even have shoes on, and he continued to verbally assault me until I finally was able to slip by him with assistance from the owner to the front door. I at one point thought he was going to physically grab me and pull me out of the store with his bare hands due to the aggressive nature of his body language and tone of screams! APD came to my house later that day and took my report. I declined to press further charges (although the officer said I had every right too) but did have the police file the report against the business and TIM for future reference if anyone else is ever threated or mistreated at least there is a legal record. Never in any situation is it acceptable for a man to intimidate or bully or physically make a person uncomfortable and every person in the salon that day was mortified at this man's behavior. One woman told me if her husband or any man had been there they would have never have allowed a man to abuse a woman that way. Joy repeatedly tried to apologize to me as she helped escort me off the premises around her screaming brother and stated that he was just crazy and she had no control over him numerous times. If this is the case, he shouldn't be allowed to interact with customers ever! Safety and security should be a priority for any business when it comes to their clients. DO NOT SUPPORT A BUSINESS THAT TREATS THEIR CLIENTS THIS WAY! Heritage nails 2 blocks down the street is a great alternative! read more
