I visited Sparkle Nails a few days ago for my usual pedicure. I've been a loyal customer for years, even at their previous location, but unfortunately I won't be returning. During my pedicure, the technician clipped my skin with the cuticle nippers--not just a small nick, but a deep cut that bled badly and was painful. While she apologized, my main concern was infection, especially since she tried to continue as if nothing happened. I had to call the owner over due to a language barrier, and she took over the cleaning part of the service. Afterward, I was offered an $8 discount, then $15, and finally $20 after I raised concerns about the service. I still paid $50, which will be the last money I spend there. The owner's response--especially walking away--left a very poor impression. Given the injury, the service should have been fully comped. I would have continued as a customer, but due to how the situation was handled, I shan't be returning !! read more

I have been getting my nails for 40 years and have NEVER had an experience like this! I was in Albuquerque in August. I Went to Sparkle Nails and had a wonderful experience. Now it is April, my mom passed away and I am back in Albuquerque to lay her to rest and wanted a fresh look. I walk in and they sat me down for a pedicure. The pedicure went fairly well accept their staff dont speak english very well and were hard to understand. Now its time to do my nails. I had a couple that had lifted and the lady suggested I get a new set. She began cutting my nails and asking me to soak them and I find out that they didn't even gave anyone on the premises to do a full set. After being there over 2 hours, someone shows up and starts trying to do my nails. She had me bleeding and when I told her I was bleeding she attempted to put glue to stop the bleeding and had an attitiude because I told her I was bleeding. She told me because I was not pleased with what had transpired, she felt I wouldnt be satisfied with the finished product and I could leave if I chose. I walked out with no nails and she had the nerve to ask me to pay for the pedicure with an attitude. With all they put me through, the pedicure should have been on the house. The last three times I got my nails done at sparkle, I was totally disappointed. got a regular pedicure and gel manicure. Three days later the polish on my hands and feet was chipping. I have seen the reviews of unsatisfied customer but no resolution to the problem. Apologies are great but, you profited and I am out more than $100. Unsatisfied customer should be compensate. Went to this place as I was waiting to get my car windows tinted. When I walked in I was just greeted by staff with a stare. I had to ask what the wait was for a gel mani pedi. I sat down and started looking at polish colors. The massage chair gets the 2 stars. The lady that did my pedi burned by skin off while filing my nails on one of my toes so the whole pedi it hurt and every liquid, hold, rub anything just made it burn more. Another lady did the mani, she cut the shit out of my cuticle and couldn't stop the bleeding. It hurt badly! So now my service is jacked up along with a toe and a finger. No compensating me. Just an "I'm sorry", like you should be. This was all Friday and today is Tuesday. After washing dishes I noticed that on 3 fingers the gel is already chipping and low at the tip of my nail. UGH. I've never waited more than 15 minutes even when it is packed. I am plain and love to get pedicures. I'm not a weekly mani-pedi kind of girl (actually more of a frantically removing month old chipped polish remnants so the manicurist doesn't judge me kind of girl), but there's something about a fresh pedicure that just makes a girl feel cute as a button! My mom and I found this place a year or so ago based on some diligent Yelp research performed by yours truly. We had been bouncing from salon to salon trying to find a place that really worked for us, and thanks to my fellow Yelpers, we found Sparkle. This time around, we hadn't been back in a while so we sprung for the deluxe and enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm honestly wavering between a 3 or 4 star rating, but I'm rounding down, for a decent reason I think. More on that in a minute. The owners and manicurists are usually very nice and professional, and the nails always look great and last around two weeks, which is a good payout in my opinion. You definitely need to commit to a few hours if you're getting both a manicure and pedicure - which really just means they're taking their time and doing a good job. The downside is that they have accidentally cut my mom at least once during both the last two times we've gone. Once he had to superglue her finger to make it stop bleeding! She didn't seem to mind too much though, and recently gave them four stars, so I'm not saying we won't be back. We may do some more research and check out more local salons first, however. read more

I have been to Sparkle Nails once before and it was about probably a 3 to 4 star rating experience. However this time, I left feeling ripped off. We had an appointment, and yet we experienced a bit of a wait, which was honestly no big deal. I expected that a lot of people wanted their nails done for Christmas. However, the events to come would result in the earning of the two stars. We finally got called to the chairs, and we handed the ladies our polish. I told the lady I wanted my nails done in the same manner that they were (polish on the bottom, glitter polish on top, and a flower). The lady started my pedicure first and she brought out these nail tool style clippers and began to clip my nails. She was leaving them incredibly long, and so I asked if she could trim them shorter. She agreed, but continued to use the nail scissors thing (instead of nail clippers) which took forever. The nails were finally cut, and she cleared the skin and did all the other work that they do (which was fine). She was pretty thorough with her work, which was nice, but that seemed to cut down on time spent on my foot massage. The massage was quite basic. The duration pretty much lasted long enough for someone to put lotion on both of my feet and calves maybe with an extra few seconds. It was so disappointing.... My mom sat next to me, and a younger girl came at her feet with a vengeance. She ripped out the clippers and nail scissors and acted like she was part of a NASCAR pit crew. My mom said she understood they were busy, but urged her to slow down before they cut her foot. The girl said she wasn't rushing, and sure enough a few minutes later she scuffed the bottom of her foot with the cheese grater looking tool. The girl went to put some type of a cuticle oil (out of an acetone bottle) on my mom's foot and caused a burning sensation on the bottom of my her foot (the one that was scuffed by the cheese grater tool). The girl apologized, but if she hadn't been rushing that wouldn't have happened.... My mom ended up with a nice paint job which she liked, but I ended up incredibly disappointed. From a distance, my nail job was nice, but after they bumped it with a gel light and pressed down on my flower it looks like a month old nail job done by a 10 year old. I am so mad at the looks of my flower! It looks like a daisy that has been trampled... On top of the trampled flower the polish is thick and bumpy... so disappointing! It's sad that you go try and get something done for a special event and get let down. I could have saved the $30 and done the pedicure myself. What a waste of time and money! read more

The lady was honestly SO NICE. But we started with a dirty used up file, and right there I should have turned and ran. Had they told me that they couldn't do a dip set I would have found somewhere else. But instead I spent over THREE hours getting the worst manicure I've ever had. She kept doing things out of order and would then have to go back and attempt to fix it. None of my nails are the same shape, they vary in thickness and length, are uneven and lumpy, and you can feel patches of rough texture on top. Cuticles were flooded and she left so much product underneath the nails. I truly believe I could have done a better job by myself with the serendipity dip kit from walmart. A waste of time and money, and now I have to spend more money trying to find a shop to get this nightmare off my hands. read more

The manager is such an evil hateful person who berated me while I was pregnant and emotional because my dad had just died. I wanted to do something to take my mind off of everything and relax but it was all wrong. They were making fun of me for being so big and not moving fast enough when walking to switch chairs mind you I'm 8 months pregnant then when I speak up about my nails being awful this woman in the red dress berated and belittled told me I was just being emotional because I was pregnant. Like duh! But I wasn't being emotional because I was pregnant I was emotional because I was angry! And to top it off the other ladies there were waving their phones in my face. Bamboo was the young lady who did my nails. Actually, she did a number of things... I'll call it the works! I asked for gel on my hands, polish on my feet, and then an eyebrow wax. She did a phenomenal job. She was extremely gentle and precise which is great cause with gel, you need to be extra careful or else. There were a few men helping other patrons; they were cracking jokes, making color suggestions, and commenting on the current events as the news hovered over. A midst all I've mentioned, you had some soft rock playing the background, calming the nerves of an otherwise busy day at work. I felt relaxed. Sparkle Nails is also not very old, along a busier part of Menaul. They have a wonderful color and gel selection. Their staff really cares about their customers and will give you that extra pink or sparkle to get the rest of the day going.
