This place was different than I expected! Even though you order at the counter it still has a restaurant vibe. Also I was thinking it was more like fast food Italian but it was very good! The portions were good too and it's nice that a lot of the dishes come with your choice of spaghetti or fettuccine Alfredo. Also they have a cute dessert/coffee counter that is separate. We tried some of the gelato flavors which were all yummy! This is a great place to meet friends and not even have to worry about splitting checks because everyone can order what they want at the counter. I didn't know anything about the restaurant except that it's located off of Maitland Blvd. However, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the menu, the food, and the outdoor seating under the pergola. It was an easy, comfortable, and enjoyable time and meal. Order at the counter, find your own table, and the food is brought to your table. Our large party chose the outdoor seating with ceiling fans and a nice breeze. While the playlist was loaded with fun and notable songs, our location allowed us easy conversation. My wife and I chose the Vegetariano, a half panini, that also included fries, a cup of soup, or a side salad. Because we didn't state specifically, the sandwich arrived with heaping fries. However, my wife and I enjoyed the grilled veggies on the toasted multi-grain bread, and were satisfied with splitting the generous-sized sandwich. Complimentary light and airy focaccia bread along with an olive oil dipping sauce arrived prior to the entrees, to the surprise and enjoyment of our family. The servers brought out our dishes in quick order and with pleasantness. A children's and lunch menu is available. Look for Daily specials on the menu. My fiancée and I ate at Mandola's tonight and had SUCH a lovely time. (She had actually eaten there the night before and brought me back some incredible dessert, so I asked to come in the next day!) The vibe is very comfortable, almost a hometown deli feeling. You order at the register and receive a number to bring back to your table, where a runner will bring by focaccia, olive oil, and an herb blend. Our food came out within 10 minutes and was absolutely delightful! Even with my no-goat-cheese modification, my chicken menichino was so tasty and perfectly seasoned. I also tried a glass of their Gavi di Gavi, which was such an excellent complement to my meal. My partner tried the daily special, a beef brass to, and was blown away by the tenderness of the beef and the large portion size. We were too full to get a dessert to share in-house, but we stopped by the dessert counter and received amazing to-go recommendations, which is how we ended up with tiramisu, a lemon ricotta cookie, a snicker doodle, an espresso cookie, and a slice of cake. (We'll be back to try the gelato!) And, on my out, I spotted a family-friendly detail I didn't expect - a changing table in the restroom stocked with diapers of all sizes and wipes! We came in for lunch and had a good experience! We liked the fast casual concept where you order at the counter and then they bring the food out. The little dessert market was really cute. Service was friendly and fast. We really liked the complimentary bread and I loved that you could pour and season your own olive oil at the drink station. For appetizers, we got the bruschetta and the garlic bread. Both were very good and easy to share. For my entree, I got the lunette modo mio. The mushrooms, sauce, and filled pasta were all good and I liked the inclusion of peas. The dish was a tad salty, but not unbearably so. I was initially overwhelmed because it was my first time there and you order before you sit. They have a pretty extensive menu, but someone came to greet us and explain the process. The lunch menu has a variety of options from pizza, to pasta, to sandwiches, at a reasonable price. You also get this delicious soft bread and oil to start with. I had a grilled chicken panini with garlic fries and it was delicious. If you like cheese it was a lot on there, just the way I like it. The garlic fries with the dip was really good as well. The food arrived quickly to our surprise, and I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and my wife got the chicken piccatta and my son ordered the kids pizza. Located in a stand-alone building within one of the newest plazas in Maitland, Mandola's seems to be a fast service Italian restaurant that's supposed to emulate an Italian market. With locations in Texas and Florida, all Mandolas have a counter-order-then-sit-down system where a team member will bring you your order after it's placed. Soda beverages are self-service. The dining area consists of small square tables with either green or red chairs and you can view your meal being prepared in the open kitchen. Outdoor seating is also available. Each meal comes with complimentary focaccia bread with herbed olive oil for dipping. My husband and I ordered the fried mozzarella. This is the first time we didn't devour fried mozzarella. We just didn't like the taste. My husband hypothesized that it was cooked in old oil. For his main dish, my husband ordered the beef brasato (the Saturday special) and a side Caesar salad. He found both dishes tasty. For my entree, I ordered spaghetti and added grilled chicken. The chicken didn't have much flavor and had a bit of a rubbery texture, but the pasta was cooked perfectly. Well, I believe the best way to describe the food would be to start by saying it's better than Olive Garden but not as good as old school Macaroni Grill. The bread they serve with olive oil and seasonings don't hold a candle to Carraba's and lacks flavor and crunch. I didn't realize that while one can sit down to eat, the order is placed at a counter and then brought over to your table with a number they give you on a large stick. I chose the daily special for Friday, which is Shrimp Scampi and Fettuccine Alfredo. The shrimp was exceedingly lemony but had no garlic whatsoever and the Alfredo sauce was so thin and flavorless. The dessert counter with gelatos and cakes looked pretty awesome though; I'd definitely go back for some pistachio gelato for sure and a pizza because I did see people with pizzas and they looked very thin and crispy. read more

For a fast casual restaurant, Mandola's is a great value with a lovely staff. We happened to stop by on a day they were having a $2.50 spaghetti and meatball special in honor of 50 years in business. And we happened to get the last two for the day. Add a pretty decent bottle of Pinot and the never ending bread service and it was a nice meal with enough for leftovers. My wife arrived before me, placing the order. I arrived shortly after, only the complimentary bread had been served. I went to get a drink, bit the soda machine was out of ice. I let them know and they refilled it within a few minutes. The mozzarella and my salad arrived shortly after. The Cesar salad was good, and tasted fresh, though it it more of an Italian dressing rather than creamy. The mozzarella was ....off. I think that the oil it was cooked in was a bit off. I live in Colorado and don't really know what is near her, but then remembered about Mandola's, where I have eaten a couple of times while visiting her. We have actually already been here twice, and while I won't say it is the absolute best Italian food you can find anywhere, we have really enjoyed our experience. You order at the counter, choose a table, and then your food is brought out to you. When you first sit down you will be brought some fresh foccacia bread that I am in love with! It is always fresh and the dipping oil they also bring out works so well with it. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo and I thought it was good. Lots of cheesy and garlicky goodness! The employees have been wonderful and so friendly and welcoming. It is also a good option for larger groups as it is easy to order separately and then sit together. I had really delicious dinner at Mandola's Italian kitchen. This restaurant had been on my radar since it opened sometime last year. My order was a "to go " order and it was a great experience. As soon as I walked in I was directed to take out counter where I was helped. I wanted to try the special but unfortunately it sold out.. which to me is a good sign. Now to the food, the standard portion are not shareable sizes. I'm comparing this to other local Italian cuisine eateries and restaurants. I ordered a side portion of gluten free pasta with bolognese, after adding a little seasoning that they had readily available it was ok. My dinner mate had the LUNETTE MODO MIO and said it tasted fantastic but he was disappointed in the portion. The gluten free garlic mozzarella bread was two pieces of toast cut in half and definitely not worth the up-charge, maybe make it with the gluten free pizza crust for an $11 price point and I could understand. It's a quick service style order at a desk then sit down (tip now before experience any service!....) with a little number to be served.Wine options weren't terrible but I was hopping for something more than what we got. Found out it's more or less an off shoot of Carraba's after the fact so it makes sense. Maybe tonight was just a bad night with different kitchen crew being it's a new location but between food and a very rude "waitress" I can't recommend this at all for a nice Italian dinner out with friends and family. What an amazing experience. I've been watching and waiting for this Italian restaurant to open and it finally did. Parking was very easy, and open. I walked in and was immediately greeted. Her explained the concept of the restaurant and how to order. From the outside looking in, it looked like a restaurant where you have your own individual server...but it's not. You order your food, sit down and everything is brought to you. It's definitely upscale Italian food with a family friendly feel. They offer a wide range of food items, drinks, wine, beer and desserts. I ordered the calamari with zucchini, fettuccine alfredo with salmon, a frozen peach belllini, and a snickerdoodle cookie for dessert. The calamari was fried perfectly, not too soft and not overly crispy. Trying it with the fried zucchini was an added plus! The Alfredo with salmon, chefs kiss!! In not too big on heavy alfredo sauce and it was just enough. Not too salty and not overly creamy. The peach bellini (they offer 2 sizes) was so good, very peachy and strong. The snickerdoodle Connie I waited until I got home to heat it up and it was delish. Overall, this was a great experience. This beautifully decorated restaurant gives you a feeling of being in your Nonna's cucina , serving up fresh, flavorful and bright entrees that give you a new perspective on Italian cuisine. On top of that, the service and wait staff are extremely attentive and welcoming, two attributes that are severely lacking in many eateries. I went here for a meeting with one of my committees, and I had never heard of it before, but it was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised. I have the homemade lemonade, which was great. In addition, the Bolognese was just right it was hot. The service is amazing. They gave out free desserts like cookies as well as cake.
