We have been Manderfield's fans for as long as I can remember! Everything they offer is incredibly delicious. I purchase the unfrosted sugar cookies every Christmas season for my kids and now my grandkids to decorate. Their cookies donuts and cakes are also amazing. I stopped in a few days ago for a couple of their cherry turnover's which are a personal favorite. They also have something in the counter to sample which is a welcoming touch. I would go more often if the prices were not so high but the taste makes up for it. read more

Manderfields always does a great job! The Donuts were yummy as always, especially the custard filled ones! The cakes I've ordered from here were very good as well! One year I had them make me a Pi 3.14 cake and it was awesome! The service is always good. When it is busy they are organized for good service to take numbers. I will certainly be back! This is an old fashioned bakery with great quality products! I've had cakes from here and they never disappoint which is why I wanted to go check the place out. I went to see the place and tried the donuts. These are some quality donuts and much better than those you find in grocery stores and of course way better than Kwik Trip! My son picks up bakery every weekend to enjoy up at our cottage. Last weekend he ordered a carrot cake( my favorite) for 6-10 people. It was way too small, did not have cr cheese frosting, which he requested and tons of frosting which had to be scraped off in order to enjoy. Why on a small cake would they put a 3/4" frosting. I hope they can listen to the order and lessen frosting on everything. read more

Disappointed. If I purchased a cake at the local grocery store I expect less than I do from a "home baked" bakery, but buying a cake at a home baked, local bakery I expected more than rock hard, inedible sugar roses. It pains to me to write this review because I have been going to Manderfields for a long time but the last few times have not been as good of quality. Today I purchased four different donuts and all were dry, almost like day old, and the flavor was not as good. My children even commented and did not eat their whole donut. We threw them away. Oh my God, where do I start with Manderfield's! I live in Michigan, but I grew up with this as a household name; my Dad was born and raised in Appleton during the 1940's-50's, and HE grew up with Manderfield's as a part of his family. Without fail, Manderfield's is the one spot that we always, always, always stop by when we travel into Northern WI. Generally the hard rolls are ordered ahead of time to make sure we'll get them; more recently my parents have started calling ahead to order the cinnamon chips (holy hell, I could eat those all day long) and cherry chip cookies (a childhood favorite of my sister). The bagels are great, and the various coffee cakes are to die for. Thinking of the butter streusel makes my mouth water! And their breads, oh wow, I'd buy from them exclusively if I lived in Appleton! The only thing I've never tried are their donuts; generally they're sold out by the time we make it in to pick up our orders and browse, plus we're kind of spoiled from the local Sweetwater's Donut Mill here in Kalamazoo. (Stop through there if you're ever in the area, you won't regret it!) I don't know if people in the area realize how lucky they are to have a bakery like Manderfield's; such a wide variety of delicious items, and all at great prices. I went here because of these reviews. We ordered a cake on Saturday with an empty space for the price because the person who could give us pricing was not there. We got pricing on Monday and cancelled. They charged us a cancellation fee because they 'already started' it. Started what, I said. You don't even have our decision. The paperwork, she says. Oh really, there is a $25 charge for the paperwork? Yes, she says. Ok, I said. I will Tweet this, for sure. And then some. So there you are, a blank order sheet, with a $60 down payment and they keep $25 for the paperwork--which did not have anything filled in for prices........hmmmmm. Stinky stinky stinky. I sent my son with a disability in to the Darboy Manderfield's for 5 loaves of bread and 6 cookies. He waited patiently for his turn at the counter while 1 of the clerks waited on every other customer that was in the store. Finally he had the courage to speak up and say I was next as everybody else got waited on. Then the clerk continued to ignore him and helped the other customers instead even though he was there first. So in frustration he left the bread on the counter and left the store. Obviously some of the clerks at Manderfield's are prejudiced against people with disabilities. I will never go back to the Darboy Manderfield's again. There are other bakeries in the valley to get fresh bread from. Rudeness should not rule customer service. read more

We had only occasionally stopped at Manderfield's when we were looking for something specific; however, we have now discovered their delightful artisan breads...we stopped in there the day before our very large family Christmas celebration looking for a loaf of round bread that we could core out for a warm dip we would be serving. While purchasing a Peasant Loaf, there were samples of an artisan bread made with corn and (I think) jalapenos...well, needless to say we ended up having them pack up a loaf of that, as well!! SO good. As it's winter, we make a lot of homemade soups at our house and now I force my girlfriend to stop on her way home from work in New London to pick up a loaf of that wonderful bread as the side to a piping hot bowl of whatever creation is on the menu for the night. There's only one problem with that bread...it never lasts more than one meal!! And I love the artisan bread punch card! Their artisan loaves are super soft on the inside with a wonderful, chewy crust on the outside. Might I recommend purchasing one of their round loaves (any flavor) and coring it out for a warm dip or spread...that went over gangbusters at our holiday party and we will definitely be doing that again...just amps up the presentation without spending a lot of time being in tedious, super fancy work...plus there's the added bonus that when the dip is gone you can tear up the bread bowl and eat that with the flavor of the dip, too!! Just go and try it, you most definitely won't be disappointed, that's all I can say!! Oooo...forgot one thing...they have MASSIVE chocolate eclaires. I mean, they are like 8" long and almost 4" wide for less than 3 bucks! Who needs to buy dad a birthday cake when you can get him this and he'd by WAY happier!! read more

We tried this bakery for the first time. The bread was very good. However, the raspberry Bismark had very little raspberry taste and the frosting was way too thick. The lemon Danish also lacked flavor. The chocolate éclair was mushy and also didn't taste good. I threw it out. Customer service at the counter was top-notch. Because of the lack of flavor in most of their baked goods, we will be going to Simple Simon instead. read more

Ordered a sheet cake. Upon slicing the cake, the layer of frosting was the same amount as the layer of cake...I felt like we ordered a sheet of frosting. All my guests were scraping ALL that frosting off. Why should we pay for all that frosting and no cake??!! The cake dipped down in the center so they fill it in with frosting.. IT WAS SO GROSS!!!! Manderfields is the all time best bakery. I wish it was just around the corner instead of a drive but that's probably best since Id be eating bakery too often if it was just around the corner. Being from out of town and in need for high quality cupcakes for my daughters baby shower, I asked at my hotel and several business where I should go...all of them said Manderfield's!!! I was SO pleased with first of all the service!!! There were only mardi gras decorated cupcakes available in the case, however I was asked what i was looking for and in 10 minutes I was presented with a box of 24 adorable pink cupcakes. (they were the center pieces for the tables!) Secondly, these cupcakes were hands down the most delicious I have EVER tasted! The frosting...most AMAZING! All my guests were delighted by the sweet treats, most saying they were too cute to eat...FYI NONE were left over!!! Thank you! Also , I bought a loaf of your multi grain bread with the seeds on the outside...it reminded me of times I spent in Germany at the local Backerei...what a great recipe...thanks for the memories! read more
