It is what it is, except for when it's not. This is American Chinese takeout. I go elsewhere, but felt like a basic Moo Goo Gai Pan. Very disappointed. It was full of GREEN PEPPERS and, COUNT them TWO snow peas, and NO water chestnuts! Thank goodness I ordered an egg roll. Oy! I'm out. read more

Wow. Ordered delivery on a whim for my family this Easter evening. It was all so good! Fresh, hot & delicious. The food left me feeling light - not like I just gorged on Chinese. My vegetarian husband says it was the best Asian food he had in years (he has the tofu Thai red curry-believe me when I say he's hard to please in the food department lol). Very satisfied, we will be repeat customers for sure, thank you Mandarin Taste for coming through on a holiday! read more

Haven't been here in a few years. Definitely has gone downhill. The garlic sauce was like water, the general Taos was only 1/2 full of chicken, which was soggy. I'll never go here again. Very disappointing. read more

Consistently great quality. Generous portions at good prices. Friendly staff. Orders are done quickly. My go-to local Chinese take out spot 100% read more

In hopes for some quick delicious take out I was extremely disappointed by this restaurant. We ordered the chicken with mixed vegetables and brown rice, miso soup, and the vegetable lo mien. Here are my thoughts. Delivery: The food came in the correct time frame. There was no issue with timing or breakage. All items were also delivered that were ordered. Packaging: everything was safely delivered in plastic to go containers that we can reuse. Soy sauce and duck sauces were provided. Food: This unfortunately was their biggest downfall. The chicken we ordered came almost paper white. It also had a strangle gelatin kind of texture which was super gross. In the picture I have of the chicken I drenched it in soy sauce to help the flavor. The vegetables were ok. The rice was somehow over cooked. My vegetable lo mien looked disgusting quite honestly. It was sad, soggy, and the flavor was below average. Overall I was not a huge fan of this place. I will attach pictures of my orders below. Quite honestly I would recommend instead the restaurant Asian Taste as an alternative. It has good food for good prices. This place however was a disappointment and I will not be a frequent customer. read more

Lucky me, this is my local Chinese place! Fresh, not too greasy. Really good egg rolls. Lots of beef in the beef and broccoli, and the meat is always tender, not chewy. The interior decor leaves something to be desired, but who is going to eat at the restaurant anyway? A warning: I have had problems with order accuracy. So make sure to check your order when you pick it up. After getting used to their delish food, most other Chinese restaurants' food seems greasy and low quality. read more

We ordered from their lunch menu for first time. My husband had the kung pao chicken. The chicken 'meat' was dubious and he took all of it out. Said the vegetarian fried rice was ok. My wonton soup broth was strangely reddish and greasy. Expected a pale yellow. Discarded. The meat inside was indeterminate. The shrimp in my lo mein were the size of my thumbnail so seemed safe enough. The lo mein itself was heavy and thick. I ate a bit of my pork fried rice. We won't be back but I'd advise being safer and sticking with vegetarian. read more

Do not trust their delivery of 45-60 minutes. Ninety minutes! I called and asked the woman if she would call the driver and get an ETA, she said she would and call back. She did not. The food was not warm, the brown rice pasty and bland. The pork and broccoli had more sauce than necessary, the space could have been filled with more meat. Their quality has gone downhill and to service is subpar. read more

There food is great!! it is not a 5 star Michelin restaurant, but a local Chinese place. It is as good as a local Chinese place gets! I got Egg Rolls and Hunan Chicken. Yum!!!! read more

Decent choices with lots of options This is my go to take out in the area Good sized portions I think I'm gonna stick with them for a while read more

Grabbed something to go with our delicious ice cream 2 doors down. Should have just stuck with the ice cream. Shrimp fried rice was yellow rice with little bitty shrimp and some onions, no other veggies. Bourbon chicken was an odd red. Egg rolls were overly fried but also doughy somehow. read more

Best fried rice I ever tasted! Rich brown color, saucy taste and plain is offered as an option if you don't like meat and veggies in your rice. Pot-stickers were not oily and priced right for an 8 count portion. Sesame noodles look a bit on the messy side, looks like day old pasta. 10.00 min for delivery but 20 bucks can fill you for at least 2 days. Delivery was kind of a botch. He arrived after 30 mins which was great because i was informed a minimum of 45 mins. But... He wouldn't stay in one place when i tried tracking him down to pay him, he was a bit on the crazy side and he made quick delivery an issue. As long as the delivery issue is resolved i can say i will be a long term customer... if they can get the things i like right. It's the small things that mean the most sometimes. read more

In the past couple months, I have become a regular customer. The lunch menu has a number of incredibly good deals. The food is always prepared on time. And the staff is so friendly! Look forward to going back each week. read more

We'd hoped this would be our go to Chinese takeout spot bc it's walkable. Ordered General Tso chicken and it was very bland. Most disappointing was pad see ew - the noodles were stuck together and didn't have enough sauce. The sauce and vegetables were not what I'd normally expect in the dish. This was our second chance, so looks like we'll check other Chinese places now. read more

I give it 3.5 because I was hungry. The quality of Chinese food had gone so low that average meals get scaled up. The human shrimp was okay. Broccoli under cooked, shrimp were great, sauce was pastry and won ton soup was great. I would eat here again if I was really hungry and nearby but that is it read more

Mandarin Taste - It hasn't changed since Chairman Mao. - Chinese Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Awful food. The fried rice is bland. I ordered Hunan shrimp and they had added beans that look like black beans, but they tasted rotten and awful. The orange chicken was standard, but the crab rangoon came without any sweet and sour sauce and were a bit stale. Egg rolls were sub-par. Overall, the worst Chinese I've had in Baltimore. The driver was prompt and very friendly though. They have a $3 delivery fee, but their portions are priced generously. read more

Overall, the food was subpar. I ordered General Tso chicken, bourbon chicken, wontons, and egg rolls. The food was cold and bland even with sauce. The only great thing was the white rice. If this is your only option, you may be better off starving. Will not return. I appreciate the fact they deliver though. :) read more

We ordered carry-out tonight and were really impressed. We regularly order Chinese and found the food quality to be outstanding. The person who answered the call understood me well and took the order correctly. Within 20 minutes the order was ready for pickup. It was extremely well packaged for carry-out. All of the items were excellent. We ordered Hunan Chicken, Sesame Noodles and Sesame Chicken. Everything was great. We have never eaten in the restaurant and I must say the decor is limited. It may not be much to see but the food is really good and perhaps one of the best carry-out options in the area. read more

We ordered lunch for delivery. The food came in a timely manor. It also tasted very good. This 3 star review is for not packing any utensils or napkins with the order. We are working in an empty house and had to scrounge up some plastic forks from my van. I'll give the place another try though read more

Perhaps the best Chinese delivery in the Upper Charles Village/Roland Park area. The Crabmeat Fried Wontons were light and crispy. The Pad Thai and Duck Green Curry were flavorful. And, the FREE egg drop soup was delicious! A lovely delivery meal at a reasonable cost. read more

I wasn't expecting great things from this local Chinese standby, but was pleasantly surprised. We got Lo Mein, Hunan Chicken, Green Thai Curry, fried rice, and dumplings. All of them had much more nuanced flavor than expected, and plenty of fresh vegetables. Some dishes benefited from additional salt and/or sriracha, but none were lacking in flavor or quality. Will try them again. Thanks! read more

disgusting. got shrimp toast.... oil it was cooked in had to be rancid, due to smell. made the mistake of biting into....totally rotted... grey mass inside was so fowl, mushy, no texture, literally grey color. maybe i hit on bad night, but still...no excuse for rotted food. kung pao chicken looks like they used can of chow mein mix and some chicken..pretty sure not fresh... dog ate that and didn't die...but he wouldn't touch the shrimp toast. read more

My go-to staples here are the General Tso's chicken (white meat), Szechuan shrimp, shrimp egg rolls and the shrimp lo mein. The egg foo young is pretty good, too. They are so kind at the location and the delivery is spot on. My food always arrives hot and with a smile. read more

Absolutely awful service. I ordered almost two hours ago and just got my food. at 1hr 20 min, I called and whoever answered was unsure of the status of my order and said they were very busy. Offered no discount, coupon, or anything. I wanted to cancel the order but she said the driver was already in the way. I haven't eaten yet but the pork fried rice appears to be"fried" white rice with pieces if pork in it. Will not order again and I told the delivery driver as much. I'm not sure if they'll care. read more

I'm not sure why yelp says this place is closed. It most certainly is not. I order from them a few times a month. Love the food, love the people. The only hard part is trying to decide what to get. Every friend that I have introduced to this place agrees that it is the best Chinese. The seafood dishes are always fresh and it is a noticeable difference over other chinese carryout places. read more

I have been ordering delivery from this restaurant for about a year. I was satisfied with the basic orders of egg rolls and fried rice. After some time the quality of food lacked and the delivery time became excessive. The most recent delivery order took over 2 hours. Upon speaking with the owner of the restaurant I learned she would not refund the order and she could not assure me the food would be delivered any time soon. Very disappointing. Will no longer order from Mandarin Taste. read more

Extremely incompetent. I have attempted to order twice through this restaurant, both times they've delivered to the wrong apartment and blamed me for their failure after I explicitly stated which apartment I was in and to call me to make sure that they had found the correct apartment. Absolutely terrible treatment. Do not recommend. read more

New to the area and with that in search of a new Chinese restaurant - one that has vegetarian options and peanut safe practices. After some searching we decided to give Mandarin Taste a go, and a quick talk with a manager before ordering set our minds at ease in regards to peanut policy. We ordered the General Tso's Tofu along with our "standard" eggplant with garlic sauce. Decided to go with carry-out and food was ready in about 20 minutes and everything was correct. The eggplant with garlic sauce is slightly different than what we are used to, but in a good way. Instead of being all eggplant, there were a variety of other vegetables in the dish including some fresh carrots and broccoli. The General Tso's Tofu was also amazing, great rich sauce with a hint of heat. The tofu was well cooked, firm on the outside with an almost caramelized crust and nice and soft on the outside - much better than the standard pre-cooked fried tofu tossed in sauce. This dish also came with some fresh broccoli, which seemed to be steamed and then added in. Only change I would make is to the portions, essentially we wound up with way too much rice and not enough sauce. Everything tasted amazing the night of, but the lack of sauce in the dishes resulted in some slightly dry leftovers, but nothing a little vegetable stock couldn't fix! read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh!! Ordered veggie egg foo young, veggie fried rice and fried dumplings. Real veggies used! Not frozen like most delivery places try to get away with. Real carrot slices, broccoli, bell peppers and fluffy egg throughout the rice. Dumplings were a bit doughy and heavy but overall fresh and delicious, easy online ordering and friendly service. read more

Not good anymore. They have changed all of the recipes and it's very bland now. Not a fan. I will drive the extra 15 minutes to go to Szechuan House in Towson. Very disappointed. read more

I've been hoping that Mandarin Taste would be THE takeout place for our family. It's within walking distance of home, and usually has delivered good if not memorable dishes, like a variety of tasty and plentiful Lo Mein choices. A 3-star rating was on the verge of becoming a 4-till this week. Thai spring rolls last night were surprisingly light and flavorful. Mushu chicken was also better than average, though the pancakes looked and tasted processed. The biggest disappointment was a beef and broccoli dish in which the "beef" was actually inedible: all fat and gristle, and with no taste. I won't risk having any beef dish at MT in the future. If it was an indication of the overall quality of the food they're preparing, we'll have to reconsider a return trip to MT in the future. read more

Always happy with their food, couldn't decide what to order so I got small orders for 4 things so I could share and have left overs for lunch tomorrow :-) Some how I always end up with an extra thing of food not sure if it's a bonus or what... but I'll take it! You can now order online at http://baltimore.eat24hours.com which makes it so easy. read more

My son's favorite Chinese restaurant by far. We live in Hunt Valley but have to drive all the way down there for his shrimp lo mein. He says it has a smoky flavor and you can tell they actually stir fry it. He also says the kitchen is clean. I love the Hunan shrimp because it has fresh mushrooms and a lighter sauce than most. read more

This used to be my go-to favorite takeout restaurant, until earlier this year. They must have changed ownership, because the recipes all changed. The food is much greasier & heavier now, more "typical Americanized Chinese" type food. Also, they used to have mock meats instead of just tofu, but alas those are gone too. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Towson. Always hits the spot. Closest to NY Chinese food that I can find.

I ordered from here using my Yelp $2.00 coupon. My food was awesome -- It was the 1st time I tried this place -- I got Shrimp Pad Thai -- YUMMY!! I also tried 2 appetizers -- Spring Rolls -- YUMMY !! & Steamed Dumplings -- Too Doughy -- Plus it came with FREE Won Ton Soup -- YUMMY -- just the right size -- my food lasted for a few days -- big portions. I'll be back !!!! read more

First time ordering from this restaurant. Got chicken egg foo young, Thai spring rolls, steamed chicken dumplings, chicken and broccoli, chicken lo mein, crab rangoon. What a wonderful surprise! Everything was really good. My 2 year old inhaled the chicken & broccoli and chicken lo mein. That says a lot. Food was delivered hot and the delivery guy, Patrick, was super nice. I'm elated to find my new go to place for Chinese. Thank you Mandarin Taste. read more

Five stars for food!! Best Chinese American food in Baltimore hands down! And they've expanded menu to include Thai and hibachi. My tofu sambal was unbelievably good- crispy-chewy tofu, tossed with soft, rich eggplant, crimini mushrooms, onion, green pepper, bok choy, flavored with anisey fresh basil and a rich, slightly spicy chili based sambal sauce that had deep umami from shrimp paste; little jolts of sweet from rock sugar was topper!; my wife had perfect Hunan shrimp- veggies and shrimp greaseless and crisp; black bean sauce tang, just enough to coat and enhance; my sons pad Thai was rich and peanutty, full of egg and shrimp.. Mmm.... Only 4 because though you can eat in this is truly carry out. While clean most of the former dine in restaurant space is used for storing soda; also no hot tea, and you have to eat out of carry out clamshells. That said- service very friendly! read more
