I honestly think this is one of the best Chinese food that I've had in Utah. I have loved everything that I've tried here. The food is delicious. And it's not super heavy which I think is a common thread among other Chinese restaurants I have been to in the state. Now when I think of Chinese food, this is one first place I think it. I ALWAYS order the green bean w/chicken dish...something about fresh green beans, stirred w/chicken, slightly seasoned...yum! They are consistent w/this dish, normally it's hot and spicy but, when they see me, they no...no heat. Whatever seasoning they use (no msg), it's so tasteful. This place is so yummy! The green beans with either chicken or beef is the best! Perfectly cooked. The wonton soup is excellent too. We enjoy getting the dinner b because it comes with all the yummy sides too. It's so much food for a good price and we always have enough for lunch the next day. Several egg shells in the fried rice, took a couple bites and literally felt a crunch each time. Worst Chinese I have had in years. Generals chicken was hard as a rock and overly sweet. Bean curd sauce tasted like ketchup.

Beware. This once fabulous restaurant has changed hands! The last two times we that we ordered takeout the food was below par. The fried rice was tasteless and the cashew chicken was more than 50 percent chicken skin. Our neighbors son ordered Mongolian chicken. CHINESE GET IN MY BELLY For what it is, this place rocks! Stuff your face lunch combos for under $10? You betcha. Honestly, I'd pay more for this quality of food. I went in for lunch yesterday by myself and was immediately greeted and seated by friendly waitstaff. My server was more than willing to accommodate my request for shrimp with vegetables, and my egg drop soup came out quickly after I placed my order. I could see how the egg drop soup might have an unappealing consistency for the average American palate, but I found it to be quite tasty. Next time I'll try the hot & sour. In the same respect, I loved the sweet and creamy dressing that came on my salad, but I could see how some might find the flavour off putting. My bento box also came with two deep fried gyoza and an egg roll. I have yet to find a better egg roll in Utah. The shrimp and veggies came in a typical and tasty chinese brown sauce. Instead of canned mushrooms, fresh ones were used!! Gasp!! Loved it. The fresh watermelon was a fabulous touch to top off my lunch. Well done Mandarin Garden!!! Don't forget to tip your server. If you can afford $8 for sit down lunch, you can afford to tip the waitstaff an extra $5. read more

We've visited this restaurant several times and the food is always great. Their prices are in line with like type restaurants. The service has always been great except the last time we visited. We were a little disappointed we weren't taken care of better. We felt maybe the server wasn't quite up to speed with the customary service this restaurant normally provides. Talk about the best Chinese place around for sure. I learned some great things about there dishes. Unlike most Chinese restaurants that will use one base sauce for most dishes and then just add something a little different to change things they make there sauces completely unique to each dish. Han & Michelle that are part of the ownership group are there in the restaurant and take great pride in giving there customers a great experience with incredible food and a really great price. I will be coming often and bringing friends. This is a go to place in Sandy, Utah for sure if you are anywhere in the SLC valley you have to come and try there food. I thought I would give this restaurant a try. The reviews are very mixed. My waitress was the cashier as well and the service was very poor. I had to get up and get my own plate and napkins. The quality of the ingredients was way below average, the presentation was poor. My dish had beef in it, but it did not taste or look like beef. Left half my meal on the plate. It actually pains me to write a bad review about this place. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years. We think possibly management may have changed. Or it's just become overly popular (the food is still great). But the service has become so poor. I went to pickup a to go order yesterday and I was late for my pick up time (so food should have been ready), and I waited for over 20 mins standing there with 4-5 other frustrated customers. I saw people coming up from their tables asking where their food was. People coming and just walking out in frustration. I probably spent 30 mins confusedly standing there wondering why I'm still waiting. They talked AROUND ME to ask other customers if they needed help without even explicating ro me what was taking so long. They finally brought it out and said "sorry someone else accidentally took your order". So what is the point of your phone number system for to-go orders if you gave it to the wrong person anyway? Obviously don't check. Then I was offered nothing in return for all the waiting and confusion and rudeness except a bill for my food. I'm going to David's Kitchen in SLC from now on for Chinese - they're a little better anyway even tho it's slightly further for us! They have some idea how to handle their crowds. read more

Tried this place recently for the first time and got take-out, the true test of any Chinese food... Does it travel? Absolutely yes it does! Cream-cheese wontons, still crunchy and well done not greasy. Sesame beef, tender and excellent flavor. Ham fried rice light, but not mushy not greasy at all. It is little things of chicken in a stew like mixture with curry powder. I could literally make the exact thing at home using my curry powder that I have. I will never for any reason order it again. The pot stickers were good with a nice tender crisp. The egg roll was a decent egg roll. I ordered on a Saturday night which was apparently a huge mistake because they told me 40 minutes and my husband ended up waiting at the restaurant for an extra 20 minutes. So an hour for take out... That's just not right. Or worth it. If you love orange chicken, get it. You won't be disappointed by that at least. read more
