Highly recommended, 5 Bartender was a gentleman who I think had 10 years experience with the restaurant. He was very knowledgeable & customer service focused. He mentioned the place has been in business over 50 years! Enjoyed a nice old fashioned with bread service, both delicious. Based on the bartenders recommendation I went with the salmon over risotto. I was skeptical about going. Yelp only gave a 3.1 star rating. I don't know why I went but I was more than glad I did Had to wait 20 mins for a table. Went to bar and had drink and before we were finished table was ready. The place was packed We order artichokes oregano, omg, to die for. Next was Cesar salad. It was a little cheesy but fresh and delicious. Now the entry. It was Good Friday so we order 2 fish specials. Halibut and cod. Both were outstanding Desert was pistachio tortufo. Mamma's is many things, kick ass pizza place, red sauce master class restaurant etc... But the rice ball from Mamma Lombardis remains a singular guilty pleasure, that all Long Islanders should experience. Here for a lax tournament and after booking on open table, I almost canceled due to yelp reviews. What gives? Service was relaxed, not slow even though the restaurant was slammed. The portions were huge. I read something about them being smaller now. If this is smaller now....Quality was great. Got penne vodka, the Parmesan, olive and prosciutto app, got the lobster chilled app, my son got the Alfredo with grilled chicken, two nice desserts - cannoli was great. Place has always been ahead of the curve on ripping you off; they don't even give a damn when they screw you over and it's been that attitude for 30 years. They used to have a few decent things but it's really gone down hill overall. I don't even want to waste more literary breath on a review but my recent visit before catching a train back to the city triodes less than thrilling results; the calamari was good (fra diavlo sauce wasn't as amazing as I remember) the rest was mediocre at best; the penne a la vodka was dry and tasted almost sour a day later out of the fridge so I threw it all away and the chicken Scarpariello is NOT Scarpariello, I asked them to add hot peppers and potatoes to make it somewhat closer to a good Scarpariello and they charged me 9-$12 for it and put it in a dish on the side... it was pretty bad. $100 of disappointment. read more

Everyone at the Bohemia office always says this is one of the best places to eat in Long Island. Coming from California, I would say, this place has great Italian food. We recently returned after a long time, expecting the quality to have declined after Covid. The prices were maybe 10 percent higher ,but there was no decline in quality and the portions are still quite large. We enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the hot antipast which was a large platter for the price (around $23). Still my favorite Italian restaurant on Long Island. read more

We went to Mama Lombardi's to celebrate my mother's birthday. We have been here many times in the past and always enjoy the food. This time, unfortunately was not the best experience. We did make a reservation for seven of us and we still had to wait about 20 minutes, which is OK and expected being that it was a Saturday night and they were very busy, after we were sat at our table, our waiter introduced himself and he did let us know that everything was taking time due to how busy the restaurant was. We agreed and we proceeded to order soft drinks, as well as some appetizers. We ordered the calamari and mozzarella sticks, they both came out pretty quick as well as a bread basket.. the appetizers were pretty standard. The mozzarella sticks seem to be the same kind of mozzarella sticks that you would get at any other restaurant however they were $15 for six of them which I thought was a little pricey. we proceeded to order our dinner items three of the people at our table ordered items that had Alfredo sauce and three dishes that had the red tomato sauce. The food took a really long time longer than we expected and when it came out the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo were drenched in sauce and they had 4 to 5 shrimp on them, these plates are $30 each. The problem is not the price or the quantity of the shrimp. However, the pasta was drowning in the sauce. It didn't look appetizing and it didn't taste appetizing, it tasted very milky, as if maybe you didn't have enough cheese in it. The chicken Parmesan was also drenched with sauce so much so that there was some water separation same with the spaghetti with the red sauce. All in all, we were not very impressed with the food and we decided then, and there that we would not be visiting mama Lombardi's again. It's just not worth the drive and the cost. The food quality was not the same as what it used to be. I am not sure if it's because they were too busy or if things have changed since the last time we have been there, our waiter was nice. However, the service wasn't the best and I feel that maybe because the gratuity is automatically added it takes away some of the service, we had to send back one dish because it was the wrong kind of pasta and it was another person that had to help us, and our drinks were not refilled or offered. Water was being refilled consistently and host was very nice. The restaurant itself has a nice ambience. We passed over several other Italian restaurants nearer to us for the mama Lombardi experience unfortunately it disappointed this time. read more

Dined at Mamma Lombardi's this past weekend. It's a restaurant that we don't go to often but when we do go, we know the food is going to be great. We arrived for our 5:30pm reservation and was promptly seated. As our appetizer, we ordered fried calamari. It was hot and delicious, but I prefer when it's breaded. My penne a la vodka entree was cooked to perfectly. The portion size was large and made for great leftovers the next day. I ordered chocolate layer cake for dessert and believe it could have been fresher. This really is a 3.5* for me. Pizza: takeout. When there are options, this is great! The slices were still warm when we got to our destination (15 mins away). Entrees: we dined in. Service was great! Our server Jasson, gave us his recommendation when we couldn't decide between 2 options and checked in on us. The other folks made sure our water glasses were constantly filled. Wait: We didn't make reservations on a Friday so it was a 30 minutes wait which was fine since it gave us time to look at the menu. Once we were seated, we were asked if we wanted to order any drinks which we didn't and asked for water. Complimentary bread platter with butter was provided immediately. Appetizers: Mozzarella Sticks (6): it was cheesy! Stuffed Artichokes: the stuffing was tasty though the artichokes were overcooked. Entrees: Chicken Bruschetta: chicken was cooked though it lacked seasoning. The bruschetta made the dish. Chicken and Sausage: the peppers were salty, the sausage, mushrooms, onions and potato were great. Chicken was cooked, again it lacked seasoning. This dish is good for 2 meals -- at least for me. Dessert: Pistachio Tartufo: was good. Orange Olive Cake: was dense and had a good orange flavor. My friend was hoping for more olive flavor. read more

Pretty good Italian food.. Came here with my mom for dinner. We started with some bread and butter. Overall nothing special. Some garlic bread and regular bread with butter. Would have been better with some dipping sauce in my opinion. For an appetizer we got cold anti pasto. It came with salami, provolone, sopressata, capicolla, sausage, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, olives, roasted peppers. After putting in the order our waiter came back about 10 mins later asking if we wanted cold or hot. We didn't even see an option for "hot" on the menu so we went with cold. It still took a while to come out, but it was tasty. With entrees you are able to pick between salad or pasta. Our waiter didn't even ask me what I wanted after placing my order, so I had to tell him. I went with a salad and my mom went with pasta. Salad was very, very basic. Nothing special at all. My mom said the same about her pasta. It was also watery. For my entree I got shrimp fra divalo. It came with 2 mussels and 2 clams and 6 shrimp. Flavor was great and spice level was perfect. My mom ordered chicken francese. She said it was good, but very light on the lemon. She also said the chicken was soft and she didn't need a knife to cut it. Service was just okay. We weren't rushed, but our waiter never really came back to see if everything was okay. We found this place by accident and glad we did. This is an old school Italian restaurant that serves really good rustic food. My wife and I shared the stuffed mushrooms and Chicken Parm(came recommended to us by someone else). Both were great. What we enjoyed the most was their NY Cheesecake. The seafood was fishy, it was supppsed to have calamari and lobster and had none, i asked for spicy and it was not, the linguine had barely any sauce The woman on the phone said 30 minutes and my wife waited 40 minutes after the 30 minutes was up to get our food. Mamma Lombardi's has been a Long Island institution of delicious Italian food and pizza since 1976. It has been in my life since 1992. When I lived in Holbrook from 1992 to 2000, there were quite a few times that I dined here. After an eighteen year hiatus my family and I had dinner in this Long Island institution.    This is a popular spot for both Italian food and pizza & heroes. In 2002, "Newsday" voted Mamma Lombardi's "The Best Italian Food on Long Island." It has grown from a smaller restaurant at this location to a thriving business that includes a catering hall in Patchogue, a gourmet up Main Street Holbrook, and a product line of sauces. A side effect of its popularity is that it doesn't have a friendly local mom and pop pizzaria feel.    Mamma Lombardi's reminds me of a spacious Mediterranean villa at the southeast corner of Main Street at Furrows Road in the heart of the Holbrook Business District. This Mediterranean villa overlooks a sea of parking spaces spreading east towards County Route 19. Parking has never been an issue. Inside is a spacious restaurant that features patio seating and two indoor dining areas. There is a large brightly lit dining room for pizza, heros, and comfort food, and a dimly lit elegant dining room for full service Italian food. Both rooms are spacious and carry a Mediterranean vibe.    After an eighteen year hiatus, my family and I returned here. It was enjoyable to be reunited with genuine New York pizza made with the New York water that supposedly creates the remarkable dough. At Mama Lombardi's there is a glass case showing the variety of pizza. I ordered a Sicilian slice (a square shape) with mushrooms then one with sausages. These two slices reminded me of why I love New York pizza. In the past when I lived nearby, I remember ordering savory eggplant parmesan subs here.   Just as I would with several Long Island pizzarias and Italian restaurants, I give Mamma Lombardi's four stars. The next time that I return to Long Island, I would like to return to this Long Island institution of delicious Italian food and pizza that has been in business since 1976. read more
